Santis Malt Smoke & Peat Exploration Lahroaig Cask Edition Single Malt Swiss Whisky (500ml)
    SWITZERLAND
    $199. 99
    Bottle
    $2399.88 Dozen

Critics view Santis Malt either as an "unbalanced experiment", or a refreshing, creative departure from standard malt whiskies. Add Laphroaig to the mix, and this could well be their most controversial whisky to date! One in a series of cask exploration limited editions, we'd expect this youngster to be pretty intense with notes of bonfire and dried fruits.

Santis Malt Kamor Edition Single Malt Swiss Whisky (500ml)
    SWITZERLAND
    $134. 99
    Bottle
    $1619.88 Dozen
    ABV: 48%

From a distillery in the Swiss Alps at the foot of Säntis mountain. The facility started out as a brewery and its distinctive approach makes use of beer barrels for whisky maturation. This edition was aged in ex-Appenzeller beer casks, ex-Bierbrand casks, and a range of wine and fortified wine casks including Sherry, Port, and Bordeaux. The high-altitude Alpine environment and the cask provenance create a whisky unlike any other Swiss or European product. 'Kamor' is reported to build on the legacy of the "Edition Trinity" but shines as a unique profile with its earthy, moderately peated, and malty sweet character. 48% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Aroma: Fine smoky notes, slightly earthy and slightly bacony. Hints of smokehouse, malt, vanilla, and toffee. Overall, a rather restrained, fine, and well-structured nose.
Taste: Full-bodied and round, ashy smokiness, association of potting soil in the spring sun, toffee, vanilla and caramel with distant hints of Virginia tobacco. Finish: Long-lasting and highly aromatic.

Santis Malt Jubilaeums Edition Single Malt Swiss Whisky (500ml)
    SWITZERLAND
    $220. 00
    Bottle
    $2640.00 Dozen
    ABV: 48%

This Whisky Trek tenth anniversary bottling is reportedly a blend from all 'Whisky Trek' editions and features robust notes of roasted malt, butterscotch, tropical fruits, and spicy pepper. Launched in 2015 by Säntis Malt and local mountain landlords, Whisky Trek is considered the highest whisky tour in the world. There are 26 participating mountain huts, each holding their own distinct barrel of Säntis Malt. While the base distillate is the same, each barrel is aged at a different altitude and in different wood (e.g., sherry, port, red wine, rum, or cognac casks), resulting in 26 distinct flavour profiles. For this limited edition the outturn was 1600 bottles at 48% Alc./Vol.

A rich, luscious Alsatian styled Pinot Gris.

Bright straw colour with a watery hue. Enthralling the olfactory senses are exotic scents of ripe pear, lychee, rosewater and musk with some baked apple and ginger spice notes also evident. Rich, luscious ripe pear, red apple, honeysuckle and musk flavours engulf the mouth. Flashes of lychee and ginger spice lie underneath. Viscous in it’s texture, it has a fresh off dry finish that’s long and enveloping.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

A hat tip to the classic style from Alsace, harvested at optimal ripeness to deliver a range of natural flavours and white spice with fresh white nectarine and pear, a satin texture, refreshing acid line and distinctive mouthfeel. The fruit is gently pressed then fermented in stainless steel tanks at a cool temperature to retain varietal purity and freshness. The wine is then lees aged (sur lie), prior to bottling. A decent acid line and fine tannins mouthfeel add length and complexity. Best drinking from 2024 through 2027.

    2025 Chateau Les Carmes Haut-Brion Pre-Arrival Offer
    Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, FRANCE

The 2025 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a blend of 54% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 17% Merlot, one of the highest proportions of Cabernet Franc at the estate and comparable to 2016. It was vinified with 65% whole clusters and matured in 70% new oak. It reveals a complex, harmonious bouquet of pomegranate, iris and peony, intertwined with cassis, mulberries and dark berries. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and structured, it’s deep and layered, its concentrated core of fruit framed by velvety structuring tannins, concluding with a long, mineral-inflected finish. Combining tension with an ethereal profile, it delivers remarkable clarity, freshness and elegance. While slightly more overtly structured at this stage than the prodigious 2022, it remains impeccably balanced.

Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a huge, powerful wine that is going to need many years to come into its own. Dark red/purplish fruit, lavender, incense, melted road tar and licorice make a bold entrance. Fertility in the Merlots was low. As a result, the 2025 has the highest amount of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon ever, 83% in total as opposed to the more typical 70% or so. Whole clusters, always a part of the approach here, are 65%. Time on skins was 45 days at 27°C (80.6°F) compared to the 35 days at 30°C (86°F) that is more typical. Readers will find an especially deep, potent Carmes, a wine that will need the better part of a decade to shed some of its considerable baby fat. It's a telling example of the vintage, with 1% less alcohol than in most recent years. Today the 2025 is a mere infant. It's another exceptional wine from Technical Director Guillaume Pouthier and his team. Drink 2033-2075.

The precision is so seductive and intellectual, with aromas of fresh flowers, iron, graphite, cedar, blood oranges and black fruit. It's medium-bodied with a compact palate of intense tannins that melt into the wine. Rather weightless in nature. It kicks in at the end with incredible intensity and focus. 13% alcohol. 65% whole cluster. 54% cabernet franc, 29% cabernet sauvignon and 17% merlot, mostly co-fermented.

Deeper-hued than the C des Carmes cuvée, with a gorgeous perfume of red, blue, and black fruits intermixed with graphite, leafy herbs, iris, and subtle floral, minty, and almost peppery nuances, the 2025 Château Carmes Haut-Brion is based on 54% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Merlot, vinified with 65% whole clusters. On the palate, it's wonderfully textured and medium to full-bodied, with a round, layered, expansive mouthfeel and ultra-fine tannins. I love its overall balance, it has no hard edges, and while there's plenty of tannins here (IPT 82), they're perfectly integrated and polished. It checks in at 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.59, and this is just loaded with charm and character.

Gorgeously fragrant on the nose with so many perfumed scents – violets, iris, peonies, cinnamon, exotic spices, black chocolate, something slightly sweet and aromatic with blackcurrant and dark bramble berries. Succulent and juicy with a powdery element to the tannins that fills the mouth straight away. I love the integration of the acidity – this has brightness but is also quite calm and charming, softer than expected. Sleek, sophisticated, full of complexity and nuance yet with real depth, intensity, concentration and integrity. Very true to place and to Guillaume Pouthier’s style. Succulent and floral Cabernets, aromatic all the way through, super long, graceful and full of width and flavour while staying clean. Ripe with tannins that fill the mouth – fleshy, grippy but wide and lifted – giving a gorgeous texture. A little citrus tang to the acidity but overall full of life and focus. Brilliant. 3.59pH. A yield of 38hl/ha overall (29hl/ha Merlot, 45hl/ha Cabernet Sauvignon). 65% whole bunch fermentation. Drink 2033-2048.

Almost opaque in color, it takes no effort to dig into the floral display. From there you encounter black cherries, licorice, spice box, menthol, cigar wrappers, blackberries and crushed rocks in the aromas. The palate is what steals the show with its vivid display of black, with red fruits, elegant, silky textures, and most importantly, purity of fruit. The velvety finish spreads all over your palate with touches of sea-salt, cocoa, Indian spices and lingering, dark fruits. Clearly, this is in competition with the best vintages the estate has ever produced. The ability to manage the potential of hydric stress, due to their terroir is a large part of what helped make 2025 such a success. The wine was made using 65% whole bunch clusters, blending 54% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 17% Merlot. It is interesting to note this is the highest percentage of Cabernet ever included in the blend. I think it really works here. 13% ABV, pH 3.59. The wine is aging in a combination of 70% new, French oak, 19% foudres, and 11% amphora. Picking took place September 7- September 19. Drink from 2029-2065.

A blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 38% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Cantenac Brown unwinds in the glass with notes of crème de criss, pencil shavings and a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, supple and suave, with sweet, powdery tannins and a fleshy, enveloping profile, it's broad-shouldered but judiciously extracted.

The 2025 Cantenac Brown is quite the powerhouse. Dark and ample in feel, the 2025 offers gorgeous presence and class to burn. Crème de cassis, new leather, lavender, menthol, licorice and mocha are some of the many notes that open with a bit of coaxing. There's tremendous substance and stuffing here. The tannins are quite fine, which is especially remarkable considering the wine's intense fruit. Drink 2035-2065.

Lovely fragranced perfume aromatics with such purity and focus, elements of sticky liquorice and graphite. Smooth and so well balanced, velvety and soft tannins with a touch of cool blueberry and wet stones that linger on the mouth. Ends really cool, stony and fresh. I love the construction and the overall texture. Everything in balance. I love the intensity here, you get layers and texture and fruit with such delicacy and detail. Really a great wine in the making and I love the slightly darker edge to the fruit with some herbal, minty and liquorice spice. It’s got a really long finish too, the flavours last and last. 65% grand vin, no malolactic in barrel, no vinification intégrale. 1% Petit Verdot completes the blend. A yield of 28hl/ha. Drink 2032-2046.

The 2025 d'Issan is fabulous. Inky and racy to the core, the 2025 Issan has so much to offer. Crème de cassis, menthol, licorice, cloves, gravel and mocha all meld together in the glass. Sumptuous and seamless with exceptional balance, the 2025 is a real stunner. This is an especially dense d'Issan that reflects the intensity of the year. Tasted two times. Drink 2040-2075.

A tight and juicy red with blackberry, cherry, plum and spice aromas and flavors. It’s medium-bodied with a creamy texture and a crunchy finish. Refined for the vintage, with plenty of character and length.

    James Suckling

Cassis, black cherries, smoky tobacco, graphite, and a chalky minerality all shine from the 2025 Château D'Issan, a blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 2% Cabernet Franc, 2% Malbec, and 2% Petit Verdot that's being raised in 50% new barriques with the balance in once-used barrels. Reminding me slightly of the 2016 with its balance and elegance, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, graceful mouthfeel, fine tannins, and outstanding length. It builds beautifully with time in the glass, and checking in at 13.73% alcohol with a pH of 3.63, this is going to be an incredibly satisfying, classic, complex Margaux that exudes class and elegance.
    94-96 points

Violets and iris notes on the nose. Supple and succulent with a drop of sweet strawberries balanced against quite fresh blackcurrants, liquorice and cola. I love the texture – streamlined, focused, detailed, so smooth and sophisticated. Maybe a more dark profile than recent vintages but feels so well constructed with a firm frame and cool drive from start to finish. It has layers, this isn’t lacking in any power or muscle but it doesn’t have any heaviness or chew and in that respect it gives a lot of wine without much weight at all. Grippy, fun, interesting, captivating and so easy to drink. Potential upscore in bottle. 2% Malbec and 2% Cabernet Franc complete the blend. 3.63pH. A yield of 29hl/ha. Drink 2032-2047.

The 2025 Beychevelle reveals a toasty, oak-marked bouquet of dark wild berries, licorice and spice. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and concentrated, it’s built around an assertive tannic frame, concluding with a long, spicy, licorice-inflected finish. While the wine is marked by both concentration and oak at this stage, élevage may bring greater finesse and a more integrated, enveloping tannic profile.
    92-93 points
Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Beychevelle was picked from September 5 to 21 at 31 hl/ha, fairly reasonable for Saint-Julien this year, albeit the second lowest after 2013. Matured in 70% new oak, this has a concentrated nose with blackcurrants, blueberry, inkwell and light violet scents. Very fine definition, a Beychevelle that leans on the more opulent side aromatically, though always controlled. The palate is medium-bodied with a velvety smooth entry that lends it sensuality. Extremely precise, exquisite pure fruit, quite mineral-driven with a very long, quite sensual finish. I don't think Philippe Blanc has overseen a Beychevelle as good as this. 13.4% alcohol. Drink 2032-2060.
    95-97 points
    Neal Martin - Vinous

The 2025 Beychevelle is a very sexy wine. Plush and exuberant, the 2025 is seriously impressive right out of the gate. Blackberry, lavender, mocha, crème de cassis and a kick of French oak are all beautifully amplified in the glass. The blend is 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, with the plush richness of the Merlot very much in evidence. There's a lot of wine here. The 2025 spent three weeks on the skins, more or less the norm here, but it also includes 13% press wine, a bit higher than most years. More than anything else, the 2025 is a wine of extreme pleasure. It is an exceptional Beychevelle, one of the finest in recent memory. Drink 2035-2075.

Spicy, with dark fruit aromas. Angular in style, with a linear profile and precise, focused tannins. It shows clarity, fresh dark fruit and balance that stands out.

    Jacobo García Andrade - JamesSuckling.com

A brilliant, deeply hued wine, the 2025 Château Beychevelle is based on 52% Cabernet Sauvignon, 43% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot, and is still resting in 70% new oak. One of the earliest harvests ever recorded at this château, with very tiny yields, it has a ripe, sexy, gorgeously textured style with ripe black cherries, graphite, spicy wood, and dried flowers on the nose. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a round, layered mouthfeel, velvety tannins, and a blockbuster finish. Hitting 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.6, this is a ripe, expressive Beychevelle that will evolve gracefully for 30 years or more. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Such a gorgeous fragrance on the nose, so alive, so floral and expressive with milk chocolate, cherries and violets. Grippy and alive in the mouth, fun, bright, certainly full of tannins and grip with a lovely core of black bramble fruit with straight acidity. I like the very hands-off nature, it’s refined and finessed, still young and a little shy but lots of tannins are so well handled by the fruit purity and acidity. It’s a big, powerful, muscular wine but so poised, mouthwatering and charming. It has a spiced kick on the finish which adds to the complexity. 3.6pH. 80 IPT. 13% press wine. 60% of production. Reduced maceration by 5-7 days. Ageing 70% new oak. Drink 2030-2044.

The 2025 Trotte Vieille shows exceptional potential, unfurling in the glass with aromas of ripe blueberries, violets, subtle spices and pencil shavings. Full-bodied, layered and velvety, it's deep, concentrated and refined, with lively acids, lovely purity and a long, penetrating finish. This limestone terroir on Saint-Emilion's plateau is really showing its pedigree, and it has produced one of the highlights of the vintage.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Trotte Vieille soars out of the glass. Freshly cut flowers, mocha, dried herbs, menthol and espresso meld into a core of rich, deeply layered dark fruit. Trotte Vieille is a rare Saint-Émilion that features Cabernet Franc. All of that intensely floral/savory character (and the matching structure) is in evidence today. The 2025 builds beautifully in the glass, revealing myriad dimensions of intensity. Blue-toned fruit, gravel, cloves, lavender, licorice and espresso linger. The only question is how long the 2025 is going to need. Drink 2035-2065.

Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château Trottevieille is based on 51% Cabernet Franc, 46% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Sauvignon that's resting all in new barrels. It has an absolutely brilliant nose of cassis, graphite, wood smoke, and crushed stone, and it's full-bodied and concentrated on the palate, with beautiful mid-palate depth, ripe, polished tannins, flawless overall balance, and a great finish.

Softly fragrant, dark fruit and heady, exotic sweet spices – cinnamon, cedar, clove. Bright acidity makes the first mark, mouthwatering with such smooth, silky tannins with a slight crisp, crunchy aspect to the red fruit. Still a little marked by the wood at this point – more streamlined than TrotteVieille can be – more delicate in terms of texture and impact but still with concentration and fruit. I like the friendliness, great balance and still lots going on. Grippy, dark, spiced tannin impression on the finish. Refined and ageing should add more flesh and density on the mid palate. Ageing 100% new oak. Drink 2032-2048.

The 2025 Phélan Ségur was picked between September 10 and 26 at 29 hl/ha, matured in 55% new oak barrels. Again, this is a Saint-Estèphe that is cut in a more mellow and classical style compared to the 2020 or 2022, for example. Mainly black fruit, the Cabernet-dominated scents of cedar and tobacco emerge within a couple of swirls, with just a light touch of tea leaves in the background. The palate is medium-bodied, with fine-boned tannins matched by a silver thread of acidity. Very well balanced and unequivocally in the more elegant style, without the concentration or voluptuousness of the 2022. This is more sleek and refined, ergo, an earlier-drinking Phélan Ségur that delivers elegance and refinement. Just a lovely Saint-Estèphe that was presumed vanquished by global warming. Drink 2030-2055.

Cassis, spring flowers, graphite, and spicy nuances all shine on the nose, and it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with gorgeous tannins and a velvety, perfectly balanced mouthfeel. I love the overall balance here, and it checks in at 13.6% alcohol with a pH of 3.73. This is up there with the finest vintages from this château to date. Bravo.

Incredible colour in the glass – vivid purple core with a bright pink rim. Smells inviting – creamy strawberry, freshly cut herbs and pink roses. Smooth and supple, excellent construction in the round and filling tannins with a gorgeous chewy aspect to them. Mouthwatering but also slightly sweet strawberry flavours make this so fruity and charming. Soft, sophisticated, refined but really welcoming. Powdery tannins with ripe fruit. This is such assured winemaking with precision and focus. Refined. Succulent, totally moreish. Not massively shouting, despite the texture it retains a cool aspect with a stony grip on the bottom. Lovely. A complete package. One of the best I’ve tasted from this estate. Yield of 29hl/ha. 3.73pH. 80IPT. 65% grand vin production. The 2025 Feytit-Clinet has quite a bit of reduction on the nose, but it blows away to reveal enticing blackberry and bilberry fruit, hints of truffle oil and black pepper. The oak is well integrated. The palate is very well balanced, with a sense of vibrancy, almost urgency, on the entry. Silky smooth tannins, perfectly judged acidity, tender and long on the finish, this might be the best Feytit that I have tasted from barrel, perhaps the "insiders' Pomerol" of the vintage? Drink 2032-2055.

The 2025 Feytit-Clinet is a wild, exotic beauty. Succulent red/purplish fruit, exotic spice, blood orange, mint and rose petal caress the palate. A kiss of new French oak is nicely judged. Floral top notes pull it all together on the close. Stylistically, proprietor Jeremy Chasseuil has moved away from the darker, more extracted wines of the past. Tasted two times. Drink 2033-2055.

Cohesive, with precise tannins and a pretty expression of dark fruit. Velvety and elegant with a bright finish.

A Merlot-heavy blend of 87% Merlot and 13% Cabernet Franc that will spend 15 months in 65% new French oak, the 2025 Château Feytit Clinet is just brilliant, with a full-bodied, deep, and layered profile packed with blue and black fruits, chocolate, and tobacco. On the palate, it's concentrated and powerful yet stays weightless and flawlessly balanced, with velvety tannins and a great finish. Hitting 14% alcohol, this is up with the crème de la crème of the Right Bank, as well as Bordeaux in general.

Some tobacco, cedar and dark chocolate elements on the nose. There’s a sweetness from the oak with clean, ripe fruit behind so it’s a little cloying and highly charged right now with plenty of toasted elements – vanilla, chocolate – that just detract from the overall enjoyment at this point. Still, there’s good direction and persistence from start to finish. This will resolve beautifully after ageing with a silkiness to the fruit. Drink 2030-2044.

A blend of 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc, the 2025 Canon continues this property's brilliant decade-long run of exceptional wines. Unwinding in the glass with a complex bouquet of cherries and raspberries mingled with hints of exotic spices, licorice and petals, it's medium- to full-bodied, suave and concentrated, with a bright spine of acidity and a long, penetrating finish. Harvest stretched from August 28 to September 18.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Canon is a total stunner. Deep and sumptuous in the glass, it offers tons of the vintage's textural intensity along with all the vibrant, saline energy that is such a signature here. Dark-fleshed fruit, mocha, new leather, herbs and dried flowers build gradually in the glass, leading to a huge, dramatic finish laced with hints of blood orange, pomegranate and chalk. The interplay of finesse and power is dazzling. Tasted two times. Drink 2035-2065.

The finesse and sophistication are very impressive, with a medium body, ultra-fine tannins and a rather endless finish. It’s medium-bodied and poised. Great length. A great wine.

Ripe cherries, graphite, crushed flowers, and assorted blue fruits all define the 2025 Château Canon, another great wine from this team, which checks in at 76% Merlot and 24% Cabernet Franc and will spend 16 to 18 months in 49% new French oak, with the balance in foudre. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a remarkably polished, flawlessly balanced mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It hits 14% alcohol with a pH of 3.5 and is very much in the ultra-pure, graceful, classic style this terrific château is known for today. Tasted multiple times with consistent notes. Yields here were 40 hectoliters per hectare with harvest running from the 28th of August (one day earlier than 2022) to the 18th of September.

An outstanding Canon. Cherry, cola, liquorice, slate, blackcurrant with a milk chocolate dusting. Smooth and impactful from the start – chewy but juicy, round, alive and filling – mature but there’s no overt sun in the glass. You can feel the Cabernet Franc and the coolness all round. Good structure, maybe more serious than some Canons in the past, but there’s such purity and focus with excellent tannins as well as plenty of blackcurrants, red cherries and hints of raspberry too Complexity and nuance in abundance. A fabulous wine in the making. Authentic. Drink 2032-2050.

The bouquet of red, white, and purple flowers is what initially grabs your attention. From there, it is the wealth of fruit, with its intensity, and the oceanic influences that keep you focused. The palate balances lift, energy, concentration, and juiciness perfectly. The finish delivers sweet, ripe black and red fruits, which linger and expand, leaving you with layers of salt-tinged, sweet, ripe fruits and a touch of herbs and mint in the endnotes. Key points of the vintage came not only from the ripeness of the fruit, but, interestingly, from their normal yields, which aided in lowering ABV levels and giving better balance. The wine blends 76% Merlot, and 24% Cabernet Franc. 14% ABV. 3.5% pH. The harvest took place from August 28 - September 18. Yields were 40 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2060.

The 2025 Rauzan-Ségla is promising, opening in the glass with notes of cassis, pencil shavings, sweet soil tones and a deft framing of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, bright and layered, it's vibrant and concentrated, with a chassis of fine tannins and a penetrating, youthfully structured finish.

The 2025 Rauzan-Ségla is totally seamless in the glass. Dark-toned fruit, mocha, new leather, licorice, menthol and dried herbs infuse the palate with tremendous textural depth. The 2025 is of course very young. The year's natural concentration is its most evident signature at this time, but the rest will surely follow. Polished, supremely elegant tannins support the finish. What a stunner. Tasted two times. Drink 2035-2065.

Blackberry, dark cherry and crushed stone notes with a medium to full body, extremely fine and polished with a long and pretty finish. Racy and precise. Fresh and fine. Lovel the floral notes in the nose. A blend of 65% cabernet sauvignon, 33% merlot, 1.5% petit verdot, and .5% cabernet franc.

Cassis, assorted red and black fruits, spicy wood, tobacco, and graphite all emerge from the 2025 Château Rauzan-Ségla, a blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 33% Merlot, 1.5% Petit Verdot, and 0.5% Cabernet Franc that's being raised 18 months in 60% new French oak. It's concentrated on the palate, has a pure, layered mouthfeel, flawless balance, and a great finish. Checking in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.7, it's rockingly good and clearly up with the finest wines in the appellation, as well as the vintage.

Gorgeous vibrant pink rim to the wine with violet aromas on the nose, very dark but very perfumed and not at all hot or sunny. So juicy and alive with structure – the soft tannins give the outline while the real fruit purity sits in the middle. I love this a lot, very approachable, streamlined and focused with layers of fine tannins and brightness. You can feel the concentration in the construction but this carries a really fun, friendly, welcoming aspect because of the juiciness on the mid-palate. 50% grand vin production. 3.67pH. Ageing 18 months, 60% new oak. 0.5% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. Drink 2034-2048.

    Pomerol, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $140. 00

    $1680.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Given Chateau Clinet are situated on some of the finest terroir in Pomerol, the wines from here are relatively under the radar relative to some of the most revered wines from the region. Planted to 88% Merlot, 11.5% Cabernet Sauvignon and 0.5% Cabernet Franc, the wines are typically supple with generous richness and complexity. However, as with many in the area, production is small with an average of 3,200 cases produced annually.

    Other Reviews...
Less marked by oak than in recent vintages, the 2025 Clinet reveals a refined bouquet of cedar, dark berries, spice and fresh licorice. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, it’s broad-shouldered yet more tensile than usual, built around a structured core of fruit and concluding with a long, perfumed finish. Reflecting the vintage in its balance between density and approachability, it remains true to the estate’s style, with a firm, robust frame. It will benefit from some years in bottle to fully harmonize. This is a blend of 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon.
    93-95 points
Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Clinet was the earliest picking ever, from September 4, and aged in 60% new oak plus 40% one-year-old barrels. Vintages now have a little more Cabernet Sauvignon, as a hectare of Merlot was uprooted. Now this has a delightful nose, perhaps the most elegant and refined that I have encountered at this stage: vivid red cherry, raspberry and wild strawberry scents, neatly embroidered oak, more floral in style. The palate is medium-bodied with chiselled, fine tannins, bright and tensile, exquisite focus, with a peacock's tail on the finish. Quite crystalline on the finish, this is a Clinet that I would like in my cellar. Or at the dinner table. Or in my glass. Drink 2032-2058.

A composed, well-structured and precise Pomerol showcasing red berries and baking spices on the nose. Full-bodied with plush tannins and fresh acidity. There is energy at the center despite the solid frame of tannins shaping the midpalate. Focused and driven finish.

Dense purple-hued, the 2025 Château Clinet is a ripe, sumptuous, and seamless beauty with so much to love. Ripe red, blue, and black fruits, violets, smoky tobacco, and chocolate all shine on the nose, and it's full-bodied on the palate, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a great finish. It shows just how successful the more clay-dominant soils of Pomerol were in this vintage, and it's unquestionably up with the crème de la crème of the vintage.

Lots of fragrant floral aromatics on the nose, smells so vivid and expressive along with mint, blackcurrant leaf, pepper and tobacco. Supple and generous, immediately both energetic and plush with great tannins, great lift and focus. Joyful and full of red berry juice with chalky tannins that fill the mouth. Spice comes in on the finish. Plump yet also has an element of cool crispness. I like this – it’s elegant and refined while still being mouthwatering and juicy. Great stuff that makes you smile. Salty with a slightly reserved nature but still giving such flavour and complexity. Earliest ever harvest (started 4 September). A yield of 34hl/ha. Ageing 100% in oak (60% new). Drink 2033-2043.

The 2025 Gloria was picked between September 10 and 19 and matured in 50% new oak. The 2025 Gloria is fabulous. Bright, floral and full of life, Gloria is so impressive. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, mint, cinnamon and dried herbs all add energy to this delicious, mid-weight Saint-Julien. Gloria is especially fine in 2025. Don’t miss it. Taste two times. Drink 2030-2045.

Sporting a vivid purple hue, the 2025 Château Gloria offers up cassis, assorted red and blue fruits, liquid violets, and classy oak. Based on 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 6% Petit Verdot, and 4% Cabernet Franc that's being raised in 50% new barrels, it's pure and incredibly polished on the palate, with medium to full-bodied richness, a silky, elegant mouthfeel, and a great finish. It checks in at 13.2% alcohol. As I've written in the past, the quality at this estate continues to soar, and this will hold its own in a blind tasting with some of the top wines with ease. This château needs to be on everyone's radar.

Bramble fruit aromas on the nose. Supple and so controlled with a gorgeous weight on the palate – ripe, filling tannins with a cool vein of freshness that just carries the frame. Not overly acidic or too bright, more controlled and calm with a complexity of flavours and textures. Chewy blackcurrant, liquorice and stones. It’s a touch short and compact on the finish but this will elongate over ageing. Lots to like here. Balanced with an elegant touch. 4% Cabernet Franc completes the blend. Drink 2034-2050.

    $165. 00

    $1980.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Chateau Leoville Poyferre is part of the trio of properties formed when the large 200 hectare Leoville estate was divided in 1840. Seen as the most plush and exotic of the group, Leoville Poyferre has also been the most consistent since 2000. While much of the plantings are intermixed with those of Leoville Las Cases, the Grand Vin comes from a total of 60 hectares, and is planted to 68% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 2% Petit Verdot. The estate also produces a second wine, Pavillon de Leoville Poyferre, along with the previously unofficial second wine Moulin Riche which comes from a dedicated 21 hectare plot.

    Other Reviews...
The 2025 Léoville-Poyferré was picked from September 8 to 23 at just 20.3 hl/ha, undergoing a six-day cold pre-fermentation maceration and matured in 80% new oak. This is quintessential Poyferré on the nose, quite sensual and pure in style, with layers of ripe black fruit, black plum, a hint of camphor and violet. Wonderful delineation. The palate is framed by fine tannins, beautifully balanced, again quite minerally in style, with a precise and persistent graphite-tinged finish. If you love Poyferré, then you are going to adore this. Drink 2032-2060.

Beautiful on the nose. Stylish and concentrated, medium- to full-bodied, with freshness and a savory note in the finish. Cohesive and precise, with fine-grained, focused tannins. Very structured at the end. A solid and bracing Medoc.

Ripe, sexy amounts of red, black, and blue fruits, smoke, tobacco, and scorched earth all define the 2025 Château Léoville Poyferré, a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. It's full-bodied on the palate, with a round, layered, exuberant mouthfeel, plenty of velvety tannins, and ample mid-palate depth. It's a ripe, opulent, beautifully balanced 2025 in the making.

An extremely captivating Poyferré this year. Beautiful vivid and vibrant colour in the glass with soft rose and violets on the nose. Juicy and alive, immediately so charming, chewy, fleshy but cool and stony. Mouthfilling with licks of liquorice, tobacco, cola and hints of clove. I love the restraint on show – this is still a powerful wine but so much more relaxed than it could have been. Graceful yet impactful, full of ripe fruit with such a generous and happy attitude. I love it. Potential upscore in bottle. A yield of 20hl/ha, one of the smallest yields. Owner Sara spoke of lower fermentation temperatures, shorter macerations and shorter pumping-over to keep soft tannins. No deleafing, kept cover crops and used cold rooms to let grapes cool before optical sorting, especially for the more fragile Petit Verdot. Julien Viaud consultant. 5% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Drink 2034-2050.

Tobacco leaves, smoke, flowers, cherries, chocolate, licorice, currants, and espresso beans create the aromatic profile. The palate is even better with its lusciously-textured wealth of sweet, vibrant, and pure, red, with black fruits. There is freshness, vivacity, and creamy tannins which all go together creating a complete, and balanced wine. The finish meshes chocolate with currants, spice and herbs that start off strong, and keep on going. The wine blends 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 26% Merlot, 8% Cabernet Franc, and 5% Petit Verdot. 13.5% ABV, 3.71 pH. Yields were only 20 hectoliters per hectare. Harvesting took place September 8 - September 23. Along with 2022, this is the earliest harvest in the history of the estate. The wine is aging in 80% new, French oak barrels. Drink from 2030-2065.

Gabriel Boudier Creme de Cassis (700ml)
    Burgundy, FRANCE
    $59. 99
    Bottle
    $719.88 Dozen
    ABV: 20%

This high fruit content, all-natural Cassis gets its intense colour, aroma and taste from traditional Burgundy blackcurrants such as the Noir de Bourgogne variety. The bramble-like, semi-ripe opening aroma tells you this is done right; air contact bringing out the pulp and skin scent of the berries to very natural effect. There is the texture of jam that you'd expect in a fine creme, however the palate remains exquisitely tart, luscious, concentrated and mouth coating, all at the same time. From the first sniff, right through to the delectable aftertaste, this superb liqueur sets the bar for the rest of the Boudier range to follow. It's also one of the most versatile. From a long drink with dry white wine, Champagne or Beaujolais (1/5 Cassis and 4/5 wine); over ice cream: vanilla, tutti-frutti, topped with cassis; drizzled over Poire dijonaise with grilled almonds. The list is almost endless. 20% Alc./Vol.

As far back as the sixteenth century monks from the famous Dijon region of France are recorded to have been growing blackcurrant bushes. The drink they made from it was offered as a universal cure-all for everything from snake bite to depression. While this is clearly fallacious, it is common knowledge that black currants are rich in vitamin C and the liqueurs made from them are enjoyable and healthy digestifs. It is most commonly produced by macerating the berries in grape brandy. Today Dijon, the capital of Burgundy, remains famous for its black currant liqueurs. One of the towns greatest exponents of the style is Gabriel Boudier. Their demand for perfection is upheld by state of the art research, efficient partnerships with a selection of top local Dijon fruit suppliers and meticulous quality control. Their entire range of fruit liqueurs are sold on all five continents in over 60 countries and have made the Dijon district of Burgundy famous around the world.

"When Four Roses nails it, they really nail it – and the 2025 release nailed it." - bourbonculture.com

Launched in the USA in late 2025, Four Roses latest limited edition is a blend of 13 and 19 year old Bourbons marking the 18th in the annual series. It draws on a combination of three bourbon recipes and four different batches, bottled without chill filtration. “Year after year, we look to create a unique expression that highlights the best of what our ten recipes can offer,” said Brent Elliott, Four Roses Master Distiller. “When blending this year’s release, I was drawn to the 13-year-old V batches that showcase pronounced delicate fruit and sweet barrel tones. Although these barrels can really shine on their own, the OBSK brought in a complexity that I think people will really enjoy. The addition of the 19-year-old OBSV also adds another layer of depth and aged character that rounds out the blend beautifully.”

The final Bourbon lands at 54.5% ABV promising notes of sweet apricot, vanilla, caramel, hints of rye, and mellow oak on the nose, followed by flavours of apricot, hints of citrus, crème brûlée, and antique spiced oak on the palate, with those same flavours lingering in a very soft, lengthy finish. By all reports, it's right up there with the best releases from 2025 (and possibly even the last decade), some tasters describing it as a "fruit bomb", and a whiskey you simply want to sit and chill with. Approximately 16,800 bottles are available at select retailers globally. The detailed mash bill is as follows:

Four bourbons / three different recipes:

    -38% OBSV Recipe: 13 Years, 60% Corn, 35% Rye, 5% Malted Barley
    -35% OESV Recipe: 13 Years, 75% Corn, 20% Rye, 5% Malted Barley
    -17% OBSK Recipe: 13 Years, 60% Corn, 35% Rye, 5% Malted Barley

It’s not quite bourbon of the year, but it’s definitely in the discussion for Top 10. It almost makes the ever-increasing MSRP that they’ve given it seem worth it. Actually, I do think this is a great deal and would recommend buying it on sight. You should definitely pick this over the 2025 Old Forester Birthday Bourbon if given the choice. To Brent and his crew – good job! Keep making blends like this and you’ll have a happy fanbase. - thebourbonculture.com

...a delightful bourbon that showcases the depth and breadth of the aged bourbon that Four Roses has to blend with... Four Roses typically brings their A game when it comes to their limited releases, and their 2025 Limited Edition Small Batch is no exception. Even though the overall average age is lower relative to previous batches, much like their 2024 release, it’s full of flavor and well-balanced. While the finish skews less sweet than the rest of the sip and is slightly dry, the fantastic midpoint helps to balance it out. It’s no surprise to see that Four Roses raised the price compared to last year, but thankfully, the sip justifies the price and will delight those who get their hands on a bottle. - breakingbourbon.com

2025 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pre-Arrival Offer
    Pauillac, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $899. 00
    Bottle
    $10788.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Chateau Mouton Rothschild holds a unique place in the history of Bordeaux, being the only property to have its ranking changed since the introduction of the 1855 Classification. Originally listed as a Second Growth, through the tireless efforts of Baron Philippe Rothschild to make a wine he truly believed could match the best in the world, the property was upgraded to First Growth in June 1973. Known as the most flamboyant of the First Growth wines, Mouton Rothschild shows the rich and exotic side of Pauillac. Plantings on the 75 hectare property are a mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.

    Other Reviews...
A blend of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot, the 2025 Mouton Rothschild is a dense, powerful wine, unwinding in the glass with aromas of crème de cassis, blueberries, espresso roast, cigar wrapper and violet. Full-bodied, deep and dense, it's rich, layered and concentrated, with prodigious mid-palate presence and a long, youthfully structured finish. Small berries in Cabernet Sauvignon, below one gram even in the older vines, explain this Mouton's remarkable intensity of flavor. The grand vin represents 52% of the production and checks in at 13.1% alcohol.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Mouton Rothschild is dense and brooding. Although naturally very, very young, all the elements are so well put together. The 2025 is 98% Cabernet Sauvignon, the most Cabernet ever in the Grand Vin, and that very much comes through in the wine's structure and overall presence. Graphite, lavender, rose petal and menthol build into the rich, heady finish. There's a ton of potential here. Drink 2035-2075.

A glamorous wine for the vintage, with mesmerizing perfumes of flowers, al dente fruit and citrus flowers. Black currants with some mineral and stone undertones. Medium- to full-bodied with ultra-fine tannins and an endless finish. The tannins lead you on a great trip. It is the most cabernet sauvignon ever used in the blend in recent memory. Balanced and structured. 98% cabernet sauvignon and 2% merlot.

Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château Mouton Rothschild is based on 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot that's resting in 100% new barrels. A blockbuster nose of crème de cassis, smoky tobacco, chocolate, and graphite gives way to a rich, powerful, yet focused and precise Mouton on the palate, with the signature texture this estate is known for, flawless balance, ripe, silky tannins, integrated acidity, and a gorgeous finish. It hit 13.1% alcohol with a pH of 3.76. It's unquestionably a beautiful Mouton in the making, and this château continues to fire on all cylinders.

A fabulous Mouton with real personality and character and much more seductive than other wines from Pauillac this year. Dark fruit but cool, black cherries and berries with cola and mint touches. Juicy and upfront – immediately salivating in terms of fruit and acidity with gorgeous tannins, chalky, filling but soft not at all dry, fleshy but not too ripe. Intense, voluptuous, almost sensual and not at all austere despite the high percentage of Cabernet. One of the purest expression of what Cabernet can taste like on this site. Velvety, I just adore this for its frankness. Grippy, exciting, full of promise and energy. Wow. A potential 100-point wine. Drink 2035-2060.

Smoke, cigar box, flowers, Indian spices, cassis, blackberries, espresso, licorice, forest leaves and mint fill the aromatic profile. But here, it is the palate that owns the night with its opulent, flamboyant, luscious, and vibrant personality. Even with all those showy characteristics, concentration, and intensity, the wine manages to feel light on its feet. By the time you have emptied your glass, the wine somehow gained weight, and the tannins turned to velvet, which is perfect to allow you to enjoy the seemingly, never ending finish. The keys to the vintage came from the combination of summer draught, paired with the rains arriving in late August at the perfect moment, helping to aid in the maturity in the grapes, which shaped the vintage characteristics. The wine consists of 98% Cabernet Sauvignon and 2% Merlot, making this the highest percentage Cabernet Sauvignon ever used in the blend.13.1% ABV, 3.76 pH. 52% of the harvest was placed into the Grand Vin. The harvest took place September 5 - September 20. Drink from 2032-2075.

    2025 Chateau Haut-Bailly Pre-Arrival Offer
    Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $199. 00
    Bottle
    $2388.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Based in Pessac-Leognan on the Left Bank of Bordeaux, Chateau Haut-Bailly has 30 hectares under vine planted to 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot. As it is only recently that the wines have truly excelled, with knock out wines in 2005/2009/2010/2015/2016, they are one of the best values in Bordeaux.

    Other Reviews...
The 2025 Haut-Bailly was picked between September 4 and 22 at 26.6 hl/ha, raised in 50% new oak. Similar to elsewhere this year, I found a distinct difference between the Grand and Deuxième Vins, this possessing greater delineation and complexity. A mixture of brambly red fruit, briar, a touch of cassis and orange rind that is beautifully delineated. The palate is exquisite: very fine tannins, tangible minéralité, very cohesive and focused, with a very complex, peppery finish that goes on and on and on. Svelte, harmonious and tender, this ranks amongst the best vintages from Haut-Bailly in recent years. Drink 2032-2058.

The 2025 Haut-Bailly is fabulous. Here, too, the purity of the fruit is remarkable. Dried herbs, crushed flowers, blood orange, pomegranate, mint and star anise give the 2025 a gorgeous and palpable sense of exoticism. The 2025 impresses with its elegance and finesse. Floral and savory overtones linger on the clean, supremely polished finish. Very fine. Drink 2035-2065.

A beautiful fruit to this delicate and refined wine. The tannins are perfectly integrated into the wine and almost give it a pinot texture. The finest silk. It’s medium-bodied with precise and focused fruit and an endless finish. The exceptional harmony of this young wine makes you want to drink it. 55% cabernet sauvignon, 36% merlot, 5% cabernet franc and 4% petit verdot. 13.3% alcohol. pH 3.67.

Checking in as a blend of 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 36% Merlot, 5% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot, the 2025 Château Haut-Bailly is a sensational Haut-Bailly all about finesse and elegance. Ripe black cherries, currants, smoky tobacco, violets, spice, and flowers all define the bouquet, and on the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a pure, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and a very long, elegant finish. It's not a blockbuster, but it's exactly what this terroir yields with its complex, nuanced, layered, graceful style. You should buy this.

Lovely floral aromatics with an abundance of rose petals. Supple and so smooth, silky tannins and really vibrant red cherry fruit. Quite a brilliant and energetic style. Plump but juicy with acidity that gives a clear backbone and drive. I love the slightly fuller expression, it’s not lacking in depth or attitude and fills the mouth with a fleshy grip yet still lifted, bright and so cool. Impressive. Haut Bailly has been one of the more delicate wines in recent vintages and this is a little more upfront, lively and characterful and I love it for that – while still keeping elegance and refinement. Ripe, punchy, bright, forward. A great success. 4% Petit Verdot completes the blend. Drink 2035-2055.

2025 Chateau Brane Cantenac Pre-Arrival Offer
    Margaux, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $125. 00
    Bottle
    $1500.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Rare in the landscape of Bordeaux, the heart of the Second Growth Chateau Brane Cantenac vineyard has remained relatively unchanged since the 1855 classification with the 45 hectares surrounding the Chateau still used for the Grand Vin. The balance of the 75 hectare estate makes it into the second wine, Baron de Brane. Vineyards are planted to 55% Cabernet Sauvignon, 40% Merlot, 4.5% Cabernet Franc, and 0.5% Carmenere.

    Other Reviews...
A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 1% Cabernet Franc and 1% Carmenère (the latter harvested by the winery team after everything else has been picked), the 2025 Brane-Cantenac offers up a rich bouquet of crème de cassis, plums and spices, framed by a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, layered and lively, with powdery tannins that contribute youthful grip on the finish, it checks in at a very classical 13.3% alcohol and pH of 3.62.
    93-96 points
William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Brane-Cantenac was picked from September 2 to 29, finishing with that 1% of late-ripening Carménère, cropped at 32.2 hl/ha. It has impressive purity on the nose, an aspect of the Grand Vin that Henri Lurton and his team have improved immensely over the last decade. Black cherries, bilberry, violet and crushed stone unfold in the glass, classical in style, which is Brane-Cantenac's signature. The palate is medium-bodied with supple, finely sculpted tannins allied with disarming sapidity and brightness. Not powerful like the 2022, yet pixelated with a mineral, tensile, complex finish. Another feather in the cap for Lurton and, moreover, this is often one of the best values on release. Drink 2032-2060.
    95-97 points
    Neal Martin - Vinous

The 2025 Brane-Cantenac is incredibly polished right out of the gate. Floral overtones lead into a core of blue/purplish fruit, spice, new leather, tobacco, lavender and a kiss of French oak. Silky tannins lend shape and finesse. The aromatics alone are so compelling, but everything about the 2025 speaks to balance. It’s a magnificent effort from proprietor Henri Lurton and his team. One of the highlights of the vintage. Drink 2035-2065.

Cassis, graphite, liquid violets, and tobacco all define the 2025 Château Brane-Cantenac, a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 1% each Cabernet Franc, Carménère, and Petit Verdot that's being raised in 100% new French oak. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with a focused, elegant mouthfeel, beautiful concentration and depth, integrated acidity, and a great finish. Hitting 13.5% alcohol, it's a brilliant success in the vintage and should be snatched up by readers.

Ripe and juicy blackcurrant aromas, really pure and expressive, fruit forward with iris notes as well. Juicy and friendly with such a lifted, bright and energetic core but grippy too, really wide and filling with the structure and concentration matching the acidity step for step. Firm and streamlined, but there’s purity and I do love the slightly more muscular aspect to this. Maybe less charming than previous vintages but more sophisticated. Clarity is exceptional. Lovely and long. 1% Carménère completes the blend. 3.62pH. 12.1% press wine. Drink 2034-2048.

Black cherries, currants, roses, violets, spice, and forest floor create the aromatics. On the palate, the elegance and purity of the fruit are instantly recognizable. The lift and vibrancy, paired with concentration and sensuality, set this apart. The finish starts strong and continues seamlessly. 2025 marks the Lurton family's 100th anniversary of owning the vineyard. You can expect to see a special label celebrating the occasion. The 2025 is in competition with the 2022 as the best vintage ever produced at the estate. The wine blends 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, 1% Carmenere, and 1% Cabernet Franc. 13.3% ABV, 3.62 pH. Michel Couvreur Upper Cap Blended French Whisky (700ml)
    Burgundy, FRANCE
    $280. 00
    Bottle
    $3360.00 Dozen
    ABV: 47%

Part of Michel Couvreur’s Les Raretés collection. This cuvée represents an enhanced version of Cap a Pie. Composed primarily of Scottish grain whisky distilled in 2007 and aged in old Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, the blend is elevated by approximately 30% lightly peated malt distilled in 2010. Aged in Couvreur's Burgundy cellars for fifteen years and bottled in February 2026 at 47% ABV after minimal reduction and zero filtration, this whisky promises a level of concentration, richness, and persistence not normally associated with the blended category. 900 bottles were produced.

2010 Michel Couvreur Alekse Single Cask Colheita Port Single Malt French Whisky (500ml)
    Burgundy, FRANCE
    $480. 00
    Bottle
    $5760.00 Dozen
    ABV: 50%

Considered a high point in the company's maturation know-how, this is the latest in a series of premium curations falling under the 'Alekse' label. For this edition, Scottish malt was matured in a single Colheita Port cask stored in Couvreuer's damp underground cellars for a full 15 years. Sourced from a single Portuguese harvest, the rare 'pipas' (550-liter barrels) have imparted distinctive oxidative notes and a superb fruity richness. For maximum effect the whisky was bottled with no reduction, the final ABV arrived at via slow evaporation. A work of craftsmanship from the inside out, the hand-waxed 500ml bottle comes nestled in a wooden case, confirming the status of this genuine limited edition. 1200 bottles were decanted at a natural strength of 50% Alc./Vol.

Michel Couvreur passed away in 2013; his son-in-law Cyril Deschamps and his cellar master Jean-Arnaud Frantzen, with the invaluable help of Michel’s devoted wife Marthe and his daughter Alexandra, follow to the letter the philosophy and the motto of the house: Virtute et Opera.

Other reviews... Good things come in threes, and sometimes that actually holds up. After the 2003 (Amontillado) and 2008 (Oloroso), the 2010 Aleksé is up next. This time: Port instead of Sherry. Once again approved by Alexandra Couvreur, carrying a clear house style. Distilled in Scotland in 2010, aged in Colheita Port pipes in Couvreur’s cold, damp Burgundy cellars, and bottled at cask strength (50% ABV). Colheita Port Pipes are rare in whisky, single vintage, minimum 7 years of oxidative aging for the tawny port. Promising on paper. On the nose, it’s immediately Port-forward: dark, ripe berries, dates, blackberry, alongside roasted nuts and cocoa. With time, honey, vanilla, and a hint of clove come through. On the palate, full and rounded, yet still powerful. Surprisingly accessible for 50% ABV, minimal heat, plenty of structure. Honey and caramel lead into dark chocolate, orange zest, gentle spice, and a touch of tobacco. Balanced, elegant, and very cohesive. The finish is long and spicy, with dry cocoa, dried fruit, and a subtle oak bitterness. Sweetness lingers, but spice takes the lead. A very solid 90 (89) points in my little book. If pricing in the German market were a bit less ambitious, I might actually have rated it even higher. - whiskybase.com

Michel Couvreur Hexanobile Blended Malt French Whisky (700ml)
    Burgundy, FRANCE
    $199. 99
    Bottle
    $2399.88 Dozen
    ABV: 46%

The House of Michel Couvreur is best known for shipping Scottish distillates to Burgundy, filling them into highly active sherry casks and ageing them in their humid underground caves. Here we have a departure from that practise and something of a landmark release for the company: Hexanobile represents their very first 100% French cuvée, combining approximately ten barrels from three different French distilleries with malts aged from 8 to 12 years. Maturation in sherry casks (fino, Pedro Ximénez, amontillado, oloroso) has bestowed aromatic complexity, vibrancy and depth to the whisky, including notes of chocolate, vanilla, almond, and ripe fruits. Bottled at 46% without filtration.

Other reviews... Mouth: The sweetness of the spices, velvety and creamy at the same time; the coffee, burnt caramel, crushed walnut and lichen arrive all at once on the nuts bringing bitterness and oxidation; subtle toasted/burnt finish. Final: Quite long, with notes of roasted coffee. The reduced alcohol amplifies the creamy and candied character, with cooking spices sprinkling over the dried fruit and raisins. - whiskybase.com

    2025 Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion Pre-Arrival Offer
    Pessac Leognan, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $450. 00
    Bottle
    $5400.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Located across the road from sister property Chateau Haut-Brion, the 26 hectare vineyard of Chateau La Mission Haut-Brion is not only equally as accomplished today, it often bests the First Growth wine. In fact if the classification of Bordeaux happened again today you would expect La Mission to be included as a First Growth, such is the quality and consistency of the wines.

The deep gravel and clay vineyard is planted to 48% Cabernet Sauvignon, 45% Merlot, and 7% Cabernet Franc for the red wine, and 62% Semillon, 38% Sauvignon Blanc for the white. Often seen as a more robust and structured wine than Haut-Brion, La Mission is no less concentrated and complex, and can be extremely long lived.

    Other Reviews...
A blend of 58.3% Merlot, 38.3% Cabernet Sauvignon and 3.4% Cabernet Franc, the 2025 La Mission Haut-Brion reveals a refined bouquet of smoky cassis, dark berries, spices and lead pencil, framed by a deft touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered, it’s built around a multidimensional core of fruit underpinned by fine, velvety tannins, concluding with a long, perfumed and precise finish. Combining depth with energy, it delivers a textural yet controlled expression of power, with a real sense of freshness. The result is a particularly faithful, charming rendition of La Mission, defined by its elegance and overall precision.

The 2025 La Mission Haut-Brion is one of my early favorites in this vintage. Aromatic and vibrant, with striking purity, the Grand Vin is magnificent. Red-toned fruit, blood orange, pomegranate, mint and cinnamon soar from the glass. Beams of supporting tannin lend energy and shape. In a word: compelling. One of the wines of the vintage. A Merlot-heavy blend of 58.3% Merlot, 38.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the rest Cabernet Franc that's being raised in 60% new French oak, the 2025 Château La Mission Haut-Brion sports a dense ruby/purple hue as well as juicy black raspberries, currants, smoky tobacco, freshly sharpened pencils, and liquid violet nuances on the nose. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, concentrated, layered mouthfeel, focusing tannins, and beautiful overall balance and length. It's a slightly more inward, focused expression of this cuvée, but that's the vintage, and this has tons to love. I suspect the cellar will be your friend.

Gorgeous floral fragrance on the nose, perfumed with blackcurrants and black cherries, delicate but with real purity. Supple, round and generous, filling the mouth – chewy and grippy yet with fleshy and ripe red fruit, nothing drying, underpinned by liquorice and salty stones giving a chalky grip on the finish. Structured and intensely concentrated with energy, focus, depth and layering of texture. Full of mass, vibrancy and character. Not pristinely perfect but fun, plump and hedonistic. Drink 2034-2048.

Burning campfire embers, smoke, flowers, black cherries, blackberries, and licorice are on display in the aromatics. Texturally, you find a creamy-freshness that hits all the right notes. Concentrated, long, deep, and voluptuous, the wine is almost palate staining in its delivery, coating your palate, yet, somehow it remains energetic, and vibrant. Packed with ripe, powerful fruits, the finish builds as it lingers, and expands seamlessly on your palate. For La Mission Haut Brion, this should start drinking well with just 5-7 years of age, yet, it promises to age for decades. The wine blends 58.3% Merlot, 38.3% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 3.4% Cabernet Franc, 13.6% ABV, 3.73 pH. Harvesting took place, September 1-September 18. Yields were low at 23 hectoliters per hectare. 2025 Chateau Pavie Pre-Arrival Offer
    Saint Emilion, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $485. 00
    Bottle
    $5820.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Chateau Pavie is the largest and most technically advanced of the Grand Cru Classe A properties in Saint-Emilion, but also the most polarising. From the flashy new Chateau and guest reception area, to the opulent, rich and saturated wines, Chateau Pavie continues to divide opinion. What is clear though is since Gerard Perse bought the property in 1998 his efforts to replant the vineyard and renew the winemaking facilities (twice!) have resulted in some of the best wines in their history.

Today the 42 hectare vineyard is one contiguous block, a rarity in Bordeaux, and is planted to 60% Merlot, 25% Cabernet Franc, and 15% Cabernet Sauvignon. Soil profiles vary across this large area, but the best plots are behind the Chateau on deep, rich limestone and clay.

    Other Reviews...
The 2025 Pavie is a total stunner. What a wine. Rich and dazzling in its intensity, the 2025 hits all the right notes. Inky dark red/purplish fruit, exotic spice, mocha, espresso and pomegranate literally stain the palate. The 2025 is going to require the better part of a decade to unwind, but it has a ton of potential and a very bright future. This is the first time Cabernet Franc is the dominant variety in the Grand Vin. The 2025 has plenty of the textural intensity readers have come to expect, but with less of the heavy extraction that marked the earlier years. Drink 2033-2065.

The cabernet franc really comes through, with fine, intense, racy tannins and great length. Chalky and focused. More restrained than past vintages, with superb tension at the end. The most cabernet franc-driven Pavie ever. And it works so well. Precise is the word.
    98-99 points
    James Suckling

The first time this château has included this much Cabernet Franc in the blend, the 2025 Château Pavie sports a saturated purple hue as well as a pure, focused bouquet of crème de cassis and assorted blue fruits intermixed with graphite, violets, leafy herbs, and freshly sharpened pencil notes. It's a different beast from the classic Pavie style, with a more focused, straight mouthfeel, building yet beautiful tannins, and a layered, seamless texture on the palate. It might miss a touch of the classic Pavie sexiness, but it's incredibly impressive, balanced, and remarkably long. Hitting 14.34% alcohol with a pH of 3.58, this Saint-Émilion was harvested between September 15th and 26th.

Intensely fragrant nose, full of black fruit, chocolate, perfumed violets and cassis. Heady and concentrated. Ripe and fleshy fruit on the palate, the tannins have a really chewy aspect that fills the mouth with texture and grip but with a vein of cooling acidity through the middle. Ends soft and cool, with a long minty, liquorice core. Chewy, fleshy, but cool, I quite like the upfront nature, it’s filling and wide but not overly intrusive or dry. Cool blue fruits and a long slightly chalky powdery finish. All the makings of a great Pavie and feels hands off for what It could have been. 3.58pH. A yield of 21hl/ha. Drink 2032-2050.

Showing one of the deepest colors of the vintage, the perfume kicks off with black raspberries, mint leaves, black cherries, flowers, tobacco wrappers, licorice, spice, and espresso aromas. The palate is intensely concentrated, yet, there is so much lift, and energy, the wine feels almost relaxed on your palate. The waves of rich, dense, opulent, lush, and salty, mineral-infused berries start off strong, and keep on going. The mid-palate, and finish delivers its message of ripe, deep, black, with red fruits, spice, crushed stones, camphor, licorice, and dark chocolate without hesitation through to its endnotes that get close to the 60-second mark. The wine blends 60% Cabernet Franc, 30% Merlot, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon, making this the highest percentage of Cabernet ever used in the blend. 14.3% ABV. 3.58 pH. Harvesting took place September 15 - September 26. Yields were 21 hectoliters per hectare. Drink from 2030-2065.

The 2025 Lagrange shows excellent potential, offering up notes of cassis, dark berries and violets, framed by a subtle touch of new oak. Medium- to full-bodied, deep and dense, with a concentrated core of fruit, sweet tannins and a long, penetrating finish, it's a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot and 5% Petit Verdot, checking in at 13.6% alcohol. Representing half the estate's production, its mid-palate depth and amplitude reflect the decision to harvest the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon late, between September 21 and October 10.

The 2025 Lagrange was cropped at an average of 30 hl/ha, lower for the Cabernet, with 13.56% alcohol. It was picked from September 8 until September 24 and matured in 60% new oak barrels. This has a sublime bouquet that actually reminds me of the 2020, beautifully defined with blackcurrant, iodine and touches of violet petals. The oak is very well integrated. The palate is medium-bodied with granular tannins, fine acidity, gentle but insistent grip. Quite compact towards the finish, this has a linearity that I really admire, imparting a sense of classicism and "coolness". This is an excellent Lagrange from Mathieu Bordes and his team. Drink 2030-2060.

Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château Lagrange offers up ripe blue and black fruits, spicy wood, smoky tobacco, violets, and graphite on the nose. Based on 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Merlot, and 5% Petit Verdot that will spend 21 months in 50% new French oak, it checks in at 13.5% alcohol with a pH of 3.5. On the palate, it's rich and medium to full-bodied, with a pure, layered, graceful mouthfeel, velvety and integrated tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's another brilliant wine from this château, which has been making absolutely world-class wines for some time now without the recognition they deserve.

Beautiful vibrant colour in the glass, bright pink. Fragranced blue fruit and floral aromas on the nose. Soft and supple, a nice vibrancy and energy straight away with such juicy acidity – blueberry and cranberry - with salty, crushed stone-edged tannins that give a dense grip and linger on the finish. Good balance of power and energy with sleekness and finesse. Freshness is there as is layering of elements. Powdery milk chocolate and flint on the finish. 3.52pH. Ageing 21 months, 60% new oak, 40% one year old. Drink 2034-2049.

2025 Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande Pre-Arrival Offer
    Pauillac, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $299. 00

    $3588.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Chateau Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is the sister property to Chateau Pichon-Longueville Baron, formed upon the death of Baron Joseph de Pichon Longueville in 1850. The parcel of vines we now know as Pichon Lalande were passed to the Baron’s three daughters, and today is one of the most elegant wines in the Haut Medoc. This elegance should not be confused with being underweight, as the wines have enormous richness and intensity, and age extremely well. Plantings on the large property include a blend of 61% Cabernet Sauvignon, 32% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

    Other Reviews...
The 2025 Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is showing well, opening in the glass with notes of cassis, blackberries, cigar wrapper and iris, becoming more fragrant with aeration. Medium- to full-bodied, deep and layered, with plenty of powdery tannin that asserts itself on the youthfully structured finish, it's a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot and 4% Cabernet Franc.

The 2025 Pichon-Longueville Comtesse de Lalande is a total stunner. A wine of depth and intensity, it soars out of the glass with layers of nuance and complexity. Pure cassis, leafy herbs, spring flowers, and graphite all emerge from the 2025 Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse De Lalande, a blend of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. It's medium to full-bodied on the palate, has a flawlessly balanced mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and an incredible finish. The balance, length, complexity, and pure class here are exceptional. It hit 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.7 and an IPT of 73. Hats off to director Nicolas Glumineau for another absolutely sensational Comtesse!

What a stunning Pichon Comtesse. A salty element on the nose, fragrant blackcurrant. Ripe and softly fleshy, this fills the mouth straight away with the most gorgeous juicy, rich and also cool tannins that are so comforting. Accomplished winemaking where every element adds to the overall impression. Long, muscular but sinewy too. Just a simply gorgeous wine. Almost lightly framed, saline-edged tannins, a grip to the liquorice, cola, mint and crushed stones. Pauillac through and through but with energy, focus and clear detail. Ageing will surely elongate the expression and give depth. A yield of 24hl/ha. Drink 2035-2049.

The intense floral bouquet kicks off the nose before getting to all of its cigar wrappers, blackberries, cocoa, cassis, chocolate, black cherries, and gentle spices in the aromas. As good as that is, the palate steals the show with its opulent, showy display of sweet, silky, perfectly ripe berries, with touches of cocoa, and sea salt. The intense finish is long, velvety, and vibrant. In short, everything is exactly where it should be. Due to its creamy nature, the wine can be enjoyed young. But it can age for 30-40 years easily. With 2025, the top three things to keep track of was staying focused and ready to pick once the grapes achieved their ideal ripeness was imperative. Picking the Merlot al dente was another key factor. Lastly, being patient for the Cabernet Sauvignon to achieve full, phenolic ripeness sealed the deal. In the cellars, less pump overs early in the fermentation, followed by an infusion of the berries was another key point. The wine blends 81% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Merlot, and 4% Cabernet Franc. 13% ABV. 3.7 pH. The harvest took place August 28 - September 24. This is the earliest start to a harvest in the history of Pichon Lalande. Yields were a paltry 24 hectoliters per hectare. Only 55% of the harvest went into the Grand Vin. The wine is aging in 65% new, French oak barrels. Drink from 2032-2070.

This delicious, vibrant Pinot Noir is produced from four different clones planted in vineyards located at Gumeracha, Forreston, Lobethal and Balhannah in the Adelaide Hills. 2025 was a warm, sunny vintage that produced excellent quality fruit of good concentration, tannin and particularly colour. Comes together with signature Adelaide Hills fleshy fruit presence and style. Bright cherry red hues. Cherry is definitely the theme here with scents of dusty red cherry, cranberry, pepper, crushed herbs, fennel seed and hints of rose florals. There’s a real brightness and energy to the youngster with oak in balance. Cherry fruits, raspberry and cranberry shine on the palate while red liquorice, dried herbs and peppery spice mingle in the background. Delivers plenty of upfront juiciness with an easy textural flow on a bed of brisk tannins. Drink 2025-2032.

From a warm, dry and early vintage, this new release sits more in a savoury pocket than straight out fruit bomb territory, exhibiting kitchen garden aromas, thyme especially, through to native foliage, saltbush, and more exotic Boronia, delicate and seductive, tempered a touch with subtly charry oak. All this settles comfortably into the palate that has a thread of black cherry flavour, echoing aromas, and a neatly fitting, soft velcro tannin grip to finish. Still quite tight in its youth and will unfold with further personality over the next year or two when its crazy value will increasingly reward.

Elegant and similarly restrained on the palate, showing delicate notes of white chocolate, cream, and watermelon rind, all underscored by a soft, lactic texture. Pale water-white with the barest hint of a champagne blush. While initially reserved, the nose opens up to reveal fresh green melon and grapefruit leading into koji-derived cream and nougat, leaning beautifully toward primary fruit over heavy rice-ferment characters. The palate mirrors the aromas, with crisp citrus and green fruit taking center stage ahead of subtle rice and nougat notes. Saliva-inducing acidity drives a highly refreshing, clean, and vibrant style that warrants another sip. An accessible, elegant sake that pairs effortlessly with lighter fish dishes or crispy vegetable tempura. Serve chilled.

The inherent sweetness adds excellent weight, yet crisp, balancing acidity ensures it never drinks truly sweet. Stepping away from traditional fermented rice characters, this is a compelling and highly versatile drink. Bright lemon-gold in the glass, signaling a bold and powerful style. A wonderfully wild and engaging nose, loaded with intense notes of smoked meats, beef jerky, and bacon fat, softened by a hint of glazed pear in the background. More rugged on the palate however, leaning into stark elements of charcoal and camphor rather than the savory smoked meats promised by the nose. It finishes with a touch of coarseness and rustic bitterness, making it an eccentric, boundary-pushing curiosity. Despite its unusual profile, it would make for a highly original pairing alongside sticky BBQ ribs.

Chateau Giscours in Margaux has been making wine in the region as far back at the 1300’s, but it’s only recently that they’ve earned a reputation for outstanding wines. Extensive replanting of the vineyards and a change in composition to include more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend has resulted in wines truly reflective of the appellation. Another technology pioneer in the region, Chateau Giscours was one of the first to use gravity to move wine in the cellars. While this practice is common now, it was unique in the 1800’s. They were also one of the first to use optical sorting of the grapes, another common tool used more widely today.

The 2025 Giscours is another brilliant wine from this resurgent property, unwinding in the glass with aromas of wild berries, violets, rose petals and pencil shavings. Medium- to full-bodied, deep and perfumed, it's suave and seamless, with ultra-refined tannins, vibrant acids and a long, perfumed finish. This classy and precise blend of 64% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc was produced in Giscour's functional temporary winery, which makes temperature control easier than in the estate's old facilities.

A fabulous Giscours this year really showcasing the effort and work that's been going on at this estate. Deep and dark nose with blackcurrant leaf, dark chocolate, violets, purple flowers, a medicinal herbal element, mint and cinnamon - but so delicate and precise. Really refined aromatics. So sleek and silky with perfectly balanced tannins that give support but don't overwhelm. Amazing depth and layering here, so well balanced and executed with plenty of concentration but dark and brooding, not heavy or sunny – cool and calm but focused and determined too. Extremely Margaux without any extremes. This really represents the personality of the vintage with Bordeaux energy, tension, focus, juiciness, freshness, ripe and structured ripeness carried by acidity. 3.68pH. A yield of 30hl/ha. Drink 2032-2049.

Vibrant, and silky in the mouth, the wine delivers its multiple layers of sweet, lifted, black cherries, dark cocoa, refreshing mint, spice, and strawberries. There is elegance, and length, with a fruit-filled, refined, energetic finish. Give it a year or two in the bottle, and the wine will be even better. The wine is a blend of 60% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 6% Cabernet Franc, 4% Petit Verdot. 13% ABV, pH 3.71. Harvesting took place September 18 - October 11. Drink from 2030-2060.

Broad and creamy, the 2025 Siran is a powerful, dense Margaux. There's not much subtlety here, but then again, that does not seem to be the point. Inky red/purplish fruit, lavender, mint, rose petal and mocha are all beautifully amplified. It will be interesting to see if more complexity develops over time. Drink 2033-2045.

A fruit-driven, juicy and mellow red with red berry and chocolate aromas. Medium-bodied with chewy tannins. Dense core of fruit and a flavorful finish.

Deep purple-hued, the 2025 Château Siran has a beautiful bouquet of spicy red and black fruits, smoky tobacco, and sappy flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with present yet nicely integrated oak, good concentration, and ripe tannins. It's another beautiful Margaux that brings the richness and ripeness of the appellation while staying balanced and elegant.

Supple and so smooth, really controlled, creamy and juicy with a tangy bite to the cranberry acidity giving a complex and complete expression. Plump, chewy with lots of energy and focus and a long, mineral-liquorice edged finish. Great stuff. It’s definitely on the cool side, there’s no overt opulence or hedonism but there’s sure refinement and enjoyment to be had. Drink 2029-2039.

    Pauillac, Bordeaux, FRANCE

A truly classic, age worthy style of wine from Pauillac, Chateau Grand-Puy-Lacoste is one of those Fifth Growth wines that shine in great years, rivalling the very best from the region. This is most recently seen in the pairs of 2009/2010 and 2015/2016. Currently plantings on the 55 hectare estate are 75% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet Franc.

    Other Reviews...
The 2025 Grand-Puy-Lacoste reveals a classic, refined bouquet of cassis, dark berries, cedar and lead pencil, with discreet floral nuances. Medium- to full-bodied, structured and precise, it’s built around a well-defined core of fruit framed by finely grained, youthful, filigreed tannins with a tensile profile. Less demonstrative than some of its peers in Pauillac, it privileges balance and typicity over sheer power, concluding with a long, elegant and mineral finish. Produced from a blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot, this is the first vintage vinified in the estate’s new gravity-fed cellar, enabling more precise parcel selection—an evolution that appears to reinforce the wine’s precision and coherence.

Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Grand-Puy-Lacoste is the first to be made in the new gravity-fed winery. It was picked between September 4 and 18 at 30 hl/ha, much lower than normal, with a high percentage of Cabernet Sauvignon (76%). Matured in 65% new oak, it has a perfumed bouquet with blackberry and raspberry fruit, touches of graphite emerging with aeration, beautifully defined. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins. Definitely one of the most refined GPLs that I have tasted at this stage, very harmonious, complex and engaging. Superb persistence on the finish, this is a complete Pauillac that is going to give immense pleasure. Drink 2032-2060.

Excellent GPL, medium- to full-bodied with a great expression of dark fruit that is evenly distributed. It’s fresh and precise with grainy, integrated tannins that should only integrate more. A blend of 76% cabernet sauvignon and 24% merlot.

    Jacobo García Andrade - JamesSuckling.com

A Cabernet-dominant blend of 76% Cabernet Sauvignon and 24% Merlot from yields of 30 hectoliters per hectare, the 2025 Château Grand Puy Lacoste is gorgeous, with ultra-classic Pauillac aromatics of red and black fruits, lead pencil, graphite, and crushed stone. Medium-bodied on the palate, it has a concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's up there with the top vintages of this cuvée, and it doesn't get more Pauillac than this.
    94-96 points
    Jeb Dunnuck

Deep violets and heady blackcurrants on the nose, fresh though, inviting and crystalline – aromatically expressive. Supple and sapid with a real hands-off feeling. Approachable with a clean, clear grip to the fine tannins, mint, cool blueberries, graphite and wet stones. The terroir really shines in the glass. Feels very modern with mouthwatering acidity setting the tone – bright, lively and upfront. Delicious, crunchy and leaves a lasting impression with grip, tension, energy and focus. Maybe a little less dense than usual but more refined. 13%. A yield of 30hl/ha. Drink 2033-2050.

The 2025 Meyney was picked from 9 to 20 September at 43 hl/ha and matured in French oak for a planned 18 months. It has a bright nose with blackberry and bilberry fruit, cedar and light cigar box scents in the background, all delivered with commendable delineation. The palate is well balanced with supple tannins, but there is plenty of structure here, very well judged acidity, well-integrated oak with a judicious dash of pepperiness and a floral aspect to the finish. The 14% Petit Verdot just lends a little more malleability to the texture and it should be absolutely delicious once in bottle. If this is released at a good price en primeur, as it has been in the past, then this could represent an astute buy. Drink 2031-2050.

A serious, concentrated Saint-Estèphe, the 2025 Château Meyney reveals darker berries, graphite, chocolate, and hints of tobacco on the nose. It's rich and medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a nicely concentrated, layered mouthfeel, ripe tannins, and a great finish. It's clearly an outstanding wine.

Deep dark fruit notes on the nose, blackcurrants and cherries with wild flowers – excellent clarity and focus of aromas. Supple and soft, velvety with a lovely bounce to the expression – there’s layers of fruit and a salty, cola and liquorice, wet stone grip but all balanced and harmonious. Still a little tight and focused as to be expected but there’s real finesse here. You can see the gentle extractions. Chewy, friendly, fun, but still with fragrant and softly spiced fruit. Lots going on. 3.75pH. Drink 2028-2043.

The 2025 Grand Puy Ducasse has a very succinct nose. At first, it feels maybe a bit underpowered, yet with a few swirls it reveals gorgeous blackberry, cedar and violet scents that blossom over time. The palate is medium-bodied with very lithe and supple tannins, well-judged acidity and commendable cohesion on the finish. This vastly improved Pauillac should be more approachable than some of its peers, yet it has the substance to age in bottle. Drink 2031-2055.

The 2025 Grand Puy Ducasse is a gorgeous, racy wine. Silky red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal build in the glass. More than anything else, the wine's balance is terrific. Medium- to full-bodied with precise, delineated fruit. There is a savory touch and a firm finish, with overall balance between structure and fruit. Finesse through but plenty behind. A blend of 66% cabernet sauvignon, 31% merlot and 3% petit verdot.

Cassis, graphite, spicy wood, and floral nuances all define the 2025 Château Grand-Puy Ducasse, a beautiful effort ranking with the best wines from this château. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a pure, graceful mouthfeel, ultra-fine tannins, and wonderful overall balance. It's a beautifully classic, satisfying Pauillac in the making. Tasted twice with consistent notes.

Lovely fragrance and intensity of aromatics, blackcurrants and cherries with some dried herbal notes. Supple and grippy, chalky and filling but with such delicacy that it’s not at all overwhelming. Young but not really tight or too focused, it settles after a few minutes opening up the ripe black fruit. Mouthwatering acidity perfectly balances the tannins and structure without one part being over the top. I like the restrained style but there’s still an undercurrent of blueberries, cola, mint, liquorice and graphite. Assured and confident. Spiced. Drink 2030-2050.

The 2025 Nenin has turned out nicely, offering up notes of cassis, dark berries and mint, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, dense and layered palate that's muscular and structured, with plenty of sweet tannin. The team hedged the canopies lower than usual this year to reduce evapotranspiration and used densimetric sorting to remove overripe berries. It's a blend of 42% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon.
    91-93 points
William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Nenin is packed with dark blue/purplish fruit, lavender, mocha, cloves, new leather, and incense. Rich and voluptuous in the glass, the 2025 is all charm. This is a pretty extroverted vintage for Nenin, but all the elements are nicely balanced. Soft contours frame the long, juicy finish. Drink 2030-2045.

A solid red with lots of berry and milk chocolate character and chewy tannins, but it’s still in balance, with a caressing texture and a flavorful finish. Some terracotta at the end. Bright and focused 52% merlot, 32% cabernet franc 6% cabernet sauvignon,.

Ripe black cherries, chocolate, scorched earth, melted crayons, tobacco, and camphor all emerge from the 2025 Château Nénin, a classic Pomerol in the making with a blend that's heavily slanted toward Cabernet this year. Based on 62% Merlot, 32% Cabernet Franc, and 6% Cabernet Sauvignon that's being raised in 40% new barrels, the goal here is ultimately a 50/50 split between Merlot and Cabernet (both Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon). Checking in at 13.4% alcohol with a pH of 3.6, it's medium to full-bodied on the palate, with a round, lush, expansive mouthfeel, ample mid-palate volume, wonderful balance, and a great finish. The quality at Nenin continues to impress.

Cabernet aromas coming through on the nose with blackcurrant, cedar and chocolate. Smooth and velvety with a lovely supple expression that shows texture but also bounce thanks to the fruit and acidity. Great structure, lovely energy and focus here – nothing overdone. A light, crisp and crunchy style yet so delicate with a real focus on clarity. Feels really well constructed with an overall cool and fresh aspect. Lovely. I really like it. The Cabernet speaks strongly in the blend – great stuff, although blind it would be hard to place this immediately in Pomerol. Drink 2033-2047.

This estate is always reliable, but I was taken aback by just how good the 2025 Potensac is. A blend of 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, 22% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot, from vines averaging over 60 years of age, it offers up aromas of dark berries, crème de cassis and iris, followed by a medium- to full-bodied, layered and concentrated palate with excellent density, high-quality tannins and a long, perfumed finish. The 2025 may well be the best wine ever produced at this estate.

William Kelley - Robert Parker's Wine Advocate

The 2025 Potensac was cropped at 28 hl/ha between September 12 and 22. Matured in 20% new oak barrels, this has quite a flamboyant bouquet with layers of black cherry, blueberry and violet, almost Margaux-like in style, with a touch of pencil shavings underneath. The palate is medium-bodied with edgy tannins on the entry, quite powerful, a little sapid, good density and a muscular finish that should be tempered during its élevage plus bottle age. Long-term Potensac. Drink 2030-2050.

A Merlot-forward blend of 41% Merlot, 37% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 22% Cabernet Franc that's being raised 12 months in 20% new barrels, the 2025 Château Potensac comes from a château that does well in ripe vintages, and this is no exception. Its deep purple hue is followed by a great nose of ripe cherries, currants, sappy tobacco, and graphite. On the palate, it's medium-bodied, with a pure, focused, nicely balanced mouthfeel, good acidity (the pH is 3.57), and ripe, polished tannins. Readers should buy a case or more of this for drinking over the coming 30 years.

Slightly dusty and woody on the nose at the moment, with good juiciness on the palate, notes of slate and dark forest berries, supported by bold and coarse tannins. Overall, the wine looks slightly austere and firm at this stage. It will improve with age, but you need to be patient. Drink 2028-2038.
