Jeremy Spencer and Jason Chan’s latest effort is this full strength limited edition gin based on traditional botanicals like juniper, orris root, coriander and angelica as well as less typical ingredients like sea parsley, lemon verbena and Margaret River ocean water. It's a great addition to the West Winds stable. The name references the most brazen, aggressive and fearless of naval war tactics where warships released a close-range barrage of firepower from every gun along one side of the hull.
Tasting note: [BATCH 1 tasted] Brilliant crystal clear, noticeably viscous appearance. Generous aroma yields powerful scents of juniper, mixed citrus peel and lemonade gelato followed by hints of white pepper and lavender. Viscous entry leads into an exceptionally concentrated citrus peel accented profile with hints of juniper and pepper. Finishes delicately bitter, vibrant and poised with controlled spices carrying through to a liquoricey / juniper-like fade. Fantastic length and persistence. The balance at 58% ABV is first class.
