Archie Rose Fundamental Spirits Straight Dry Gin (700ml)

Under the umbrella title of 'Fundamental Spirits', comes a new range of 100% Australian vodka, gin and whisky created as an easy foundation for your favourite drinks. The Straight Dry Gin is cold distilled with sustainably sourced local and Australian ingredients. Botanicals include lemon myrtle, reclaimed orange peel, pink peppercorns, Roman chamomile and strawberry gum. Despite the middling ABV, this maintains decent concentration with a classically 'ginny' profile that strikes a nice balancing act between piney juniper and citrus, closing with a spike of pepper heat that makes it feel closer to 45% instead of 37% Alc./Vol. Be sparing with the mixers, as the gin's character is easily lost.

Notes from the producers... A complex nose with the evolving aromas of sappy pine, fresh thyme and lime zest and an aroma of freshly zested orange in the background with the faintest hint of waxy lemon. The palate has great precision yet generosity with a strong juniper backbone that is complemented by charred lemon, pineapple and grapefruit. A subtle floral character extends into the finish but is overcome by the pervasive juniper which pushes out into a long, dry and satisfying conclusion.
