2021 Vinea Marson Sangiovese
A well fleshed, medium bodied Sangiovese with a touch of rusticity to it and a long, savoury finish.
Dark red in colour with black tinged edges and a red to dark red hue. Lifted red to black currant and red cherry aromas intermix with earth, dried herb, leather and subtle spicy tobacco notes. Rich red to dark currant and red liquorice fruits carry a well fleshed feel and medium body weight. Notions of dark cherry, tobacco, dried herbs, earthy leather and spice ensue. Quite polished in its feel yet showing some rusticity it has fine grainy tannins, fresh acidity and a long savoury finish.
Drink over the next 3-4 years.
Alc. 14.5%

Perfumed and lifted, with aromas of red and black cherries, damson plums, violets, red apple skins, lilacs and lead pencil. The palate is plush and rounded, with a fine line of acidity and firmly framed and refined tannins. Delicious and varietal, showing plenty of floral lift and perfume, with a Tuscan touch. High-toned, with a subtle Negroni-like edge. Drink or hold.

Comprises 13 clones, wild fermentation, gentle extraction, post-ferment maceration, maturation in French and Hungarian oak. Sangiovese is a big reason why the Marsons chose their new home in Heathcote. In a top year like '21, they have a solid canvas on which to paint a beautifully expressive sangiovese: fragrant, sweet fruited, earthy, savoury. Combines dark, spiced blood plums, ripe black berries and cherries with striking herbals, sage, anise, earth, woodsmoke and undergrowth. Bottle age is bringing everything together beautifully on a body of ripe tannins. Drink by 2035.
