This is the barrel-aged expression from Levantine - it's essentially their dry gin, rested in red wine barrels for a few months in the distillery's warehouses, not far from the Mediterranean coast. Tasting note: Brilliant gold colour. Appealing aromas of thyme, pine shoots, rosemary and peppercorns. Medium bodied, with soft, warming flavours of juniper laced honey, cinnamon and mixed herbal teas. Never too sweet, the finish is kept fresh by light pine and menthol. 46% Alc./Vol. -

Tasting note: Distilled with long pepper and orange peel and rested in bourbon barrels. The bouquet here is similar to Stockholm's London Dry, only softer with more orange pith and peel. The spiciness is tempered too, with juniper and citrus oils dominating; the botanical freshness maintained right through to the pithy finish. 40% Alc./Vol. Other reviews... A follow-up to Koval Dry Gin which debuted in 2015, this expression includes the same botanicals (rosehip, juniper, angelica root and coriander), but adds a new level of depth from the spirit's six months resting in Koval's x-whiskey barrels (Bourbon, mostly). Like its sibling, this comes brilliantly packaged with argyle die-cutting and bronze foil patterns through the label. Tasting note: Brilliant pale gold. Beams from the glass. Excellent aromatic lift with pine sap and rooty / white pepper notes combined with peppermint chocolate and muted cough lozenge sweetness. Middle-weighted with a silky, woody-juniper entry followed by butter menthol lozenge and hints of vanilla in the finish. Beautifully composed, very elegant barrel aged gin. 47% Alc./Vol. Other reviews... The gin's pine is present, to be sure, but it's balanced with a web of sweetness and spice — sort of like your spice rack teamed up with a touch of butterscotch and wandered into the forest. Add an ice cube to round off the gin's hot edges, and what's left is a perfect sipper that can please gin and whiskey drinkers alike. - Josh Noel, Chicago Tribune -

Tasting note: Pale brass-gold colour is reminiscent of young Chardonnay. Nosing finds a delightful harmony of citrus, coriander, woody juniper and pine needle underscored by subtle sweetness. Follows through with vivacious, full bodied flavours of juniper, pepper and lemon cough lozenge, ending piney, fresh and well balanced with hints of cardamom and citrus zest in the aftertaste. The pick of the bunch from this distillery. 49% Alc./Vol. - $79.99 Bottle$959.88 Dozen

A gin barrel-aged for three months in x-Cognac casks and produced in collaboration with an organic Co-op of farmers in Central Asia. The organic juniper berries are sourced from a nature reserve in Central Asia while the fair-trade spices are grown in the Kerala region of South West India. Tasting note: [tasted from a near empty bottle] Clear with a pale straw blush. Attractive and unusual aromas of lemon grass, ginger root, delicate caraway and balsa wood with light piney juniper adding freshness. A velvety entry leads into a relaxed, middle weighted profile with flavours of green juniper, clove, lemon verbena, muted caraway and vibrant spices. Excellent balance. Different and slightly daring without compromising the juniper keynote. 42% Alc./Vol. -

A gin infused with juniper berries, angelica, coriander and aged on oak chips in old beer casks. Tasting note: Brilliant gold. Low key aromas of fresh-sawn American oak, balsa wood and light vanilla. Better integrated on the palate with the sweet oak notes enhanced by hints of coriander and piney-juniper. Ends mildly astringent, medium fresh, delicately herbal. 42% Alc./Vol. - $89.99 Bottle$1,079.88 Dozen

Tasting note: Intense yellow-gold with thick legs. Offers unusual hints of crushed ant and orange cordial in the opening sniff. Second pass finds juniper/menthol freshness infused with hints of lemon thyme and saffron. Feather-light, supple, rounded mouthfeel with delicate cumin / turmeric / saffron-like flavours over refreshing background juniper. Restrained vanilla sweetness enters at the finish. Closes with faint saffron, bitter peel and ginger-like warmth in the aftertaste. Understated yet engaging. Enjoy this as it is. 47% Alc./Vol. - $69.99 Bottle$839.88 Dozen

Produced by Pierre Ferrand (the cognac house that owns Plantation rum), this is a variation of Citadelle Reserve (based on 22 different botanicals), sweetened using brown sugar from the Caribbean. Beautifully presented with the inevitable Tom Cat included on the label. Very small allocation for Australia. Tasting note: Pale gold. Nicely integrated herbal-juniper freshness over underlying notes of vanilla, lemon cough lozenge and pepper. Follows through with an oily, semi-sweet profile including flavours of cough lozenge, lemon iced tea, candied pineapple and a warming, delicate peppermint / juniper finish. Concludes more like a London dry. Complex and beautifully textured. 46% Alc./Vol. 6500 bottles produced. -

A triple distilled, small batch gin made from grape spirit and local botanicals including native cranberry and saltbush. The brand pays homage to the region's first settlers. The producer's aim for this expression was to add structure to the gin without reducing the clarity of the botanicals. Tasting note: [BATCH 1401] Bright gold. Initial inspection conjures a curious medley of baked citrus, potpourri and rose-scented furniture wax. Light to medium bodied with subtle juniper and pine needle-like flavours and hints of peppermint and liquorice in the finish. Relaxed in the mouth with time in barrel muting the spices. The gin character is retained, though even less time in oak might be desirable? 43% Alc./Vol.
