Batch No.1s are more desirable for some, especially collectors, plus this has the added attraction of being a birthday bottling. Drinkers sometimes find that first batches feature the best liquid available at the time, with subsequent batches often not quite stacking up. Whether or not that's true, this is the second oldest release to date in the distillery's long-running Ibisco Decanter series, and no doubt intended to celebrate everything that Andrew Symington adores about extreme sherry-matured malts. The outturn was 1287 bottles from two first-fill oloroso sherry butts. 56.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
