Milhoc Premiere Flamme Single Grain French Whisky (700ml) - DAMAGED GIFT BOXArmagnac, FRANCEReduced from $159.99$154. 99Bottle$1859.88 DozenABV: 50%Milhòc means “corn”, an appropriate title for Denis Lesgourgue's new spirits project which sees corn instead of malted barley as the main ingredient. The reasons are several. Legourgues’s family is from Gascony where they're well respected as Armagnac producers under the Château de Laubade label. However, the south west is also the country's major region for corn (mainly used in animal feed and for industrial purposes). Both are part of his family heritage, now channeled into whisky making.
Kicking off in early 2020, 45 acres of Château de Laubade’s estate are now dedicated to corn. Barley is out-sourced. “We decided to convert some of our vineyards into corn parcels,” says Lesgourgues. “When you walk the estate, you can see the two cultures side by side.” The whisky is distilled in Laubade’s column still via the same single distillation method used in traditional Armagnac-making. There are two expressions: Milhòc Le Premier-Né (First Born), and the higher-proof Milhòc Première Flamme (First Flame). Both whiskies are aged 4 to 5 years in Laubade's cellars, in new oak, x-bourbon, and x-Armagnac casks (think sweet and soft American oak, counterpointed against spicy Gascony oak).
Though classified as a 'single grain', Premiere Flamme comes with a mash bill of 54% corn and 46% malted barley. The nose opens citric and dry building mildly sweet, bready aromas, followed by a soft entry and a grassy, crisp, vibrant delivery with hints of tea biscuits and vanilla wafers. Oily and rounded at mid palate, spritely pepper and fine tannins punctuate the gently sweet finish. Bottled at 50% with zero chill filtration.
Other reviews... On the nose, there’s baked apples, white grape juice, and cherry cola, with a whisper of dark rye bread. The fruits are more muted on the palate, where raisins, chocolate-dipped strawberries, and funnel cake take the lead. The finish is long, with fruit tart and chocolate-covered espresso beans. 92 points - whiskyadvocate.com

Jacopo Poli Sassicaia di Grappa (500ml) - DAMAGED GIFT BOXVeneto, ITALYReduced from $150.00$145. 00Bottle$1740.00 DozenABV: 40%The highly regarded Jacopo Poli distillery is an artisan operation solely owned by the Poli family, founded in 1898 in Schiavon, near Bassano del Grappa, in the hearth of Veneto, the most typical region for Grappa production. The grapes and pomace for this grappa (80% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Cabernet Franc) were sourced from Tuscany’s famed Sassicaia vineyard. Soon after the pomace arrives at the distillery (still dripping with wine) distillation takes place in copper pot stills after which the product is aged for at least four years in Allier oak barrels, and another three years in bottle.
Tasting note: Very pale straw colour. Appealing, lifted aromas are salty, herbal and biscuity at first becoming sweeter and dried apple like (more peel than pulp) with aeration. After five minutes the aromas reduce rather than accentuate. Entry is silky. Mid palate shows good concentration and is at the sweeter end of the grappa spectrum with buttery, mildly nutty flavours followed by a creamy, vanilla custard finish. Aftertaste is clean and dry with a faint butterscotch / vanilla fade that’s a little short, however this seduces with its textural qualities and beautiful poise. 40% Alc./Vol.

A component is fermented and aged in new French oak puncheons, adding texture and depth to an otherwise lemon-accented and fairly racy wine. Aromatic with lemon blossom and a smidge of hay, lightly spiced, and an even lighter spray of nutty lees across the palate. And, yes, acidity is very much at work here. Drink by 2031.

Notably, Industrias Licoreras de Guatemala, the company behind the iconic Zacapa brand. The provenance of this bottling is unknown, however the flavours of sweet nuts, dark brown sugar, caramelised fruit, cigar leaves and oaky spices do reflect the Zacapa style. The Macallan Colour Collection 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - DAMAGED GIFT BOXSpeyside, Highlands, SCOTLANDReduced from $199.99$164. 99Bottle$1979.88 DozenABV: 40%A limited edition Macallan matured exclusively in sherry casks and bottled at ABV 40%. It's part of the 'Colour Collection' which sees a return to age statements for the duty free market and represents a celebration of Macallan's commitment to natural colour and sherry seasoning. From its pale oak colour to the deep burnished chestnut of the 30 Year Old, the colour of these whiskies gradually deepens. The presentation is captured through the eyes of American Artist and Graphic Designer, David Carson, who collaborated with the distillery to create the campaign artwork. American oak casks, harmoniously complemented with a subtle inclusion from European oak are employed. This is probably quite a large outturn, yet it's still sold at an extremely high price compared to the general release 12YO, so you could say it's another Macallan aimed at 'conspicuous consumption'.
Other reviews... Around 150€ vs. around 70€ for the 12 yo 'Double Cask', there must be something happening. Pure golden promise? Proper sherry butts used in bodegas and not just seasoned? What's sure is that the label is beautiful. And the whisky, you may ask? Let's see… Colour: deep gold. Nose: reassuring, slightly fat given the low strength – which is good – with rather a lot of beeswax and many dandelion flowers, then some apricot and mirabelle jams, juicy fresh sultanas, fudge, acacia honey… It would then fade away a little bit, because of the bizarrely low strength. Are we still in 1995? Mouth: good presence, with the expected roasted nuts and toasted breads, but some burnt oak tends to feel in the background. Some chestnut honey, black Assam (remember we say Assam for any black tea, ha), black pepper, a wee bit of cardboard that, indeed, feels a little '1995'… And some fresh marmalade and more mirabelle jam lifting it a little bit. Finish: short, the 40% vol. really feel now. Or rather, they do not feel. Cardboard, sawdust, marmalade, dried apricots. Comments: it's rather simple, 84 points at 40% vol. and probably 85 at 43% vol., 86 at 46% and 87 at 50%. You bet! 84 points - whiskyfun.com

Glenallachie 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - Batch 10 - DAMAGED GIFT BOXSpeyside, Highlands, SCOTLANDReduced from $149.99$144. 99Bottle$1739.88 DozenABV: 58.6%Whisky reviewers often say that modern day GlenAllachies are unashamedly 'cask-driven' - as opposed to emphasising the distillate. Precisely what that means and whether or not it's a criticism isn't something that's straightforward to answer or easy to quantify. At the end of the day, if something tastes good, most drinkers are not going to be nitpicking (especially when the price is right). Whether you think heavy barrel input is a plus or a minus, GlenAllachie's series of natural strength ten year olds have been the recipients of considerable praise, with Batch #4 awarded the ultimate accolade as "World's Best Whisky" at the World Whiskies Awards in 2021. From our own experience, there are plenty of people who appreciate the richness that these whiskies deliver, enhanced by a range of cask types, and not entirely sherry. For Batch #10, there’s an unspecified portion of red wine and virgin oak casks in the mix (in contrast to the 12 and the 15 year releases). Combine that with a high ABV and non chill filtration, and you have a flavour bomb that sweetens up with water. Normally these editions retail for around $200 in Australia. At direct import pricing, now is the time to buy!
Other reviews... a whisky that’s not exactly about showcasing the characteristics of the new make. Instead, Pedro Ximènez, Oloroso, red wine and virgin oak casks were used... This is seemingly all about the cask. Arriving on cracked black peppercorns, cloves, a touch of ginger and some mocha. Also peach pits, some cherry liqueur and eucalyptus. Somewhat vinous... A quintessential example of an engineered whisky. The GlenAllachie 10 Years Cask Strength Batch 10 is well-designed. This isn't about careful, slow maturation, but instead about waking up the spirit with an assortment of active casks. And it works, but it's also not without its downsides. - wordsofwhisky.com

This one comes from Greenock. Ferments in cement. Honestly, one of the best full flavoured, and affordable red, of Barossa, I’ve tried this year.
Succulent, dark fruited, intense. Geez this is rich and ripe but wow that is so well mediated by the chalkiness of tannin and saline, briny minerality and graphite things going on. The second release of this new flagship addition to the Torbreck portfolio, the Forebear is a single vineyard Shiraz that dates back to the 1850’s and pays homage to generations of Barossa vignerons. Maturation takes place in new French oak barriques for a period of 24 months.

The 2020 The Forebear is sourced from the oldest plantings in the Hillside Vineyard in Lyndoch—12 rows planted in the early 1850s. For this tasting, the wine has been open now for three hours, and yet it needs more in the way of oxygen than what it currently has. The wine remains aromatically closed, with notions of black fruit, exotic spice, charry oak and forest floor. This has peat, old leather, jarrah and black cherries in profusion. The palate is shaped by intense graphite tannins, which feel closely knit and exclusively the property of old vines; they are silty and settle in the mouth—if you need a visual—like watching a pint of Guinness settle in the glass. A monumental wine, it needs space and quiet to be able to absorb the layers of complexity and undulating waves of flavor through the finish. 15.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and wax. Drink 2025-2040.

Planted by the Calvert family in 2001, the vineyard features 6 acres of Pinot Noir and 2 acres of Chardonnay, all on own roots. Positioned on a slope overlooking two large lakes, the site expresses remarkable varietal character and complexity. Now under the care of the Farr family, Nick Farr manages the vineyard with the same attention and dedication as his Geelong estate.

Spice grip and char then softness, then more tart bright sinewy notes. The nose is petals and perfume, then darker, richer barrel notes. It has a really lovely aroma. Actually, calling it lovely diminishes it somewhat, this is unique, complex and entirely appealing for those looking for something more from a glass of Pinot Noir. There is a different oak profile maybe, something smokier, something more angular. It really works with this wine, even if I’m wrong about the new oak regime. Whatever it is, be it new or just more present, adds a layer to this wine. The Irrewarra only improves with each vintage, it seems, and this is no different. I sat with this for a little while and those spice notes just kept delivering, and each sip or sniff offered something new and delicious.

Located in Victoria’s Western District, about 150km south-west of Melbourne, Irrewarra is a distinctive vineyard surrounded by volcanic plains and inland lakes. Exposed to the elements, the site benefits from high natural rainfall, adding to its cool-climate charm.

I had to check the notes for the previous release to make sure I wasn’t indulging in hyperbole two years in a row. The 2024 Irrewarra Chardonnay is brilliant. Lovely white gold in the glass the palate cool from the fridge yet immediately giving. It has a softness that defers to finer notes of acidity, ripe citrus and barley sugar; delicate honey and creaminess. In a world where making everyone happy is next to impossible, this wine, in my opinion, goes as close to universal appeal as it can. Generosity combined with finesse, flavour and restraint. It may seem contradictory, but this is a wine in which you see that conflict play out in the glass. It’s very, very delicious. As always, the big problem will be getting enough to drink and also keeping some in the cellar. I found myself glugging rather than sipping, as it is such a pleasure to drink.

A.D. Rattray Cask Islay Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Islay, SCOTLAND$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenABV: 46%Double Gold Medal Winner in the 2016 & 2017 San Fransisco World Spirits Competition.
Yet another independent bottler hits Australian shores, boasting a strong reputation for quality. Founded by Andrew Dewar Rattray in 1868, the company began trading as an importer of French wines, Italian spirits and olive oil. More importantly, the firm established itself as a specialist in the field of blending and storage of malt and grain whiskies. After several changes in ownership, it returned to the family and is presently owned by Tim Morrison, previously of Morrison Bowmore Distillers and fourth generation descendent of the founder. The company’s resurgence came about in 2002 with the bottling of a ‘new’ Stronachie. In April 2004, using his extensive industry knowledge, Morrison then bottled a selection of his own handpicked whiskies and the A.D. Rattray Cask Collection was born. Plans for their new Glasgow-based distillery were approved in 2014.
Peated to 35ppm, Cask Islay is assembled from up to twenty casks from the one distillery, mostly x-bourbon barrel matured, though some ex-sherry hogsheads are reportedly in the mix. It is unashamedly Islay in its semi-sweet, sooty peat character that's complexed by suggestions of orange cake, cough lozenge, hints of smoked fish and later, banana cake. Because this series is bottled at 46% with zero chill filtration, the whiskies are surprisingly concentrated. Here, the medium dry, spicy profile features sooty malt and vanilla with some apparent sherry influence towards the finish as this gets more dried fruit-like. There's also real staying power with Fisherman's Friend carrying the aftertaste. A sit-back-and-relax island treat at a very reasonable price. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

...A.D. Rattray! Glad to meet one of their recent bottlings, I had thought they were, well, gone. Or busy with the Outer-Mongolian market. We had an early batch of their Cask Islay in 2011, and thought it was pretty good (WF 83). Colour: white wine. Nose: reeks of young Caol Ila, which can’t be bad news. Apples, garden bonfire, seawater, whelks, oysters, fresh almonds, and lemons. There. Mouth: purrfekt, with some impeccable ashy smoke (very CI indeed) and more almonds, lemons, apples, and those tiny green crabs that people would rather throw into wild broths and soups. Oh and apples, naturally. Okay, I had mentioned apples before. Finish: rather long, very ashy, kippery, and with apples and lemons in the aftertaste. Comments: a great batch despite the youth and the (relative) simplicity. Not much depth, but all the rest is perfect. Welcome back, A.D. Rattray! 84 points - whiskyfun.com

This latest Cask Speyside ups the age statement and includes a spell in sherry casks. The rich, spiced berry flavours make an indulgent contrast to the refreshing citrus flavours of the ten. Un-coloured and non-chill-filtered, it's good to see Rattray maintaining the higher abv in this super value series. 46% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Despite the finish, it got a lot of sherry, modern profile, of course. More in the direction of PX, very sweet, toffee, orange peel, apple and almonds. On the palate there is a clear hint of oak, a bit bitter, slightly tingling, very spicy, again orange or orange jam and a hint of red fruit. Quite long finish, spicy, slightly bitter, warming. The 46% drinking strength is just right. Imho did the finish right here for the malt. - whiskybase.com
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Almond icing, dusted cinnamon, red apple and blackcurrant. Palate: Cherry plum, spiced honey and zesty orange marmalade. Finish: Rolling gently through subtle spice to a lightly tart, bramble conclusion. Spiced berry, citrus and orchard fruit.

"...no arguing with the extreme — and perhaps unmatched — value it offers in single malt Scotch." - drinkhacker.com
While not well-known in Australia, overseas Speyburn has long been considered one of the better values in single malt Scotch. The tenner comes matured in both x-Bourbon and x-Sherry casks and offers a light to medium-bodied dram with a friendly fruity-cereal character. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... A sweet, creamy dram matured mainly in bourbon casks and some sherry casks. The nose has honey, vanilla, flaked coconut, lemon biscuits, and apple Danish pastries. Vanilla fudge, lemon bonbons, white chocolate, toffee, sweet oak, and cracked peppercorns continue the sweet flavor profile as it melts into butterscotch sauce and crème brûlée at the swallow, with vanilla seeds on the finish. It’s impossible not to like it. 88 points - whiskyadvocate.com
...Tasting it fresh in 2023, we find a whisky with an outsized nose of fresh granary notes, showing as a bit leathery at times, with the lightest touch of smoke evoking aromas of smoldering underbrush. No fruit, no real sweetness, just the essence of cereal. The palate kicks in with more to offer, though the grain-heavy backbone is never out of focus. Well-roasted cereal, almost overcooked at times, find room for some brighter notes of applesauce, a squeeze of lemon peel, and some sugary shortbread character. Uncomplicated as it develops, the finish melds sweetness with cereal notes, eventually developing into something resembling sweetcorn, served on vanilla wafers. That vaguely smoky quality lingers, however, keeping things in a savory check. All told I am distinctly less enamored with Speyburn 10 today than I was a decade ago, though there is still no arguing with the extreme — and perhaps unmatched — value it offers in single malt Scotch. - drinkhacker.com

A.D. Rattray Bank Note 5 Year Old Blended Scotch Whisky (700ml)SCOTLAND$59. 99Bottle$719.88 DozenABV: 43%Bank Note is the only blend A.D.Rattray bother with. There are two reasons why: Firstly, they believe it’s exceptional, so another would be superfluous. Secondly, it’s part of Scotland’s whisky heritage, stemming from a time when George, Edward then Victoria reigned. Great passenger liners set sail from Glasgow, cargo ships were loaded with whisky barrels on the Clyde where James Sword & Co was one of the largest companies to bottle and blend. Bank Note was in their portfolio of spirits. The company was admired for its dedication to quality – and so Rattray continue the brand with some pride and attention to detail. A mix of 40% malt whiskies from the Speyside and Highland regions is expertly blended with 60% grain whisky from the Lowlands. Maturation for a minimum of five years ensures a mellow taste at 43% ABV, with good mouthfeel and decent depth of flavour.
Other reviews... "Mild honey, delicate tangy citrus, hints of stone fruit, and cereal chewy grains greet you as you bring this blended whisky to your nose. The palate is more of the same; under promise and over deliver. Upon your first sip you will taste creamy vanilla nougat, milk chocolate, more grainy malts and a bitter and slightly astringent lemon zest. The finish is short and sweet of toasted bread, caramel, citrus and the most delicate wisps of peat smoke." - distiller.com
Notes from the bottlers... Colour: Golden with brilliant clarity. Nose: Clean, crisp aroma, hints of vanilla. Palate: Mellow on the taste with sweet richness and depth of flavour. Finish: Clean on the palate with lingering sweetness.

2024 Chateau Gruaud Larose Pre-Arrival OfferSaint Julien, Bordeaux, FRANCE$145. 00Bottle$1740.00 DozenClosure: CorkOther Reviews....
The 2024 Gruaud Larose shows excellent potential, bursting with notes of cassis, pencil shavings, iris and violets. Medium to full-bodied, suave and seamless, it's ample and pure, with a precise, refined pro-life and good persistence on the finish. A blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 2% Cabernet Franc, it is the fruit of a growing season defined by fully 30 organic phytosanitary treatments and a harvest that concluded on October 8. It checks in at 12.4% alcohol and pH 3.77 (for Gruaud, a rather low number).
92-94 points
William Kelley - Wine AdvocateThe 2024 Gruaud Larose is very fine. Dark and ample, with gorgeous presence, the 2024 has so much to offer. Dark blue/purplish fruit, new leather, gravel, spice, lavender and dried herbs build effortlessly. Readers will find a Saint-Julien endowed with notable textural depth. The finish is perhaps just a touch narrow, but élevage may very well help with that. Drink 2034-2054.
92-94+ points
Antonio Galloni - VinousGorgeous dark ruby colour with vivid reflections, slow and steady reveal of grilled earth, savoury rose bud, peony, black tea and floral Cabernet finesse. This is a little softer than the recent exceptional vintages of Gruaud, but the fragrant aromatics have a ton of charm, and this shows skilful construction. Harvest 27 September to 8 October, 3.55pH, 31hl/h yield, slap bang on the appellation average, organic certified. 40% of production in this 1st wine. 95% new oak for ageing. Drink 2030-2040.

Jane Anson - Inside Bordeaux(St Julien; 81% Cabernet Sauvignon; 17% Merlot; 2% Cabernet Franc – sourced almost entirely from Terrace 3; pH 3.77; a final yield of 31 hl/ha; 12.39% alcohol; certified organic; tasted only at the property). Profound and very beautiful aromatically. Yet slightly introvert and a little closed at first. Damson, blueberry and black berry, black currant and subtle cassis with gentle aeration. Blanched almonds and a little of their creaminess. In the mouth, there’s some Griotte cherry, a hint of peony and maybe lily of the valley too. Succulent and luxurious in its texture. Suave, quite full and ample in frame, this pushes at the cheeks. I love how the fresh juiciness seems to gather at the top of the palate and, with a sensation of greater viscosity, glide down the cheeks like ‘tears’ descending the sides of a glass. Not, of course the density and concentration of the last couple of vintages, but beautifully managed, very vibrant and fresh and yet with no astringency or dryness. In fact we have a lovely juiciness on the finish and we are left with a very persistent sensation of chewy grape skins.

Fresh and bright aromas include those of pear, apple and just sliced citrus. There is fine volume to the fleshy and generously proportioned middleweight flavors that possess good energy that carries over to the clean and dry finale. Smoke and petrol nuances add breadth to the aromas of rosemary oil, pear and soil tones. There is impressive volume to the dense and seductively textured medium weight flavors thanks to the abundant amount of dry extract that imparts a sappy quality to the lingering, powerful and balanced finale. This is noticeably less refined, indeed it's mildly rustic, but offers excellent quality for its level. Recommended. Drink through 2029+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundMoreau's production has diminished to the extent that space is no longer a constraint, meaning that he can afford the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Blanc a longer élevage on the lees than was hitherto the case. The wine is shaping up nicely, revealing aromas of pear, green apple, white flowers and toasted nuts, followed by a medium to full-bodied, lively and attractively complete palate.
89-91 points
William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Village has a very composed bouquet with yellow plum, fresh pear and light lemon verbena scents that gain momentum in the glass. An exuberantly floral nose also displays notes of petrol, rosemary oil and a variety of white orchard fruit scents. The rich, concentrated, powerful and sappy larger-bodied flavors coat the palate with dry extract while delivering excellent length on the muscular and mildly rustic finale. This isn't refined but it's very Morgeot in style and character. Well-worth checking out if you enjoy generous and full-bodied white burgs. Drink through 2030+.
91-93 points
Allen Meadows - BurghoundDerived from Les Fairendes, which tends to produce rather elegant wines, the 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet 1er Cru Morgeot exhibits aromas of minty pear, green apple, nutmeg and toasted bread, followed by a medium to full-bodied, bright and pure palate that's chalky and suave.
91-93 points
William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2022 Chassagne-Montrachet Morgeots 1er Cru is composed, almost understated on the nose, with oyster shells and crustacea infusing the yellow fruit. Excellent delineation. The fresh, vibrant palate is more lime-infused than Moreau’s other cuvées and, as such, may not have quite the same level of complexity or terroir expression. Thoroughly enjoyable - perhaps the punters' choice from the Domaine. Drink 2025-2038.
91-93 points
Neal Martin - VinousOnly from old vines in Fairendes. Clear pale lemon. The nose is entirely white fruit and indicates the power to come on the palate. There is a fine backbone to this as well as the habitual flesh of Morgeot, and the oak component is absolutely in harmony. This will make a gorgeous bottle with appropriate (10 year) age, even if accessible before. There is a light citrus wash to keep it fresh and a particularly long finish. Drink from 2030-2038.

A.D. Rattray Cask Orkney 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Orkney Islands, SCOTLAND$119. 99Bottle$1439.88 DozenABV: 46%A mystery Orkney. Could it be Scapa? The notes from the bottlers describe a peppery-smokey character, so it's the other. Not a mainstream Highland Park that most will be accustomed to, which is what you want from an independent. At first, mezcal-like, and subtle smoke indeed, instead, a rather fresh, grassy, crisp expression with trace peat. Fascinating and strangely compelling compared to the official bottlings, once attuned to the right amount of water it makes for a good aperitif. Otherwise, add an ice cube or two, release the oils and richen up the experience. Mimimal water is required. One reviewer sums it up as "...a great summer whisky. Lovely honied malty waxy notes; a good ex-bourbon maturation". It's out of the ordinary for the age statement, but at this price and ABV, grabbing a bottle is't much of a gamble. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

This bottling represents one of the early runs from the 'new period'. Cough lozenges and Ovaltine, also vaguely cut grass-like on the nose, sweetening after air contact; the first taste feels tense and needing water. Given time we have a well-endowed, medium-bodied malt of some presence: tea biscuits, dark chocolate and warming spice, circling back to the faint citrusy, grassy edge found on the nose. 2024 Chateau Lafite Rothschild Pre-Arrival OfferPauillac, Bordeaux, FRANCE$950. 00Bottle$11400.00 DozenClosure: CorkOften seen as the most elegant of the First Growth wines, Chateau Lafite Rothschild has long been considered one of the greatest wines from not only Bordeaux, but from anywhere in the world. Prices too reflect its status as the most collectable wine in Bordeaux, spurred on since 2008 when it ruled the Chinese fine wine market. While the vineyards are planted to 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot, each year the proportions vary according to the vintage, normally with Cabernet Sauvignon accounting for 80-90% of the blend.
Other Reviews....
A blend of 96% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Merlot and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2024 Lafite Rothschild offers up aromas of minty blackcurrants, violets, incense, loamy soil and cigar box, followed by a medium-bodied, pillowy and open-knit palate built around tangy acids and powdery tannins, concluding with a discreetly herbal finish. Harvest began on September 24 and concluded on October 4, delivering a Lafite in something of a throwback style, nodding to the wines made here in the 1970s.
91-94 points
William Kelley - Wine AdvocateThe 2024 Lafite-Rothschild is a sensual, elegant wine very much in the style of the year. Plush and enveloping, with lovely forward fruit, the 2024 is very Lafite, perhaps a bit reticent, but super-expressive just the same. Black cherry, pomegranate, blood orange and a kiss of espresso all build in the glass, framed by quintessentially finessed Lafite tannins. The 2024 is sublime. I expect it will be one of the to be one of the top wines in the Médoc when all is said and done. Drink 2034-2064.

Antonio Galloni - VinousRich texture, this stands head and shoulders above many in the vintage, with graphite, crayon and cassis bud rather than exuberant black fruits. This is precise, savoury, delineated, floral, gunsmoke, juicy, captures the effortless elegance that Lafite does so so well, and it totally delivers. Harvest 23 September to 7 October, 32hl/h yield, above the Pauillac average, 16% press wine included in the blend. Director Eric Kohler's 33rd year in Pauillac. I am giving a slightly earlier begin drinking date than usual, but I am certain this will age exceptionally well as Lafite always does. Drink 2032-2050.

Jane Anson - Inside BordeauxPauillac; 96% Cabernet Sauvignon; 3% Merlot; 1% Petit Verdot; a final yield of 32 hl/ha and representing just a third of the total production; 12.9% alcohol; the first vintage certified organic; tasted at Duhart-Milon with Saskia de Rothschild). Quite plump and plush for the vintage. Like its stablemate Duhart this is very spherical in its shape in the mouth, with gloriously refined cashmere tannins encircling the fresh, bright, crisp and crunchy dark berries and the black cherries – just à point – that form the dense and compact core around which the wine is structured vertically. Horizontally, the wine is again highly structured by a very well-defined central spine around which the graphite seems to gather with the tannins in this dimension stretching out the fruit over the palate. Very classical, very pure and precise, very focussed and always tender, soft and gently seductive. Almost opulent, but never quite, the austerity of the vintage reining it back and rendering this a little more ethereal and also a little more intellectual in the process.
