    ABV: 37.3%

If you're looking for a decent mid-priced ouzo, try this. Employing ingredients such as anise and mastic and bottled in Australia, Akropolis suits the busy bar but retains a level of quality that makes it pleasant enough to consume straight. 37.3% alc/vol.

    Lost Phoenix Spirits Limoncello (700ml)
    South Australia, AUSTRALIA
    $54. 99
    Bottle
    $659.88 Dozen

Following the old saying, “When life gives you lemons, make limoncello!”, Lost Pheonix Spirits has created a fusion of light, zesty, and sweet notes, with an upfront burst of refreshing lemon tang. The process is driven by a commitment to quality and precision at every stage — starting with the lemons. Large, premium local lemons — primarily from Riverland, occasionally Adelaide Hills, with a preference for Eureka lemons due to their vibrant aroma and flavour. Each lemon is hand-peeled and juiced. By avoiding automated methods, they keep the bitter pith out and the bright citrus character in. The peel is then macerated in high-strength spirit to draw out essential oils and natural colour — this becomes the heart of our limoncello. Meanwhile, the juice is frozen immediately to preserve its natural acidity and colour, with no need for preservatives. After maceration, all elements combine in carefully measured amounts for balance and consistency. Finally, the finished product is bottled and ready to be enjoyed. Every step is intentional, allowing the quality of the fruit and the integrity of the process to speak for itself. Enjoy chilled or in a Limoncello Spritz. 27% Alc./Vol.

    ABV: 40%

Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product not pictured.

Distilled in 1971 (the vintage is not stated on the label) and matured in Oloroso sherry casks, this 33 year-old is by all reports a Sherry classic. Apart from scoring 95 points from Jim Murray's Whisky Bible it also notched up a Gold Medal at the San Francisco Spirits Competition.

Other reviews... Want to know what Sherry should really nose like: invest in a bottle of this. This is a vivid malt boasting spellbinding clarity and charm. A golden nugget of a dram which would have been better still at 46%

1972 Lonach Caperdonich 33 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
    Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
    $999. 00

    ABV: 41.9%

Note: Product has come from a private collection and as such has some minor scuffing/scratches/handling marks. Actual product not pictured.

The little-known Lonach label is an independent bottler closely associated with Duncan Taylor Scotch Whisky Ltd. The brand is named after the Lonach Highland and Games in Strathdon, Scotland, paying tribute to the annual gathering and the march of the Highlanders, which appears to be depicted on the front label here. Distilled in 1972, three decades in wood has reduced this very rare whisky from a closed distillery to just 41.9%. Non-chill filtered.

Other reviews... Colour: straw. Nose: fresher and much more on white fruits (apples, pears) and candle wax. Hints of shoe polish and then kiwis and gooseberries. Even more shoe polish and ‘new’ leather after a while, as well as a little oak and vanilla. A shoemaker’s malt? Mouth: not too bold I must say but very oaky, tannic (but not overly drying), tea-ish, with a little cardboard, nutmeg, white pepper… Well, it seems that the cask took a fair share here. Finish: not too long but certainly oaky. It’s almost like tea in which you’d have poured spirit. Not bad, but there are certainly (much) better Caperdonichs at Duncan Taylor’s. 78 points - whiskyfun.com

Old Forester 1910 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whisky (750ml)
    Kentucky, UNITED STATES
    $139. 99
    Bottle
    $1679.88 Dozen
    ABV: 46.5%

Collectors note, this marks the fourth and final expression of the Whisky Row Series. On 22nd October 1910, a fire on the bottling line halted production of Old Forester. Complicating matters, there was a vat of mature whisky waiting to be bottled. Otherwise facing ruin, the whisky was instead stored in new, charred oak containers to rest until the line could be repaired. What emerged was remarkable enough to become an entirely new expression, but one that wasn't to be labelled as "Bourbon" - even though it fits all the legal requirements. The double barreling was the first documented of its kind, now mimicked in this Old Forester that sees a second maturation at a low proof in barrels "charred nearly to the point of incineration”, allowing more of the sweet wood sugars to dissolve into the whiskey. The term "Old Fine Whisky" has been adopted as a historical nod for this edition. 46.5% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Not sure how much time you have in the day. But anyone with less than twenty minutes to spare shouldn't even think about starting on this one. Easily one of the most complex and satisfying bourbons out here. 95.5 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2025-26

...The last expression in the Whiskey Row series delivers a uniquely satisfying experience that stands out among both its siblings and other double barreled expressions at large. For some, this release may find the extreme char may be too much. Oak is predominant throughout the entire sip and lingers for a long time once the sip ends. However I find this to be Old Forester 1910’s main selling point. The oak influence comes off as refined and sweet and doesn’t come across as dry until the very end. It’s a nice deviation from other double barreled products on the market and one that finds a nice place in the Whiskey Row series lineup. OId Forester 1910 had high expectations to live up to. It was saved as the last expression in the Whiskey Row series and it came after the highly adored Old Forester 1920. Despite not quite living up to the same bang for your buck that Old Forester 1920 delivers, it does succeed in delivering a unique sip that’s very enjoyable in its own right. - breakingbourbon.com

    Closure: Cork

    Other Reviews...
The 2025 Lynch Moussas is so classy. Silky and refined, the 2025 is all charm. All the elements are so well-balanced. Readers will find a Pauillac of undeniable appeal. This is so precise. The 2025 is going to need a few years to soften, as the tannins are quite imposing, and yet there is so much wine. A major step forward. Drink 2033-2050.

    Antonio Galloni - Vinous

This is more structured, medium- to full-bodied, more chewy but balanced, with dark fruit, grainy but appealing, incisive with a sense of generosity. Pretty and subtle al dente currants. A blend of 77% cabernet sauvignon and 33% merlot.
    93-94 points
    James Suckling

Clean fragrance on the nose, black fruit and wild purple flowers with some creamy chocolate and vanilla touches. Round and filling, but less fleshy than Les Hauts, more taught and streamlined with focus and bite to the Cab strawberry and black currant fruit – pure and precise – with a lick of liquorice, graphite, cedar, tobacco, cigar, salt, flint and clove spice. Serious but with charm. Mint, freshness, a real Pauillac wine with strength but not too muscular. Drink 2030-2046.

1995 Signatory Vintage Glenrothes 30 Year Old Symington's Choice Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml) - 54.4%
    Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND
    $499. 00
    Bottle
    $5988.00 Dozen
    ABV: 54.4%

"...has everything that is good about Sherry: it is rich, indulgent, varied, deep and intense." - whiskybase.com

Whether for astute collecting or hedonistic drinking, Signatory's cask #6980 from Glenrothes should be on your short list. 499 bottles were decanted. Variously described as "monolithic" yet "more refined than a typical Symington profile", it comes full-term matured from a first-fill oloroso butt, uncut, straight from the cask. Regular readers may recall that this label highlights Andrew Symington's favourite picks from the enormous warehouses at Edradour in Pitlochry. First released in 2023 with a focus on heavily sherried malts aged between 20-35 years old, these whiskies have offered some freak values. But the great price doesn't matter if the whisky doesn't taste good. By all reports, this bottling fullfills all of the criteria for a stand-out buy in premium Speyside, especially in the context of what other distillers are commanding for sherried malts (often of younger age and lesser quality). We're told it's also increasingly unusual for Glenrothes to let go of heavily sherried stocks - of this or any calibre. 54.4% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... The Sherry is very intense: fig jam, cinnamon-dusted apple tart, raspberry coulis, dried dates and apricots, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, chocolate fondant, marzipan, creamy vanilla, damp wood, salted caramel, honey, parquet wax, incense, and freshly tanned leather. On the palate, it is very rich and sweet, but not excessively so: raisins, slivered almonds, crushed quince, several candied fruits, a generous helping of spice, crème brûlée, and a hint of lemon zest. The finish begins with dark chocolate, coffee beans, cashew nuts, melted butter, shortbread cookies, and a touch of wild strawberries. Toasted walnuts and nougat complete the experience. - whiskybase.com

A seaside distillery, located on the banks of the River Deveron, next to the Moray Firth, Macduff was built in 1960 in response to the post-war whisky boom. With its classical and functional structure, it produces a spirit known for being nutty with a gentle, fruity sweetness. 2011 Signatory Vintage Orkney (HP) 14 Year Old 100 Proof Edition #58 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)
    Orkney Islands, SCOTLAND
    $119. 99
    Bottle
    $1439.88 Dozen
    ABV: 57.1%

Signatory's latest shipment includes two Orkney whiskies that were distilled and bottled back-to-back. This one was finished in Amontillado hogsheads, the other in Palo Cortado hogsheads. Some have said the style here is a bit brash and in your face, but that's expected from Highland Park bottled at near cask strength. Yours is the opportunity to secure one or both editions at very reasonable prices. 57.1% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Other reviews... Perhaps the whisky is a touch too hot. Otherwise, it certainly has lovely Highland Park aromas. As is often the case with 100 proof bottlings, the whisky isn't particularly complex. However, the Highland Park character manages to assert itself against the cask, and a nice creamy caramel note also emerges. - whiskybase.com

    Orkney Islands, SCOTLAND
    $119. 99
    Bottle
    $1439.88 Dozen
    ABV: 57.1%

The second 'secret' Orkney in our direct import Signatory consignment is an unusual bottling matured in Palo Cortado casks. You could think of this relatively rare sherry style as a bridge between the elegance of Amontillado and the richness of Oloroso, imparting a combination of dryness, nutty intensity and vibrant fruitiness. Whether much of that character will carry through to the whisky will be interesting to find out. Good reviews for both HP editions in this shipment. Which to choose?! 57.1% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.

Other reviews... In direct comparison, I preferred number 58 (Amontillado) slightly more... both bottlings deserve nothing but praise! - whiskybase.com

...The first impression is rather average, but the whisky improves with each new sip, especially when adding water. It's not an easy one, and this makes it even more interesting to explore. A good buy in my opinion and an unexpected detour from the regular heavily sherried lineup in 100 proof series. - whiskybase.com

Egans Vintage Single Grain Irish Whiskey (700ml)
    IRELAND
    $124. 99
    Bottle
    $1499.88 Dozen
    ABV: 46%

Matured in American oak casks for a minimum of eight years. Bright gold. Aromas of vanilla wafer, caramel and custard countered by straw / grass. Some balsa wood? Slightly rum-like after air contact. A middleweight, mildly oily grain with a pleasing balance of caramel, vanilla and emerging fruitiness. Glides through the finish which is judiciously spiced, crisp, warming. Good length. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Other reviews... From vintage 2009, this bourbon cask matured whiskey is around the 8 year mark. Vanilla custard tarts, digestive biscuits, green vegetal notes, and scents of a bakery counter pull you in. Caramel, active spices, soft fruits, peach, apple, pear, pepper, and golden sultana flavors, but as the caramels slide into toffee the grain character becomes more evident into the finish.

Rich and succulent with polished yet sturdily built tannins and a sense of freshness across the long finish.

Sourced from vines with an average age of 80 years old with maturation taking place in older large format French oak. Deep dark red core with black tinged edges and a red to dark red hue. Spicy red raspberry and red liquorice aromas are trailed by some subtle vanilla, dried herb, crushed rock and pepper notes. Rich, succulent dark raspberry, liquorice and ripe cherry fruits flood the mouth with notions of vanillin spice, crushed rock and pepper the undercard. From Blewitt Springs’ Loulakis vineyard off 80-year-old bush vines. This spent six months in old, large format oak. Rollicking red fruits and musky, rosy florals in a tenor range, reflecting the chill season and the relatively early picking theme of this cuvée to retain fruitful verve and drive. It’s supple and finely tannic, and a very neat, well-constructed wine; polished, but with a distinct grenache revival feel. Drink by 2031.

In Alto Adige Pinot Grigio ranks as one of the most important varieties and altitude is king. Erste + Neue’s Pinot Grigio comes from some of their highest sites ranging in altitudes up to 800 metres that have an array of different soil types. Picked in late September to retain acidity and freshness, post fermentation the pressed juice spends about 6 months in 110-hectolitre neutral oak and is left on gross less to provide additional texture and palate weight.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a watery hue. Delightful pear and red apple skin aromas mix with faint whiffs of honeysuckle, quince and wet stone. Generous pear, red apple and spicy quince fruits impress with their intensity and textural shape. Delicate honeysuckle and stony mineral elements lie underneath. Fresh acidity with a long juicy finish that’s gorgeously rounded.

Lip smacking Bickford’s lime and lemon flavours are underscored by razor sharp like acidity with some oily toast, honeysuckle, infusions of orange blossom and wet steel elements framing the back half. A blend of fruit from McLaren Vale and the Adelaide Hills, not the most common pairing but one that works here. Basket pressing of small batches, before a long and cool fermentation, is brought to a halt before the wine reaches full dryness, providing balance. Pale lemon, we have notes of citrus, florals, cold tea and a hint of peaches. A mineral support lies in the background with a line of fresh acidity. There is some fruit sweetness evident towards the finish – at least, it appears as such but is no doubt that remaining residual sweetness. The wine fills out on the palate, with a touch of orange rind on the finish and good length. Drink 2024-2028.

The Vineyard Series offers mirror images of the same vineyards in the Yarra Valley for both Chardonnay and Pinot Noir. Always fascinating to see which variety really steps up. The 2024 vintage has provided us with a photo finish, although the nod probably goes to Chardonnay by a wafer-thin margin. That certainly doesn’t mean there aren’t some brilliant Pinots on offer, none more so than this stunning wine. Fermentation is by way of a combination of whole bunches and berries in open containers for two weeks before eleven months maturing in French oak. Pale crimson with a russet rim, this offers a beautifully fragrant nose with notes of florals, raspberries, dried herbs, cherries, spices, notably nutmeg and cinnamon, and kirsch. A Pinot Noir of finesse and focus, this is superbly balanced with impressive length. Like one imagines drinking silk would be. And such persistence. For enjoying over the next seven to ten years. Today Chateau Pontet Canet is one of the most popular and collectable wines in all of Bordeaux, and much of this success has come from the extraordinary quality of wines made in the last two decades. While ranked as a Fifth Growth in the 1855 Classification, today the property would easily be regarded as a Second Growth as the wines often rival the best in the region. Much of the emphasis at Pontet Canet is in the vineyard, and the property has converted to 100% biodynamics as of 2005. The vineyard is next to Chateau Mouton-Rothschild, and is planted to 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.

    Other Reviews...
A blend of 56% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 1% Petit Verdot that weighs in at 13.3% alcohol, the 2025 Pontet-Canet is one of the finest wines this estate has produced. Wafting from the glass with aromas of sweet cassis, wild berries and plums mingled with notions of violet and burning embers, it's full-bodied, ample and velvety, with a degree of structural polish and sensuality that is rare in the Médoc, ripe acids and a long, penetrating finish. Over the last handful of years, technical director Mathieu Bessonnet and his team have revitalized Pontet-Canet's vineyards with well-timed soil work and precise phytosanitary treatments; and since 2023, the careful use of "pieds de cuve" in the winery, along with early blending, more refined barrel choices and cooler temperatures in the chai—plus more precise bottling practices—have conspired to take this estate to new heights of quality and consistency. In 2025, the team formed lower-than-usual "ponts" (whereby the canopies of adjacent vines are braided together in an arch) to retain denser foliage to protect the fruiting zone from sunshine, and they waited to pick late in pursuit of full maturity in Cabernet Sauvignon, finishing on September 23. The result is one of the wines of the vintage.

The 2025 Pontet-Canet is a wine of exquisite class. Silky, aromatic and vibrant, the 2025 is all finesse. Crushed red/purplish fruit, lavender, rose petal and a gentle hint of spice are all wonderfully knit together. Pontet-Canet is one of the more refined, sublimely beautiful wines of the year. This could turn out even better than my note suggests. Tasted two times. Drink 2033-2065.

Deep purple plum colour in the glass with earthy, blackcurrant fruit aromas. Crystalline and focussed, this is seamless and quite straight - tannins are fine but give a solid structure and edge to the wine with brilliant purity to the fruit. Excellent freshness but it’s more than just cool and pure, there’s perfect tension and weight, clarity and finesse with detail - sinewy, juicy, fresh, fragrant, cool and mouthwatering. Delicate and graceful with the power from ample tannins building afterwards full of liquorice, sticky cola, black chocolate, a dusting of espresso and tobacco. A very transparent expression of the vintage - not overly demonstrative but structured and fresh with a great promise of long ageing. 3.7pH. Harvest 2-15 September with indigenous yeasts and no sulphur usage for fermenations and a long maceration to soften the tannis. 1% of Petit Verdot completes the blend. Ageing 40% new oak. Drink 2034-2055.

    Georgina Hindle - Decanter

Inky but vivid bright plum colour, tannins at the front of the mouth, a ton of energy, if reserved at this early stage. Expect graphite and crayon, lovely lift and floral Cabernet Sauvignon character; low yields like much of Pauillac and small berries ensuring the tannins are plentiful. Walks the line of fresh and juicy flavours alongside a brooding concentrated architecture, huge ageing potential with cold ash and gunsmoke nuance. Although there was some rain at end of June and July, this was still a dry vintage, and vineyard work including braiding the vines for shade and applying chamomile as sunscreen, so they coped better than in 2022 overall. Harvest September 2 to 23, indigenous yeasts that are specific to the vintage, 40% new oak, 35% clay amphoras, 15% one year old barrels. Extended maceration, low SO2 with zero added until after fermentation. Drink 2035 - 2055.

The Bruce was the first wine Izway produced and since it’s inception in 2003 it has always been unashamedly Barossan with rich fruit, power, depth, texture and structure all hallmarks of this outstanding wine. Fruit was sourced from four different Barossa Valley vineyards located in the sub districts of Koonunga Hill, Ebenezer, Molculta and Moppa with vines varying in age between 31 to 131 years old.

An absolute showstopper that takes hedonism to a whole new level.

Magnificent glass staining colour featuring an impenetrable inky black heart along with an equally deep dark red black hue. Commanding aromas of dark plum, liquorice, blackberry and fennel are delivered with terrific potency, notions of smoky vanillin cedar, earth and peppered dried herbs leaning in for further complexity. Rich, incredibly dense and voluptuous, every corner of the mouth is engulfed by a super concentrate of dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits which are infused with smoky fennel elements. Dark chocolate, dried herb and peppered earth characters unfold across the expansive back half. Despite it’s overwhelming opulence, it shows ample focus and possesses silky smooth yet structured tannins. Enormously powerful and explosive, it finishes with prodigious length.

Its unmistakable dimpled bottle and growing reputation for quality gave it a distinct presence, while age‑stated releases like the 12‑year‑old helped steady its position in an expanding market. The first of the 2025 vintage, bottled from the notably dry growing season. A very elegant and sincere expression of sauvignon blanc abounds from the glass, with aromas of delicate white florals, wafts of honeysuckle, morning dew atop blades of grass, the freshness clear and abundant. Attention to detail is the mantra here, from start to finish. Sourced from multiple picks across two of Sidewood’s estate vineyards in the central Hills – a two week harvesting window allowing for choice in ripeness and across the aromatic and flavour spectrum. Begins with a vibrant tropical fruit salad note, squeezed with lime juice, covering the exotic to the citrus in textbook fashion, nose and palate in sync. It’s then that the mouthfeel and textural elements lift their game, mouthwatering sensations rising as tempered acidity and minerally, chalky layering drive a long, flavourful finish – with a touch of white pepper for good measure. Enjoy this as an easygoing splash, or more seriously at the table with seafood, sauced well, and even better with Asian spices. Delish no matter when you serve it.

The 2023 Descendant is a single-vineyard wine composed of co-fermented Shiraz (96%) and Viognier. The vineyard was planted in 1994 for Torbreck, and the old cuttings used for the planting were from great old heritage blocks around the district. Aromatically, the wine is classically Descendant—meaty, floral, savory and earthy, with mineral tannins and sandalwood as well. There is a fresh juniper character alongside the dark fruit. The intensity of tannin endures long beyond the flavor. The cool season has birthed a wine of great concentration and length, which demands time. 15% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. The first year the Springs Hill vineyard has been under full Paralian viticultural control (and ownership) from winter dormancy through to bottling. Two plantings, one 1998 and the other the original ’75 vines; 2t saw 20% whole bunches, with 5t destemmed; 10 months in French oak, 17% new. There’s such a site signature here, blue fruits and floral notes, iron and iodine, soft licorice, a smoky/earthy quality, something like humus-rich earth and moist tobacco. There’s also black olive, sun-warmed hardy herbs and lavender. It’s a complex wine, high in detail, the tannin quality of the highest order, the drive and length compelling. The value for this quality and character is exceptional. Drink by 2038.

Thick, power packed and ultra rich, this is pure decadence in a bottle.

Predominately sourced from the Gomersal and Marananga sub regions of the Barossa with contributions from Krondorf and Greenock as well. Maturation took place in a combination of new (40%), second fill and seasoned French oak barriques for a period of 24 months.
Magnificent density of colour featuring an impenetrable inky black heart along with an equally deep black dark purple hue. Heady ripe dark plum, blackberry, dark chocolate and liquorice aromas waft through the olfactory senses complimented by toasty vanillin oak, earthy mocha and spicy fennel notes. Thick, power packed and ultra rich, the palate is pure decadence in a bottle. A super concentrate of dark plum, blackberry and liquorice fruits flow across the palate with tidal wave like force. Earthy dark chocolate, spicy vanillin oak and mocha characters lend further nuance. Sturdily built yet velvet like tannin structure with a saturating and profoundly long finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

The 2023 The Factor is a celebration of old-vine vineyards in the Barossa Valley, and this sourcing philosophy is clear in this wine. The Barossa is capable of great density, power, intensity and focus, and this wine here shows all of these things. The cool, wet and late season that was 2023 has yielded a wine of saturated red fruit flavor and freshness. I like it so much. 15.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork. Drink 2026-2043.

A savoury, medium bodied, red fruited Clare Valley Shiraz.

Opaque black dark red core with a dark red hue. Aromas of red liquorice and plum infused with peppered earth like notes are followed by some subtle smoky vanillin cedar and spicy black olive notes. Medium bodied, red liquorice and red plum fruits are intermeshed with spicy vanillin cedar, scorched earth and blackpepper characters. Bright acidity and slightly chalky tannins with a savoury mid length finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

We tend to think of Pikes Rieslings as the wines from their portfolio which offer truly stellar value, for good reason. Add this to the list – a cracking value Clare Valley Shiraz. Maturation is in a mix of new and older oak for fifteen months. Deep maroon/magenta, the nose reveals notes of black cherries, florals, leaf litter, chocolate, aniseed and beef stock. A supple texture, the wine is beautifully balanced with a lingering finish, through to the silkiest of tannins. Drinks way better than some of its competitors, which are twice the price or more. For enjoying over the next ten to twelve years. Drink 2025-2037.

    Light, zingy and sweet.

Vibrant pale straw to straw colour with subtle flashes of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Fragrant grape juice, rosewater, musk and pineapple scents sail out of the glass. Grapey musk, pineapple and sweet mango flavours are underscored by a very faint spritz. Zingy grape and pineapple laced finish.
