Monkey 47 Barrel Cut Schwarzald Gin (500ml)
    Lossburg, GERMANY
    $119. 99
    Bottle
    $1439.88 Dozen
    ABV: 47%

After several years of sensory research and experimentation with all kinds of wood, the distillers at Monkey 47 have adopted a very traditional approach in the hunt for the perfect barrel-aged gin. Produced a few times each year, this limited edition expression is aged in new 110 litre, custom made, slightly toasted mulberry barrels for 180 days. Long forgotten, the rare wood of the mulberry tree was once traditionally used to mature the finest distillates the Black Forest had to offer. This highly aromatic wood is one the most redolent timbers available. It also contributes to the gin's unique colour and aroma while adding a hint of sweetness. Unfiltered. 47% Alc./Vol.

    Monkey 47 Distiller's Cut 2016 Release Schwarzald Gin (500ml)
    GERMANY
    $175. 00
    Bottle
    $2100.00 Dozen
    ABV: 47%
Following on from the huge success of their standard bottling; the team at Monkey 47 up the ante with a "Distiller's Cut" - a vintage release that's limited to 4000 bottles.  Distillers Cut also incorporates one special ingredient into the mix for every vintage, with 2016 highlighting local honey. Black Forest Distillers chose a special honey for the job – the Schaberhof’s own Abietes Melle! The term “fir honey” generally refers to honey made from honeydew. This substance is produced by bees that collect the sugary, high-fibre excretions of scale insects (which is actually what honeydew is). Particularly noteworthy among culinary experts is honeydew honey from the silver fir tree (lat. Abies alba), which is a common sight in the Black Forest. Fir honey typically has a strong, tangy flavour and a greenish-black hue when held up against the light. The end result is a zesty, yet elegant dry gin with delicate, herbal top notes and a potent middle register.

Beautifully packaged in an old world apothecary bottle, like its sibling, this is produced in the Black Forest, Germany from no less than 47 botanicals (mostly from the region), distilled again and matured for three months in earthenware containers. Unusual ingredients include blackberry leaves, sloes, honeysuckle, pine shoots, cranberries and lingonberries. 47% Alc./Vol.

    Musgrave Pink Gin (750ml)
    SOUTH AFRICA
    $110. 00
    Bottle
    $1320.00 Dozen
    ABV: 43%
Musgrave's Pink Gin boasts all of the characteristics of Musgrave 11, only it's less spicy, instead, accenting the floral notes of the rosehips and the infused rosewater.

The rose is an eternal symbol of love and passion. Rose-scented oils still grace festive occasions and beauty regimes. Musgrave pink celebrates this flower of love and beauty employing the source of the rose, 'rose hip', which complements Musgrave's spicy nature. It's then infused with rose water for its timeless perfume.

Tasting note: The aroma offers an attractive rose water aspect while retaining more traditional notes of juniper, white pepper and chamomile. Follows through in a light to medium bodied gin, with low-key spice, juniper and citrus lozenge flavours through the warming finish. Beautifully packaged floral design. 43% Alc./Vol.
    Musgrave 11 Gin (750ml)
    SOUTH AFRICA
    $110. 00
    Bottle
    $1320.00 Dozen
    ABV: 43%
An African gin which includes indigenous botanicals such as African Ginger (Whitei Mondei) and Grains of Paradise, reminiscent of the perfume of spice markets.

African ginger roots taste like ginger or liquorice but have a vanilla-like aroma. For a long time they've been extensively used in traditional medicine as an antacid and a boosting tonic.
Grains of Paradise, also native to Africa, are woody and forest-like to smell, with a peppery warmth absent of the harshness of black pepper. The woodiness gives way to cloves, cinnamon and a faint hint of cardamom. In total eleven botanicals make up the mix in Musgrave gin, as implied by the label. 43% Alc./Vol.

Natural Distilling Co Hemp Gin (700ml)
    Gippsland, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
    $89. 99
    Bottle
    $1079.88 Dozen
    ABV: 40%
A keen interest in whisky combined with a degree in science and a 55 year old dairy vat kick-started Rhys Staley's 2015 distilling project. Locally grown Gippsland ingredients formed the foundations, but when the Federal government legalised hemp in 2017, Rhys put innovation on the agenda. A license to grow hemp and 20-40 recipe trials later, the family and friends team released their first hemp based spirits. Both the gin and vodka are gluten-free, sugar-free, lactose-free and free from chemical additives, providing a natural hemp highlight.

Tasting note: One of an increasing number of hemp gins, this highlights the cannabis terpene 'Limonene'. Ripe Myer lemons lean towards fresh mandarine peel on the nose. The theme continues in a medium bodied, citrus forward style, ending with flavours of limoncello and gentle spice. Very approachable neat, or try it with tonic and a citrus garnish. 40% Alc./Vol.

    NB Gin (700ml)
    SCOTLAND
    $84. 99

    $1019.88 Dozen
    ABV: 42%
More and more of Scotland's distilleries are now producing gin. NB (short for 'North Berwick'), was launched in 2013. Made by husband and wife distillers, Vivienne and Steve Muir in batches of less than 100 litres, it quickly won admirers and was even voted the Best London Dry Gin in the world for 2015. Produced in a custom made still from grain spirit and eight botanicals including juniper, coriander seed, angelica root, grains of paradise, lemon peel, cassia bark, cardamom and orris root.

Tasting note: Clear. Highly aromatic with a piney juniper / citrus medley followed by earthy, root vegetable, coriander and a complex, medium dry, junipery profile that includes cardamom and white pepper; Finishes with menthol / citrus peel lingering in the aftertaste. A classic, pure and refreshing style. 42% Alc./Vol.

    $1019.88 Dozen
    ABV: 58%
Tasting note: Up there with the world's best gins, the 2018 Juniper Freak is massive in every sense offering the kind of texture, definition, poise and persistence that astonishes with every sip. Possibly even more intense than last years (more citrus too?), the aroma circles round and round in a whirlpool of imploding juniper. It's a melting pot of oily, piney flavours with a citrus lozenge-like finish that seemingly never ends. Put it on your short list of gins to try before you die. 58% Alc./Vol.

2017 batch tasted... Clear. Like a creme-de-juniper with one of the most pungent gin bouquets of the year: Wonderfully dense, oily, pure and super-fresh; 2-3 minutes of swirling in the glass releases hints of pine resin, green cardamom, coriander and lemon meringue, the nose only trumped by the whopping delivery: Intense yet with tremendous definition, balance and length; Sappy, piney, peppery, oily-yet-fresh and ultimately, deeply invigorating. Cool mint through the prolonged aftertaste. Juniper to the absolute max.

Never Never Distilling Co. Triple Juniper Gin (500ml)
    South Australia, AUSTRALIA
    $68. 99
    Bottle
    $827.88 Dozen
    ABV: 43%
The “Never Never” label speaks of the Australian bush and its people, but also something otherworldly. Established in 2016, the aim of the project is “not just to create delicious spirits, but to make the most flavoursome spirits on the market.”

Combining the talents of George Georgiadis, Sean Baxter and Tim Boast, their Triple Juniper gin employs air-freighted berries for maximum freshness. The juniper is treated in three distinct ways, partially steeped, partially in the pot and partially in the vapour. The aim is to capture both the bright and the earthy qualities, and to balance the massive juniper input, a few other botanicals are used: Australian coriander provides brighter citrus and less earthiness than its English or Indian counterparts. A predominate fresh lemon citrus influence with a touch of fresh lime and liquorice adds lift over a root base of angelica and orris. Native pepperberry provides a balancing, savoury element without the heavy menthol finish of traditional peppers. Finally a hint of cinnamon hits just the right amount of warmth.

Tasting note: [Batch 1 tasted] Plush and oily, juniper-heavy aromas combine with citrus, fresh sawn pine, coriander, faint anise and white pepper warmth. Follows through with a silky wave of juniper gelato, citrus peel and delicate pepper-cinnamon warmth. Leaner and more linear to finish; the spice and lime pick up where the juniper trails off. Excellent length. 43% Alc./Vol.

"Dark Series" represents Never Never’s small batch experimental spirits. Over time, the plan is to retain some of these as part of the core range. Others may be one offs. Sub labelled “Juniper Freak”, this high strength edition represents a limited run of just under 200 bottles.

Tasting note: [Batch 4 tasted] One of the biggest gin bouquets of the year... Earthy, piney juniper in the most dense form imaginable, backed up by pepper and herbal-menthol freshness. Keeps on giving after 4-5 minutes in the glass with nuances of lime peel and orris root. This saturates the tongue with a creamy, cool-mint fresh, juniper dense attack and a cleansing, drying, super long finish. Mild alcohol flare, with anise cleverly woven through the aftertaste. A juniper bomb. 54% Alc./Vol.

Named for "New Amsterdam", the original European name for New York when under Dutch rule. This is a lighter styled gin with subdued juniper input.

Blends particularly well into lightly fruity and citrusy cocktails and gin-based punches. 95 points - www.wineenthusiast.com

New World Projects Small Batch Korenwijn Seasonal Gin (700ml)
    Essendon, Victoria, AUSTRALIA
    $74. 99
    Bottle
    $899.88 Dozen
    ABV: 43.5%
The latest creation from the New World Projects styles itself on the Dutch origins of Gin. Known as Genever, the chief point of difference to London Dry is the spirit base used in Dutch Gin which, unlike its UK counterparts, is not a completely tasteless neutral grain spirit. Genevers are distilled in pot stills from a mash containing rye, barley and corn which on distillation produces some congeners normally associated with whisky.

New World Projects have combined triple distilled malt spirit with a hefty dose of juniper and a light dressing of caraway, aniseed and coriander to balance and add complexity. Bottled at 43.5% to preserve some of the oilier spirit characters the gin shows a more savoury style than most with hints of pine needles and pickles.

Tasting note: Clear. Engaging scents of dark rye bread over light white pepper and background piney / juniper. Ovaltine? Soft, well rounded delivery is mildly oily in texture; subtle flavours of caraway infused rye, coriander seed and Fisherman's Friend lozenge are followed by a peppery, dill and green olive accented finish. Impressive length and balance. A delicious and cleverly composed expression of an old world classic - limited to 239 bottles. 43.5% Alc./Vol.

    No.209 Gin (700ml)
    San Francisco, California, UNITED STATES
    $99. 99
    Bottle
    $1199.88 Dozen
    ABV: 46%

The Rudd family came up with the original idea for No. 209 Gin. Their background is in wine and fine food - they own both Rudd Oakville Estate Winery and Dean & DeLuca - so meticulous attention to detail and focus on quality is second nature to them. When they embarked upon the exploratory research for this gin endeavor, they assembled a team with sophisticated palates and a passion for excellence, years of alcoholic beverage experience (not simply on the consumption side), youthful exuberance and drive. From the outset, their goal was to make the finest possible gin with care and intelligence for people who think about what they drink.
Depending on who listen to, they've either succeeded or at least come very close. Even Robert Parker, otherwise known exclusively for his wine reviews felt obliged to recommend it in his Hedonist's Gazette! (see below)

209 is distilled on a pier over the water in San Francisco’s docks from 11 botanicals including bergamot orange peel from Southern Italy and more usual gin botanicals such as Guatemalan cardamom, Chinese cassia, coriander, Angelica root and, of course, Italian juniper berries. Ideal clarity showing good viscosity. Lemon gelato opening sniffs give way to lifted piney, woody aromas - in a word - classic juniper. Aeration adds further interest with hints of smokey cardamom, faint liquorice root and white pepper. Creamy entry follows through with a nicely weighted lemon mousse/ juniper and pepper profile. Finish is lively, fresh, peppery and downright moreish. Fades mildly piney with juniper and lemon peel in the aftertaste. Reserve some for the coming Spring/Summer - if you can! 46%Alc.Vol.

Other reviews...The nosing passes find generous notes of citrus zest, juniper berry, orris root, licorice, coriander and angelica. The palate entry is bittersweet, intensely grainy and speckled with licorice and orris root; at midpalate the flavor turns delightfully herbal. Finish is decidedly herbal/leafy/seed-like and, finally, bittersweet. An adult gin with an adventurous attitude. 90-95 points -wineenthusiast.com

...No. 209 Gin has formulated what it believes to be the first Kosher-for-Passover Gin…The resulting gin?...more subtle herbal aromas and more evident warm spice flavors. Different, but only slightly.” – San Francisco Chronicle, Jon Bonne

...I rarely drink hard liquor, but I must say this was the smoothest gin I have ever had. Served straight up and ice cold, it was pretty amazing…. – The Hedonist Gazette, Robert Parker

Noble Bottleggers is the creation of husband and wife team, Dan and Kristin Lemura. After working in the hospitality industry for over 20 years, they've been at the helm of some of Melbourne's finest establishments. Along the way they became obsessed with barrel aging cocktails, spirits and liqueurs. This obsession for taking both modern and classic cocktails and reinventing them evolved into the Noble Bootleggers Distilling Co. Juniper, lemon aspen, angelica root, coriander seed, lemon verbena and vanilla make up the botanical mix in this 'Contemporary' gin.

Tasting note: [Batch 1] Clear. Fairly typical London Dry with earthy juniper, angelica root, pepper and coriander over background citrus freshness. Creamy entry with soft juniper, herbal tea and citrus peel flavours lingering in a tangy, warming finish. Nice all-rounder. 40% Alc./Vol.

A new 'contemporary' style from one of the most highly regarded distillers in Holland, Nolet (the 10th generation producer behind famous brands like Ketel One Vodka). Instead of a traditional juniper accent, Nolet's Silver Dry is fruit and floral focussed (expect Turkish rose, peach, and raspberry). No doubt intended as a bridge for vodka lovers, it's also handsomely packaged in a weighty emerald green bottle.

Tasting note: Clear. Soft, floral scents with seamlessly integrated aromas of lemon mousse, rose petal, Turkish Delight and hints of lavender. Juniper is indiscernible. Entry is light, with oregano and subtle juniper-like flavours developing; mid palate ups the spices adding an unusual Turkish Delight, fruit sorbet aspect that carries through to the aftertaste. Excellent mouthfeel and balance. Completely defies conventions. Will work as a standalone sipper moreso than G&Ts. 47.6% Alc.Vol.

Other reviews... Clear with a faint nickel gray cast. Bright aromas of rose water, floral soap, and cream pie with a vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a long, juicy fruit gum, juniper, and rose sorbet driven finish. Oliver Matter are continuously developing their products. Their initial Gin Prototype #42 has been modified on several occassions. In the words of the distillers, "First of all, we lowered the fairly dominant Coriander profile and added more Hyssop. At this stage, we called it 'Hyssop Gin'. After a while we felt it was time to work on this protocol again, so we decided to add nutmeg as an additional aroma. We’re now happy with this new-found balance, with the hyssop not overpowered, but still present. The base of our Gin is found in a manual from 1954, “Rezeptesammlung für Destillateure”. This is the finest gin distilled in the London Dry style".

Botanicals include Juniper, Hyssop, Corinader, Ginger, Orange Peels and Nutmeg, macerated in a grain alcohol base before being distilled in a copper alembic.

The desire for cleaner aromatics in Gin has forced distillers to look for innovative ways to better translate botanicals into spirits. One of the techniques they have embraced is cold distillation (initially a laboratory technique to remove solvents from lab preparations).

The technique is now used in Haute Cuisine kitchens and by top mixologists to get as close as possible to their desired flavour creations without the impurities of more traditional methods. It allows for the use of fresh fruit rather than dried peels for example. In 2007, a team at Bacardi led by the food technologist Derek Greer filed a patent for a practical, industrial method of cold distillation at subzero temperatures.

Essentially, the technique consists in distilling under a vacuum, which lowers the boiling point, preserving the nuance of the more fragile compounds. Oxley is the first Gin produced on a commercial scale with this particular technique. However, with a daily production of 240 bottles, it can hardly be accused of abusing the term “craft spirit”. A true London Dry, Oxley is produced from a mix of 14 fruits and botanicals. It took 38 attempts to find the best balance and get closest to the real flavour of Juniper.

Years of experience led to the founding of their first plant in Piedmont in 1930 when Gaetano Inga decided to revive the ancient Amaro Gambarotta. Before then they had been producing grappa for the famous Libarna brand. Today, this rich family tradition is carried on by brothers, Federico and Lorenzo Inga. Their range includes this Mediterranean gin. The use of ancient techniques and local botanicals pay homage to the brother's Sicilian roots and the Island of Panarea, the ‘Queen’ of the Mediterranean.

Tasting note: [20ml sample] Impressive bouquet suggests lemon barley sugar, grapefruit, coriander and more. Big, zesty peel finish with juniper entering late. Good freshness. The emphasis is on citrus. Gluten-free with no allergens or artificial additives. 44% Alc./Vol.

    Panarea Sunset Gin (700ml)
    ITALY

    Bottle
    $1199.88 Dozen
    ABV: 44%
This gin gets its name and taste from the Aeolian Islands off the coast of Sicily, where many of the botanicals are grown. Like Panarea's 'Island' gin, it's a herbaceous style using a combination of juniper, myrtle berries, citrus peels and coriander. Two key Mediterranean ingredients are basil and grapefruit, so it's recommended with a garnish of crushed basil leaves.

Tasting note: [20ml sample] More earthy and vegetal on the nose than the 'Island' version, with aromas reminiscent of celery leaf, angelica root, split pine and light pepper. It's light, fresh and racy through the mid palate, rounding off with a citrus tang, faint juniper and lingering pepper warmth. 44% Alc./Vol.

    $74. 99

    $899.88 Dozen
    ABV: 47%

Produced by the Old St Andrews Company, a small, family owned Scotch Whisky company.

The spirit of the Khavaraya pink diamond, missing for over 400 years, has been resurrected in the packaging of Pink 47.

It has the crisp, dry taste of a true London style but with several extra facets. Twelve botanicals have been carefully selected from around the globe including Italian Juniper berries, which give the classic gin foundation, supported by two different types of angelica and two different corianders. Citrus fruits and almonds from Spain are expertly balanced with West African nutmeg and several exotic spices from the Orient. At 47% alc/vol, this is slightly stronger than most other gins on the market, making it the suitable choice for a good martini.
To date, Pink 47 Gin has won the following awards:

Silver Medal - International Spirits Challenge 2007
    Commended - Bartenders Challenge 2007
UK Spirits Winner - Tesco Drinks Awards 2008

    Pinkster Gin (700ml)
    UNITED KINGDOM
    $79. 99
    Bottle
    $959.88 Dozen
    ABV: 37.5%
Launched in 2013 and produced at G&J Distillers, one of the world’s oldest gin distilleries, Pinkster was developed by Stephen Marsh after he recognised what he felt to be a gap in the market for a different kind of gin.

Pinkster is composed of just five botanicals (most gins seem to be well over ten nowadays), only three of which are disclosed. Juniper, black peppercorn and most notably, raspberries are key. The raspberries are steeped in triple distilled spirit giving the gin a dry yet subtle berry flavour. They're also infused in the gin after distillation, contributing a subtle pink hue. Incidentally, the raspberries, albeit slightly intoxicated, are then recycled! They sell in farm shops and food halls as "Boozy Berries". Reports have it that Pinkster makes a refreshingly different G&T, with the delicate flavour appealing both to seasoned gin drinkers and recent converts.

Tasting note: Clear with a very pale straw blush. Yields frail aromas of raspberry herb tea and muted white pepper with the juniper indiscernible. Follows through with a silky textured, light-bodied profile offering meek piney-juniper flavours and a brisk raspberry jube finish that echoes in the aftertaste. A feather-weight, contemporary gin that needs more juniper input to balance. 37.5% Alc./Vol.

    Plymouth Gin (1000ml)
    Plymouth, UNITED KINGDOM
    $69. 99
    Bottle
    $839.88 Dozen
    ABV: 41.2%
Since 1793, Plymouth Gin has been handcrafted at England’s oldest working Gin distillery, Black Friars in Plymouth. The distillery was formerly a Dominican Monastery and the final lodgings of the Pilgrim Fathers before they set sail to the New World in 1620. The 'Mayflower' sailing ship, as well as the monk continue to be represented on the label to this day.

The first documented modern Martini recipe actually specified Plymouth Gin. It appeared in 1896 in Stuart's Fancy Drinks & How to Mix them. Plymouth has since gained a popular following, becoming a favourite of such 20th century figures as Franklin D.Roosevelt, Winston Churchill, Alfred Hitchcock and Ian Fleming.

Plymouth Gin owes its distinctive taste to a blend of ingredients that avoid the use of too much juniper or bitter botanicals, thus giving it a remarkably smooth, integrated palate. Water from the nearby hills of Dartmoor is sourced for its crystal clear purity. The result is a lighter bodied style with fabulous intensity and well balanced botanical flavours.

Tasting note: Clear as rainwater appearance. Offers delightful, lifted scents of fresh citrus peel and juniper over hints of black peppercorn and coriander. A water like entry builds into a juniper/citrus mid palate with lively peppers adding depth and length. Slightly oily mouthfeel. Ends with authentic coriander and citrus peel like freshness with the peppers persisting. Beautifully balanced gin with the depth and presence required for great martinis. 42.1% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... The full bodied, spicy aroma offers delicate notes of juniper berry oil, citrus, orris, coriander and caraway seed. Palate entry is mildly peppery, floral and fruity; at midpalate the flavor profile focuses more on oils and juniper. A unique and great gin.  96-100 points  41.2% Alc./Vol.

'What makes Plymouth Gin good is its complexity, its richness of flavour and richness of presence in the mouth - it's just a great drink' - Dave Broom, U.K. Drinks Journalist.

'It's that smell. It is fabulous. It's got a really lovely junipery quality. But you can also actually feel the other rooty, earthy sort of flavourings in there. And when you come to taste it, it's soft, it's quite a strong spirit,...but it's round and it doesn't attack you at all. It's a very nice gin indeed. Good with tonic I'd say.'

Tasmania is becoming a hot spot for world-class spirits. Here's another that stands out from the pack.
While the team at Shene Estate wait for whisky to mature, they've been making gin. A proprietary carbon filter system created from organic coconut shells was developed to reduce the 'louching' effect. It resulted in two gins with slightly different flavour profiles (arguably equally good), hence the team decided to launch both. This is the filtered version, modelled on a classic London dry.

Tasting note: Clear. The bouquet breaks loose from the glass with an earthy, piney, sappy fragrance; brief air contact deepens the aroma adding hints of lemon oregano, curry leaf, green cardamom, grapefruit, coriander... Palate entry is full flavoured, moderately viscous; mid palate dials up the intensity and pepper warmth, also creaming up the mouthfeel. Cool mint (menthol), oils and juniper, as well as touches of lead pencil and cedar through the finish; ends gracefully off-dry, savoury, fresh with trace citrus lingering. Complex, refreshing and nicely integrated. 46% Alc./Vol.

A limited release seasonal Gin, inspired by the Marrickville team’s favourite cocktail. This is a juniper-forward Gin (not a Gin liqueur), with tropical botanicals including coconut, pineapple, pandan leaf, lime, nutmeg and allspice. On the nose, there’s a nice kick of juniper with an underlying tone of caramelized pineapple and vanilla. Toasted coconut and hints of sea-spray and citrus add freshness. When sipped, the oily consistency coats the palate with silky coconut flavours contrasted by lime peel bitterness and fresh grassy notes. For serving, this sits well in a Martini or a Southside, but it’s just made for fruit juice - or take the distillery’s advice and make their version of a Piña Colada, with fresh-squeezed pineapple, a splash of coconut cream, a touch of sugar, squeeze of lime and bitters, served simply on the rocks. 5000 bottles produced. 42% Alc./Vol.

Yet another delightful release from Marrickville's Poor Toms, this time fresh strawberries are steeped in their Gin base along with young ginger and hibiscus flowers. This creates a bright aromatic flavour profile, and contributres to the Gin's pink hue. Distillates of cardamom and cubeb (or "Java") pepper helps to elevate the delicate sweetness of the strawberry. Unlike many flavoured Gins, this is bone-dry--no sugar is added. It's best mixed in a G&T, or makes a cracking Rosé Negroni.

Tasting note: Moderate aromas, hinting at juniper, orris root, subtle grapefruit and cool mint. The brainchild of Griffin Blumer and Jesse Kennedy, a duo who began making gin at home before investing their savings in a 200 litre German copper still (named Jane). Based in Marrickville, Sydney, Blumer and Kennedy were subsequently joined by one of Australia’s most experienced gin distillers, Marcel Thompson, who commenced his career with United Distillers New Zealand in 1987, as well as playing apprentice to some well respected names in gin making. Poor Tom's is handcrafted in small batches from Australian wheat spirit and features fresh green apple, native strawberry gum-leaf and chamomile in the botanical mix.

Tasting note: Clear. Drier styled with a complex bouquet that includes lemon verbena, liquorice root, hints of chamomile and pepper with later passes adding potpourri and turmeric-like scents over understated juniper and applemint. Clean, crisp delivery; mid palate features piney juniper, dried citrus peel and hints of applemint; excellent length. Finishes pleasantly peppery, refreshing and elegant with delicate bitter lemon peel, peppermint and juniper in the aftertaste. Outstanding. 41.3% Alc./Vol.

Gin has been produced in England since the early seventeenth century. During the nineteenth century, a chemist named James Burrough combined the wild flavour of juniper with the subtle sweetness of angelica and the spicy orange of coriander to produce a new highly aromatic style. Burrough coined the term "London Dry" to differentiate the style from its Dutch counterparts.

Made from a double distilled spirit , Prince Albert represents good value for money in comparison with other gins similarly priced. A value mixer for a refreshing Gin & tonic. 37% alc./vol.

    $1199.88 Dozen
    ABV: 60%
An aged Gin that references the barrels and blood spilt back in the days of prohibition. This project has been quietly maturing since co-founders Adam Carpenter and Wes Heddles opened at the company’s Gilbert St distillery. They had x Bourbon barrels that had recently being emptied of Barossa Shiraz, re-coopered into a smaller format then re-charred to restore their toasty character.

The resulting gin is a big, bold, barrel strength style retaining a gentle shiraz note along with a rich oaked rye back note. Following the trade launch, Carpenter commented, "everyone loved the flavour, the complexity and how different it is to anything else out there, it’s not like any other shiraz gin as there’s no fruit contact, but it’s not your average barrel aged either.”

Recommended with soda, in a classic Negroni, gin Old Fashioned or Boulevardier. 60% Alc./Vol.

We're serious about gin.

Distilleries both small and large from every continent on earth can now lay claim to a Gin. You could be cynical and suggest it's merely to maintain cash flow while more 'serious' barrel aged spirits mature. Gin is easy and cheap. After all, it's just flavoured vodka at the end of the day, right? That line of thinking misrepresents all this spirit can be in the hands of visionaries and fanatics. The freshest botanicals in high quality alcohol result in an exotic amalgam of accents and supporting notes that no white spirit can match. Perfumed complexity and bracing intensity are not the characteristics of every gin we taste - hence, it can't be that easy to achieve. From Navy Strength to organic to sloe gin, browse our range today. A long departure from the once "fuddy-duddy" association of the genre, Vickers, Gordon's and other ubiquitous brands are threatened to be swallowed in a giant yawn by the progressive, quality-savvy new-gin devotee. Trending classifications such as 'New Western' style (juniper evident but not dominant) are gaining prominence as are the use of indigenous botanicals and varied spirit bases, including non-grain. Barrel ageing is also gaining momentum. The vast improvement in quality has resulted in texture rich, neat/sipping friendly spirits. Yet, the traditional English and Dutch styles remain more relevant than ever in honouring the cocktail classics. Learn more today...
