Intensely flavoured and highly scrumptious, this is Australia’s most popular Sauvignon Blanc.

2026 is the 37th vintage produced of this benchmark Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc. Fruit is sourced from Shaw & Smith’s estate vineyards at Balhannah and Lenswood, complimented by fruit from a small number of highly valued growers.
Brilliant water like colour with a faint greenish tinge around the edges. Leaping from the glass are passionfruit, lime and ripe gooseberry aromas followed by some green apple and delicate grassy mineral notes. Mouth watering lime, passionfruit and green apple fruits flood the palate underscored by crisp acidity. Some subtle gooseberry, melon and mineral elements linger underneath. Excellent intensity and drive with a long scrumptious finish.

If the 2025 vintage was one of the earliest recorded in the Adelaide Hills, then 2026 was one of the longest. What a contrast. For Sauvignon Blanc, the vintage helps deliver a lovely textural quality and a quiet depth of fruit intensity and concentration. In other words, this is one serious Sauvignon. Lively passionfruit pulp aromas, citrus, green apple, lemongrass and herbals of pea shoot, dill, fennel with grassy elements. A saline crunch and citrus rind zestiness liven up the fruit and background earthy herbals, passionfruit pulp. Closes smooth and dry with a core of bright acidity persisting long. Seriously good. Other reviews... It’s been a minute since we’ve seen anything from Bermuda’s Goslings Rum brand, but it’s back and with a vengeance. This new rum is finished on a container ship that travelled between Bermuda and somewhere in the Mid-Atlantic, back and forth, over and over, bobbing around for a total of 59,920 nautical miles before returning home for bottling. It’s a story we’ve heard before, but let’s see how Goslings does with the concept. A quality oak experience is what can make a good rum great, and there’s clearly something to be said for what that time on the water has done for this expression. Lots of punch on the nose gives the rum a certain austerity — plenty of oak and leather, balanced by a surfeit of bright sweetness: coconut syrup, maple, and butterscotch, all in a swirl. The palate takes that and runs with it, as the maple notes quickly become nothing short of intense. A bold coffee bean character wraps around more savory notes of hemp and leather, with a smoldering tobacco note quickly coming into focus. Plenty of vanilla and maple continue to dominate, while toasted spices linger as the finish builds, with a slight note of sulfur and burnt matches hanging in the air. While short of transcendent, this is a good, old, well-oiled rum that leans into its dessert-like qualities and takes no prisoners along the way. - drinkhacker.com

Launched in 2024, this is reportedly extra-aged Goslings blended from column and pot still selections, the twist being a finishing for at least three years in U.S. rye whiskey barrels. With ex-bourbon ageing for the first 16-19 years this is seriously old rum, so leave it out of your next 'Dark and Stormy'. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... So, what’s it like? Well, all in all, not bad. The extra ageing makes itself felt on the nose with some light sweetness, nougat, almonds, unsweetened chocolate and coffee grounds, with a nice touch of dried prunes and raisins. There’s a vague mint and briny note here that’s probably the rye cask influence, plus vanilla and caramel and even an overripe apple or two to mix things up....It’s as warm and and easy on the palate as the nose – there is no aggressiveness here. That’s both a good and a bad thing, depending on your preferences, but I will say it’s really pleasant. The tastes hearken to light citrus (tangerines, ruby grapefruit), with additional notes of bubble gum, black pepper, vanilla, cinnamon, toffee, honey, oak, wet coffee grounds. ...The unusual dimension to the spiciness here does make the bottle stand out, though I expect it could probably use more proof in order to feel more vivacious than the 40% ABV we’re getting here. All in all, though, the rye barrels are delivering a unique experience unlike what you’re typically going to run into in a standard bottle of moderately aged column still rum from the Caribbean. A family business for over two centuries, Gosling's was founded in 1806 by James Gosling and is Bermuda's oldest business house and largest exporter of locally made product. Originally called 'Old Rum', the company's flagship 'Black Seal Rum' was not sold by the bottle until after World War One, when it was packaged in Champagne bottles (the most widely available bottle at the time) and sealed with black wax, hence the name which has stuck.

Rich and layered yet beautifully refined and sophisticated the palate is decorated with fleshy white peach, nectarine, citrus and dried honey flavours. Lending further nuance are notions of biscuit, nougat, cashew, traces of crème brulee and spice. Concentrated and understated in it’s power yet highly finessed it has an underlying freshness and long, exquisitely balanced finish.

Made from the Briarston vineyard (planted '94) and House Block (planted '85). A very bright green gold. A refined and complex bouquet of citrus peel, pear, dried honey and subtle marine scents. Even better on the saline, mouth-filling and beautifully balanced palate. I love the touch of grip on the long finish. A wine you'd still love to have a few bottles of tucked away in the cellar, eight to 10 years from now. I've said this before, and it's worth repeating, but Coldstream Hill's top wines are extremely well priced. Drink by 2035.

They feature racy acidity, a pronounced minerality, and distinct fruit aromas and flavours. They often become accessible slightly earlier than the Wehlener Sonnenuhr wines and are delightfully mouthwatering. The hill faces slightly more westerly and has deeper soils than Wehlener Sonnenuhr, which act as excellent water reservoirs. With a gradient of 45 to 65 percent, the soils, if they can even be called soils, consist of deeply weathered Devonian slate interspersed with parcels of blue slate.

The palate stays on this beautifully bright side where fruitiness is juicy and tart, but its freshness is absolutely subsumed and intertwined with ripeness. The vineyards of Bernkasteler Badstube border those of Graacher Himmelreich. The slopes sit on a marginally shallower gradient with deeper soils than both Graach and Wehlen. A south-westerly orientation allows the vines longer exposure to the afternoon sun. Badstube typically produces wonderfully floral, delicate, and mineral-driven wines. Overall, these wines are usually slightly more delicate on the palate than their siblings from Graacher Himmelreich and Wehlener Sonnenuhr.

The 2024 Bernkasteler Badstube Spätlese offers a nose that is both intensely fruity and delicately spiced, with notes of almost tropical fruits and subtle vegetal undertones. The Zeltinger Sonnenuhr vineyard borders the northern boundary of Wehlener Sonnenuhr. It is a warm site with a large percentage of ungrafted vines. Joh. Jos. Prum's parcel comes from a patch of old vines, aged 60 to 70 years, planted directly around the sundial. The vines here are said to be the hardest working in the Prum vineyards due to the younger slate's lower water-holding capacity, meaning the roots must work overtime to achieve the same concentration levels as the other vineyards.

The 2024 Riesling Zeltinger Sonnenuhr Spätlese offers wet stone and dried herbs on the nose, almost like deadnettle crushed on slate, with the tenderest smokiness. The palate then adds a gorgeous streak of ripe Reine Claude plum with a juiciness that softens the stone. It becomes agile, sinuous and animated. What lovely character, subtlety, elegance and astonishing saltiness this has that seemingly swallows most of the sweetness. Its subtle, stony length is remarkable. Drink 2028-2060.

You almost forget that this is a Spätlese, as its sweetness and acidity seem to be bound absolutely to the sunken salty slate that makes the mouth water endlessly. The 2024 has brilliance, poise, absolute structure and very fine bones. The finish is full of lemon zest. Drink 2028-2055.

Nicolas Catena has been instrumental in Argentina’s progress over the last three decades, bringing the country's wine industry into line with world class standards. What you can now get for your money in the present day climate are seriously good expressions of the nation's signature varietal, Malbec, that rival many Australian reds for punch and price. Made by fourth generation vintner Laura Catena and chief winemaker, Alejandro Vigil, this wine is sourced from three high altitude vineyards. Each vineyard is specifically farmed in preparation for its role in the final blend. Eighty year old vines in the Lunlunta (Maipù) vineyard lend soft, sweet texture whilst the intense sunshine in the Gualtallary (Tupungato) vineyard provides explosive floral aromatics and a concentrated structure. The last component is from El Cipillo in Eugenio Bustos, which has loamy sands and thick calcareous layers sit over rounded rock. Maturation takes place in a mix of new, second and third use French oak barrels for a period of 11-13 months.

From a not widely known vineyard, Montefico sits half way between Ovello and Montestefano and it is often compared to the latter because of their similar soil (high calcium) and their close proximity. Its warm - full south - exposure is mitigated by the cooler northern wind that occasionally funnels into the narrow valley between the villages of Barbaresco and Neive. First released in 1970, it produces classic Barbaresco wines that could be seen as austere when young but with incredible complexity behind the tannins.

Pajè is in a small bowl facing South/West and it lies between the village itself and the famous Asili vineyard. The vineyard is slightly lower in altitude and more open to the Tanaro River influence, resulting in a cooler microclimate. The soil is limestone with a high calcium level and as a result the wine combines elegance and complexity with intense tannins; it is never shy in acidity. Pajè appears sharper and brighter in its first years, with lovely youthful fruit and flowery notes, almost minty in cooler vintages and is particularly attractive after some ageing, when the wine still retains a fruitful and fresh palate.

Rabajà produces a quintessential Barbaresco, one of the most complete and balanced of the single vineyards. Not far from the Tanaro River lies Rio Sordo, in the southern part of the Barbaresco village. The light limestone soil with relatively low calcium content (compared to other areas of Barbaresco) produces wines where tannins are never dominant, instead they show a silky quality on the palate that makes them extremely attractive and seductive, never imposing and always elegant. Behind the smooth elegance however, lies a core of powerful structure and very well balanced tannins that give to the Rio Sordo its complexity and longevity.

The Rosebank distillery is settled on the banks of the Forth-Clyde canal near Falkirk and has been mothballed since 1993. Considered as the Queen of all Lowland malts by some specialists, the final Rosebank release was a cask strength bottling in the 'Rare Malts' collection, and independent bottlers have put several versions on the market.
This particular bottling was distilled in 1990 and bottled in 2008 at 46% by Hart Brothers. The distillery in Falkirk closed its doors in 1993, making this bottle a rare opportunity to taste this sought-after whisky alongside a new release. After being purchased by Ian Mcleod Distillers in 2023, the site opened up to the public in June 2024 and has started production again. A new Rosebank release is still a while away, but the older bottles will be getting snatched up quickly. Don't miss out!

Aged at least 4 years but rumoured to be 7-9 years old, it comes bottled at 128.9 proof or 64.45% ABV. Since Australia experienced price hikes in Buffalo Trace's Antique Collection, 'Stagg' (formerly known as Stagg Junior) is now generally considered the best buy in the distillery's portfolio. Keep in mind that these high-octane Bourbons usually need taming with water, or at a minimum, we suggest letting your Stagg breathe in the glass to let it unravel and better appreciate its flavours.

Formerly known as Powell & Son, Dave Powell, of Torbreck fame and son Callum have now decided to take separate paths on their winemaking journey. Dave rebranding his venture Neldner Road. Sourced from mature Barossa Valley vineyards, the majority located along the region’s North-Western ridge in Marananga and Seppeltsfield with a component also coming from Lyndoch Valley in the Southern Barossa. Fruit parcels are vinified separately in concrete vats before being basket pressed and assembled into large format 4,500 litre French oak foudres for 15 months maturation.

Magnificent colour featuring an impenetrable inky black heart along with a near equally deep black dark red hue. Heady aromas of dark to black plum, liquorice and ripe black cherry waft through the nostrils complimented by spicy vanillin oak and earthy mocha notes. Rich, dense and boasting a liqueur like concentration, voluptuously textured black plum, liquorice and black cherry fruits saturate every corner of the palate. Smoky vanillin oak, earthy fennel, mocha and blackpepper characters then move in. Power packed it has somewhat chewy yet velvet like tannins and a long decadent finish.

A delicious, gorgeously rounded Chablis.
Founded in 1850, Domaine Laroche is one of the largest owners of Premier and Grand Cru vineyards in Chablis. Their Saint Martin Chablis is a blend of the very best plots of the Domaine’s 60 hectares of Chablis appellation vineyards. 85% of it is aged on fine lees in stainless steel tanks and 15% in 55hl foudres for minimum of 6 months.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Delightful pear, lime and green apple scents sail through the nostrils overlaid by wet slate, oyster shell and mineral notes. Delicious pear and lime fruits carry a slippery flow across what is a gorgeously rounded palate. Notions of green apple, wet stone, subtle infusions of fresh herbs and a saline like minerality the undercard. Excellent intensity with brisk acidity lending a fresh feel across the long shapely finish.
