1995 Edradour 200th Anniversary 30 Year Old Sherry Cask Batch No.1 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1399. 00Bottle$16788.00 DozenABV: 56.3%Batch No.1s are more desirable for some, especially collectors, plus this has the added attraction of being a birthday bottling. Drinkers sometimes find that first batches feature the best liquid available at the time, with subsequent batches often not quite stacking up. Whether or not that's true, this is the second oldest release to date in the distillery's long-running Ibisco Decanter series, and no doubt intended to celebrate everything that Andrew Symington adores about extreme sherry-matured malts. The outturn was 1287 bottles from two first-fill oloroso sherry butts. 56.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

1989 Edradour 200th Anniversary 35 Year Old Enigma 2 Sherry Cask #368 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1999. 00Bottle$23988.00 DozenABV: 62.3%Edradour's founder, Andrew Symington made a lot of very astute purchases when he started Signatory Vintage back in 1988. Most of those were aligned with his personal preference for the deepest, darkest sherry bombs money could buy. At the time, he was procuring a bunch of first rate casks for releases down the track. That time has now come. Two venerable whiskies, and arguably the highlights of Edradour’s 200th anniversary collection are Enigma 1 & Enigma 2, representing the inaugural editions in the luxe series. Both are blockbuster malts displaying amazing colour saturation. The latter (Cask #368) spent all its life in a modern concrete warehouse (partly underground with air circulated round it 24 hours a day). These conditions resulted in a lower outturn than Enigma 1, but in a whisky with greater alcoholic strength. 379 bottles were drawn from the first-fill butt, the liquid infused with rich, dark dried fruit, chocolate and coffee flavours. Both gems come suitably packaged in a presentation case accompanied by two crystal cut Glencairn glasses. 62.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

1989 Edradour 200th Anniversary 35 Year Old Enigma 1 Sherry Cask #355 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1999. 00Bottle$23988.00 DozenABV: 52.6%'Enigma 1', like its sister cask 'Enigma 2', was distilled in 1989 and matured for 35 years in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt. The two bottlings differ slightly, and are intended to demonstrate the results of contrasting maturation conditions. A damp dunnage warehouse yields less liquid loss but a far greater strength loss. A dry, well-aired concrete warehouse yields a much higher liquid loss but retains a greater alcoholic strength. It is from the former environment that cask #355 emerged in 2025. Bottled at 52.6%, this is perhaps the most quintessential example of the distillery’s traditional sherried house-style and will likely be the most coveted release in the 200th Anniversary collection. 498 bottles were produced, each presented in an elegant wooden presentation box with two crystal glasses. Very limited stocks. 52.6% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

2021 Nicks Secret OKR Yarra Valley Sauvignon BlancYarra Valley, Victoria, AUSTRALIAReduced from $29.99$14. 99Bottle$179.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 3 Years (2026-2029)ABV: 12.2%Closure: StelvinThis new Nicks Secret wines hails from one of the biggest names in the Yarra Valley who have been producing wine since 1978. Sourced from an upper Yarra north-facing vineyard, situated on the red volcanic soils of Gladysdale, it was fermented in 500 litre French oak puncheons and then matured for 10 months on lees to provide additional texture.
A dry, Bordeaux styled Sauvignon that combines textural shape with varietal freshness and zip.
Brilliant very pale straw colour with green tinted edges and a watery hue. Aromas of lime and pear are gently overlaid by some smoky notes with hints of grilled asparagus, herbaceous grassy characters and flint. Carry nice textural shape, the palate is detailed with lime, green apple and lemon fruits which meld into a gently smoked pencil shavings back drop of asparagus, herbaceous grassy elements and flinty mineral accents. Crisp refreshing acidity with a dry finish that still shows plenty of zip.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

A blend of 90/10% sauvignon blanc/semillon. Whole-bunch pressed then fermented and matured in 500L puncheons. Left on lees, unstirred. With its appetising aromas of ripe pear, quince and lemon, this is more white Bordeaux in style than Loire Valley, while the dry, flinty medium-bodied palate has good weight and tension. Drink by 2027.

Destined for export markets, where it would normally sell for around $30, it’s now been cleared out a price that’s almost unheard of for quality Yarra Valley Cabernets.
A Yarra Valley Cabernet that shows ample fruit, a savoury elegance and impressive complexity for the price.
Sourced from high quality vineyards in Coldstream, Yarra Glen and Seville, this is a blend of 74% Cabernet Sauvignon and 26% Merlot matured for 15 months in French oak barrels. Totally opaque black dark red colour with a red to dark red hue. Lifted blackcurrant and mulberry scents are intertwined with gentle cigar box, dried herb, earthy black olive and spice notes. 2020 Les Forts de Latour Pre-Arrival OfferPauillac, Bordeaux, FRANCE$399. 00Bottle$4788.00 DozenABV: 13%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
The 2020 Les Forts de Latour is composed of 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26.5% Merlot and 3.5% Petit Verdot, incorporating a 64-hectoliter tank of Merlot that would normally have been included in the Grand Vin but which didn't fit with this year's blend. Unwinding in the glass with aromas of minty cassis, plums, licorice, pipe tobacco and vanilla pod, it's medium to full-bodied, rich and velvety, with terrific depth at the core and a somewhat more textural, granular profile than the suave 2019. Drink 2027-2055.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2020 Les Forts de Latour is superb. Hints of gravel, dried herbs, game and licorice weave through a core of dark red/purplish fruit. Spice, cedar and sweet pipe tobacco follow. The purity of the flavors is just striking. Initially a touch reticent, the 2020 fleshes out beautifully with a bit of air. I would give this at least another year or two in bottle. A magnificent Forts de Latour. Drink 2028-2045.

James SucklingA blockbuster of a Les Forts, the 2020 Les Forts de Latour is based on 70% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26.5% Merlot, and the rest Petit Verdot and aged 18 months in 60% new French oak. Its deep ruby/plum hue is followed by textbook Latour notes of currants, melted crayon, graphite, and lead pencil shavings. Medium to full-bodied, dense, and concentrated on the palate, it has a powerful, structured mouthfeel, remarkable purity, perfectly ripe tannins, and a great, great finish. It might be the finest Les Forts I've tasted. Hitting 13.1% alcohol, it's approachable today yet has another 30 years of longevity. Drink 2026-2056.

Jeb DunnuckBeautiful almost sweet violet fragrance, so floral, pot pourri. Round and supple, a lovely weight and texture, warming fruit, deep and concentrated with fleshy, sweet, chewy and mouthwatering tannins, all combing to give a complete and enjoyable expression. Still a touch tight on the finish suggesting this has got plenty more life and potential to age well. What does strike me is how polished it is, it’s finessed but also shiny, sleek, elegant and stylish. I really like this. 79 IPT. 5.1% press wine. 44% production. Drink 2026-2045.

Aberlour 13 Year Old Double Cask Matured Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 40%Other reviews... The recipe combines whiskies matured in American oak and oloroso sherry casks, and serves up hot chocolate powder, red apple, white pepper, oak char, and Asian spices on the nose. The flavor trajectory starts with red apple, sultana, and butterscotch, rolling in baking spices, especially nutmeg and cinnamon, and ending with creamy vanilla as the spices subside. The finish is slightly drying with flavors of baking chocolate and dusty spices. (Travel Retail exclusive) 90 points - whiskyadvocate.com

Aberfeldy 18 Year Old Sangiovese Italian Wine Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$250. 00Bottle$3000.00 DozenABV: 46%After decades of wine-influenced single malts hitting the market with variable results, some producers are starting to understand that a lot can be won with balance. When done right, wine casks can offer something a little off the beaten track. By most reports, Aberfeldy are leading the way with their "Wine Cask Series". This one comes matured in casks that previously held Italian Sangiovese red wine. 46% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Other reviews... Aberfeldy has fully embraced wine cask maturation. Many of their limited releases now feature such a cask type. The Wine Cask Series was created late last year. First a 15-year-old was released, but today we’ll be looking at the Aberfeldy 18 Years Sangiovese Red Wine Cask Finish. Today’s 18-year-old was finished in ex-Sangiovese red wine casks sourced from Tuscany’s Valdarno di Sopra region. I don’t mind wine, like at all, but I won’t pretend to be familiar with this particular region either. Instead we’ll just dive right in... Delicate, yet nicely balanced, especially for a wine matured single malt. That may sound snobbish, but it can be a challenge to not turn whisky into winesky. In general, these types of releases seem to have improved over the years. - wordsofwhisky.com

Non chill-filtered and released at cask strength.
Other reviews... Colour: gold. Nose: gingery, cinnamon and spices. Green peppercorn, charred pineapple, cereal, waxes and a little aniseed. With water: nutmeg, cedar wood and sandalwood, with some subtle beach sand and healthier horny vibes – feeling suitably ‘Orcadian’ and even a little bit HP, dare I say. Mouth: grippy spices and a nice menthol note on arrival. Eucalyptus, lemon verbena, bergamot and dried exotic fruits in muesli. With water: herbal, honeyed and waxier. Still quite spicy but the overall weight, texture and dried fruity vibes are lovely. Finish: good length, on coconut, herbal teas, heather honey and peppery spice again. Comments: very good, oak involvement once again but it’s a solid older Scapa with excellent development and a clear Orkney accent. 88 points - whiskyfun.com

Fancier malbec, in a more traditional way.
Firm tannin frames a deeply juicy, dark berries, choc-cherried, spicy/herbal, dusty, truffley wine. Serious structure for the variety, a very big palate reset in blood orange acidity and that gravelly chew of tannin – very good drinking, ideal for the stickier, richer dishes on the table. Comprises 13 clones, wild fermentation, gentle extraction, post-ferment maceration, maturation in French and Hungarian oak. Sangiovese is a big reason why the Marsons chose their new home in Heathcote. In a top year like '21, they have a solid canvas on which to paint a beautifully expressive sangiovese: fragrant, sweet fruited, earthy, savoury. Combines dark, spiced blood plums, ripe black berries and cherries with striking herbals, sage, anise, earth, woodsmoke and undergrowth. Bottle age is bringing everything together beautifully on a body of ripe tannins. Drink by 2035.

So fine, so delicate and just starting its journey. With a liveliness of florals, it smells like spring itself: honeysuckle, white flowers, acacia, green almond, apple and honeydew melon. Zesty fresh, it strikes a lively balance between racy, lemony acidity and a floral, citrus prettiness. Green apple, light florals, grapefruit pith and zest run long and true and crunchy fresh. The blend of 66/20/8/6% cabernet sauvignon/merlot/malbec/petit verdot. This is well modulated, each variety in sync to make this complete and harmonious. The upfront fruit flavours, mainly cassis and mulberries, are tempered by lots of savoury inputs – the nutty, cedary oak, the waft of menthol, baking spices and an earthy fragrance, even a freshly whittled pencil, remember that? Medium bodied with densely packed tannins and textural if not a little raspy. Very good. Drink by 2038.

Jane Faulkner - James Halliday’s Australian Wine CompanionThis blend of largely cabernet with smaller contributions from merlot, malbec and petit verdot is sourced from the Woodlands Brook Vineyard and the Wilyabrup Valley. It was introduced a few years ago and has steadily moved up in completeness and complexity. This is the best yet. It has power and poise with deep fruit intensity edged with a minerally chalky tannins and a trace of graphite. This is a serious statement of a Margaret River red blend.

The 2023 Onkaparinga Grenache is starting to come together in the glass, although I have been working hard at encouraging it to do so. The 2023 Grenaches from Clarendon Hills are aligned in their brooding, dark, tarry bouquets. I admit to being surprised by these qualities, given the plushness of fruit inherent on the palates. Here, the 2023 Onkaparinga Grenache is driven by a palate of sweet spicy fruit and shaped by gritty, pliable, sandy tannins. The chew of the wine, on the middle palate, is refreshing and satisfying, and it indicates that the wine will look even better tomorrow. Despite the cooler year and the lower alcohol (for Grenache), this is a bruisingly big wine, with a pure core of red fruit wrapped in a case of tannin, and with bracing acidity. 14% alcohol, sealed under Diam. It may sound like the proverbial broken record, but anyone who has not overstocked their cellar with the superb wines from the 2021 vintage in regions like the Barossa will come to regret their inexplicable dithering. The wine is named after a family ancestor who commissioned the first paddle steamer seen on the Murray River (okay, perhaps not quite the search for the source of the Nile, but still very impressive). After fermentation, maturation was in American oak, 40% of which was new, for a year and a half. The final wine is a barrel selection. Under cork. Near black in colour, with a dark maroon rim, the quality of the year shines through. We have aromas weaving through tobacco leaves, chocolate, beef stock, mocha, cocoa powder, cassis and a hint of gum leaf. There is serious concentration here with a supple, sleek and seductive texture, leading to silky tannins. The wine has balance, density and energy. Still refreshing, it offers superb length and will drink magnificently for the next twenty years. Drink 2026-2046.

Ken Gargett – WinePilot.comA truly marvelous example of this wonderful Barossa vintage. It's made with a distinct handcrafted style from the picking through to the winery, where it's managed in small batches. Deep dark colors on the nose of plummy black fruits, dark chocolate, and subtle spices combined beautifully. The palate packs so much, and yet it is supremely balanced and poised. Spicy dark fruits with a slightly more pronounced mocha richness complementing the berries' dark chocolate notes. Has everything you want to support extended cellaring.

The Glen Grant distillery is named after its two founders, James and John Grant who built the distillery in Rothes in 1840. After their death, the son of James, Major James Grant took over the business, and built another distillery across the road naming it “Glen Grant II” (today known as Caperdonich). The Major always aimed at producing a first rate malt, and so designed the distilleries especially tall, slender stills and purifiers himself. He reputedly enjoyed leading guests through his exotic gardens to a nearby falls where, taken from his secret whisky safe, he’d offer drams of Glen Grant accompanied by spring water drawn from the same Speyside burn that still feeds the distillery today. When the Major died, his grand son, Major Douglas Mackessack took over the distillery, continuing its success.Like most distilleries, Glen Grant closed its doors during the two World Wars due to a lack of barley and has since changed ownership several times. Most recently, the distillery was sold in 2006 to the Italian group Campari as a result of the acquisition of Allied Domecq by Pernod Ricard. Glen Grant remains one of the world's best-selling single malts (being especially popular in Italy), and is also available in various independent and vintage bottlings.
Tasting note: Pale straw colour. Moderate bouquet yields semi sweet, mildly fruity scents (nashi pear) followed by hints of dried grass. Light to medium bodied with subtle flavours of biscuity malt, vanilla and spice. Finishes dry and clean with a touch of fruitiness offering freshness. A little short. Light easy drinking. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other Reviews: (95 points) - (n23.5) OK: let's take turns in counting the rungs on the barley ladder here...the usual crisp aroma, but softened by deft, if unspecific fruitiness (maybe the distant aroma of a very old orange and by no means unpleasant!), myriad vanilla and butterscotch notes can do without the toffee one; (t24) magnificent! A malty delivery which simultaneously melts in the mouth, yet offers granite-like barley that crashes into your teeth; the star, perhaps are the sugars which vary from caster, through golden syrup and pans out somewhere in the muscovado range - curiously honey-free, though; (f23) a tad tangy, though the caramel returns to turn out the lights after the butterscotch and marzipan say goodnight...; (b23.5) unquestionably the best official 10yo bottling i have tasted from this distillery. Absolutely nails it! Oh, and had they bottled this at 46% abv and without the trimmings...my word! Might well have been a contender for Scotch Whisky of the Year. It won't be long before word finally gets out just how bloody good this distillery is. - Jim Murrays Whisky Bible 2013
