2014 Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils Meursault Genevrieres Premier CruBurgundy, FRANCE$160. 00Bottle$1920.00 DozenABV: 13.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
The 2014 Meursault 1er Cru Genevrières spent 11 months in barrel using 10% to 15% new wood. Now this is a level up from the Les Clous 2014 (as it should be) with walnut and smoke filtering through on the nose that is very "Genevrières." The palate is well balanced with subtle tropical fruit (guava and apricot, a hint of quince), matched by a fine line of acidity and a composed, lightly spiced finish that tingles in the mouth. This is a lovely Meurault Genevrières from Bouchard Père.

Neal Martin - Robert Parker Wine AdvocateThe pungent nose combines reduction and as yet unabsorbed sulfur so be sure to decant this if you're going to open a bottle in the name of "science". The palate impression of the wonderfully refined middle weight flavors manages to be at once notably rich while retaining good delineation while simultaneously delivering excellent depth and persistence on the well-balanced finale. This is focused but not especially tight or austere and this should drink reasonably well after only a few years of cellaring.

Allen Meadows - burghound.comBright, light yellow. Peachy fruit salad, lavender and crushed stone on the vibrant nose and palate (very good choice of harvest date here!). Concentrated and sweet, with harmonious acidity giving shape to the wine. Strong mineral extract leads to a satisfyingly saline, fine-grained finish with noteworthy persistence. Tactile yet seamless wine with lovely balance and an element of power. But lay it down for a few years.

2019 Domaine Bouchard Pere et Fils Meursault Perrieres Premier CruBurgundy, FRANCE$250. 00Bottle$3000.00 DozenABV: 14%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Here too the nose is firmly reduced and revealing nothing. By contrast there is excellent, indeed almost painful intensity to the citrusy mineral-driven flavors that don't have the same concentration or complexity. While I wouldn't describe this as light, it is certainly lighter than the other Meursault 1ers. With that said, this wine often adds weight with time and bottle and the 2019 version will likely do the same. Drink 2026+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2019 Meursault 1er Cru Les Perrières is very promising, delivering notes of citrus oil, white flowers, mandarin, fresh bread and struck match. Medium to full-bodied, racy and chiseled, it's bright and mineral, with a tight, tangy profile that's defined by the site more than the vintage.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 2021)The 2019 Meursault Les Perrières 1er Cru is quite intense on the nose, although I found more terroir expression on the Genevrières by comparison. The well-balanced palate has a saline entry, a fine bead of acidity and an intense, quite citric finish; good salinity on the aftertaste. This Les Perrières has plenty of energy and should offer 15–20 years’ drinking. Drink 2023 - 2043.

2020 Domaine Bruno Colin Chassagne-Montrachet En Remilly Premier CruBurgundy, FRANCE$290. 00Bottle$3480.00 DozenABV: 13.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
There is enough wood surrounding the ripe and fresh white orchard fruit, floral and discreet spice nuances to merit pointing out. The more refined, if not necessarily more intense, medium weight flavors are definitely more mineral-driven on the moderately dry and lightly austere finale that delivers both fine depth and persistence as well as notably better balance. Drink from 2028+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chassagne-Montrachet En Remilly 1er Cru has a well-defined, mineral-driven bouquet with good tension and focus, a little flintiness in the background. The palate is well-defined, fresh and vibrant, good salinity here with a vibrant and lingering finish. This feels very composed and has a promising future. Drink 2024-2036.

Neal Martin - VinousThis is a wine of extraordinary balance and complexity that begins with aromas of lemon peel and minerals, then moves on to ripe apricots and white flowers. On the palate there is a refreshingly crisp acidity, but the lasting impression is one of density and length. This is not far off grand cru quality. This particularly interesting premier cru touches the top of Chevalier-Montrachet and leads to St-Aubin at the other end. Colin farms 0.47ha and picked at 13% potential alcohol in 2020. Smoky aromas of freshly sliced Granny Smith apples, citrus zest and elegant acacia blossom scents are complemented by the beautifully textured medium-bodied flavors that coat the palate with dry extract that helps to buffer the lemon-tinged acidity supporting the bone-dry and sneaky long finale. This is finer and more sophisticated than the Blanchot but doesn't have the same power, size and throw weight. A qualitative choice though the two wines are very different. Drink from 2030+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Puligny-Montrachet La Truffière 1er Cru is tight and crisp on the nose: Granny Smiths, Conference pear and light crushed stony aromas. The palate is well balanced with fine acidity, taut and fresh, tapering slightly towards the finish that just needs a little more complexity and nuance. Fine overall though. Drink 2023-2033.

Neal Martin - VinousThe wine has a pronounced lemon peel and mineral nose of impressive concentration, and on the palate there is a lively, fresh acidity tempered by pleasant richness and breadth. The dynamic equilibrium leads this to a lingering, satisfying finish. Bruno Colin farms nearly a half-hectare of vines in Puligny La Truffière, located far up the slope, almost in Blagny. Pure, airy and elegant aromas are comprised by freshly sliced lime, poached pear and acacia blossom. The much more refined flavors flash excellent, indeed almost painful, intensity along with evident minerality on the focused, concentrated and remarkably persistent finish that is noticeably firmer. Allen Meadows - BurghoundCheerful light yellow with a green tint. This has a classy chiselled bouquet, making a delicious mouthful with sunny yellow fruit, much less overtly powerful than Philippe Colin’s version, but very classy and charming. Nearly 500 years ago the future King of France Henry IV, was baptised in Pau with the traditional garlic and a spoonful of Jurançon wine. That year was 1553 and just five years later in 1558 a small rural property was entered into the register of lands under the name Caussapé. And it was on this property in 1980, then his parents’ farm, that Henri Ramonteau established Domaine Cauhapé. Since those beginnings on just one hectare, Henri has built up the estate to today’s area of 47ha and become the most renowned producer of Jurançon wines, both dry and sweet.
A blend of 30% Gros Manseng, 30% Petit Manseng, 30% Camaralet, 5% Lauzet and 5% Courbu Blanc fermented in stainless steel and matured on lees for 5 months.
Bright straw colour with a faint glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Exotic aromas of pineapple and guava mix with ripe yellow peach, citrus and distinct honeysuckle notes. Bursting with energy the palate features an exceptionally concentrated flavour profile of pineapple and guava fruits that show plenty of textural volume. Some ripe yellow peach, honeysuckle and wet slate characters lie underneath. Finishes dry with mouth watering acidity and a long rich aftertaste that carries a zesty freshness.

Firm reduction renders an evaluation of the nose impossible at present. The finer but not necessarily denser flavors possess a gorgeous mouthfeel while also coating the palate with dry extract that buffers the moderately firm, balanced and refreshingly dry finale. This is a seductive yet quite punchy Clos des Mouches and is a wine that should age effortlessly yet there is sufficient richness such that it could be enjoyed young too. Drink through 2030+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundAn even fuller yellow and an even more luxuriant nose, as Clos des Mouches cannot help. I still haven’t understood just why this vineyard should make such opulent, creamily textured wines. The oak is for me just a little bit too present but it should sort itself out after a light bentonite fining and filtering. Good acidity. Plenty of wine to work with here! Drink from 2028-2034.

Despite the heat of the year, there is no over-ripeness, and although the texture is creamy and rich, there is enough freshness to carry this to a pleasantly lingering finish. The grapes are from two hectares of Chanson's holdings in the Clos des Mouches, pressed as whole clusters and fermented on native yeasts with most of their lees. Here too there is enough wood as well as a vague suggestion of the exotic on the aromas of white peach, orange peel and an interesting hint of phenolic character (think olive oil nuances). The super-sleek and intensely mineral-driven flavors possess excellent volume while offering fine persistence on the moderately austere and refreshingly crisp and dry finale. This tightly wound effort could use better depth so I would suggest allowing this at least 5 years of keeping even though it should have no trouble repaying a decade or more. Drink through 2032+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundAnother mid yellow colour with a slight green tint. Evident power on the nose without much detail. Some lifted floral – summer flowers – notes start to appear. Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.comCyril Audoin has turned in another superb performance in the 2020 vintage, delivering wines of perfume, energy and precision that transcend stereotypes of their appellation. Marsannay nourishes a number of high-quality domaines, and the village offers rich pickings for wine lovers, but Audoin might well be my favorite. What's more, anyone who laments rising prices in the Côte d'Or should take note of the terrific value this estate's wines represent, because quality at this level should honestly cost quite a bit more.

Fleshy yet fresh in its feel, it picks up weight and texture as its sits in the glass. Finishes with good vibrancy and a long aftertaste that highlights Burgundy’s finesse.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

This has the combination of richness, firm structure and excellent concentration that we associate with Bâtard-Montrachet, but here the finish is more elegant with tingling mineral freshness that pulls you back for more.

Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.comUnfurling in the glass with scents of sweet orchard fruit, white flowers and almond paste, the 2019 Marsannay Au Champ Salomon Blanc is medium to full-bodied, bright and chalky, with the most tightly wound, mineral and incisive profile of Audoin's white Marsannay cuvées this year. As usual, it's my favorite of the range.

Bright pale straw to straw colour with a watery hue. Filling the nostrils are aromas of ripe peach, honeycomb and crème brulee with hints of lemon butter, roasted almonds, nougat and spice ensuing. Rich peach, nectarine and honeycomb flavours carry good textural volume across the mid weighted palate with fresh underlying acidity lending a subtle zing to the back half. Terrific concentration. Citrus, crème brulee, bacon fat and spice elements also chime in. Finishes energetic, long and opulent.

Stuart Pigott - jamessuckling.comAromas of citrus oil, pear, vanilla pod and nutmeg preface the 2019 Marsannay Clos du Roy Blanc, a medium to full-bodied, layered and precise wine that's concentrated and tightly wound, with tangy acids and chalky structure. This derives from the upper part of the Clos du Roy, where the calcium-rich marls are suited to Chardonnay.

You might easily think that this white Burgundy came from a much more famous appellation than Marsannay, thanks to the citrus-blossom nose with a delicate hint of oak, then the excellent balance of creaminess and mineral freshness on the medium-bodied palate.

More apparent wood is present on the otherwise similar nose. There is however more richness and volume to the slightly bigger-bodied and more concentrated flavors that also brim with sappy dry extract while exhibiting outstanding length on the powerful and equally compact finale. A slightly cooler nose reflects notes of white pepper and a touch of the exotic while the wood treatment, while subtle, is a bit more noticeable. The 2020 Chablis Village has a pretty bouquet that is quite floral in style and complements the yellow fruit. The palate is well balanced with touches of sour lemon and tangerine; the 2020 is fairly high in acidity towards a finish that just pulls up a little short at the moment. Drink 2022-2027.

Neal Martin - VinousPale lemon and lime, floral and fruity at the same time, balanced and cheerful, attractively stony behind, good concentration in the end despite the accessibility of the start. Lightly lemony.

Jasper Morris MW - Inside BurgundyStony, with flavors of lemon, herbs and white flowers. On the lean side and steely, yet persistent and juicy on the lingering finish. Drink now through 2026.

The 2020 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru, which was bottled just before the harvest, has an attractive bouquet with light flinty, earthy aromas. The palate is well balanced with orange pith and touches of mango, fine acidity and harmonious with a twist of bitter lemon that enlivens the finish. Fine length here. Drink 2023-2034.

Neal Martin - VinousFine fresh primrose. A steely nose, some of the lemon notes again, light but fine. There is steel in the backbone. Lightly stony, a touch of the marine. Fine length again. The lemon is quite pronounced.

Jasper Morris MW - Inside BurgundyThis has a fleshy, round profile, despite vivid acidity keeping this defined, leaving ample room for yellow plum, melon and apple flavors, with additional details of mineral and seashore. Fine balance and length. Drink now through 2028.

2020 Domaine Christian Moreau Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos Chablis Grand CruChablis, FRANCE$280. 00Bottle$3360.00 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Once again the nose reflects just enough wood to be worth pointing out though it easily allows the slightly riper if otherwise similar aromas to shine. There is also excellent intensity to the dense, powerful and punchy broad-shouldered and sappy flavors that display outstanding length on the balanced and slightly more persistent finale. The regular cuvée is a bit racier and this is a bit weightier and more powerful, so these two wines offer, in essence, a qualitative choice. Drink 2030+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chablis Les Clos Clos des Hospices has a lovely bouquet of white peach, citrus peel and flinty notes, all vibrant and tensile. The palate is taut and fresh on the entry, featuring lime and citrus lemon flavors, although the finish doesn’t quite have the depth of the Les Clos at the moment. I might actually prefer the regular cuvée this year. Drink 2024-2042.
91-93 points
Neal Martin - VinousThe paler colour of the two and slightly fleshier on the nose. More substantial but less Chablisien? There are some attractive citrus notes in the mix. Fair persistence, but the Hospices version is being a little shy at the moment.

2020 Domaine Christian Moreau Les Clos Chablis Grand CruChablis, FRANCE$230. 00Bottle$2760.00 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Slightly more apparent wood (though still nicely subtle) is present on the overtly floral-suffused nose where notes of lemongrass, mineral reduction and iodine add breadth. There is impressive volume to the powerful and delineated yet reasonably refined larger-scaled flavors that where the texture is akin to sucking on tiny rocks. The balanced bone-dry finish is refreshingly crisp in no small part thanks to the citrus-tinged acidity. Drink 2030+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru is clean and fresh on the nose, a little more austere than the 2019 yet beautifully defined with perhaps more mineralité. The taut, fresh palate has wonderful salinity and a vibrant finish that belies the warm summer. Drink 2025-2048.

Neal Martin - VinousThe regular Clos gave a better yield than the Hospices. Classy bouquet, as ever on the understated side. On the palate the quality shows, a little bit yellower than sometimes but neither exuberant nor heated. Very persistent, as indeed a Clos should be.

2020 Domaine Christian Moreau Valmur Chablis Grand CruChablis, FRANCE$220. 00Bottle$2640.00 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Once again there is admirably discreet wood influence hovering in the background of the essence of pear, green fruit, seashore and saltwater brine aromas. There is outstanding intensity to the muscular, powerful and more concentrated big-bodied flavors that conclude in a super-sleek, clean and bone-dry finale that delivers sneaky good length as the finish terminates and then reemerges. Lovely and very Valmur in style. Drink 2028+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chablis Valmur Grand Cru came from a sample taken directly from vat, and the nose was too primal to read. The palate is fresh and evidences fine concentration, displaying lovely pear and peach notes toward the harmonious finish. I suspect this will come around nicely once in bottle. Drink 2025-2048.

Neal Martin - VinousJust two barrels made of this lovely wine. Paler colour again, light bubbles, lightly floral, sweeter fruit notes but not heavy, this is really quite dainty and very persistent.

2020 Domaine Christian Moreau Blanchots Chablis Grand CruChablis, FRANCE$220. 00Bottle$2640.00 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Here too there is just enough wood to mention framing ripe aromas of smoky mineral reduction, prominent floral nuances and iodine whiffs. The mouthfeel of the lilting medium weight flavors is also notably refined with equally good punch suffusing the sneaky long and well-balanced finale. This should reward moderate patience. Drink 2027+.
91-93 points
Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chablis Blanchot Grand Cru displays more complexity and nuance than the Vaudésir at the moment and heightened mineralité. The palate is well balanced with a saline entry, tightening up toward the finish, but I like the classicism and the sapid nature of this Blanchot. Drink 2024-2045.
92-94 points
Neal Martin - VinousClear pale yellow. The nose is less extrovert than some. A fine, classy bouquet, still not demonstrative, currently a slightly dry finish behind the flesh, some white pear notes, restrained but certainly very fine with good acidity.

2020 Domaine Christian Moreau Vaillon Cuvee Guy Moreau Chablis Premier CruChablis, FRANCE$130. 00Bottle$1560.00 DozenABV: 13%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Once again there is a touch of fruitiness to the more floral-inflected aromas of citrus, iodine and quinine. I very much like the texture of the sleek and delineated medium-bodied flavors that are more powerful than those of the regular cuvée while offering notably better depth on the youthfully austere and persistent finale. Drink 2026+.
90-93 points
Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru Cuvée Guy Moreau is very expressive on the nose, not dissimilar to the regular cuvée: quite floral, with honeysuckle and jasmine, but a little spicier, perhaps. The palate is nicely poised, tensile and harmonious, delivering blood orange and apricot notes on the entry and a touch of grilled almond and crushed stone on the finish. Very good potential. Drink 2025-2045.

Neal Martin - Vinous35% has been made in barrel, now blended. The nose is more backward, less lemony, than the regular Vaillons, with more flesh. Still fine boned, but with density behind. The white fruit just tinged by a little lemon verbena, balanced and long.

2019 Domaine Christian Moreau Vaillon Cuvee Guy Moreau Chablis Premier CruChablis, FRANCE$110. 00Bottle$1320.00 DozenABV: 14.5%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Subtle but not imperceptible wood surrounds the ripe and fresh white and yellow orchard fruit scents that are nuanced by hints of tidal pool and iodine. There is again excellent intensity and delineation to the dense and rather serious medium weight flavors that also exude a bracing salinity on the impressively long and more complex finale. The Guy Moreau is usually a bit better than the regular cuvée but in 2019 this appears to offer a substantial step up in quality.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2019 Chablis Vaillon 1er Cru Cuvée Guy Moreau is matured in 1- to 4-year-old barrels for 12–14 months. It has a lovely bouquet, quite complex, the orange pith and lemon verbena combining nicely with flinty scents. The palate is well balanced with an energetic opening, a slightly honeyed texture and a judicious dab of spice. Very harmonious all the way through to the finish. There is a sense of panache about this Vaillon that is very compelling.

2019 Domaine Christian Moreau Clos des Hospices dans Les Clos Chablis Grand CruChablis, FRANCE$220. 00Bottle$2640.00 DozenABV: 13%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
Here the slightly riper nose reflects exotic fruit aromas that include notes of mango, passion fruit and white peach that are trimmed in notes of petrol, quinine and shellfish. There is even better density to the sappy dry extract-rich big-bodied flavors that flash good power if perhaps a bit less minerality on the wonderfully textured, long and well-balanced finale. This isn't quite as structured as the regular cuvée and should be approachable after only 4 to 5 years of cellaring.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2019 Chablis Les Clos Grand Cru Clos des Hospices comes from 45- to 60-year-old vines that yielded 40hl this year, and is matured in a mixture of 1- to 4-year-old barrels. It has a gorgeous bouquet of honeysuckle, yellow flowers, crushed stone and light quince aromas. The palate is very well balanced with a fine bead of acidity, taut and crisp, with touches of almond and dried honey toward the persistent finish. Superb.

Neal Martin - VinousAll in barrel, just blended. One new in 11, will now stay in tank till January. Really pretty palest green yellow. Little waves of flavour, good grip at the back, 13.3, but tastes a touch more, ripe spicy fruit, touch less acidity. More yellow plum notes to the fruit profile and summer flowers.
