2019 Nicks Secret CB HB Barossa Valley Shiraz
Created as a side hustle by two winemakers from Treasury Wine Estates and Torbreck, this small Barossa Valley winery has occasionally appeared in our newsletters over the years.
At less than a third of it’s original price and with all of the cellaring done for you, this Nicks Secret Shiraz represents sensational drinking at just $17.99.
Rich, velvety and luxurious this perfectly aged Barossa Shiraz is an undeniable bargain at 70% off.
Impenetrable inky black colour with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Aromas of aniseed, black cherry and dark plum engulf the nostrils followed by some vanillin oak, earthy fennel and more subtle spicy mocha notes. Rich, plush and velvety the palate is layered with opulent liquorice and dark plum fruits. Unravelling across the back half are spicy vanillin oak, earthy fennel, mocha, subtle leather and pepper characters. Silky smooth yet underlyingly sturdy tannin structure, concluding long and sumptuous.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews….
Wonderfully complex and enticing, the wine shows blackberry, cake spice, cured meat, and toasty oak characters on the nose with a hint of dark cocoa. The concentrated palate delivers a plush mouthfeel, backed by beautifully melded tannins, making it robust and opulent with excellent harmony and length. At its best: now to 2035.
