Domaine Charles Audoin was formed in 1972 by Charles and his oenologist wife Marie-Francoise, starting with three hectares in Marsannay. Their holding has now grown to around 14 hectares that captures some of the best parcels in Marsannay. Their son Cyril joined his father in 2000, and is now in charge of both vineyard and winemaking activities for the Domaine. Cyril is increasingly focused on vineyard health, to deliver wines with pure varietal expression and a sense of place. They are among the most serious wines from the area, and while juicy and approachable young, have the capacity to age gracefully for many years.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Ripe peach, honeycomb and crème brulee aromas flood the nostrils trailed by hints of bacon fat, citrus, nougat and spice. Gently creamy in its texture yet fresh the palate is decorated with white peach, dried honey and subtle cashew favours which linger over a back drop of citrus, biscuit and spice. Bright, lemony acidity with a river stone like feel to the long, detailed and elegant finish.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.

Other Reviews....
Agreeably cool and pretty aromas combine notes of pear and apple with those of citrus confit and anise. There is excellent density to the very punchy and nicely delineated flavors that also culminate in a very dry, clean and focused finale. This isn't exactly rustic though neither is it particularly refined. Drink to 2024+.
