A wonderful tribute to Ford Guthrie, the son of the producer who tragically died too young. Walks the finest of lines between complexity and freshness so well, so convincingly. Dense, dark purple hues. Ripe, sweet blackberries, cherry, blueberry, lively spice, black licorice, chocolate and warm oak light up under the liveliest of bubbles. Flows seamlessly, underscored in soft, ripe tannins and delivered long with a subtle, spicy sweetness. Classic modern Aus style. Drink by 2034.

Balvenie Single Barrel 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLANDReduced from $179.99$159. 99Bottle$1919.88 DozenABV: 47.8%Launched in 2013, Balvenie's Single Barrel offerings are limited editions, with no more than 300 drawn from a single cask, hand-numbered and labelled with the cask number. This release was matured in first-fill bourbon casks for at least 12 years before bottling non-chill filtered.
2014 batch tasted... Perfect clarity in the bright gold appearance. Wavers before attractive scents of apple strudel, poached pear in wine and hints of cinnamon are released. Further exposure subdues the overall intensity but accents mild fruit cake notes, dilute honey and hints of ginger biscuit. The big wood influence and higher ABV delivers more punch than you'd expect from Balvenie with honey, vanilla and barley sugar featuring in a medium to full bodied profile and showing terrific balance through to the vibrant, spicy, subtle charry oak / wafer biscuit fade. Like the superb peated release tasted earlier, this marks a departure from the house style, taking a more heavy handed approach to what is generally a delicate spirit. It will find favour amongst those who generally prefer the bolder Speyside malts, like Benromach or Glenfarclas. Great value while this price holds.47.8% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... I believe these are all first fill. I doubt different casks will be very different, it's probably all under control. Colour: white wine. Nose: fresh and citric at first, chalky and lemony, with touches of fresh oak (not totally dry) and just cut grass. A little iron too. It's very tight, with growing notes of paraffin and fresh cement, then green apples and a wee menthol/camphor combination. Refreshing altogether. Mouth: really very good. Lemon sherbet, tight grasses, the greenest green apples and the greenest limes, then perhaps mirabelles and damsons, but it'll never get as mellow and rounded as some other casks that I had tried earlier. Finish: long and sweeter, more on jellybeans, then just a lot of grass. Perhaps a little too much sourness in the aftertaste, sour fruits… Comments: it's remarkable that it never got vanilla-driven given that this was first fill. 85 points - whiskyfun.com
An aromatic Scotch with bright honey, pear and floral touches, this single-barrel offering features creamy custard, banana and a touch of cocoa before finishing on a baking spice note. The alcohol presence is considerable; temper it with a good dose of water and consider pairing it with a rich dessert. 91 points (12/1/2013) - wineenthusiast.com

Another superb Clare Valley Riesling from the Watervale sub-region, the fruit comes from a dry grown vineyard with vines in excess of eighty years of age. 100% free run juice. This is exceptional value. The very gentlest pale lemon colour, the wine offers a gorgeous nose, wonderfully aromatic, with lime blossoms, spices, white jasmine, river stones, florals and a line of minerally support. Beautifully crafted with excellent length, there is bright, zesty acidity running the full length. Finely balanced, the wine will provide pleasure for at least the next fifteen years. Dune is a project of brothers Duncan and Peter Lloyd (next generation Coriole) using fruit sourced from their vineyard in the Blewitt Springs sub-region of McLaren Vale. Blewitt Springs is known for deep sandy soils on yellow clays where Shiraz typically ripens later than other parts of McLaren Vale. It typically produces Shiraz of lifted dark fruit, floral and meaty notes, the tannin is fine yet chalky and the wines are often medium bodied rather than full.
Impenetrable inky black colour with a deep dark red black hue. Captivating dark plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry scents sail out of the glass with plenty of intensity followed by some dried herb, scorched earth and peppered meat notes. Gorgeously plush and rich yet refined in it’s flow, juicy dark plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry fruits swoop across the medium to full bodied palate. Fennel, spicy vanillin cedar and peppered earth elements line the back half. Seamlessly integrated tannins show great polish and only serve to enhance it’s glossy textural feel. Understated in its power it finishes long and generous yet highly finessed.

The internet is full of praise regarding Signatory's 100 Proof bottlings, a series that continues to put many other independents to shame. Here's a cracking value from a sought-after name in single malt that's rarely encountered: Mortlach, matured in second-fill oloroso butts - an exercise in restraint from Signatory that sees the sherry input balanced instead of prevailing, meaning the meaty and textural qualities that make Mortlach what it is are nicely expressed. Apparently it 'swims' well too, so you can extend the value with a splash of water to open up the flavours. Well done Signatory, keep them coming! 57.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Glengyle Distillery Kilkerran Heavily Peated Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - Batch 13Campbeltown, SCOTLAND$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 58.6%Yes, it’s that time again. Brought to market twice a year at natural strength, Glengyle's Heavily Peated 2025 release continues the trend of using high-quality bourbon casks (90%) to provide a creamy, sweet base for Kilkerran's earthy peat smoke. The remainder comes out of sherry casks with the barley peated to around 45 ppm. It's reported that the distillery is pretty happy with this formula and has settled on it going forward. Those who've tasted it generally agree that the combination hits the mark (yet again), being at least as good or better than most previous batches. On allocation in Australia. Stocks are not expected to last long. 58.6% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... We were rather fond of Batch 12, also released this year (WF 87) Colour: pale gold. Nose: seriously powerful at first, brushing up against cologne, then slowly the candied lemons, oysters and iodine tincture take over, bringing a piercing, clean sharpness to the whole. With water: seawater, seaweed, plaster and beach sand at low tide. Mouth (neat): perfect, farmy, very lemony, with surprising notes of Toplexil, green pepper and salt. In the end, it’s all about purity. With water: really excellent, almost like pure oyster juice, just missing a few drops of Muscadet. Finish: very long, very vertical, salty, peppery and lemony to the point of excess, but we’re all for that. Slightly youthful on the aftertaste, with green pear and a touch of rubber. Comments: still just as good and properly peaty. We now await batch #14, likely due next year. 87 points - whiskyfun.com
...Heavy smoky peat, associated with distillate which is peppery, lemony, and long aftertaste. Quite different than batch 12, which has been open awhile and may have changed. Batch 12 doesn't seem as heavily peated. I like this better, although just opened, mainly because the distillate has better flavors. - whiskybase.com
Notes from the producers... Nose: Creamy butterscotch and notes of banana fritters and elderflower kick off this heavily peated dram. Palate: The peat smoke on the palate is complemented by notes of honeydew melon and Iberico ham. Finish:The smoke continues in the finish along with notes of verbena and honeycomb.

Nutty, malty and displaying a cocoa tendency. 86 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2025-26
Always an incredible value, it’s nice to see Speyburn continuing to move its way toward older and older bottlings. (Old Speyburn can be quite lovely.) This expression eschews parlor tricks and goes with a straightforward aging regimen: It’s matured in both bourbon and sherry casks for 18 years, though the proportion of each is not disclosed. Let’s dive in. The nose here is classic, sherried Speyside: Malty and rich, nutty, with ample sherry giving it a spicy, citrus peel kick. Notes of camphor and eucalyptus provide a nostril-clearing punch, with just a ton of spice coming on after those more pungent notes blow off. The palate largely follows suit. There’s plenty of sherry here; on first blush it feels like it could well be a Macallan bottling. Ample notes of orange peel and lemon peel dominate on the tongue, with a malty, ruddy character smoldering beneath. A drop of water is a nice touch, helping notes of walnut, nutmeg, red wine to percolate — but the finish belongs to the wood-heavy sherry character. Sherry fans: Run, don’t walk, to pick up this rare 18 year old... - drinkhacker.com

2025 Best’s Great Western Foudre Ferment RieslingGreat Western, Victoria, AUSTRALIA$34. 99Bottle$419.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 6 Years (2026-2032)ABV: 11%Closure: StelvinA savoury oak matured Riesling that carries a pulpy feel.
This wine is reflective of the way Riesling was made at Best’s in the 1970s and earlier. The aromatic Riesling juice is given extended skin contact then wild fermented in large French oak foudre (barrels). The wine exhibits both the complexities of a barrel ferment and spontaneous fermentation without the overt oak flavour, due to the large size and subtlety of the Foudre.
Brilliant very pale straw almost water like core with green tinged edges. Pear, green to red apple skin and lime scents leap out of the glass followed by some subtle quince, gentle honeysuckle and wet stone notes. Pulpy textural feel with lime, green apple skin and green pear fruits meld into a refreshing back drop of delicate nectarine, mandarin and flinty mineral characters. Crisp acidity with along flinty mineral infused finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews……
Left on skins for 24 hours, pressed and racked to two large oak casks, barrel fermentation, left on lees for five months. A wine that says 'not only is it okay to place riesling in oak, but it can open up a wonderful world of flavour and texture'. Aromatic honeysuckle florals and exotic ginger and lemongrass aromas mingle with citrus, pear and apple. Builds on the palate oh-so delicately but deeply with a warm textural mouthfeel. Oak contributes to the umami and a leesy almond mealy-ness, while the purity of riesling fruit shines brightly. A stunner from a top vintage. Drink by 2037.

It was originally exclusive to World of Whiskies (UK Travel Retail). The limited edition sees a vatting of four and five-year-old fresh bourbon barrels, partially finished in oloroso sherry butts, resulting in a young, relatively light and easy-drinking Kilchoman, not as phenolic or in your face as a Sanaig, for example, but still boasting classic peat and bourbon notes with a pleasing complexity that evolves over time. The name 'Coull Point' refers to a rugged headland a few miles north of the distillery, which is also featured on the packaging. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Other reviews... This strikes me as being the most overtly smoky of Kilchoman's recent bottlings, and also the sweetest. Intense and very forward, there's baked apple, humidor notes, honeydew melon, fresh shellfish. Water brings out a putty-like youthfulness, so take it neat. The palate is amazingly sweet (think golden syrup), then the smoke folds itself over. A good—and well-priced—introduction for newcomers. 87 points - whiskyadvocate, com
...Peat can be useful to hide dubious spirit and/or casks to improve the overall presentation. This however is peated Kilchoman and dubious it ain’t. What we have here is a quality, young, precocious, peated artisan presentation with a sublime and restrained peat level, an amount that complements the spirit without swamping it. There is some heat that builds on the palate right to the end but water does help, In the words of Cat Stevens’ ‘Father and Son' - ‘You're still young, that's your fault….’ - so all you can do is present yourself in the best way possible - and thats whats happening here. For me its one of Kilchoman’s most successful presentations to date and one i’d purchase if it wasn’t for some splendid young, peated Bunna’s coming out right now. Well done Kilchoman, loving your work. - whiskybase.com

Independent Caol Ila's are rumoured to be drying up. Hiding at the bottom of the cliffs by Port Askaig on Islay’s eastern shore, the distillery has a reputation for producing smoky, maritime whiskies of elegance and poise. This one yielded a total of 600 bottles from a 'butt'. Judging by the tasting notes, we assume there's some sherry involved. Think flavours of burnt toffee, cough sweets and lemon oil with cloves, cinnamon and peat smoke. 61.2% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Tomatin 12 Year Old Sherry Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$109. 99Bottle$1319.88 DozenABV: 40%Following the global demand for quality, fully sherry-matured malts comes a new Tomatin designed as an evolution of the Highland distillery's classic 12 year old. The aim has been to create a whisky with a depth of flavour that's luxuriously indulgent, without breaking the bank! 40% Alc/Vol.
Other reviews... A classic sherry whisky with a pleasant fruitiness. Due to the full maturation, the sherry notes are clearly prominent, but well integrated and not overpowering. However, I detect a strange, indefinable note that's hard to pin down. I suspect PX casks may have been involved. Overall, a solid treat with a gentle yet present sweetness. - whiskybase.com
Notes from the producers... Caramelised apple and pear lead, balanced with a wonderful mix of sultana, orange peel, apricot and hints of aged leather. Deeper on the palate with notes of chocolate fudge and manuka honey, along with dried fruit and nut. The finish is warm and round with a sweet, cinnamon spice.

Kilchoman Loch Gruinart Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Islay, SCOTLAND$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 46%Kilchoman launched Loch Gruinart in 2020 as an exclusive for a French supermarket. The whisky has subsequently appeared across the UK. We've managed to secure a small volume. Bottled at 46%, it's young, fresh and vibrant but still riddled with Kilchoman's typical ashy peatiness. European and American oak matured. Non-chill filtered.
Other reviews... A more affordable Kilchoman, this is a blend of 4-6 year old peated single malts aged in a mix of bourbon and European oak sherry casks. Muted maritime salinity, well-integrated peat smoke, hot bacon fat, dark chocolate, orange, and fresh-squeezed lemon on the nose. The peat recedes a bit on the palate, making room for lemon meringue pie, blueberry, and pepper spice. Nicely textured and viscous, with the finish tailing off a bit. 90 points - whiskyadvocate.com

Other reviews... This travel retail exclusive whisky feels very classic in style to us. It is superbly balanced, juicy yet approachable and welcoming. There is just enough spice and oakiness to match the fruit and sweetness. The price point is very reasonable for a 13 -years-old. The classic elegant style of whisky held in the one-litre bottle would make us go back for more after each glass so well worth buying in the larger size. It is a Spring-like whisky and perfect for the coming warmer months. - whiskyforeveryone.com

Glenmorangie The Cadboll Estate 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$169. 99Bottle$2039.88 DozenABV: 43%From Glenmorangie's Cadboll Estate range, which is made using single-estate barley grown on Glenmorangie's own fields. These are actually batch releases (although the numbers aren't stated on the packaging. The only way to differentiate them is according to the maturation regime). Apparently we're up to Batch 4, which was matured in 'Designer Bourbon Casks' .They help to magnify the whisky's creaminess.
The 440-acre Cadboll Estate produces just enough of their own unique strain of barley for no more than two weeks production per year. Time and care goes into making sure the barley is exactly to spec. Dr Bill Lumsden comments, “The Cadboll Estate barley brings an extra creaminess to our delicate, fruity spirit. For those of you who do not live in the Highlands – in other words, most of you – enjoying our Cadboll Estate whisky is the next best thing to being here.” 43% Alc./Vol.

AnCnoc Peated Sherry Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$129. 99Bottle$1559.88 DozenABV: 40%A Highland peater defined by delicate campfire smoke, spiced up by a spell in sherry casks. Toffee apples coated in warming cinnamon, deep vanilla, and a sweet wood smoke are some of the notes to look for. Recommended as an entry-level whisky for those who want to venture into the smoked category. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Why you would do a finish on such a whisky, I don't quite know. Not happy with the make? Something that went wrong with the peated malt? Too immature? Bah anyway, it's just an NAS at 40% vol., so stakes should be low anyway. Colour: gold. Nose: nice, in fact, with tobacco and autumn leaves, walnuts, some hay, touches of mustard, cassis leaves, cigarettes, and something akin to… Laphroaig Lore (with apologies both to AnCnoc and Laphroaig). Mouth: light and rather thin, sooty, peppery and pretty ashy. Green walnuts and a little salt, plus rather a lot of oversteeped black tea. Little depth and not much oomph., but as they say, it does go down effortlessly. Finish: short, ashy. More black tea and more walnuts. Almost no aftertaste. Comments: pleasant, I'm just not sure the whisky world really needed some NAS peated AnCnoc at 40% vol. that was finished in sherry. Not any boxes ticked. 75 points - whiskyfun.com

2014 Voyager Estate Cabernet Sauvignon Museum ReleaseMargaret River, Western Australia, AUSTRALIAReduced from $125.00$110. 00Bottle$1320.00 DozenABV: 14%Closure: StelvinLocated in the prestigious Stevens Valley of Margaret River, Voyager Estate is a beacon of quality defined by its meticulous attention to detail and deep environmental conscience. Founded by the late Michael Wright and now led by his daughter Alex Burt, the family-owned estate has evolved into a fully certified organic operation where the health of the ancient, mineral-rich gravel soils remains the top priority. Under the guidance of winemaker Tim Shand and viticulturist Mike Saunders, the estate produces estate-grown, perfumed, and elegantly proportioned wines that sit alongside the region's elite. By micro-managing specific vineyard plots and matching clones to unique geologies, Voyager Estate continues to set the benchmark for sustainable excellence in Australian viticulture.
This classic Margaret River blend, led by fruit from the estate's historic 1978 Old Block, offers a sophisticated profile of perfumed fruit and structural elegance. Matured for nearly two years in fine-grained French oak, the addition of Merlot and Petit Verdot lends a fleshy texture and floral nuance to this impeccably aged museum release.
Other Reviews....
90% cabernet sauvignon, 6% merlot and 4% petit verdot. Deep, bright purple-crimson hue; the expressive indeed, perfumed bouquet points the way for the elegant medium-bodied palate, where juicy fruit, oak and tannins are fused seamlessly together. An appropriate wine for Voyager's 40th anniversary, certain to celebrate its 50th. The difficulty will be keeping your hands off it. Drink by 2028.

James Halliday - Australian Wine Companion (June 2021)Labelled as cabernet sauvignon (only) though there is some merlot in the mix.
A beauty. Cabernet to the nth degree. So well structured, so well fruited. Blackcurrant, bay leaves, whispers of both milk and dark chocolate, black olives. It’s juicy, it’s substantial, it’s drawn with firm, fine, sweet tannin. Pretty much a certainly to perform well in the cellar. Drink 2020-2032+.

Campbell Mattinson - The Wine Front (Feb 2019)10 years young and humming. One of Voyager’s best Cabernet vintages—and a personal fave! Olive dust, cacao, and blackberry pie. It will continue on its path to greatness for another 8-10 years, but if you lean toward the bright primary fruit of young Cabernet, your best window is now. Gravel dust, char, and fig. This wine feels calm and complete, with integrated, chocolate powder tannins and wrinkled nuances. Decant this king before drinking. Drink with roast lamb. Drink 2025-2035.

Châteauneuf-du-Pape is considered a top tier appellation in the south, producing full bodied, opulent Grenache based wines that are long-lived. 1989 Edradour 200th Anniversary 35 Year Old Enigma 2 Sherry Cask #368 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1999. 00Bottle$23988.00 DozenABV: 62.3%Edradour's founder, Andrew Symington made a lot of very astute purchases when he started Signatory Vintage back in 1988. Most of those were aligned with his personal preference for the deepest, darkest sherry bombs money could buy. At the time, he was procuring a bunch of first rate casks for releases down the track. That time has now come. Two venerable whiskies, and arguably the highlights of Edradour’s 200th anniversary collection are Enigma 1 & Enigma 2, representing the inaugural editions in the luxe series. Both are blockbuster malts displaying amazing colour saturation. The latter (Cask #368) spent all its life in a modern concrete warehouse (partly underground with air circulated round it 24 hours a day). These conditions resulted in a lower outturn than Enigma 1, but in a whisky with greater alcoholic strength. 379 bottles were drawn from the first-fill butt, the liquid infused with rich, dark dried fruit, chocolate and coffee flavours. Both gems come suitably packaged in a presentation case accompanied by two crystal cut Glencairn glasses. 62.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

1989 Edradour 200th Anniversary 35 Year Old Enigma 1 Sherry Cask #355 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1999. 00Bottle$23988.00 DozenABV: 52.6%'Enigma 1', like its sister cask 'Enigma 2', was distilled in 1989 and matured for 35 years in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt. The two bottlings differ slightly, and are intended to demonstrate the results of contrasting maturation conditions. A damp dunnage warehouse yields less liquid loss but a far greater strength loss. A dry, well-aired concrete warehouse yields a much higher liquid loss but retains a greater alcoholic strength. It is from the former environment that cask #355 emerged in 2025. Bottled at 52.6%, this is perhaps the most quintessential example of the distillery’s traditional sherried house-style and will likely be the most coveted release in the 200th Anniversary collection. 498 bottles were produced, each presented in an elegant wooden presentation box with two crystal glasses. A dry, Bordeaux styled Sauvignon that combines textural shape with varietal freshness and zip.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with green tinted edges and a watery hue. Aromas of lime and pear are gently overlaid by some smoky notes with hints of grilled asparagus, herbaceous grassy characters and flint. Carry nice textural shape, the palate is detailed with lime, green apple and lemon fruits which meld into a gently smoked pencil shavings back drop of asparagus, herbaceous grassy elements and flinty mineral accents. Crisp refreshing acidity with a dry finish that still shows plenty of zip.

Totally opaque black dark red colour with a red to dark red hue. Lifted blackcurrant and mulberry scents are intertwined with gentle cigar box, dried herb, earthy black olive and spice notes. The 2020 Les Forts de Latour is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26.5% Merlot and 3.5% Petit Verdot, incorporating a 64-hectoliter tank of Merlot that would normally have been included in the Grand Vin but which didn't fit with this year's blend. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of minty cassis, plums, licorice, pipe tobacco and vanilla pod, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with terrific depth at the core and a somewhat more textural, granular profile than the suave 2019. Drink 2027-2055.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2020 Les Forts de Latour is superb. Hints of gravel, dried herbs, game and licorice weave through a core of dark red/purplish fruit. Spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco follow. The purity of the flavors is just striking. Initially a touch reticent, the 2020 fleshes out beautifully with a bit of air. I would give this at least another year or two in bottle. A magnificent Forts de Latour. Drink 2028-2045.

James SucklingA blockbuster of a Les Forts, the 2020 Les Forts de Latour is based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26.5% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and aged 18 months in 60% new French oak. Its deep ruby/plum hue is followed by textbook Latour notes of currants, melted crayon, graphite, and lead pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and concentrated on the palate, it has a powerful, structured mouthfeel, remarkable purity, perfectly ripe tannins, and a great, great finish. It might be the finest Les Forts I've tasted. Hitting 13.1% alcohol, it's approachable today yet has another 30 years of longevity. Drink 2026-2056.

Aberfeldy 18 Year Old Sangiovese Italian Wine Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$250. 00Bottle$3000.00 DozenABV: 46%After decades of wine-influenced single malts hitting the market with variable results, some producers are starting to understand that a lot can be won with balance. When done right, wine casks can offer something a little off the beaten track. By most reports, Aberfeldy are leading the way with their "Wine Cask Series". This one comes matured in casks that previously held Italian Sangiovese red wine. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Other reviews... Aberfeldy has fully embraced wine cask maturation. Many of their limited releases now feature such a cask type. The Wine Cask Series was created late last year. First a 15-year-old was released, but today we’ll be looking at the Aberfeldy 18 Years Sangiovese Red Wine Cask Finish. Today’s 18-year-old was finished in ex-Sangiovese red wine casks sourced from Tuscany’s Valdarno di Sopra region. I don’t mind wine, like at all, but I won’t pretend to be familiar with this particular region either. Instead we’ll just dive right in... Delicate, yet nicely balanced, especially for a wine matured single malt. That may sound snobbish, but it can be a challenge to not turn whisky into winesky. In general, these types of releases seem to have improved over the years. - wordsofwhisky.com

Other reviews... Colour: gold. Nose: gingery, cinnamon and spices. Green peppercorn, charred pineapple, cereal, waxes and a little aniseed. With water: nutmeg, cedar wood and sandalwood, with some subtle beach sand and healthier horny vibes – feeling suitably ‘Orcadian’ and even a little bit HP, dare I say. Mouth: grippy spices and a nice menthol note on arrival. Eucalyptus, lemon verbena, bergamot and dried exotic fruits in muesli. With water: herbal, honeyed and waxier. Still quite spicy but the overall weight, texture and dried fruity vibes are lovely. Finish: good length, on coconut, herbal teas, heather honey and peppery spice again. Fancier malbec, in a more traditional way.
Firm tannin frames a deeply juicy, dark berries, choc-cherried, spicy/herbal, dusty, truffley wine.
