British Navy Pussers Navy Rum (700ml)GUYANA$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenABV: 40%Rum and the sea are inseparable, and no rum is more akin to the sea and the seaman than is British Navy Pusser’s Rum. For more than 300 years, sailors of Great Britain’s Royal Navy were issued a daily ration of rum by the Purser (corrupted to 'Pusser' by the Jack Tars). From 1655 until the traditions termination on August 1st 1970, 'Pusser’s Rum' was one of the few daily comforts afforded those early seamen of Britain's Navy as they fought across the globe to keep the Empire intact and its sea lanes open. British Navy Pusser’s Rum is the same blend of six West Indian rums as discovered during the Navy’s expeditions and served on board Their Majesties’ ships for three centuries. Today, it is still blended in accordance with the Admiralty’s exacting specifications of 1810. Pusser’s Rum was never sold or offered to the public, and if a rum connoisseur managed to acquire a tot or two, he saved it for a very special occasion.
British Navy Pusser’s Rum is expertly blended from some of the world's finest Caribbean rums. Amongst x-seamen, the consensus is that Pusser's is about as close to the authentic British Royal Navy Rum as one can obtain. Spirit connoisseurs claim Pusser's to be more like a fine brandy than a rum, with a full, rich flavour and a rare smoothness - a true sailor's delight! This is essentially a sipping rum, however its unmistakably full, rich flavour will shine through anything you care to mix it with.
Tasting note: [42% Alc./Vol batch tasted] Deep gold / copper colour with a gold hue. The nose is restrained at first offering woody, resinous scents, but is worth spending some time with to cajole out the complex aromas of liquorice all sorts, brown sugar, citrus zest and pine nuts. The rich, spicy palate offers flavours of clove, vanilla bean, juicy raisins, honey and nutmeg. Pure, smooth and gently warming. Long aftertaste of honeycomb, toffee and liquorice all sorts with a subtle, drying cocoa fade. A well poised dark rum - full flavoured without becoming over-sweet or fat.
Other reviews... Deep amber color. Rubber sap, marinated vinegar, caramel taffy, ad brown spice aromas. A round entry leads to a glycerous off-dry medium-to full bodied palate with sherried brown spices, mineral spirits, roasted Brazil nuts, cedar, and toffee. Finishes with a touch of shellac, exotic peppercorn, and very spicy heat. A very hearty, traditional navy rum.

Paul Giraud VSOP Cognac (700ml)Cognac, FRANCE$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 40%The Giraud family have been growing grapes around France since 1650, yet only decided to produce Cognac under their own name in the 1980s. A long time associate of Giraud informed us "Giraud became frustrated selling his thirty-five year old cognacs to Remy-Martin. His cognac was destined to become a part of the blend, Louis XV [currently selling for around A$2000.] This was a very brave move during such times - he was one of the first to do so, but we are thankful he did, he paved the way for many more to come."
The VSOP is an eight year old expression produced from Ugni Blanc, Folle Blance and Colombard grapes grown on the Giraud family's vineyards located in the heart of Grande Champagne.Tasting note: Pale gold with pale straw hue. Ripe, lifted stone fruit aromas, in particular apricot and pear over some heavier dried fig scents with a touch of anise emerging. The light to medium bodied palate offers soft, semi sweet flavours of dried fruits with a touch of honey before turning dry. Very soft, smooth and gently warming mouthfeel. Peppery, spicy, cedary oak aftertaste with a subtle dried fig fade. A good lighter style. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews...soft aromas of clay, white grapes, and banana; aeration fails to further develop the bouquet, which is disappointing. Palate entry is medium-bodied, satiny and properly toffee-like; midpalate tastes include oak, sawdust, white raisins, figs and almonds. Ends well with good fruit-acid balance and elegance. 85-89 points. Very Good/Recommended - www.wineenthusiast.comsize>

Ancient tea and spice routes both shaped historic civilisations and their impact can still be felt today in Tea Rooms around the world, with beverages such as Masala Chai, spiced milk tea, being sought after globally as well as providing a major influence to this bottling. Other ingredients include Black Tea, Yerba Mate, hazelnut, citrus peel, vanilla and ginger root. 38% Alc./Vol. No tasting notes available. - Tia Maria Liqueur (700ml)UNITED KINGDOM$46. 99Bottle$563.88 DozenABV: 20%Tia Maria is one of the world’s biggest selling coffee liqueurs. Other reviews... Mahogany hue. Coffee grounds nose. A thick entry leads to a somewhat sweet and syrupy, full -bodied palate with true, next-day-Colombian-coffee flavor and well integrated fresh cane sugar. Finishes cleanly with a good interplay of bitter coffee flavor and caney sweetness.

[La Latilla Estate tasted] Clear pale straw, almost waterlike. 3-4 minutes of air contact builds the bouquet to moderate aromas of balsa wood, pineapple husk, brine and herbal, tarragon / thyme-like scents. Smooth and salty delivery with mildly fruity, waxy, briny flavours and a warming, vibrant, white pepper and sappy agave finish showing impressive length. ...The aroma on this single-estate Tequila is reminiscent of a very lightly peated whiskey, mingling smoke and pepper with a light caramel note. Calle 23 Blanco 100% Agave Tequila (700ml)Jalisco, MEXICO$109. 99Bottle$1319.88 DozenABV: 40%Closure: CorkCalle 23 is the brainchild of French Bio-chemist Sophie Decobecq. Her expertise in her studied field has lead her to experiment with various yeast strains, in turn creating a range of distinguishable tequilas. Agave is grown and produced in Zapotlanejo, the highlands of Jalisco where they are slowly cooked in stainless steel autoclaves for a period 7 hours. The cooked agave is then distilled in stainless steel pot stills to approximately 54%. Reposado and Anejo styles are aged for 8 and 16 months respectively in Jack Daniels and Heaven Hill ex-bourbon casks until being bottled with distillery well water. The blanco presents a clear slightly glycerous appearance. Complexity unfolds with time in the glass; black pepper, fresh lime, salt and herbaceous / fresh horseradish like notes are wrapped in a soft, smokey blanket. In the mouth, a mild peppery attack leads into medium dry, intensely herbal, sappy, pine-like flavours that quickly dry out. Gently warming spirit. Excellent balance. Persistent, clean, dry, cut crass and white pepper aftertaste. A distinctively green, gently peppery blanco. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Aromas of dried fruits, roasted peppers and root vegetables, and delicate spices. Soft and silky with a dry-yet-fruity light-to-medium body. Cinnamon bark, citrus zest, minerals, straw, and chili peppers twinkle on the long, warming finish. Nice vibrancy.

2013 Penfolds GrangeSouth Australia, AUSTRALIA$999. 00Bottle$11988.00 DozenCellar: 10 - 20 Years (2027-2037)ABV: 14.5%Closure: CorkThe 2013 Penfolds Grange is a blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon with maturation taking place in new American oak hogsheads for 20 months. Amazing colour saturation, its core a totally impenetrable inky black with an equally deep dark red black hue. Alluring and powerful, heady scents of liquorice, dark chocolate, ripe blackberries and dark plum waft out the glass overlaid by vanillin oak, mocha, a faint whiff of boot leather and spice. Magnificently rich and concentrated, lush black fruit flavours including blackberries, liquorice, dark plums and dark chocolate run into a wall of rippling muscular tannins that imparts some firmness to the finish. Nuances of mocha, vanillin oak, earth and spice add further intrigue. Very long and persistent aftertaste of liquorice, ripe blackberries, dark plum, dark chocolate, earthy vanillin oak and spicy mocha. A powerful, brawny Grange that requires at least a decade of cellaring.
Cellar 10-20 years.
Alc. 14.5%Other Reviews…
Remember that old Heinz Ketchup “anticipation” ad from the 1970s? The palate of this 2013 Grange does just that. It makes you wait with so much delicious promise being drip fed into the mouth at first—and then it bursts forth and delivers!
This vintage is a blend of 96% Shiraz and 4% Cabernet Sauvignon, coming from the Barossa Valley, McLaren Vale, Coonawarra and Magill Estate. Very deep inky purple-black colored, the 2013 Grange has a profoundly scented nose of crème de cassis, preserved black plums, blueberry pie and licorice over nuances of baker’s chocolate, smoky bacon and fragrant earth, plus exotic spice wafts of cumin seed, cardamom, fenugreek and star anise. Unfurling and slowly building in the medium to full-bodied mouth with wonderful grace and depth, it reveals an incredible array of ripe black fruit, spice, meat and earth-inspired flavors, with a rock-solid frame to support this beauty (it should easily cellar for 40+ years!), while previously latent flavors emerge fully on the epically long finish, culminating in that ultimate Grange experience. Oh, yes. Drink 2024-2057.

Founded by John G. Boker in 1828, Boker’s Bitters gained popularity in New York and around the World as the finest bitters of the Golden Age of mixed drinks (1860-1920). Boker’s Bitters were famously the preferred brand of Professor Jerry Thomas and featured throughout his book, ‘How to Mix Drinks or The Bon Vivant’s Companion’, now recognised as the World’s first bartender’s guide. Despite being unequalled when used in the refined drinks of the bar, the devastating effect of Prohibition closed the Boker’s company in the 1920s.
What initially started as a quest for knowlege has today resulted into a re-emergence of Bokers Bitters by Adam Elmegirab of the Evo-Lution consultancy, with seemingly successful results. This rendition comprises of seven botanicals including orange peel, quassia bark, catechu, cardamom and mallow flowers.

Classified as a 'Fine Champagne' cognac, fruit is sourced from the region's two best crus: Grand Champagne (55%) and Petit Champagne (45%). Ninety seven percent of the eaux-de-vie is distilled from Ugni Blanc, the remainder from Colombard and Folle Blanche.
Other reviews... Elegant nose of orange peel, pralines, vanilla bean, dried flowers, and dark chocolate. Semisweet and opulent on the palate, cocoa persists along with hints of Brazil nuts, sea salted caramel, and red berries before a structured, stately finish with fine-grained oak tannins and spice ensues. 94 points / Excellent, Highly Recommended - Ultimate Spirits Challenge 2021
"Quite a bit of fruit and floral notes on the nose, which comes as no surprise given its age, or lack thereof. A touch of woody aromas and barrel spices, but predominantly focused on the sweet young fruit. The cognac starts off sweet and round, but does finish on the dry and spicy side and a touch boozy. This is one that would do just fine in a mixed drink or bringing to a holiday party to jump-start winter punches and egg nogs." - distiller.com
...Good value for money Fine Champagne. Colour: Dark honey with a plummy rim. Nose: An immediate hit of aeroplane glue transforms into egg yolk and ginger bread spice notes. Palate: Still quite alcoholic with some bitter elements confirming the spice and finishing with hints of green apple, spearmint and hazelnut. Comment: A beginner’s Cognac, best drunk as an accompaniment to a sweet, preferably chocolaty, dessert. - Franz Scheurer, AGT Wine Magazine, Cognac Tasting 2005.
Notes from Remy... Deep golden yellow in colour (old pale). Nose of vanilla, oak, and apricot jam, developing more intense floral, hazelnut, apricot notes. Tasting note: Produced from muscat grapes. Crystal clear with a glossy, silvery appearance. Perfumed opening aromas are sweet and fruity, at first reminiscent of young muscat. Aeration intensifies the aromas as they take on an unexpectedly tropical fruit edge that’s one part lychee and one part passionfruit / feijoa with a slice of banana thrown in. Wow! Entry is soft and semi sweet, mildly glycerous. The mid palate develops with terrific length, as pear tart, lychee and feijoa flavours are accompanied by a spicy flourish. Tasting note: Impressive polished mahogany / copper colour. Fleeting flashes of sulphur are dissolved into layers of dried fruits as fig, apricot and vanilla vie for attention; levels into a lower-key fruit cake focussed bouquet in the later passes. A light entry leads into a mildly tannic fruit cake-like profile, with the sweetness tempered by balancing spices and drying oak. Tannins reassert at the finish as the fruit cake flavours subside. Nice textural qualities and plenty of ‘old school’ sherry influence here. Think GlenDronach in mid to late teens and you get the picture. 46% Alc./Vol. Other reviews... Two out of three ain't bad. - Inside Bordeaux by Jane Anson$169. 00Bottle$2028.00 Dozen
It’s easy to think that Bordeaux lacks the romance of Burgundy – a region more about money and marketing, rather than terroir.
But Jane Anson’s new book Inside Bordeaux proves just how much that isn’t the case. A definitive guide to the region – and companion volume to Jasper Morris MW’s Inside Burgundy - the 700-page book digs below the surface of the region to look at the people and terroir that make Bordeaux so exciting today.
As Adam Lechmere wrote in his review for Club Oenologique, this is “a book no Bordeaux lover should be without”.
Dr Jamie Goode also praises this book stating "Few wine books can be described as category busters. This term refers to the situation where competitors are totally outflanked in business: someone is doing something so well, or has such good first-mover advantage, that they rule a particular category, and can’t be beaten. There are three that have done this in the past: Hugh Johnson’s World Atlas of Wine; Jancis Robinson’s Oxford Companion to Wine; and the Vouillamoz/Harding/Robinson collaboration Wine Grapes. Now there’s a fourth: Jane Anson’s Inside Bordeaux."

Caribou Crossing Single Barrel Canadian Whisky (750ml)CANADA$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 40%NB: This is supplied without the gift box shown, and has damage to the wax seal but is still securely unopened.
New Canadian whiskies are a rarity in Australia. This one arrives with an unusual pedigree, succintly explained by Davin de Kergommeaux, a certified Malt Maniac and trained sommelier who has been enthusing about whisky as an independent commentator for more than a dozen years - in particular, Canadian Whisky. Visit his website at http://www.canadianwhisky.org. Here's Davin's introduction...
"Caribou Crossing is the first single-barrel Canadian Whisky produced by a major whisky company since the 19th century. That was the time when people would arrive at Canadian distilleries with jugs to be filled straight from the barrel. The now infamous Bush Pilot’s, from the late 1990s, was also bottled one barrel at a time, a fact that contributed to its legendary status among the whisky cognoscenti. Caribou Crossing Single Barrel, from the Sazerac Company/Buffalo Trace, now advances this concept further, drawing its very best whisky from an inventory of over 200,000 barrels produced for it by several prominent Canadian distilleries.
For Caribou Crossing, Sazerac’s Master Blender Drew Mayville selected the most mature and flavour-rich of these barrels and oversaw the bottling of each individual barrel. Each barrel has its own unique subtleties so identifying each barrel with a number on the package would help whisky lovers find bottles from different barrels and be able to compare them. Since this is single-barrel bottling, there are no laser codes on the bottle to help the more obsessive find different batches.
“Our goal was to put forth the highest-quality whisky available and to give consumers a new way to look at Canadian Whisky,” Mayville said when he introduced Caribou Crossing earlier this year. “We are very proud of the end result and hope these new products will foster a greater appreciation among consumers for what Canadian whisky can be.” If market acceptance is any indication, Mayville seems to have achieved his goal quite nicely. Not only has Caribou Crossing won accolades from prominent whisky writers, it has sold well enough that a second batch was soon required to replenish empty shelves".
And Davin's thoughts on the whisky? In short, "Creamy vanilla, a dusting of rye spices, bursts of citrus and a veritable tsunami of fresh-cut wood. Soft Corn. Very Highly Recommended.5 stars".
Bottled in Kentucky, Caribou Crossing comes beautifully packaged in a 'Rock Hill Farms' style decanter bottle with a Blanton's-type wax sealed stopper.
Tasting note: Burnished copper / brass appearance. Appealing bouquet includes notes of charry oak, toasted marshmallow and vanilla. Time in the glass draws out more cocoa and distinct spicy rye. Entry is silky, leading into a light to medium bodied profile of vanilla, sweet cereals and drying oak. Exceptionally soft. A touch of spice and rye emerges on the finish. Overall quite delicate and definitely drier than most Canadians. Mild aftertaste of toasted marshmellow. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... For those of you who think Canadian whiskies are thin and bland, you might want to give this whisky a try. No, it’s not a new concept in Canadian whisky, like Forty Creek. It’s still very much a “traditional” Canadian whisky. But, when compared to most traditional Canadian whiskies, it richer, creamier, and velvety smooth. The flavors are straightforward—primarily vanilla, with some crème brulee, toasted marshmallow, tangerine, peaches & cream, and gentle rye spice—but they are clean and well-balanced. A delicious, lighter-style whisky just in time for warm weather. Two additional notes: This is single barrel whisky. There’s no way of identifying the cask, as far as I know. I’m hoping that all the barrels taste as good as the one I have, but I just wanted to make you aware of this. Advanced Malt Advocate magazine rating: 93 points. - John Hansell, www.maltadvocate.com

This is essentially the same gin as Hernö's standard issue which employs eight botanicals, except Old Tom has extra British Meadowsweet added during the distillation. Like adding vinegar to temper the sweetness and round out the flavour of certain dishes, adding bitters to cocktails can provide balance and complexity while increasing aromatics. Fee Brothers continue to expand their portfolio of unusual bitters. Generally, we've found their products to be more pungent than other bitters on the market, so they offer fantastic value for money by being used sparingly.

The Tatiarra Trademark Shiraz was created from a desire by winemaker Ben Riggs to produce a new Australian wine icon, which could be compared favourably with other great Australian wine icons such as Grange and Hill of Grace. The rationale was to bring together the juxtaposing qualities of Heathcote Shiraz and McLaren Vale Shiraz which would reflect each region’s terroir in a new and exceptional way. The Shiraz from Heathcote, which like the top Shiraz from McLaren Vale has incredibly inky black colour, the underlying difference between the two regions is fruit flavour and palate structure. The wines of McLaren Vale tend to be more voluptuous, almost pure fruit bombs but do not have the finesse and tannin structure that the wines from Heathcote deliver. The pure concentration of the black pepper and red berry flavours of Heathcote compliment the rich “joosy” character of the McLaren Vale. The result of Ben’s dream is Trademark Shiraz.

- 1987 Glenmorangie Margaux Cask Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$2999. 00Bottle$35988.00 DozenABV: 46%
Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product pictured.
For more than ten years, Glenmorangie, renowned Scottish malt whiskey distiller, has been pioneering the use of different types of casks in which to finish the maturation of malt whisky. Their quest is to find the ultimate aging nuance. With the release of the Margaux finish, they may well have accomplished that. The unique marriage of grape and grain offers flavours from both the wine absorbed in the maturation barracks and the unique characteristics of the wood itself. Chateau Margaux, the famous Bordeaux First Growth wine producer, sources barrels made from the Tronçais oak forest in central France, originally planted in the 17th century by Louis XIV. The climate in this region produces trees of smaller diameter which provide a fine grain and high tannin content. Powerful wood-derived flavours have been imparted into the floral, fruity complexity of the whisky. Master distiller, Mr. Bill Lumsden describes the whisky in the following words: "Zesty orange, apple and ginger wine notes flood through before deeper hints of spicy black pepper and cinnamon intertwine to give an overall combination of boldness and subtlety that perfectly captures the spirited essence of Scotland and the passionate soul of France.” Realize that Margaux Hemmingway was conceived over a bottle of Chateau Margaux, the wine. Approach this whisky with similar caution!
Only 3511 bottles were ever produced of this 1987 vintage which marries the finest French winemaking heritage with one of Scotland’s favourite malt whiskies. Packed like the Crown Jewels in a clear acrylic display case standing on a black plinth, with each bottle accompanied by a booklet that tells the story of the journey taken to create this exciting whisky. Each bottle is hand numbered and signed by Bill Lumsden, Glenmorangie Master Distiller. Very rare.
Notes from Glenmorangie... Autumn gold with russet highlights. Marshmallow, creamy fudge and milk chocolate. Fruit emerged as toffee apples and caramelised oranges. With water, clementines, tangerines, a tang of sherbet, pineapples, passion fruit, peaches and rich double cream. Full mouthfeel, brambles, blackcurrants, melon, spicy notes of gingerbread with dark bitter chocolate and hints of espresso. Long, lingering slightly dry finish. 46% Alc./Vol.

Small batch bitters are surely making their mark on the cocktail scene, with cocktail enthusiasts and bartenders rediscovering the long lost recipes of the golden era and coming up with new signature flavours which help create the palate of the New Age Cocktail.
While living in San Francisco in early 2007, Avery and Janet Glasser used high proof spirit and a variety of herbs, peels and spices to create what would be their prototype recipe for the Xocolatl Mole Bitters and catalyst for their new venture.
The summer of 2010 marked a dramatic rebirth for Bittermens: winding down previous licensing agreements, striking new partnerships (i.e. The Bitter Truth) developing new products and most importantly, leasing a commercial kitchen. All Bittermens products are now being made by hand at their Brooklyn facility using primarily organic ingredients.
Avid beer drinkers may be aware that certain varieties of hops, when used in high concentration, deliver a strong grapefruit flavor. Bittermans have decided to use the grapefruity quality of high alpha-acid hops along with grapefruit peel to create a concoction with layer upon layer of vegetal bitterness aptly named Hopped Grapefruit Bitters. This style of bitters is designed to enhance young (white/silver) rums, tequilas and mezcal, the grapefruit bitters play well with most cocktails where you need a little citrus punch. Try it in a daiquiri, gimlet, or even a gin and tonic (with a splash of maraschino).

Aultmore of the Foggie Moss 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$119. 99Bottle$1439.88 DozenABV: 46%Aultmore is located in Keith, Banffshire. Its name is a derived from the phrase 'An t-Allt Mòr'', Gaelic for big burn, referring to its water source, the Auchinderran burn. It was founded in 1895 by Alexander Edward, then owner of the Benrinnes distillery. In 1998, after a patchy history, the distillery was sold to Bacardi subsidiary, Dewars, which had previously owned Aultmore between 1923 and 1925. Aultmore produced their first official bottling, a 12 year old, in 2004. The house style is typically light and fruity with most of the wood employed being American oak. Tasting note: Pale gold. Minor sediment. Ripe pear and apple tart followed by hints of hay; the aroma is partly obscured by the tingly spirit lift. Almost the concentration of a cask strength with big beefy malt and a peppery attack. A little thin and acidic towards the finish, but nice underlying drier styled malt peeks through. Some light water biscuit and dried grass notes in the aftertaste. 46% Alc./Vol. Other reviews...The youngest bottling in Dewar’s new line up of malts from its Aultmore distillery, near Keith, this expression offers a nose of peaches and lemonade, freshly-mown grass, linseed and milky coffee. Suntory Hakushu 12 Year Old Single Malt Japanese Whisky (700ml)Hokuto, Yamanashi, JAPAN$350. 00Bottle$4200.00 DozenABV: 43%"A unique composition and a quintessential Japanese whisky experience." - whiskyadvocate.com
At the 2010 World Whisky Awards, whiskies from Japan won prizes in two of the top three categories for Scottish-styles. It was a turning point of sorts, yet those in the know weren't surprised; Japanese whiskies have been snapping up awards at international competitions for decades. The problem has been keeping up with international demand (the majority has traditionally been consumed within Japan). The situation has now changed with Suntory significantly increasing exports. A key role is played by their Hakushu distillery (pronounced "Hack-shoo"), one of the largest malt whisky distilleries not only in Japan, but in the world. Built in 1973 coinciding with Suntory's 50th anniversary, it's set amidst spectacular pine forests close to the Japanese Alps. Suntory also purchased the distillery surrounds to protect water quality and conserve the local environment. In fact, water from the district is considered the best in Japan, something Suntory have capitalised on by bottling and selling it throughout the country. Barley required for single malt production is reportedly imported from Scotland or elsewhere (including countries like France, England and Australia). Due to the height above sea level (700m), low pressure distillation occurs naturally, said to contribute to the light, fruity style. The latest renovations mean a variety of stills with different shapes, sizes, lyne arm orientations, heating methods and condenser types are geared towards diversity and quality rather than quantity. The resulting whiskies make a significant contribution to Suntory's large number of malts and blends.
The 12 year old Hakushu is considered a fine introduction to Japanese styles for those who enjoy smokey malts, though the degree of smokiness is said to vary from batch to batch. Our tasting from 2014 found a bright gold coloured whisky with restrained aromatics yielding faint suggestions of toast and honey. Several minutes adds muted scents of sponge cake without budging the intensity. The whisky tastes semi-sweet with a juicy feel and a lipsmacking, biscuity mid-palate hollowing towards the finish with some late sweetness and delicate oils entering. It's clean and crisp making for a nice aperitif; you could also describe it as youthful and vibrant, but not peaty. See Whisky Advocate's notes below for notes on a more recent bottling.
Other reviews... Fragrant and herbal aromas, with pine needles, basil, green bell pepper, pea pod, black truffle, peppercorn, and smoke from smoldering dry mosses and wood shavings. It’s very smooth and refreshing, with pear, peppermint, lemon, lime, green tea, kiwi, and herbal notes, finishing with chopped mint, more herbal layers, and gentle peppery spice. A unique composition and a quintessential Japanese whisky experience. [2023 tasting] 91 points - whiskyadvocate.com
A floral nose, slightly smoky, with some brine. Huge flavour in the mouth, toffee, fruit and peat smoke. This could almost be Caol Ila. The finish is medium, smoky, with drying notes of oak. An extremely well structured, traditional malt whisky. - www.whisky-pages.com
...Light amber/marigold color; excellent purity. Smells of sawdust and pecans in the opening sniffs, plus a bit of summer flower garden (carnation) and spice (nutmeg); there’s an acute nuttiness to the aerated bouquet that becomes more like candle wax with further exposure to air; intriguing and unique. Entry taste is cocoa-like, bittersweet and nicely textured, almost oily (a plus); midpalate stage reveals an intensely grainy core flavor that’s both astringent, slightly sweet and caramel-like. Concludes in a stately manner that’s bittersweet, honeyed and refreshing. A superb blended whisky. Highly Recommended www.spiritjournal.com

The Whistler 7 Year Old Natural Cask Strength Single Malt Irish Whiskey (700ml)IRELAND$199. 99Bottle$2399.88 DozenABV: 59%Tasting note: Whistler's 'all natural' edition has a tell-tale cask strength nose feel - prickly, vapoury alcohol and bittersweet notes of orange zest settle into old leather, Christmas pudding, chocolate box and caramel fudge. The fruity malt seems more Bourbon-soaked than the nose. After the initial attack, Oloroso peeks through in a thick, oily, warming, gently bitter surge. The spicy finish turns fruity with plum then banana bread late in the the aftertaste. Big Irish. Experiment with a few drops of water. Non chill filtered. 59% Alc./Vol. Other reviews... This dials up the aromas so high it could freshen up a stadium. After a riot of bright fruits, paradise slice, nutmeg, cinnamon, dates, and raisin, the palate becomes awash with apple and rose hip, though the strength makes it a wild ride, the tongue is conquered into submission. Diluted, it shines with vanilla sponge cake, plum, malt, and spicy nutmeg. Beautiful whiskey, just needs to be pegged back a bit. 89 points

Crown Royal was originally created to commemorate the Royal visit to Canada by Britains King George VI and Queen Elizabeth in 1939, and has since become the biggest selling Canadian whisky in the United States. The distillery stores an astonishing 1.25 million barrels and incorporates up to 50 different whiskies in its final blend. The pure water of Lake Winnipeg in Gimli, Manitoba is an essential ingredient in the production.
Tasting notes: Bright gold with a gold ochre hue. The nose is a virtual merry go round of spice and fruit with pineapple and banana between flashes of spicy rye, vanilla and creme caramel. Imagine your favourite American Rye, only slimmed down, smooth and ultra sexy. This is seductive stuff from the get go and the palate doesn’t let up. Sweet baked apple and custard like flavours are served up in a gently warming, spicy wrap with impeccable balance. Gold 999.9 Gin (700ml)SPAIN$99. 99Bottle$1199.88 DozenABV: 40%A homage to a gin created in the early 20th century which was said to have been made in a pot still made of gold. At the time, excavation works were taking place in Alsace where a site with antique valuables was found. Amongst them was a gold pot still. After these objects were deemed to have no historical value, they were put on sale. One of the buyers was an amateur distiller, a man who immediately fell in love with the still. He spent years of his life looking for the perfect spirit, finally creating a gin with tangerine and hints of vanilla and almonds. He named this special spirit Gold 999.9 as he considered it to be his liquid gold. Botanicals include juniper, almond, vanilla, cassia bark, gentian violet, poppy, tangerine, coriander, violet flowers and angelica root. The colour is bright gold with pale straw edges. On the nose there's big citrus input; think orange cake or tangerine peel and possibly hints of chamomile. Given more time in the glass and it essentially smells like triple-sec. The entry is light following through to a medium dry, juicy orange cake / citrus peel profile that finishes dry, delicate and gently warming. Call it contemporary, 999.9 is undeniably very orange dominant - to the point of being hard to classify as gin. 40% Alc./Vol.
