Together with Julia Keller, they continue to refine a style that balances crystalline purity with textural depth, producing some of the most sought-after wines in Germany and beyond.
Not content with crafting some of the world's most precise Rieslings, the Keller family are equally adept with Burgundian varieties. This cuvée of Weissburgunder (Pinot Blanc) and Chardonnay represents Felix Keller's ongoing exploration of white Burgundy style through the lens of Dalsheim's limestone soils. The wine brings together purity and texture, with the structure of Chardonnay lending depth to the lifted, mineral profile of Pinot Blanc. It remains one of the most elegant and complete expressions of these varieties produced in the Rheinhessen.

Sourced largely from the Hubacker and Kirchspiel Grosse Lage vineyards, the Limestone Riesling is a study in tension and clarity. It combines concentrated fruit and spice with a gentle touch of sweetness, all carried by Keller's hallmark, finely etched acidity. The result is a wine that shows remarkable focus and drive while remaining accessible and immediate, a perfect introduction to the off-dry style of the estate.

The Limestone Kabinett captures a lighter, more delicate side of Keller's winemaking. It serves as the off-dry counterpart to Von der Fels, showing similar purity and precision but in a finer, more lifted frame. The balance between sweetness and acidity is seamless, giving a wine of effortless charm, freshness and mineral clarity.

This one is already bottled and released. Fruit from Kirchspiel and AbtsE.
Back to pure fruit after the savoury intensity of G-Max and Morstein: ripe green fruits, creamy citrus, creamy like tangy lemon curd. With air, more smoky, but with the sweetness of a Kabinett wine, the fruit is highlighted. Fruity yet stony. Generous and fresh at the same time. An intense Kabinett with excellent balance even with very high acidity. Needs time to become less primary. Drink 2026-2035.

2024 Keller Von der Fels RieslingRheinhessen, GERMANYReduced from $115.00$105. 00Bottle$1260.00 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: CorkIt is difficult to overstate just how central Weingut Keller has become to the modern understanding of dry Riesling. Much of this quality stems from remarkable raw material. The estate farms some of the Rheinhessen's greatest sites: Morstein, Abtserde, Kirchspiel and Hubacker, with most vines now well over 30 years old, and many far older. Yields rarely exceed 35 hl/ha, harvest is deliberately late, and meticulous hand selection allows for long skin contact before gentle pressing. Fermentation takes place in a mix of old oak and stainless steel, always with an eye toward transparency and finesse rather than weight.
While more than 85 percent of Keller's holdings lie within Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) vineyards, only a small proportion is bottled under those designations. The estate's calling card, Riesling von der Fels, has taken on a greater role in recent years, both in scale and in significance. Initially conceived as a cuvée of young-vine fruit from top sites, it now incorporates a growing proportion of mature vines producing fruit of genuine GG quality. The result is a dry Riesling that captures the essence of the Keller style with remarkable clarity and precision.

The 2024 Riesling von der Fels, made with 50% grapes from Kirchspiel and the other 50% from Frauenberg, Hubacker, Abtserde and Morstein, was vinified in stainless steel and 600- to 2,400-liter oak vats. The wine displays bright, elegant, fresh and delicately spicy fruit with citrus and salty notes. Lean, elegant and juicy on the palate, with plenty of salt, a firm structure and lively citrus notes, this is an almost light, aromatic and very drinkable dry Riesling from shell limestone and limestone soils. It has a savory finish. 12.5% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domaine in August 2025. Drink 2028-2045.

Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe winery’s calling card, says Keller. Includes a higher percentage of Kirchspiel (45%) than normal, with one barrel from vines planted 1964, two barrels of Morstein and AbtsE and a bit of Hubacker. Also the younger Frauenberg vines. Average vine age 30 years. No longer really the young vines though that is how this cuvée started. 40,000 bottles produced. To be released May 2025. Cask sample.
Lightly flinty aroma, pure salty-sour citrus. More mineral and less Riesling-defined than usual. High acid, great tension. Minerality of the vintage and Kirchspiel. A serious Von der Fels. Tight, bone dry, sinewy but with a mouth-watering grapefruit-like fruit foundation. Texture, too, with high dry extract in 2024 giving body to balance the freshness. Acidity is high but integrated. Drink 2027-2035.

RR stands for Riesling from red-soiled parcels within Kirchspiel, where the iron-rich earth gives a spicier, more textural profile than the limestone sites used for Von der Fels. In some vintages the fermentation finishes completely dry, while in others a small touch of residual sugar remains, creating a beautifully balanced feinherb expression. The 2024 vintage offers bright fruit, fine grip and an energetic, savoury edge that highlights the distinct personality of these red soils.

The Abtserde vineyard sits immediately above the old monastery site in Westhofen, on pure limestone soils with light marl. It is regarded as one of the estate's most finely detailed sites, producing wines defined by precision and minerality, and is among Keller's most limited bottlings.

From the Abtserde plot within the Brunnenhäuschen site in Westhofen, the 2023 Abts E Riesling GG is incredibly pure, deep and intense on the nose that is concentrated and chalky, with saline and lemony notes. Full-bodied, pure, fresh and saline on the palate, this is a highly complex and tight Riesling with a very intense, aromatic and structured finish. A great Riesling! Tasted as a sample in May this year. Drink 2025-2070.

Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2023 Riesling Westhofener Brunnenhäuschen Abtserde Grosses Gewächs is from a site between Kirchspiel and Morstein with the high active limestone. The shy nose teases with immensely pure but tender lemon peel notes, still interspersed with reduction. More air adds lemon balm. The palate is a picture of slenderness, brightness, freshness and limestone coolness. Underneath that is salt, stone and immense juiciness. Zestiness reigns, bringing length, depth and extra dimensions of citrus radiance. This is luminous and pure. (Bone-dry) Drink 2028-2060.

Anne Krebiehl MW - VinousThis is mineral magic! Unbelievably concentrated, but also unbelievably elegant and refined on the medium-bodied palate, this defies easy description. As you swirl the glass the various aromatic dimensions of the wine—stone fruit, citrus, fresh herbs and chalk dust—reveal themselves one after another. Incredibly long, pure and stony at the mind-blowing finish. Drink from release.

The tonal scale starts to rise here to a higher note than in Morstein but also showing more obvious smoky/mineral reduction. Ripe, pure and lightly spicy citrus, becoming ever more fragrant with air. A perfect contrast between crisp acidity and a rounded, deep fullness in the mouth, very different from the Rieslings grown on slate-dominated sites. Immense power, depth and length and an icy-cool finish cutting through all that depth. Drink 2027-2040.

Morstein is the most historic of Keller's holdings, first documented in the 13th century and renowned for its active limestone and clay-marl composition. The vineyard's elevation and exposure give it a reputation for longevity and complexity, making it a cornerstone of Keller's dry Riesling portfolio.

From vines planted in 1944, the Westhofen 2023 Morstein Riesling GG opens intense and fine like a perfume, with wet chalk, lemon juice and yellow plum aromas. Full-bodied, pure and refined on the palate, this is a juicy, savory and saline, finely tannic and chalky Riesling with a long, aromatic and stimulating finish. Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2023 Riesling Westhofener Morstein Grosses Gewächs is made from 75-year-old vines higher up in the Morstein. Just a touch of reduction still swings on the nose, but underneath, white peach, lemon balm and chervil flirt enticingly. Later on, creamy lemon joins in. Smooth serenity, absolutely cooling depth and an almost zen-like calm define the palate. Lemon at the core is almost incidental to this luminous, cool, profound wine with impeccable purity, poise and freshness. The longer you consider this, the deeper it sinks into that limestone. This is a slender, contoured monument to tranquility. (Bone-dry) Drink 2028-2060.

Stuart Pigott - JamesSuckling.comSomeone once described Keller's wines as the Puligny-Montrachet of Germany, and this one exemplifies that association. It’s not the grape variety that takes centre stage here, but the terroir – clay marl with limestone on a rocky subsoil. Everything comes together in perfect harmony: a silky texture, balanced ripeness, and a captivating flow. A hint of iodine mingles with citrus fruit, and the memory of this wine lingers far beyond its finish. Drink 2024-2055.

An even deeper note than in the Oberer Hubacker. Spicy, rich, open in citrus and smoky/herbal complexity. A little more obvious reduction here. Altogether a darker, deeper wine that the previous wines from limestone soils. Immense concentration and power, essence of Riesling from this site, which give a more savoury complexity and seems incapable of flirting with the taster. But the taste stays with you for ever. Something here reminds me of Schubertslay even though the soils and the topography are so different. A smoky/herbal aftertaste. Drink 2027-2040.

Oberer Hubacker lies in the upper section of the Hubacker vineyard in Dalsheim, characterised by clay-limestone soils with higher limestone content than the parcels below. Picked at 31 hectoliters per hectare, the sample of the Dalsheimer 2023 Oberer Hubacker Riesling GG is deep and pure yet not ascetic on the nose that indicates ripe fruit with yeasty and saline notes. Full-bodied, tight and fresh on the palate, this is a dense yet weightless and finessed, persistently salty and finely juicy but always calcareous Riesling. Stephan Reinhardt - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateThe 2023 Riesling Dalsheimer Oberer Hubacker Monopol Grosses Gewächs opens with prompt Amalfi lemon ripeness on the nose. Harvested from slightly richer soils, this comes in with more weight and concentration on the palate, showing immense lemon brightness and a fine-boned, crunchy texture that tingles with freshness. It’s reminiscent of lemon peel and pith, alongside vivid saltiness and even spice. With a serene bearing, cooling depth and a vibrant, saline edge, it’s all helped along by a subtle textural grip. Anne Krebiehl MW - VinousThis compact dry riesling has restrained power, but is still very young and only just beginning to open up. A wide range of aromas, from pomelo through jasmine, that are just opening up. More green fruits here than in the Kirchspiel, a deeper tone, like going down a tonal scale from von der Fels to Kirchspiel to this wine. Stony/mineral dustiness. On the palate there's great depth and richness, the wine's feet planted more squarely on the ground than those of the Kirchspiel, but it still reaches up to the sky with purity of citrus fruit and intense freshness on the finish. Very long, with extreme tension and freshness. Needs time. As it opens in the glass, it gains more smoky complexity. Drink 2026-2038.

The Alte Reben Reserve represents the Keller family's most ambitious expression of their Burgundian varieties, a deeply personal project for Felix and Klaus-Peter that channels the same precision and drive that define their Rieslings. Sourced from 30-60 year old vines across the limestone slopes of Westhofen and Dalsheim, including parcels in Aulerde, Frauenberg and Steingrube, this blend of Chardonnay (60%) and Pinot Blanc (40%) is built for longevity and complexity. The grapes are crushed and given twelve hours of skin contact before fermenting in a mix of 228 and 1,200 litre barrels, around one-third new, sourced from leading Burgundian coopers. The result is a wine of both substance and refinement, with Chardonnay bringing breadth and power while Pinot Blanc contributes taut, mineral precision. It stands as one of the most complete articulations yet of the Kellers' vision for these varieties on Rheinhessen's limestone soils.

Stephan Reinhardt - Wine Advocate (Dec 30, 2023)The 2022 Sylvaner Feuervogel is harvested on light limestone in the Westhofener Steingrube from 65-year-old vines. Two thousand and nine was the first vintage, and it was named Feuervogel as this bird symbolizes renewal and departure, giving new impulse to this time-honored variety in Rheinhessen. The nose is scented, almost floral, but with a limestone edge, very tender. The palate is juicy and chalky, with much riper lemon notes. It's buffered, mouth-watering, vivacious and energetic. Fragrant with wildflowers and wildflower honey but no real sense of sweetness in the aroma. A touch of fresh pear, slightly richer in than the Limestone. Dry and textured on the palate even with the sweetness (I usually find sweeter wines have a more rounded texture), a chalky, dry contrast with the actual sweetness in the wine. Laurent Roumier is the grandson of the legendary Georges Roumier and his holdings originate from that grand old estate with more recent additions of 6 hectares in the Hautes Cotes de Nuits being purchased in the 1990s and further purchases in Chambolle-Musigny. His father Alain was the cellar master for Comte de Vogue for nearly 3 decades before taking his portion of the family vineyards to farm for his own family. Wines here appear stylistically very similar to those of Georges with even the same barrels and oak used as his cousins though one notable difference is that Laurent mostly de-stems giving wines that show excellent depth of colour and which are more immediately perfumed and accessible in their youth while still having ample depth and structure to age classically.
The vines are on average 35 years old, and they are farmed traditionally and naturally, with neither fertilizer nor herbicide. Green harvests are carried out in the summer when necessary. All of the vines are harvested by hand. In the cellar, the work is carried out with the same level of precision. The grapes are entirely destemmed the vinified in concrete vats. Alcoholic fermentation lasts around 15 days, with pumping over and punching down every day, and the temperature is checked every day. When it comes to pressing, the team decants the wines for 12 hours in vats and then barrels (50% of which are new for the grand crus and the premier crus, 30% for the villages and 10% for the Bourgogne Hautes-cotes-de-nuits). The elevage lasts 15 to 18 months, with the barrels (mostly Tonnelerie Rousseau) being topped up once a week and racked two or three times during the entire period of elevage.
From a tiny parcel of vines 0.71 ha is planted to Chardonnay in the chalkiest most limestone soils in the La Poirelotte vineyard located higher above Chambolle village vineyards.

A stony and minerally white with chamomille and hints of pears. The palate is concentrated and flavorful with fresh acidity. It’s layered and textured, with the inherent austerity that characterizes this type of wine in its youth. From a 90-year-old single vineyard planted mostly with rabigato in Douro Superior. JamesSuckling.comVines are over 80 years old. Tasted from a fairly small pour, and I’d have liked to have got to know it a bit better, but here we are.
Sea spray, lemon and green apple, aniseed and herb perfume, a little spice and nutty character. It’s tight and zesty, distinctly saline, but also has some nutty and creamy characters to offset, there’s some fine chalky grip, and a lively finish of excellent length. Distinctive. Founded in 1797 Maison Louis Latour has survived the ages, and has always made it a point of honour to remain family owned. It is now run by the seventh Louis Latour who represents the 11th generation of the founding family, who like each generation before him, has worked hard to preserve the company’s unique heritage whilst ensuring the future with an ambitious and visionary spirit. The Latour family Domaine has been built up over the years and today covers 50 hectares of exceptional vineyards.
Widely considered the finest vineyard in Meursault, Les Perrières is marked by thin, rocky soils with high proportions of limestone. Across the various parts of Perrières, the topsoil is the thinnest, consisting of just a crumbling of limestone marl over the hard bedrock. The presence of the limestone helps to contribute minerality to the wines, a characteristic that Perrières wines are particularly noted for, especially in relation to Charmes or Genevrières wines.

2019 Maison Valette Vire-Clesse Et Pourtant...Burgundy, FRANCE$185. 00Bottle$2220.00 DozenABV: 14.5%Closure: CorkFor three generations, the Valette family has lived in Chaintré, a small village on the border between Mâconnais and Beaujolais. They grow only Chardonnay on fifteen acres scattered in five villages. The domain was created in 1977, when Gérard Valette was one of the first in the area to leave the local cooperative and start bottling his own wine. After completing wine training, son Philippe joined in 1990 and then decided to convert the family's vineyards to organic farming, using biodynamic methods since 1992.
The Valette's are known for their specific style, wines raised with thorough lees-contact and without racking. They have remained true to this style of winemaking since the 1950s. It is a sort of family tradition that requires accuracy as well as painstaking detail knowledge of the indigenous yeasts and the wine’s proneness to develop reductive flavours. If the estate's wines through the late 1990s were simply powerful, textural examples of high-quality white Burgundy, the wines being released today belong in a category of their own. Complex and sapid, these are fascinating wines although you should be prepared to find wines that are quite different from any of the Valettes' neighbours. Anyone who appreciates the Jura bottlings of Jean-François Ganevat or the Thomas Pico Chablis wines is likely to love them.
Vire-Clesse Et Pourtant.. hails from plots where the soils contain high levels of limestone lending an extra level of freshness and intensity to the wine. Average age of the vines here is 60 years old, and following vinification the wine is aged for 30 months in older barrels. As with all of Valette's wines, this will benefit from extended aeration so decanting is recommended.

Naming her estate after her grandmother, Marie Courtin, Dominique has set out to craft Champagnes which emphasise how her specific terroir can be expressed in a given vintage. Her wines then are single vineyard and single vintage, made with meticulously grown fruit from biodynamically-grown grapes, see no dosage, and sulfur is used sparingly or not at all.
Along with her stunning Champagnes, Dominique has started making tiny quantities of Coteaux Champenois still wine. le Blanc du Tremble is 100% Pinot Noir from 40 year old vines that was direct pressed before being vinified in one clay and one sandstone amphora.
