2023 Ventisquero Queulat Gran Reserva Carmenere
An amply fleshed, mid weighted Carmenere that shows plenty of spice.
Viña Ventisquero was founded in the late 1990’s by Gonzalo Vial and has quickly gone on to become one of the countries top wine producers. With a winery based in the coastal Maipo Valley the estate sources grapes from the prestigious Casablanca, Leyda, Colchagua and Apalta Valley regions.
Aged for 12 months in medium-toast, fine-grain French oak (80%) and American oak (20%). Deep midnight black heart with a red to dark red hue. Nosing offers up aromas of red currant and mulberry which intermix with tobacco, dried herb, black olive and whiffs of spicy capsicum. Showing ample flesh, the mid weighted palate features red currant and dark cherry fruits over an earthy tobacco, dried herb, black olive, subtle tomato leaf and spicy cedar back drop. Fine grained tannins with an elegant finish that shows plenty of spice.
