- Sullivans Cove Single Cask TD0192 American Oak 16 Year Old Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)Hobart, Tasmania, AUSTRALIA$799. 00Bottle$9588.00 DozenABV: 50.6%

Matured in American oak for 16 years, this single cask release had an outturn of 172 bottles at 50.6% Alc./Vol. These bottlings show the consistency of house character when matured in a controlled, familiar cask type, typically offering notes of vanilla, stone fruit and soft oak spice. Non chill filtered. From early bottlings that were sometimes awkward and experimental, Sullivan’s Cove has emerged as one of the top whisky producers in the Southern hemisphere. Founded in 1994, Patrick Macguire joined the company five years later as Head Distiller, spearheading a new bottle design and refining the portfolio. By 2007, the distillery gained international recognition with their American Oak winning Liquid Gold (95/100) in Jim Murray’s Whisky Bible. Even greater praise was to follow, with the title of World’s Best Single Malt at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards in London in 2014. In 2016 the distilllery was sold, but the core range has persisted (American Oak, French Oak and Double Cask. For collectors, a special single cask range includes older age statements and cask strength expressions). Thirty years on, Sullivans Cove's output is better than ever, affirmed by a meticulous new distillery and significantly bigger production to meet global demand. The majority of the whiskies are aged in either 300L French oak ex-tawny barrels or 200L American oak ex-bourbon barrels and generally bottled between 6 and 9 years.

In the American Oak Second Fill range, Sullivans Cove offer whiskies of maturity and finesse, drawn from casks seasoned by earlier spirit. Decades of slow ageing in these gentler barrels creates a delicate balance between vibrant fruit and malt character, soft vanilla, and mellow oak spice. In this example the nose needs coaxing to release a fruity aspect, in particular, dried pears, perfectly integrated with the oaky vanillas. The crisp, warming delivery shows a bit of that pickled ginger note that characterised early bottlings, but it's offset by a soft orchard fruitiness, almost like a young Calvados. The finish is subtle, medium-long, with gentle spices. Reveals the distillery's elegant side. 15ml sample.

French Oak ex-Pinot Noir Single Cask SC0387 was filled in August of 2017 into a single barrel. It's the Sullivans Cove expression that has become a legend, and one of the most sought-after Australian whiskies after winning World’s Best at the World Whiskies Awards in 2014 - and again in 2019. At seven years old, this cask was decanted in September of 2024, bottled unflocked and unfiltered at 46.1% Alc./Vol with an outturn of 379 bottles.Notes from the producers... Nose: Deep and evocative, where dark fruits and savoury intrigue entwine. Prunes and truffle lead into cherries, liquorice, and worn leather, met with the richness of strawberry jam and blackcurrant jelly. A flicker of flint, potpourri, and rose oil lends brightness, while the warmth of fresh lemon leaf, sage, dried hay, coriander and tobacco lingers. White pepper and cinnamon thread through, grounding the florals of violet and dried herbs. Palate: Umami-laden and richly textured, unfurling with the depth. The juicy, crunchy red berries of Tasmanian Pinot have been cooked down to a delightful mixed red berry jam, and lifted by cherry brightness. A full, rolling body carries silky tannins, interwoven with tea leaf, bay, and the savoury intrigue of curry leaf musk. Cola and thick cream provide contrast, met by the delicate fizz of creaming soda. Chinese roast duck, olive brine, and a hint of flint lend complexity. Finish: Supple tannins stretch the experience, carrying autumn leaves and the bittersweet warmth of cola. Alpine amaro lends its herbal grip, before hoisin, lemon rind, and coriander seed cut through with freshness. A final wave of citrus peel and Christmas pudding deepens into the dark fruit richness of plum sauce.

Sullivans Cove American Oak is a series of single malt whiskies drawn exclusively from American oak ex-Bourbon barrels. Each cask is aged in Tasmania’s unique climate for a minimum of 10 years, with many exceeding this. Bottled unblended and one cask at a time, each release reflects the distinct influence of its specific barrel. While the ABV varies from cask to cask—typically falling between 47% and 50%—all expressions are non-chill filtered and free from added colour. As one of the foundational expressions in the Sullivans Cove core range, the American Oak Single Cask highlights the purity of distillation and the consistency of house character when matured in a controlled, familiar cask type, offering notes of vanilla, stone fruit and soft oak spice.

These casks impart intense flavours of dark fruit, rich spice, and velvety sweetness, creating a deeply layered and luxurious whisky. Widely celebrated on the world stage, previous French Oak releases have won accolades such as “World’s Best Single Cask Single Malt” at the World Whiskies Awards, cementing their reputation for power, complexity, and a long, indulgent finish. -

Elijah Craig 11 Year Old Barrel Proof Bourbon Whiskey (700ml) - Batch B523Kentucky, UNITED STATES$220. 00Bottle$2640.00 DozenABV: 62.1%"The journey ends here for those looking for a big vanilla bourbon." - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2024
The second release in Elijah Craig’s 2023 Barrel Proof series. For those new to this label, the batch number provides specific information. So, for this release, 'B' stands for the 2nd batch in an annual A, B, C line. The 5 denotes the release month (May) while the 23 represents the year of release (Australian allocations always take longer than usual to arrive). The whiskey was aged 11 years and 5 months before bottling at 62.1% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... fresher than its years...Quite waxy in part with tannins building almost surreptitously . The sweetened vanillas are pretty full on; light coffee/mocha trace; though that coffee is a bit heavy on the high roast bitternesss late on. An elegant bourbon which reveals its age in ocassional fits and starts. The journey ends here for those looking for a big vanilla bourbon. 91 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2024
Notes from the producers... “The nose will knock you off your feet. The palate is ridiculously viscous, with cinnamon candies, rye, barrel, roasted vanilla bean & chocolate.”
- Specht Slivovitz Plum Brandy (700ml)GERMANY$64. 99Bottle$779.88 DozenABV: 40%
Double distilled from plums in the traditional fashion and presented in a distinctive round 'pocket watch' bottle, Specht Slivovitz offers a flavour profile that's as intriguing as its history. Inspired by old-country grappas made by Eastern Europeans who lived off the land, contemporary versions like this come close to eau de vie in flavour and body, tasting of plums or prunes while being full-bodied with a hearty spirit sweetness. Typically served as a digestif, warmed in the glass, you can also use Slivovitz in drinks like the Plum Brandy Sour or Plum Martini. The spirit has also become popular in hot toddies, mixed with honey, lemon and hot water. 40% Alc./Vol.

Makers Mark Star Hill Farm American Whisky (700ml)Kentucky, UNITED STATES$380. 00Bottle$4560.00 DozenABV: 57.4%Named after the company’s 1100-acre farm that surrounds the distillery, Star Hill Farm marks a shift in focus for the brand, being Maker’s first ever wheat whiskey, composed of 51% Soft Red Winter Wheat, 27% Malted Soft Red Winter Wheat and 22% Malted Barley. Zero corn is used. There's no age statement, however the label indicates it was distilled around 7-8 years ago, so expect something within that range. It's also high-proof and priced as an artisan product. Eric Hasman at breakingbourbon.com got a chance to taste the new premium release, summing up his thoughts as follows: "While it shares some similarities with the standard Maker’s Mark Bourbon, it is also refreshingly adventurous and contemporary... The majority of the sip is an invigorating change of pace, offering robust flavors, but using so much wheat in its mashbill has its drawbacks. That is evident in the whiskey’s finish, which features much more astringent oak than desired despite including so much malted wheat grain in its mashbill. Though it hampers what is otherwise a great pour, it’s not detrimental to the point of derailing the whole sip." 57.4% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Maker’s newest annual release blends wheat whiskey made from a mash of 70% wheat and 30% malted barley with 100% malted wheat whiskey, creating a fruity, rustic, and peppery pour. On the nose there’s brown sugar, chocolate chip cookies, lemon- ade, and a campfire-like hint of burnt wood. The palate is fruitier, with fruit tarts and bright citrus. A pepperiness shines with a prickle that fades slowly into toasted oak. (Release date: 5/25) 92 points - whiskyadvocate.com
"A very nice endeavor by Maker’s! Sweet, floral, rich and nuanced. There’s a bitter, tannic side to the pour that works in tandem with the sweetness to spectacular effect at times but at other moments takes a bit too much focus off the sweet, rich notes. The tannic profile adds some complexity; I just wish it were dialed down a notch or two — minor complaint about an altogether spectacular whiskey. Make no mistake: Maker’s Mark’s first wheat whiskey is a roaring success." - The Daily Pour
"The palate doesn’t surprise: It’s sweet, with brown sugar, then maple syrup becoming dominant. Again it’s quite toasty — like well-grilled wheat bread, not barrel char — which pairs well with the syrup quality to create a Sunday morning breakfast character. Pancakes are not out of the question here." - drinkhacker.com

St. Agnes XXO Exceptional Reserve 50 Year Old Brandy (700ml)Renmark, South Australia, AUSTRALIA$4799. 00Bottle$57588.00 DozenABV: 46%"One of the greatest achievements in Australian winemaking and distilling." - Luke McCarthy
At the time of writing, this is the oldest Australian spirit ever released, the majority distilled between 1970 and 1972 from Doradillo, Pedro Ximenez, Palomino and sultana grapes. Aromatics match the age statement; profound and superbly integrated, laden with rancio, buttered date cake, traces of old muscat, fig paste and fruit'n'nut dark chocolate with no loss of intensity after ample air contact. At five decades, the spirit warmth remains surprisingly present; It's brandy, no question, yet like its 30-year-old sibling, the profile draws comparison with high-end sherried single malt - it could be a single cask Glendronach or Macallan, for example, out of PX - especially at the finish where sticky date is more salient, checked by hints of orange zest. Pulsing persistence confirms this is seriously old material, and the complex fruit and nut interplay has to compete with some venerable oak. Sweet spices slowly retreat, leaving a glaze of rancio and ancient fortified wine through the aftertaste. Exceptional, and a brandy for lovers of single malt or Armagnac, more so than Cognac. 46% Alc./Vol. 50ml sample.
Other reviews... The mahogany colour indicates plenty of oak, which pays off on the nose – this is far woodier than the younger releases. Forest floor and an attic full of antique furniture creep out of the glass, and perhaps monsters lurk here. Please don't approach unless you like oak. But there’s Cherry Ripe, too, and that St Agnes creaminess I love. On the palate, it turns out the monster wants to hug you. Sure, it smells of sandalwood and leaf litter, but it’s a soft hug nonetheless, and the tannin on the finish is incredibly creamy, like an excellent cup of black tea rather than a dusty old bit of wood. This is perfectly true to style and an outstanding achievement by any measure. 96 points - Fred Siggins, winecompanion.com.au
Notes from the producers... The mahogany colour hints at the flavour in the glass. It smells of decades old tawny, Persian dates, marmalade and snow-white pebbles. It smells of old oiled cricket bats, rocky road chocolate and rose water. It fans out like a peacock’s tail on the palate. Viscous and luscious, bitter candied orange and caramelised apricot. It’s like inhaling the Barrel Halls, as the nutty rancio characters emerge and it just doesn’t stop, as hints of leather, cardamon, prunes and spice-rack linger. There’s light and shade, bright corners and dark corners. It’s hard not to get carried away when tasting an aged spirit with this level of depth and heritage. The kind of spirit that gives you goosebumps and makes the hairs on your neck stand up. One of the greatest achievements in Australian winemaking and distilling. - Luke McCarthy

St. Agnes XO Centenary Reserve Cask Strength Single Cask 30 Year Old Brandy (700ml)Renmark, South Australia, AUSTRALIA$749. 00Bottle$8988.00 DozenABV: 50.5%St.Agnes debuted this line several years ago, marking their first single cask release in over a century. Distilled from a Doradillo base wine, the bouquet is decadent, thick with oaky vanillas, cafe cremes, salted caramel chocolate, sticky date pudding and Rare Port, all sprinkled with cinnamon. At natural strength, it fulfils expectations; the flavour drive is impressive, the profile repeating the promise of the nose with an initial burst of juicy spiced-raisins, dried figs and apricots, tempered by tingling acidity and sweet oak. The tannins are fine-grained, the alcohol warms the heart and the overall balance near perfect. It's the beast of the collection, and arguably the most 'brandy-like', but the similarities to cask strength sherried single malts are also undeniable. Malt lovers take note! 50.5% Alc./Vol. 1995 distillation tasted.
Other reviews... At 55% alcohol, the Centenary Reserve has a lot more punch than St Agnes’ other brandies. Still, they’ve chosen less active casks here as the orange peel sweetness is far more apparent than oak on the nose, which is super cool for a spirit so old, especially when so many Aussie spirits are over-oaked at a 10th of this age. Whisky makers take note! The alcohol does present a bit of a barrier to nuance on the nose, but there’s still toasted almond and mint ice cream to be found. The entry on the palate is incredible, with big, warm, marmalade sweetness. Where the high alcohol hides some things on the nose, it explodes them across the tongue. This is my favourite palate of any St Agnes I’ve tried. The finish is still gentle with that hallmark St Agnes creaminess, and the fact that they can bottle at 55% without any burn is awe-inspiring. Remarkable. 97 points - Fred Siggins, winecompanion.com.au
Notes from the producers... , it’s instantly floral and fruity, with a bright freshness that’s hard to believe considering the age. Highly concentrated and fragrant, with poached pear, dried fig and crushed mint leaves. Delicious as it progresses, creamy and moreish, with a slightly leathery, linseed character. Minimal wood extraction allowing the distillate to shine. As complex and refined as Australian brandy gets, and what an invocation of the doradillo grape where it all started in 1925.

Sangiovese was pioneered in Australia by Coriole with the first vineyards planted in 1985. It provided a contrasting style to shiraz - the great tradition of McLaren Vale - and has proven to be ideally suited to the warm maritime climate of the region.
Red to dark red colour with black shaded edges and a vibrant red hue. Intense dark cherry and ripe red currant aromas jump out of the glass followed by some dried herb, earth and spicy tobacco notes. Juicy red currant and ripe cherry fruits flood the mid weighted palate overlaying a red liquorice, dried herb, earth and spicy tobacco back drop. Excellent fruit intensity and flesh with slightly chalky tannins and bright acidity. Long, generously fruited, spice laden finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.

Other Reviews.....
Such a reliable performer. I probably say something similar most years. Sometimes the well of inspiration runs dry when it comes to my introductions. Bright, crunchy, energetic sort of wine. Red cherry, raspberry, iron filings, some dried herb and almond. It’s medium-bodied, has a light grainy grip to tannin, good varietal flavour, and a lively finish of excellent length. Good stuff. 'The Irishman' is a brand from the same company behind the award winning 'Writer's Tears' Irish whiskeys. This is a triple-distilled expression aged in a combination of bourbon and oloroso sherry casks for a minimum of ten years. An attractive spicy fruit-cake integration into what is otherwise, a typical pot still profile. Air contact draws out a spirity, brittle edge to the malt. Third pass finds the intensity drop, revealing light orchard fruits, vanilla cream biscuits and slight caramel. Light-weighted, but the oils add body to what is a distinctive Irish: Sherried-vanilla meets a chocolate box of fruity cocoa in the aftertaste. Quaffable straight, but adding ice makes a noticeable difference to the texture. 40% Alc./Vol. [Batch 1916/2016]
Other reviews... [Batch 1703/2013] The Walsh Family releases 6,000 bottles in every small batch of their single malt. Each bottling is a combination of triple distilled whiskey matured in oloroso sherry and bourbon casks. The nose is bright with vanilla icing, butterscotch, and dried peach. - Glenfarclas 70 Year Old Warehouse Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$33999. 00Bottle$407988.00 DozenABV: 42.9%
At the time of writing, this is the oldest Glenfarclas ever released.
Distilled on 20 November 1953, the 70-Year-Old marks a pinnacle in Glenfarclas's legacy, embodying over seven decades of meticulous expertise. It was fully matured in the distillery's traditional dunnage warehouses in a single 1st Fill Sherry Butt. The original contents equated to approximately 500 litres. Of what was left, 262 bottles were filled in June 2025 at a natural strength of 42.9% Alc./Vol., and just 15 of those were allocated to Australia.
It's very rare for any distillery to be able to hold onto stocks for a period of 70 years. Most often distilleries will sell their whisky at a much younger age, but being one of the last family owned and managed distilleries in Scotland, Glenfarclas maintain the option of keeping casks for a longer, then releasing them when the time is right. Of course, it doesn't mean that you can just sit and wait 70 years and you'll have an amazing whisky. Casks will mature at different rates, so for any older casks you must monitor them for alcohol strength, aroma, character and flavour profiles. Needless to say, Glenfarclas are very proud to be able to offer their oldest ever product to date.
Notes from the producers... Colour - Polished dark teak. Aroma - Stewed fruits and traditional Scottish dumpling. Flavour - Dark chocolate laced with sherry-soaked dried fruits gives way to a refreshingly spicy tingle on the palate leading to a bold thread of rich, roasted coffee. Finish - Delicate peat resurfaces, rolling gently across the tongue with a green, grassy echo of Speyside origins.

This Marsannay Villages comes from five parcels including Les Larreys, Clos du Roy and En Blungey, as well as fruit from newly planted vines in Couchée. The oldest vines in the cuvée date from 1949. It’s fermented and aged for 18 months in 600-litre barrels, and Pataille uses a little new oak.
Other Reviews....
Firm reduction overshadows the fruit today though there is good freshness to the sleek, racy and delineated middle weight flavors that possess slightly better complexity on the super-refreshing, clean and bracingly dry finale. This should also drink well young or with 2 to 3 years of cellaring. Drink through 2026+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2022 Marsannay Blanc is a blend of several parcels. It was fairly reduced on the nose when I encountered it. The palate is more promising—much more—finely balanced with perfectly judged acidity, tangible mineralité, and a delicacy on the finish that I appreciate. Give it 12 months once in bottle. Drink 2025-2033.

Neal Martin - VinousPaler in colour and with a notably reductive nose, which does some good given the creamy note behind. Plenty of energy, medium bodied, lacks a bit of individuality but clearly well made, with a mineral finish helped by the reduction. The finish is the best bit. Drink from 2025-2028.

2022 Domaine Sylvain Pataille Marsannay Clos du RoyBurgundy, FRANCE$350. 00Bottle$4200.00 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: CorkSylvain Pataille has been instrumental in raising the profile of Marsannay since founding his domaine in 1999. Farming around 17 hectares biodynamically, he works with a remarkable diversity of sites, from old-vine Pinot Noir to rare Aligoté Doré and Pinot Beurot, and is known for sensitive, terroir-driven élevage with a high proportion of whole bunches. His work has been central to the ongoing push for premier cru recognition in Marsannay, and his wines are frequently cited as reference points for the appellation. They combine clarity and lift with impressive depth, proving that Marsannay belongs firmly among the most serious terroirs of the Côte de Nuits.
Alongside Longeroies and Champ Perdix, the Clos du Roy is one of Marsannay’s largest and most revered vineyards. Some consider it the appellation’s finest terroir, which makes sense when you consider the name: Roy is the ancient French spelling of roi, meaning king. It’s a steep, east-facing slope above the village of Chenôve, on the same line as the Gevrey Premiers Crus to the south. It has lightish red soil, including some sand, over a bed of Comblanchien limestone. When Marsannay finally gets its first Premier Cru (expected 2024), Clos du Roy will likely be at the front of the queue.
Pataille farms a serious 2.25 hectares in the clos, from vines planted in 1952, 1965, 1978 and 2001. As for the winemaking, ‘the king’s vineyard’ gets the royal treatment in the cellar, with 18 months in barrel and six months in tank before being bottled unfiltered. It ferments almost entirely as whole bunches.
Other Reviews....
The Marsannay Clos du Roy from Pataille is consistently among the top wines of the northern Côte de Nuits. The 2022 features soulful, super-ripe cassis and bramble fruit aromas with a savoury, smoky edge. The texture is dense and concentrated, with abundant tannin and enough freshness to drive this to an impressively long finish. The grapes are from Pataille's parcel of more than two hectares of mature vines planted in this south-east facing site's limestone pebbles and clay soil. It is slightly closed at present, but it should open in three to five years and drink well for at least another 20 years after that. Drink 2030-2070.

Charles Curtis MW - DecanterOnce again there is a highly attractive floral quality to the softly spicy if distinctly earthy nose that features mostly notes of dark currant and exotic tea. There is good underlying tension to the well-detailed medium weight flavors that are shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins on the chiseled and sneaky long finish that is akin to rolling tiny pebbles around in the mouth. This decidedly firm effort is an excellent example of the vineyard though one that will need all of a decade to arrive at its apogee. Drink through 2032+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2022 Marsannay Clos du Roy has a very well-defined bouquet with black cherries and wild strawberries, hints of inkwell and brine joining the chorus line with time. The palate is medium-bodied with fine-grain tannins, taut and fresh, with a very elegant, poised finish. About as good a Marsannay as you will find in this vintage. Drink 2025-2038.

Today he farms about 9 hectares across Chassagne-Montrachet, Puligny-Montrachet and Saint-Aubin. His wines are known for their precision and detail, combining ripe, expressive fruit with finely judged oak. Bruno's work in the cellar highlights the character of each cru while maintaining a consistently refined style.
Morgeot is a broad premier cru with varied soils, and Bruno's parcel produces a wine of depth and structure, typically on the more powerful side of Chassagne.
Other Reviews....
A more floral-infused nose also reflects a whiff of the exotic though here it's more subtle, on the aromas of poached pear and discreet wood. The sleek and unusually refined middle weight flavor possess both good volume and focused power that seems to build on the seductive and sappy if punchy finale. This too is quite good and worth a look if you enjoy generously proportioned whites. Drink through 2030+.

Bordering Puligny and Saint-Aubin, En Remilly sits high on the slope with thin, rocky soils that yield taut, mineral-driven wines of great purity.
Other Reviews....
Smoky reduction completely dominates the underlying fruit at present so be sure to decant this if you're going to try a bottle young. The refined and strikingly textured medium weight flavors possess excellent mid-palate concentration before terminating in a highly persistent, impeccably well-balanced and markedly dry, but not really austere, finale. This is a big and powerful wine, particularly by the usual standards of En Remilly and one that should age effortlessly. Well worth investigating. Drink through 2033+.

Perched at the top of Puligny, La Truffiere's poor, stony soils give particularly fine and linear wines. Bruno’s bottling shows notable clarity and length, with a distinctly Puligny profile.
Other Reviews....
This is also markedly floral in character with its nose of the essence of spiced pear and exotic tea aromas that are trimmed in moderate wood influence. The palate impression of the middle weight flavors is not nearly as dense or powerful but it is markedly finer and more mineral-driven as well before terminating in an almost delicate yet punchy, long and beautifully well-balanced finale. New oak is used sparingly, and fermentations are slow and natural, producing wines with a strong sense of place and remarkable balance. Ballot-Millot has become one of Meursault's most respected addresses.
Charmes is among the most generous and approachable of Meursault's premiers crus, with deeper soils yielding a wine of breadth and supple texture.
Other Reviews....
A slightly ripe nose offers up an array of white orchard fruit, especially pear, acacia, petrol and a hint of tangerine peel. There is again very good density to the beautifully textured and succulent medium-bodied flavors that aren't quite as refined as those of the Bouchères but do offer more volume as well as just a bit better depth on the balanced and saline-infused finale. Good stuff here. Drink through 2033+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2023 Meursault Charmes 1er Cru has an intense nose of dried honey, walnut and crushed stone—clean and precise, quintessentially Charmes. The oak is neatly subsumed. The palate is wonderful: slightly honeyed in texture, rounded and weighty, not as mineral-driven as the Perrières but the sheer presence of this Meursault is captivating. An outstanding wine from Charles Ballot. Drink 2026-2044.

Prominent mineral reduction nuances are present on the overtly floral-suffused aromas of spice, citrus and green apple. The super-sleek and almost painfully intense medium weight flavors brim with a borderline aggressive stoniness that is like rolling a tiny pebble around the mouth before terminating in a lingering finish shaped by lemon-tinged acidity. Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2023 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru, which I tasted as part of a masterclass in London with Charles Ballot, has an intense nose with crushed stone alongside hints of white peach and white chocolate. Sauvignon Blanc from a warmer part of Tasmania – the cooler regions might just make the variety a little too lean and mean – which works well. A gleaming pale green/gold, this is a Savvy of intensity throughout. The aromas are a pleasing mix of the herbal and the tropical, giving us a medley of passionfruit and cut grass – sounds odd but it works. There is acidity tending to paper cut levels, but as the tropicals take over on the palate, this is neatly balanced. Good length here, and the wine should drink well for the next couple of years. Bright, gleaming green-straw; has that extra degree of precision that Polish Hill River seems to always confer, and an intensity that is light on its feet; the slatey acidity is yet another marker that comes through strongly in this lime and lemon-accented wine thanks to extremely low pH.

2024 Triennes RoseMediterranee, FRANCE$29. 99Bottle$359.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 2 Years (2025-2027)ABV: 12.5%Closure: StelvinA gorgeous, slippery textured Rose, that finishes long, fresh and supple.
Triennes is a joint venture between Jacques Seysses of Domaine Dujac and Aubert de Villaine from Domaine de la Romanee-Conti and is located in the Var, to the East of Aix en Provence. It has farmed organically since 2008. Made principally with Cinsault, it also has some Grenache, Syrah and Merlot thrown into the blend.
Pale salmon pink colour. Alluring peach, raspberry and strawberry aromas drift through the nostrils with plenty of intensity followed by whiffs of musk, pomegranate and wet stone. Gorgeous slippery textural feel with delicious raspberry, peach and strawberry fruits featured over a subtle pomegranate, light musk and stony mineral back drop. Brisk acidity lends freshness to the long, supple finish.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

2024 Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock Shiraz Cabernet FrancHeathcote, Victoria, AUSTRALIA$130. 00Bottle$1560.00 DozenABV: 15%Closure: CorkOther Reviews…..
One of the enduring, great heroines of the Heathcote wine region; a wine significant in history and beautifully defining the concept of terroir. Inky dark purple and dense in hue – a Heathcote trademark. Taut and focused, far more than its '24 sibling; Emily isn't going anywhere too soon. Rather, it's got time on its vinous mind. Boasts a core of tightly coiled black and blue fruits, blackstrap licorice, vanilla pod, dusty cacao, allspice, crushed fennel seeds and red earth. There's an energy brewing – you can feel it. Tannins are ripe, in control and all set. All it needs now is time. Drink by 2042.

Jeni Port – James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion
Complex and layered, with aromas of black and blue fruits, spices, flowers, cured meats, graphite and licorice. The palate is vibrant and textural, with a firmly framed yet silken structure and a fine backbone of acidity. This wine, alongside the Georgia’s Paddock bottling, is outstanding and among the best I’ve tasted in recent times. Having tried every vintage back to 1988, this stands as one of the very best. Drink or hold.

Pitch black heart with a dark red black tinged hue. Black cherry, liquorice, scorched earth and spicy leather elements sail out of the glass. Rich black cherry and liquorice fruits carry good flesh as they merge into old cedar, scorched earth and spicy leather characters across the back half. Slightly chewy tannins firm up the generous yet rustic finish.

A juicy and well-balanced wine showing aromas of fresh red fruit, spiced plums, berries and touches of warm bread, white pepper and hibiscus. Crunchy and fruit-expressive, with a medium body and firm tannins. Excellent balance, and there is nothing overdone. It shows elegance and drinkability. Already approachable. Drinkable now, but can hold.

JamesSuckling.comThe 2021 Tinto Fino Celeste Crianza from Ribera del Duero was aged for 12 months in 300-liter French (55%) and American (45%) oak barrels, 17% new. Garnet in color, it offers aromas of cherry and sour cherry with marked barrel influence, including a hint of vanilla. Fine tannins and a chalky, plush texture carry through to a polished red fruit finish. Drink 2025-2035.
