2022 Domaine Chanson Corton-Vergennes Blanc Grand Cru
Domaine Chanson has undergone a significant transformation, pivoting from its historical identity as a traditional negociant house to a premier estate-focused producer. Now managing approximately 95 hectares, the domaine is among the most significant landowners in the Cote de Beaune. Under the direction of Vincent Avenel, with head viticulturalist Justine Savoye and cellarmaster Lucy Auger, there is a meticulous emphasis on vineyard health; the estate's core Cote de Beaune holdings achieved full organic certification in 2024. In the cellar, a technical, "infusion-led" philosophy utilizes a state-of-the-art chilling tunnel to preserve varietal purity and acidity. Winemaking is precise and site-specific, typically employing roughly 50% whole-cluster fermentation for reds and conservative new oak (20% for whites, 25-30% for reds).
Other Reviews....
Here too there is enough wood as well as a vague suggestion of the exotic on the aromas of white peach, orange peel and an interesting hint of phenolic character (think olive oil nuances). The super-sleek and intensely mineral-driven flavors possess excellent volume while offering fine persistence on the moderately austere and refreshingly crisp and dry finale. This tightly wound effort could use better depth so I would suggest allowing this at least 5 years of keeping even though it should have no trouble repaying a decade or more. Drink through 2032+.

Another mid yellow colour with a slight green tint. Evident power on the nose without much detail. Some lifted floral – summer flowers – notes start to appear. Quite firm fruit, more in white orchard fruit but with a plum touch as well, broad based, good acidity, and a solid bench of oak behind. Needs more time to show the detail. Drink from 2030-2038.

Jasper Morris MW - Inside Burgundy
This delicious white Corton has an almost Montrachet-like richness and depth of flavour, with its aromas of ripe apple, quince, cream and spice. The texture is luxurious, almost decadent, but the balanced acidity and extract carry it to an alluringly long finish. The domaine owns 0.65 hectares down the slope from Le Rognet et Corton in Ladoix that face due east; the grapes are carefully sorted, pressed as whole clusters, and fermented in cask (one-quarter new). This wine should open nicely in five years and will drink well for a further 20. Drink 2027-2055.
