From Clarendon. This is fine gris. With more textural mettle, it would be stellar. Whiffs of baking spice, tarte tatin, pear slushy and shaved almonds skittle along a beam of freshness. Succulence, to balance. A pithy, attractively bitter finish marked with quinine. A superlative vintage of measured wines. This is no exception. Drink by 2024.

Family owned and operated since 1975, Ashbrook Estate is one of Margaret River’s oldest wineries. As is the tradition with this Chardonnay, 50% of the wine undergoes primary fermentation in brand new French oak barriques and the remaining half in stainless steel, where they remained and were matured on lees for 8 months. Malolactic fermentation was avoided to preserve the fruits freshness. After blending and bottling the wine is then given a further 12 months bottle aging before being released.

A delicious, intensely flavoured Margaret River Chardonnay.

Intense aromas of ripe peach and apricot overlaid with honeycomb sail through the olfactory senses followed by light butterscotch, citrusy nougat characters and subtle spicy cashew. Rich and full with a creamed mid palate feel, generous ripe peach, apricot and honeycomb flavours fill the mouth over citrusy nougat characters, traces of butterscotch and spice. A lick of vibrant acidity leads into a long fresh finish. Excellent length with a richly textured aftertaste dominated by ripe yellow fruits, honeycomb and citrusy nougat characters.

Wild-yeast fermentation, leaving a touch of residual sugar. Riesling is the winemaker's great strength and passion and it shows clearly each vintage. You could drown in the aromatic beauty of the scent: white flowers, lime, green apple, lemon zest, spice and musk. Dry and stylish acidity (it's the only word to describe the combination of bright and soft acidity) caress the palate, mouth-wateringly so. A touch of barely there sugar helps amplify the depth of fruit. A delight. Drink by 2033.

Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed direct to Louis Latour barriques (20% new) for 45% wild and 55% cultured yeast fermentation, matured for 11 months on lees. Made with the utmost care from hand-picked fruit, whole-bunch pressed to barrel, wild yeast ferment on solids in French barriques (25% new) then matured on lees for 11 months. A balanced mix of stone fruit, citrus to nougat, creamy lees, lemon curd and oak spices. While there's flavour aplenty, it's finely tuned and almost tight with excellent length. Drink by 2023.

Brilliant pale straw colour with glimmeringly green tinged edges and a watery hue. Scented white peach aromas meld into honeyed citrus like characters followed by some cashew, biscuity oak and spicy nougat. Richly flavoured yet light on its feet, a subtle creamy textural feel is perfectly counterpointed by a burst of freshness. Mouthfilling white peach and dried honey flavours interact with cashew, biscuity nougat and spice. Excellent length and balance. Long finish of white peaches, dried honey, citrusy nougat, biscuity cashew like characters and spice. A superb example of modern Australian Chardonnay.

Hand-picked, whole bunch-pressed, wild and cultured yeast, fermented on solids in French barriques (31%), matured for 11 months. Everything has been done to make this standout chardonnay in Coonawarra, and indeed it's a very smart wine by any standards. The balance of fruit flavours (stone fruit/citrus), and the integration of oak (the mouthfeel) are impeccable, but its X-factor comes with its length. Drink by 2024.

Bannockburn’s 1314 Chardonnay is made from a blend of fruit grown on their organically farmed vineyards; the oldest vines planted in 1976, through to the most recent 2016 planting. The fruit was whole-bunch pressed and settled overnight with wild yeast fermentation in French oak hogsheads of which approximately 20% is new, followed by partial malolactic fermentation. The wine was left on lees unstirred for 8 months prior to blending and bottling.
Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinted edges and a watery hue. Aromas of white peach and pear combine with subtle dried honey, roasted almond and spicy nougat notes. The mid weighted palate features rich peach, pear and dried honey flavours over a delicate crème brulee, roasted almond and spicy nougat back drop. Creamy textured and beautifully balanced it finishes with a lick of freshness and a long, refined aftertaste.

Specialising in Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the Uley vineyard was established in 1983 and purchased by Lindsay Barratt in 1990. At just over 6 hectares in size, situated at an altitude of 510 to 550 meters above sea level in the Adelaide Hills sub region of Piccadilly Valley, it lies just a few hundred metres away from one of the region’s pioneering producers, Ashton Hills.
After three seasons of low crop levels, 2021 not only produced more bunches but also fruit of exceptional quality. The juice was wild fermented in French oak barriques, 27% new, and underwent 100% malolactic fermentation, with 11 months oak maturation.

    Outstanding Adelaide Hills Chardonnay.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with distinct highlights of green to the edges and a watery hue. Alluring white peach, nectarine, citrus and biscuity oak aromas drift from the glass complimented by hints of cashew, spicy nougat and gun flint. Rich, fleshy textured white peach and nectarine fruits are layered across the mid weighted palate with great intensity and drive. Adding further interest are subtle dried honey, biscuity oak, cashew, spicy nougat and infusions of gun flint.
