2024 Osicka Selection Colbinabbin Cabernet Sauvignon
A juicy, medium weighted Cabernet Sauvignon.
Midnight black in colour with a dark red black tinged hue. Red to black currant and red liquorice aromas laced with mint are followed by some vanillin cedar, subtle earthy black olive and bay leaf notes. Medium bodied, the palate features juicy red currant and red liquorice fruits over a mint infused back drop of vanillin cedar, delicate earth, tobacco and spicy bay leaf. Fine grained tannins and youthful acidity with a delicious medium to long fruit driven conclusion.
Drink over the next 5-6 years.
Alc. 14.5%
Other Reviews…..
Whole-berry fruit, small open fermenters, carbonic maceration pre-ferment, 24 days on skins, pressed, maturation in French oak (20% new). Year in, year out, this smart-priced cabernet over-delivers big time. There's so much to enjoy, not the least is the underrated quality of Heathcote cabernet, which simply shines in warmth, texture and oh-so lively, sweet-spiced cabernet fruit. A mild season brings forth a fine-tannined core for a wealth of violets, cassis, bracken and leaves, briar, earth, mulberry, black berries and some peppery, minty-fuelled spices that bring out the best in approachable, enjoyable drinking now… and later. Drink by 2034.
