Coming Soon - 2024 Joh Jos Prum Wehlener Sonnenuhr Riesling Auslese (375ml)
The Wehlener Sonnenuhr vineyard has become intrinsically tied to the name of Joh. Jos. Prum. The estate owns seven hectares of this majestic site, which is largely planted with ungrafted vines and features very thin topsoil over Devonian slate (in some areas, the plants grow directly out of pure rock). Wehlener Sonnenuhr has the highest pure stone content of all the Prum vineyards and, along with neighbouring Zeltingen, is the steepest, boasting a dizzying 65 to 70 percent gradient. The forest resting above the vineyard also acts as a natural water regulator for the slope.

The 2024 Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese offers a remarkably fine and sophisticated nose of crushed slate, salt, blackcurrant, peach and lemon rind. The wine is filigreed yet intense and persistently saline, dense, complex and very long. This is a fabulous, highly digestible Riesling Auslese from one of the Moselle's most famous crus. AP 12 25. 7.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in March 2026. Drink 2026-2070.

The 2024 Riesling Wehlener Sonnenuhr Auslese, without any botrytis to speak of, flirts with peach bathed in orange zest with a gorgeous frisson of bergamot. It has a serene sweetness, delving deep into ripe, golden peach flesh. The 2024 is gorgeously framed with tangy citrus on a beautifully contoured body that is so racy, sleek and smooth. What a class act. Drink 2030-2065.

The interplay of white peach and complex floral flavors with salty minerality makes this Auslese really stand out. Concentrated but also very vibrant on the medium-bodied palate. Extremely long, salty finish with great drive and raciness. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.
