Many think of France and Cognac exclusively when it comes to brandy, however any country that produces wine (or fruit) typically makes brandy too. The genre has as many permutations as any spirits category, starting with classic wood aged expressions from the French regions of Calvados and Armagnac as well traditional European fruit eaux de vies, fine Italian grappas, Slivovitz, Arak, Marc and high end Spanish and Australian brandies - not to forget exotic unaged Piscos from South America.
