Nagano Meijo Junmai Ginjo Kisekirei Sake (720ml)
Kisekirei aims to be Nagano Meiji's sake alternative to Riesling or Sauvignon Blanc. Made with white koji and 100% Yamada Nishiki rice polished to 55%.
Pale with a faint champagne glimmer. An unconventional yet highly intriguing nose offers distinct aromas of lemon verbena, lemongrass, and white sugar, accented by a pinch of white pepper. Equally unique on the palate, it evokes thoughts of white chocolate chip cookie dough alongside lemongrass, green melon, and sweet sugar notes. The inherent sweetness adds excellent weight, yet crisp, balancing acidity ensures it never drinks truly sweet. Stepping away from traditional fermented rice characters, this is a compelling and highly versatile drink. Bold enough to handle rich dishes like unagi (eel), its weight ensures it will hold up brilliantly across a range of cuisines, right down to a post-dinner fruit or cheese platter.
