- Overeem Distillery Single Cask OHD-080 12 Year Old Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)Tasmania, AUSTRALIA$450. 00Bottle$5400.00 DozenABV: 46%
This is it. The final cask from Overeem's 12 Year Old Bourbon series. Each has paid tribute to distillery founder and Tasmanian Whisky Pioneer, Casey Overeem, but has also aimed to celebrate the return of Overeem Whisky to its founding family. This expression symbolises all of the above, and simply stands alone as a delicious single cask whisky that upholds all of the qualities and attributes of the previous editions in the series. It speaks of Casey's dedication to quality and consistency, his meticulous eye for detail across all aspects of whisky creation, and his overarching promise "to create a whisky that would one day stand alongside the great whiskies of the world." Bottled at 46% with no chill filtration.

Redbreast 18 Year Old Single Pot Still Irish Whiskey (700ml)County Cork, IRELANDReduced from $350.00$299. 00Bottle$3588.00 DozenABV: 46%"...a silky and dessert-filled experience that is unlike any other Redbreast I’ve encountered." - drinkhacker.com
Bridging the gap between the distillery's older and younger offerings, Redbreast 18 Year Old is a novel and welcome addition to the range. While ex-bourbon casks are included, this new expression relies mostly on first-fill oloroso casks, also sporting whiskeys aged in barrels that previously held cream sherry - a first for the brand. Says Master Blender, Ian McCabe, "By incorporating cream sherry casks sourced from the Antonio Páez Lobato cooperage, we’ve created a whiskey that boasts a rich profile of dark chocolate, blackcurrants and hazelnuts.” It contrasts against its nearest neighbour, the 15-year-old, which he describes as more savoury and herbaceous. Also notable is the addition of liquid aged in Ruby Port, a component that was until now used exclusively in the top-of-the-line 27-year-old and the even rarer Dream Cask. By all reports, Redbreast 18 year old is a cracker that ups the richness on others in the line up, making for a superb dessert whiskey. 46% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... The nose is luxuriously appealing, with milk chocolate, maraschino cherry, bramble, black currant, Nutella, baked citrus, apricot, mango, oak spices, toasted nuts, and cinnamon bark. Smooth and polished on the palate, the complex cask regime serves up flavors of milk chocolate, licorice, black grape, sultana, date, ginger root, currants, and clove. The finish serves up dried fruit and licorice, with hints of leather and coffee bean. 94 points - whiskyadvocate.com
...The nose is rich and expressive and clearly inspired by those newer cask types. Top notes of strawberry shortcake, sugared almonds, and black cherry are airy but still decadent, acquiring an almost creamy texture with time in the glass. The aroma is elevated further by undertones of vanilla bean and crème brulee with fresh berries. A hint of peppery pot still spice adds some energy to an otherwise silky and dessert-filled experience that is unlike any other Redbreast I’ve encountered. The palate follows a similar theme, lush and syrupy initially with cherry cordial and blackberry jam, veering almost too far into the dessert dram lane. Things course correct however on the midpalate with more traditional Redbreast notes of white pepper, breakfast cereal, banana pudding, and candy apple before finding remarkable harmony on a long, warm finish accented with ripe red berries, vanilla cream, and candied ginger. Truly impressive. Without having sampled the 27-year-old, I have to say this is my favorite Redbreast to date. - drinkhacker.com

2021 Best’s Great Western Bin No. 1 ShirazGreat Western, Victoria, AUSTRALIA$21. 99Bottle$263.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2025-2033)ABV: 14%Closure: StelvinA rich, juicy, mid weighted Shiraz that’s long, elegant and peppery.
Introduced due to the relative scarcity of Best’s Thomson Family and Bin No. 0 Shiraz wines, the Bin No.1 Shiraz aims to provide an introduction to Great Western Shiraz style at a price point that gives the wine broader market access. Made predominantly from Best’s own vineyards it combines the varietals generosity with the region's cool climate elegance.
Deep midnight black colour with a dark red hue. Elevated dark plum and liquorice aromas mix with gently smoked vanillin cedar, earthy fennel and peppered dried herb notes. Rich, juicy and fleshy textured, the mid weighted palate is flooded with pepper infused dark plum and liquorice fruits which meld into a spicy vanillin cedar, scorched earth and fennel back drop. Polished fine grained yet structured tannins. Concludes long, elegant and peppery with an abundance of succulent fruit.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

This release is on song. Black pepper and peppercorn characters float through cherry and plum fruit flavour. It's lively, it has enough depth, it finishes well and it charms throughout. The fine-grained, savoury aspect of the tannin here is of particular note. If you like the Great Western style, you can buy this with confidence. Drink by 2033.

Campbell Mattinson – James Halliday’s Australian Wine CompanionThis is good. A cooler climatic expression that remains distinctly Australian, rather than playing the reductive hand of an ersatz Rhone. An exceptional nose of mace, clove, blue fruits, olive and briar, backed by a wave of beef bouillon and iodine-umami warmth. The tannins, a clatter across the middle, with a bow of dutiful acidity drawn to just the right degree of tension. Some scrubby menthol dries the finish ever so slightly. This said, this is a delicious wine of immense personality and soul. Drink or hold.

Uchu Umeshu (720ml)Oita, JAPAN$64. 99Bottle$779.88 DozenABV: 20%Closure: Screw CapUchu Umeshu is made with premium Oushukubai ume from Oita, and is aged for a minimum of three years. The extra ageing lends shimmering copper highlights to the amber toned hue of this rich and bold umeshu. Initial nosing sparks memories of Portello, cough lozenge, a hint of spearmint, before the subtle plum and peach notes show with air. Deep and viscous, the generous sweetness amplifies the flavours, as does the alcohol. Displaying a pleasing mix of red berry and plum flavours with more savoury vanilla, nougat, and tonka bean flavours, there's a lot to take in. One to serve over ice or with soda as a long drink. 20% Alc./Vol. Refrigerate after opening.

1925 Seppeltsfield 100 Year Old Para Vintage Tawny (100ml)Barossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA$1799. 00Bottle$21588.00 DozenABV: 23%Closure: CorkDrawn from a single vintage and matured in oak for 100 years before release, Seppeltsfield’s 1925 Para Vintage Tawny is part of an unbroken lineage unmatched in the world of fortified wine. Bottled direct from barrel at its centenary, it offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience a century of barrel age in its purest form.
Other Reviews....
In 1925, New York overtook London to become the largest city in the world, Benito Mussolini and Adolf Hitler's influence was rising, F. Scott Fitzgerald released The Great Gatsby, the Jazz Age was in full swing, and this was tucked away in barrel. That never ceases to blow my mind. It's a singularity of aroma and flavour. Dried fruits in an aqueous solution, candied nuts, mahogany, molasses, marzipan, fancy cigar lounge, espresso liqueur, candied figs and prunes, wood spice and citrus rind. It's in constant movement; light filters in and out, highlighting certain characters, casting shadow on others, in an ever-moving state of change. It's kinetic and endlessly complex and there ain't nothing else like it in the world. It really is a national treasure. Drink 2025-2055.

Dave Brookes - James Halliday's Wine CompanionOnly one puncheon of this wine was made in 1925, as with subsequent vintages, with the intention of releasing the wine after 100 years. It has gone almost motor-oil black with an intensely complex nose, showing layers of baking spices, dried fruit, chocolate, citrus peel and oil. The palate is so complex and thick, with surprisingly high and fresh acidity that comes from concentration in the barrel, giving toasted nuts, baking spices, espresso, cocoa and burnt butter. This is a truly rare and iconic wine with a great deal of complexity and poise. Exceptional. Drink or hold.

James SucklingThe 1925 Centennial Collection Para Port Vintage Tawny leads with dark chocolate and salted dates, sweet dark oak, resin, licorice and campfire. This is evocative and brings to mind embers that float across the field of vision of the wine. In the mouth, it is oily, smoky, rich and thick, with leather, autumn leaves, mahogany and even petrichor, a character I have not noted before. This is as intense and as black as I have ever seen it, and it moves even to black olive tapenade, roasted meat crust and clove, aniseed and arnica. It has length that feels never-ending, propelled either by sugar or age or the very shadows of time itself. I tasted from bottle number 062 (this bottle was later shared among wine lovers and friends and, in fact, was also shared in Burgundy with friends earlier in the year). 23.1% alcohol, sealed in 100-milliliter bottles of perfume glass.

Erin Larkin - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateDeep colour. Intense lifted ground coffee, praline, panforte aromas with smoky, liquorice, aniseed, cloves notes. Generously concentrated, dense and richly flavoured with fresh espresso, dark chocolate, orange rind, sandalwood cloves notes, fine supple textures, superb mid-palate volume/ viscosity and a persistent pure aniseed cut. Finishes smoky and long with apricot, panforte notes. A wonderful expression of Australian wine history and ambition. A living curio to share.

Andrew Caillard MWIt’s the physicality of the wine you notice first. It’s as dark as sump oil at its core, easing out to a rich olive green at its rims. And then you attempt to swirl it. There are continents that move more rapidly than these old tawnies flow from the glass. They grip the surface of a glass like a potter’s glaze and no wine on Earth has more of its production sucked off an index finger than one of these. Get your nose near the glass and you topple through time. Walnuts soaked in brandy, star anise and cloves, cassia bark and panforte, coffee grounds and dried mandarin peel. The lingering scent of waxy oilskin. It doesn’t so much hit the palate as detonate upon it, pushing complex flavour to untouched corners and staying around longer than an adult child saving for a house deposit. One of the wine world’s greatest experiences.

This stunning Margaret River Cabernet has 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot included. The team talk of some of the difficulties encountered by Margaret River wineries during this year, but everything is relative and a difficult vintage here seems to be the dream of many other regions. It was a year that finished extremely well, though, with a longer than average ripening period. Yields were down but in the end, some stellar fruit was harvested. Maturation was in French oak, 16% new, for around seventeen months. A deep maroon hue, there are notes of spices, herbs, black fruits, cloves, cassis, graphite, chocolate and tobacco leaves. A touch of biscuity oak, very well integrated, this is a wine of focus and intensity, and at all times it is immaculately balanced. Utterly seamless and seductive, there is a line of fine acidity running the full journey and the silkiest of tannins on the finish. This will easily sail through the next fifteen to twenty years, providing immense pleasure along the way. A superb Cabernet. Drink 2025-2045.

Ken Gargett – WinePilot.comThis was a very good vintage in Margaret River after the slightly more challenging ’21. This has the refined elegance and prettiness that is the Moss Wood DNA. The colour is quite pale compared to some previous vintages, but don’t be fooled into thinking this is some shrinking violet. Violets, yes, but plenty more in an engine room that is balanced and poised as the tannins and almost lyrically laid oak harness the exquisitely bright fruit. So well balanced. A wine of immense charm and appeal. I defy you to stop after the first sip.

RayJordanWine.com.au94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc, 2% Petit Verdot. Here we have a classic Moss Wood Cabernet, and maybe, though don’t mind me, it puts me in mind of the 2001 for richness and presence.
It’s a powerhouse Cabernet and classic Moss Wood in terms of intensity and regal carriage. Black fruit, dried cranberry, cedar, nutmeg, dried flower perfume, tobacco, and damp earth. It sweeps though the palate with grilled nuts, toast, fresh blackberry, a whole lot of sweet grainy tannin and black tea perfume, acidity is balanced and present, and the finish thunders and goes very long. Quite a wine. Outstanding. Drink 2028-2044+

The Clydeside Distillery Stobcross Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Lowlands, SCOTLAND$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenABV: 46%Ever since the Kinclaith stills at Strathclyde fell silent, Glasgow has been without a malt whisky distillery. The city's whisky renaissance recently took another step forward with The Clydeside, the second distillery to open there in over 100 years. Owners, Morrison Glasgow Distillers have been synonymous with single malts for generations. The family’s independent bottling business, A.D. Rattray, traces its roots back to 1868. For their latest project, the family worked closely with the late Dr. Jim Swan to refine wood selections and develop a ‘light but fruity spirit’, less grassy than other Lowland malts, instead veering toward a spicier Speysider. The concept was "...to reflect Glasgow’s past in bringing tobacco and spices to the UK." An inaugural distillation took place on the 6th November 2017 and the distillery's first whisky was bottled in 2021.
Like other newcomers (think Lochlea, Raasay or The Hearach), Clydeside's presentation is sleek and modern, designed to stand out on the shelves. A nautical theme is evident on the labels, split in half by a horizontal stripe, echoing the Plimsoll line along a ship’s side indicating the maximum depth to which it may be safely immersed when loaded with cargo. The whiskies arrive reasonably priced and it's pleasing to note that they're bottled at a minimum of 46%, without chill filtration.
The Stobcross is named after a historic cross which once marked the route to Dumbarton Rock. The whisky is matured in a combination of Bourbon and Sherry casks. It's a fresh, lively style with floral notes, tropical tones, orchard fruits and hints of white pepper.
Other reviews... The Stobcross is obviously youthful, and it’s light, fruity and uniformly enjoyable, but to expect anything more than this would be unreasonable – it’s the first output from a completely new distillery. The flavour components that I’m finding show it’s got the makings of really interesting whisky – the tobacco whiffs in particular, but it does, like Wally said when we were chatting about it recently, feel like it could have benefitted with a little bit longer in the cask if only to develop the hints of flavours that always seem to be at arms reach. You want to grab hold of them and give them a good scrutinising, but they remain elusive, distant and frustratingly fleeting. A good opening gambit however and, with more time spent in the casks to develop the interesting flavour signatures, there’s no doubt the spirit flowing from the Clydeside Distillery will deliver the experience hinted at in the Stobcross. There’s a lot to be excited about and, with new and re-established distilleries popping up each year, Clydeside is perfectly positioned to become a prominent presence in what’s becoming Glasgow’s 21st century industrial revolution. - dramface.com

2024 Chateau Montrose Pre-Arrival OfferSaint Estephe, Bordeaux, FRANCE$280. 00Bottle$3360.00 DozenClosure: CorkThis historic large estate, situated atop the Gironde in Saint-Estèphe, is renowned for producing some of Bordeaux's most exceptional and enduring wines. Over the past 15 years it has enjoyed significant investment, resulting in the establishment of a state-of-the-art winery and cellars. Substantial efforts have also being made in the vineyards. When Olivier and Martin Bouygues acquired Château Montrose from the Charmolüe family in 2006, the property boasted 17 hectares of pre-clonal vines dating back to the early 20th century. Through a meticulous massale selection program 80 promising clones, predominantly Cabernet Sauvignon, have been identified for replanting purposes. Similar endeavors are now focused on Merlot, utilizing a plot behind the château acquired from Phélan-Ségur. Additionally, experimental cover crops are being introduced, and cultivation techniques are being adjusted to minimize disturbance to the soil microbiome. The winemaking approach remains traditional, with macerations lasting approximately three weeks and maturation taking place in around 60% new oak barrels.
Other Reviews....
A blend of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot and 3% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Montrose is a serious, muscular effort that numbers among the wines of the vintage. Unwinding in the glass with notes of cassis, burning embers, cigar wrapper and iris, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a lively spine of acidity, rich structuring tannins and a long, penetrating finish. With both the highest proportion of Cabernet Sauvignon recorded at Montrose and a rather low pH of 3.55, it will surely number among the longest lived 2024 Bordeaux.
93-95 points
William Kelley - Wine AdvocateThe 2024 Montrose has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend due to the yields in various parcels. It was picked between September 23 and October 7 and matured in 60% new oak. The well-defined and very able nose demonstrates classicism, fine delineation and a little more florality than the Terrasse III. The palate is medium-bodied with very finely chiselled tannins and a keen line of acidity. This symmetrical Saint-Estèphe is blessed with an elegant, sapid and reassuringly precise finish that the estate seems to have honed in the last few years. It does not have the unbridled ambition of, say, the 2020 Montrose, but it is exceptionally well crafted and will become a fine Saint-Estèphe. Drink 2032-2058.
94-96 points
Neal Martin - VinousThe 2024 Montrose exudes Cabernet Sauvignon character in its aromatic savoriness and tannic structure. In fact, the 2024 has the most Cabernet Sauvignon ever. Tightly wound today, the 2024 impresses with its energy and focus. There's a bit less mid-palate and overall heft than most years, as well as a brighter fruit profile. Floral, spice and mineral overtones lend brightness throughout. The 2024 is a super-classic, nervy Montrose that will need a number of years to be at its most expressive. Aging is projected to be 18 months, with 60% new oak. Drink 2034-2064.
94-96 points
Antonio Galloni - VinousThis shows finesse and elegance as well as plenty of subtle red currant and blackcurrant character. Medium-bodied with refinement and length. Tender, vivid and pure. Extremely well done in a difficult year. 80% cabernet sauvignon, 17% merlot and 3% cabernet franc.
96-97 points
James SucklingThe 2024 Château Montrose is on another level and clearly one of the wines of the vintage. Based on 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 17% Merlot, and 3% Cabernet Franc, it's aging in 60% new barrels. Gorgeous notes of cassis, violets, graphite, and smoky tobacco all emerge from the glass. Medium to full-bodied, it has remarkable purity, fine yet building tannins, and a great finish. Coming in at 13% alcohol with a pH of 3.5, this estate continues to deliver First Growth quality year after year.

2024 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pre-Arrival OfferPauillac, Bordeaux, FRANCE$799. 00Bottle$9588.00 DozenClosure: CorkChateau Mouton Rothschild holds a unique place in the history of Bordeaux, being the only property to have its ranking changed since the introduction of the 1855 Classification. Originally listed as a Second Growth, through the tireless efforts of Baron Philippe Rothschild to make a wine he truly believed could match the best in the world, the property was upgraded to First Growth in June 1973. Known as the most flamboyant of the First Growth wines, Mouton Rothschild shows the rich and exotic side of Pauillac. Plantings on the 75 hectare property are a mix of 80% Cabernet Sauvignon, 16% Merlot, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 1% Petit Verdot.
Other Reviews....
Harvested between September 23 and October 5, the 2024 Mouton Rothschild is a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot that attained 12.9% alcohol. Offering up aromas of crème de cassis, cigar wrapper and pencil shavings, it's medium to full-bodied, dense and layered, with a muscular, monolithic style built around austere, chalky tannins. Somewhat reminiscent of the estate's 2001 vintage (which is just coming around today at age 24), this structured, youthfully angular Mouton will require patience.
91-93 points
William Kelley - Wine AdvocateThe 2024 Mouton Rothschild, which has a little more Cabernet Sauvignon in the blend, was picked between September 23 and October 5 and aged for 18 months in 100% new oak. This has an understated bouquet with blackberry, cedar and graphite scents that take their time to unfold. The nose possesses very fine delineation though the oak is a little more prominent at the moment. The palate is medium-bodied and quite linear in style with fine tannins. A less flamboyant Mouton Rothschild in keeping with the style of the vintage, the 2024 discretely gains depth towards the finish and reveals a dash of white pepper on the aftertaste. Classy, very classy. Drink 2031-2059.
94-96 points
Neal Martin - VinousThis shows plenty of drive with dusty and creamy tannins that run the length of the wine and builds at the end. It’s medium-bodied showing a focus and energy. Dark currants and flowers flavor. This really has length and it has the depth to improve with age. 93% cabernet sauvignon and 7% merlot.
97-98 points
James SucklingOne of the wines of the vintage, if not the wine of the vintage, the 2024 Château Mouton Rothschild checks in as a blend of 93% Cabernet Sauvignon and 7% Merlot, hitting 12.9% alcohol and a pH of 3.71, that's resting in 100% new barrels. It sports a dense purple hue as well as absolutely rocking aromatics of blackcurrants, freshly sharpened pencils, graphite, and smoked tobacco. Medium to full-bodied on the palate, it has a layered, opulent mouthfeel, velvety tannins, ample mid-palate depth, and a great finish. It's an incredible achievement in the vintage that will need just 4-6 years of bottle age and have a broad, lengthy drinking window. Hats off to technical director Jean-Emmanuel Danjoy and the entire Mouton team.

2020 Torbreck The Forebear Shiraz Magnum (1500ml)Barossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA$1850. 00Bottle$22200.00 DozenCellar: Drink now - 40 Years (2025-2065)ABV: 15.5%Closure: CorkBy any measure a mind blowing example of Barossa Shiraz.
The second release of this new flagship addition to the Torbreck portfolio, the Forebear is a single vineyard Shiraz that dates back to the 1850’s and pays homage to generations of Barossa vignerons. Maturation takes place in new French oak barriques for a period of 24 months.
Super dense inky black core with an equally deep dark red black hue. Wafting from the glass with extraordinary force are potent aromas of dark plum, liquorice and blackberry which are complimented by some vanillin cedar, earthy fennel, subtle dark chocolate, leather and spice notes. Exceptionally powerful and intense yet showing more refinement and freshness than the Laird, ultra rich dark plum, blackberry, liquorice, blueberry and dark chocolate flavours coat the palate with a tidal wave like energy. Extending across the back half are spicy vanillin cedar, earthy fennel, delicate mocha and pepper elements. Opulently textured and dense yet highly finessed and seamless it possesses beautifully polished, tightly structured tannins. Concludes with stratospheric length. Hold onto your hats when you drink this!
Drink over the next 10-40 years.
Alc. 15.5%Other Reviews....
The 2020 The Forebear is sourced from the oldest plantings in the Hillside Vineyard in Lyndoch—12 rows planted in the early 1850s. For this tasting, the wine has been open now for three hours, and yet it needs more in the way of oxygen than what it currently has. The wine remains aromatically closed, with notions of black fruit, exotic spice, charry oak and forest floor. This has peat, old leather, jarrah and black cherries in profusion. The palate is shaped by intense graphite tannins, which feel closely knit and exclusively the property of old vines; they are silty and settle in the mouth—if you need a visual—like watching a pint of Guinness settle in the glass. A monumental wine, it needs space and quiet to be able to absorb the layers of complexity and undulating waves of flavor through the finish. 15.5% alcohol, sealed under natural cork and wax. Drink 2025-2040.

Erin Larkin – Robert Parker’s The Wine AdvocateComplex aromas of blackberry compote, roasted coffee beans, iodine, graphite, olive tapenade, dark chocolate, blood plums and baking spices. The palate has a deep, luscious mouthfeel with firmly framed tannins that lead into a viscous and textural finish. So much concentration and old-vine character that is built for the ages. Exceptional. Made from vines planted in 1850s on one acre in Lyndoch. Drink or hold.

2024 Chateau Grand Village Blanc Pre-Arrival OfferBordeaux, FRANCE$59. 99Bottle$719.88 DozenClosure: CorkGiven they are under the same ownership of the Guinaudau family, Chateau Grand Village is often referred to as Chateau Lafleur’s second vineyard. The estate has been owned by the Guinaudau’s relatives for hundreds of years, however it was not until the year 2000 that they began to produce wine themselves from the property. Situated on the edge of the Fronsac region and classified as Bordeaux Superieur, the vineyard is planted to 79% Merlot and 21% Bouchets (Cabernet Franc). The terroir is similar to Saint Emilion with its mix of calcisol going down a foot or so to a bedrock mostly made up of asteria limestone. At Grand Village, they practice many of the same techniques employed at Lafleur, including pruning and de-budding adapted to each vine plant, crop thinning in summer and de-leafing. The grapes are picked by hand, followed by very careful sorting and selection. Grand Village also produces a white wine from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (85%) and Semillon (15%), from a 5 acre plot.
Other Reviews....
The 2024 Grand Village Blanc was picked from September 5 to 11. This has a vivacious bouquet with lime flower, honeysuckle and light wild peach notes that are beautifully defined. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a lightly spiced opening. It is delineated with just a dab of orange rind on the finish. The 2024 is irresistible. Drink 2027-2037.

James SucklingScheduled to be bottled in June (tasted out of tank), the 2024 Grand Village (Lafleur) Blanc has a bright, racy, mineral-driven style in its crushed citrus, lime, chalk, and sappy, minty herb-driven aromatics. It's medium-bodied, has a vibrant spine of acidity, and outstanding length.

2024 Chateau Beau-Sejour Becot Pre-Arrival OfferSaint Emilion, Bordeaux, FRANCE$130. 00Bottle$1560.00 DozenClosure: CorkOther Reviews....
A blend of 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Beau-Séjour Bécot was picked in late September. Clusters were open rather than compact, lessening botrytis pressure, making it easier to wait to attain full maturity. Offering up aromas of dark berries, violets, rose petals and spices, it's medium to full-bodied, polished and layered, with beautifully refined tannin, integrated acidity and a long, aromatic finish. Once again, this impeccably managed estate has delivered a terrific performance in challenging conditions.
93-95 points
William Kelley - Wine AdvocateThe 2024 Beau-Séjour Bécot is deep, vivid and wonderfully alive. Dynamic and explosive, with striking inner perfume, Beau-Séjour Bécot is hauntingly beautiful. Blue/purplish fruit, lavender, menthol, licorice and rose petal soar out of the glass. Silky, refined tannins add to the wine's finesse. The increase of Cabernet Franc in the blend has added aromatic depth and textural elegance. There's a feeling of transparency here that is impossible to miss. Beau-Séjour Bécot has grown into one of the most distinctive wines in Bordeaux. Simply put, the 2024 is magnificent. That's all there is to it. Élevage is 55% in new oak, 15% in once-used barrels and the rest in 20HL casks. Tasted two times. Drink 2034-2054.

Antonio Galloni - VinousA wine with very bright and al-dente fruit. Aromas and flavors of redcurrants and minerals with lavender and chalk. Medium to full body and a solid core of tannins integrated with the dark fruit. Toned-muscle quality to the tannins. Fresh and vibrant at the end. Pure fruit. Energy. 77% merlot and 23% cabernet franc.
96-97 points
James SucklingThe 2024 Château Beau-Séjour Bécot is 78% Merlot and 22% Cabernet Franc, aging in 55% new oak with a small part in foudre. Ripe black cherries, leafy herbs, damp earth, and crushed stone notes define the aromatics, and this beauty hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, an ultra-fine mouthfeel, gorgeous tannins, and a great finish. This is brilliant, and I'd put it up with the crème de la crème of the vintage, especially in this elegant, finesse-driven style. Tasted twice with consistent results.
93-95 points
Jeb DunnuckGorgeous fragrance, really quite deep and vivid, almost an opulence to the perfumed nose. Generous and filling, smooth, silky, round and so vibrant. Juicy and lifted but still with structure - this has acidity, a cool freshness, super fine silky tannins and a soft push from start to finish. Feels super classic and classy, refined and elegant with cool blue fruit and lots of saltiness, but so distinguished. You really feel the limestone in the glass. Still serious, you feel the Cabernet spiciness but you don't get the impression they struggled with ripeness at all. A great glass. Sappy, fruity, clean and salty. A true wine of place. A yield of 32hl/ha, 3.40pH. Drink 2032-2046.

The 2024 Couhins Blanc is a regal, elegant wine. Readers who want to enjoy a world-class dry white that is still affordable will delight in this gorgeous, sculpted offering from Couhins. Slate, chalk, mint and white pepper drive through a core of citrus-inflected fruit. Couhins Blanc is one of the finest dry whites of the year. If recent past vintages are any indication, it should also be a steal. Drink 2026-2032.

2024 Chateau Les Carmes Haut Brion Pre-Arrival OfferSaint Emilion, Bordeaux, FRANCE$199. 00Bottle$2388.00 DozenClosure: CorkOther Reviews....
One of the most impressive wines of the vintage, the 2024 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is a striking effort that sets itself apart with seamless integration, even at this early stage, and a strong sense of identity. Poised, precise and unmistakably singular, it opens in the glass with a perfumed bouquet of iris, violet, dark berries, cherries, vine smoke and gentian. Medium to full-bodied, supple and notably fleshy for the vintage, it’s layered and textural, with a sappy, enveloping core of pure, vibrant fruit framed by finely grained, velvety tannins, culminating in a long, precise and gently stemmy finish. This is one of the rare wines of the vintage where sappiness is expressed with such finesse and charm, thanks in no small part to meticulous vineyard work and severe sorting in the winery. The blend is composed of 48% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon and 23% Merlot, and it's maturing in a combination of 70% new oak, 19% foudres and 11% amphorae. Drink 2026-2044.
93-96 points
Yohan Castaing - Wine AdvocateSeamless and silky in the glass, with superb balance, the 2024 Les Carmes Haut-Brion is one of the wines of the vintage. All the elements are so well balanced, always a sign of a superior vintage at this address. Floral notes, spice, leather and mocha run through a core of layered, beautifully persistent dark red fruit. Harvest took place between September 17 and 25, during one of the rare windows with little rain. As always, Les Carmes is done with a high percentage of stems (52%), specifically 100% for the Cabernet Franc, 50% for the Merlot and 20% for the Cabernet Sauvignon. Aging is 70% new oak barrels, 19% 18HL foudre and 11% amphora. New oak is already very nicely integrated, another sign of a superb vintage. The 2024 is a brilliant effort by the team led by Technical Director Olivier Pouthier. Drink 2034-2054.

Antonio Galloni - VinousThis is always an idiosyncratic wine. This year it’s stunning, with a unique floral aspect and excellent depth of pure blue fruit, mulberries, dried herbs and white pepper. So juicy and mouthwatering on the palate, with a medium to full body and fine tannins. There is a crystalized mouthfeel, but the tannins are fresh and well knit. This is already delicious, which indicates its superb balance. 48% cabernet franc, 29% cabernet sauvignon and 23% merlot.
97-98 points
James SucklingThe 2024 Château Carmes Haut-Brion comes from 7.8 hectares of vines in the heart of Pessac and is 48% Cabernet Franc, 29% Cabernet Sauvignon, and the balance 23% Merlot that was vinified with 52% whole clusters and will spend two years in 70% new barrels as well as smaller portions in vats and amphora. It's one of the darker-hued wines in the vintage and has a terrific nose of ripe black fruits, smoky earth, violets, crushed stone, and hints of lead pencil. It's medium to full-bodied, has ultra-fine tannins, a layered, seamless mouthfeel, and a great finish. I think it's clearly one of the top wines in the vintage.

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot, 5% Petit Verdot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the 2024 Domaine de Chevalier reveals a spicy, brooding bouquet of oak, dark berries and gentian. Medium to full-bodied, juicy and round, it's firm and has an assertive tannic frame, concluding with a somewhat chewy finish. The 2024 D'Issan wafts from the glass with attractive aromas of cassis, burning embers, pipe tobacco and violets. Medium-bodied, pillowy and lively, with a sweet core of fruit framed by powdery tannins, it's an elegant, fine-boned Margaux that will offer a broad drinking window.
89-91 points
William Kelley - Wine AdvocateThe 2024 d'Issan is pretty closed in on itself. Issan is usually a showier wine at this stage, but the 2024 is decidedly virile, almost somber in feel. Floral, spice and earthy notes open with some coaxing, and yet the Grand Vin is only showing a fraction of what it has to offer. I do admire its strong character, however. Whole berries are fermented here before a maturation period of fourteen months in an evenly divided mix of French and American oak. The colour here is a deep magenta, while the nose exhibits notes of warm, dusty roads, black cherries, bay leaves, ripe plums and dark chocolate. This is a silky, finely rendered Shiraz, with a supple texture and very good length. The palate sees those bright, black cherries really come to the fore while there is a fine line of acidity running the length. Creamy like textural feel. Excellent concentration with a long beautifully fleshed finish.

2010 A.D. Rattray Cask Collection Craigellachie 14 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$159. 99Bottle$1919.88 DozenABV: 57.1%Around 14 years old seems to be a good age for Craigellachie, a fact confirmed by the official release 13 year old which remains the distillery's leading line. Long fermentations are responsible for a fragrant, fruity aspect in the distillate, giving it a tropical and slightly floral edge that's most noticeable in mature examples. In this 14 year old from Rattray, tradition and heritage meet experimentation and modernity via an “old-style” spirit drawn from an x Bourbon barrel acquired back in 2010. It's been given an extra layer of complexity through finishing in a first-fill Burgundy red wine cask. Matching casks with secondary woods is a continual learning process. Here the bottlers say the spirit has gained appreciable notes of Pinot Noir, complementing Craigellachie's characteristically full-bodied base. Cask No.18 yielded 296 bottles at 57.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Notes from the bottlers... Colour: Nectarine gold. Nose: Fresh iris, blackcurrant jam and apricot toasted oat crumble. Palate: Charred peach, dried cranberry and rose petal jelly. Finish: Spiced berry compote with a sprinkling of toasted pine nut.
- Ardnamurchan AD/ Sherry Cask Release 2024 Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 50%
The importer tells us that these Ardnamurchan Sherry Cask Releases have a slightly different barrel makeup each time. The distillery is offering them annually to differentiate them from previous versions - hence '2024' in the title. Likely more mature stock is added each vintage, and no doubt their skills in blending the final whisky are honed as the liquid matures. The much-anticipated second edition has been bottled from a parcel of 15 unpeated ex-sherry Hogsheads and 10 peated ex-sherry casks filled in 2018 and 2019, including nineteen Oloroso butts and two PX butts. The deep mahogany colour shows their influence which comes through as a wonderful medley of red fruits, bonfire smoke, brine and dense nutty sherry. It will leave you wondering how a young whisky can taste so 'old'. This West Highland gem is becoming preferred over sherried Islays for many peat heads. The only question is, will Ardnamurchan sustain the quality over time? 21000 bottles produced. 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... The Sherry Cask Release is once again a success; the sherry is evident but does not overpower the distillery character with smoky fruitiness. The whisky has a lot to offer and shows that a strong sherry influence does not have to lead to sticky sherry bombs, but can produce complex whiskies. Another Ardnamurchan that is extremely enjoyable. - whiskybase.com
Notes from the producers... Nose: Murray mint, bonfire on the beach, salted peanut ice-cream, tomato stalks, Brazil nut, sundried tomatoes, teriyaki beef jerky, relish and tamari. Unctuous. Palate: Tarry rope, bung cloth, smoky bacon, old tractor shed, peanut brittle, sticky spare-ribs. Red plum and cherry, then shifts to chalk cliff and meaty traits above on later half. Finish: Crashing waves, sea-salt, bothy fireplace and cigar shop.

2013 A.D. Rattray Cask Collection Glen Moray 10 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 64.3%Rattray contend that few makes are more amenable to finishing than Glen Moray. Its soft, fruity elegance matches well to a great variety of cask types. Sauternes wood, in particular, enhances the inherent sweetness of the spirit, highlights the abundant citric notes and peppers it all with a gentle spice. Starting life in a Bourbon hogshead before been transferred to a first-fill Sauternes Barrique for over two years, cask No.892 had an outturn of 264 bottles at a potent ABV of 64.3%. Yet, despite the extreme alcohol, tasters have stated, "Keep your hands off the water, this Glen Moray can also be enjoyed at cask strength." Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... Nose: Amazingly smooth with flattering fruit aromas and a complementary honey sweetness. Apricot cream, peach, walnuts with summer honey. Behind this I find dark malt biscuits, delicate vanilla and a hint of caramel. Palate: The sweetness of the Sauternes hits you hard here. Apricot jam, ripe mandarins, orange zest, Jaffa biscuits, golden syrup. Then the alcohol can no longer hide, a slight spiciness of ginger and cinnamon emerges. - whiskybase.com
Notes from the bottlers... Colour: Deep amber. Nose: Honey poached apricot, vintage marmalade and butterscotch sauce. Palate: Caramelised pear, Curaçao orange and spiced gingerbread loaf. Finish: Indulgent toffee apple interspersed with lively cinnamon and clove.

Kilchoman Sauternes Cask Matured 2024 Release Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Islay, SCOTLAND$189. 99Bottle$2279.88 DozenABV: 50%After a six year absence, Kilchoman's Sauternes matured expression is back, this time boasting a full-term maturation instead of a five month finish. Founder, Anthony Wills selected a combination of fresh and refill Sauternes barriques (22% vs 78%) from two separate years, the youngest being 2018. The result is not too dissimilar to the last version, with flashes of dried apricots and peaches detectable through the savoury, earthy peat reek. A bit of a sweetie at mid palate where the oils thicken until typical Kilchoman peat overtakes, ash and pepper in tow, with an unexpectedly, dry chewy finish that shows some wet stone minerality. 50% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... The nose thrills with gooseberry, honeysuckle, kiwi, linseed oil, passion fruit, lemon sorbet sprinkled with sea salt, and the caramelized meringue peaks of a baked Alaska. It has a slightly waxy mouthfeel with lush summer fruits from the sauternes cask showing Golden Delicious apple, banana, apricot, star fruit, and honey, with a late arrival of peat smoke. Water polishes the fruit notes but unleashes more smoke. 93 points - whiskyadvocate.com

2022 Yalumba The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon ShirazBarossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA$59. 99Bottle$719.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 15 Years (2025-2040)ABV: 14.5%Closure: CorkA classic blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz first produced in 1962, Yalumba’s Signature pays homage each vintage to an individual who has made a significant contribution to the culture and traditions of Yalumba. The 2022 vintage’s signatory is Yalumba’s Executive Director of Sales for Australia & New Zealand, Paul Midolo. This year’s release marks the 51st vintage of Yalumba The Signature.
From vines with an average age of 49 years the 2021 Signature is a blend of 51% Cabernet Sauvignon and 49% Shiraz with maturation taking place in a combination of French barriques and Hungarian hogsheads (21% of which was new oak) for a period of 18 months.Deep and powerful yet finessed, this is Yalumba Signature at it’s finest.
Inky black heart with a deep dark purple black tinged hue. Unfurling from the glass in what is a wonderful show of both refinement and intensity is a mix of red to black currant, liquorice and mulberry scents trailed by some vanillin cedar, tobacco, earth and faint bay leaf notes. Rich red plum, red to black currant, liquorice and mulberry fruits flow eloquently across the medium to full bodied palate. Piquing further interest and complexity are spicy vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco, earthy dark chocolate and bay leaf accents. Deep and powerful yet finessed it has a sturdy fine grained tannin structure that bodes well for longer term cellaring. Finishes very long, sophisticated and elegant.
Drink over the next 10-15 years.

Yalumba's famous Signature cabernet sauvignon and shiraz blend has a strong pedigree when it comes to cellaring and the 2022 release will certainly carry on long into the future. The fruit density and purity here are impressive. Blackberry, doris plum and black cherry tones, their flow elegant and graceful across the palate with hints of spice, cedar, tobacco, pencil shavings, roasting meats, dried herbs and olive tapenade. Fine-grained tannins are in abundance and there is an extended finish that rolls on and on. It's a super release. Drink by 2054.

Dave Brookes – James Halliday’s Australian Wine Companion - Marionette Pineapple Liqueur (500ml)AUSTRALIA$61. 99Bottle$743.88 DozenABV: 25%
Marionette scoured sunny Queensland for the sweetest pineapples they could find and ended up in Mareeba. There they discovered perfect baby pineapples at the family-owned Piñata farms, picked small for extra sweetness. The resulting liqueur offers bright green pineapple skins on the nose, with a palate of fresh pineapple acid and a punch of bold true fruit flavour. The skins add a green clove spice, with a finish of tropical fruit warmth. Enjoy in a Jungle Bird, Rum Old Fashioned, or Hotel National Special. 25% Alc./Vol.

2020 Mr Riggs The Chap Shiraz Cabernet SauvignonSouth Australia, AUSTRALIA$99. 99Bottle$1199.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2025-2033)ABV: 14.5%Closure: Diam CorkRich, concentrated and powerful with a long, refined finish.
Personally tailored by Mr Riggs this high end offering comes appropriately dressed in a dark blue bound presentation box that even smells like a new suit! Fruit is sourced from Ben’s own Piebald Gully vineyard in McLaren Vale whilst the Coonawarra Cabernet component comes from Weatherall vineyards. A blend of 68% Shiraz and 32% Cabernet Sauvignon maturation took place in a mixture of French (80%) and American (20%) oak, of which 35% was new, for a period of 22 months.
Dense midnight black core with a deep dark red black hue. Engulfing aromas of blackberry, liquorice and blackcurrant combine with vanillin cedar, subtle tobacco, earthy dark chocolate and spice notes. Making a rich, velvety entrance onto the medium to full bodied palate are concentrated blackberry, liquorice, blackcurrant and dark chocolate flavours. Exhibiting magnificent power and depth, notions of vanillin cedar, earth, delicate tobacco and spice extend across the back half. Beautifully integrated tannins lend a mild firmness to the long, refined finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

The colour is something akin to a black hole – so deep, opaque and impenetrable. It’s a blend of McLaren Vale shiraz and Coonawarra cabernet sauvignon, and this is just the fifth release from the first in 2012. The McLaren Vale component from the cooler Clarendon subregion brings both elegance and a vibrant middle palate, sweetness and density. The earlier ripening Coonawarra input is all about structure and definition. But this is not a bruising big wine. It is refined and elegantly presented with a brilliance and purity of fruit. Hard to put down now, but cellaring for 20 years would not be a problem.

JamesSuckling.com - Isle of Raasay Dun Cana Sherry Quarter Cask Second Edition Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$199. 99Bottle$2399.88 DozenABV: 52%
Isle of Raasay's second annual Dun Cana release departs from their signature malt, exploring different cask types. For the second edition, peated and unpeated spirit is matured separately in ex-American rye casks, which previously held Woodford Reserve, before a secondary six-month maturation in Pedro Ximénez and oloroso sherry quarter casks. The distillery says the use of the smaller 125-litre casks “accelerates the maturation process” to deepen the resulting flavours of pepper spice, sultanas, vanilla toffee and salty chocolate. The whisky is named for Dùn Cana, the highest point on Raasay, as a tribute to the landscape of the distillery’s home. 52% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... Nose: Initially vanilla, followed by a few nutty aromas, including almonds, hazelnut praline, and pecan pie. Spice, ginger, and cardamom. Palate: Complex, like the nose. A few more fruit-forward notes here, like plums, berries, and peach. Almonds. Bakewell tart. Gingerbread. Finish: Long, as expected, given it is more than 50% ABV. A lingering fruitiness, which works well. Comment: Commendable in its complexity, especially with the way it merges a spicy nuttiness with a softer fruit combination. This has been crafted with skill. - whiskymag.com

2017 Mount Mary Pinot Noir (1500ml)Yarra Valley, Victoria, AUSTRALIA$599. 00Bottle$7188.00 DozenABV: 13%Closure: CorkOther Reviews….
Vines average age 27yo, hand-picked, bunch-sorted on vibrating tables, open-fermented with cultured yeast, 14 days on skins, matured in French barriques (25-30% new). Glorious colour; the bouquet has the complexity you expect from a 20+yo Burgundy with aromas of field and forest floor. The palate is utterly exceptional, with perfect balance and length. The multitude of flavours swirl and dance - red tree fruits, red cherry foremost, plums close behind, thence to field and forest floor, capturing wild raspberry and strawberry. Sam Middleton thinks this will be one of the all-time greats of Mount Mary, and I'm sure he is right. Drink by 2037.

Cape Byron Mac Liqueur Cask Single Malt Australian Whisky (700ml)New South Wales, AUSTRALIA$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 45%Many distillers have explored secondary maturations with casks that have previously held sweet sherry and fortified wines, but not much has been done with liqueurs - let alone nut liqueurs. Now, Cape Byron Distillery is the first in the world to make a Macadamia Liqueur Cask matured Whisky, launching in 2025 with a limited release of 550 bottles. The new experiment is their most broad appeal offering to date. It almost smells like a whisky liqueur as heather honey, light peach, cantaloupe and vanilla greet the nose, matched by one of the softest deliveries ever from this distillery. Some of Cape Byron’s juicy tropical fruit character is retained, leaning towards dried banana or mango. The sweetness detracts a little from the vibrancy, making approachability rather than complexity a strong point. Regardless, if you're after a malt with a soft texture and a sweeter edge, you should find this more than satisfactory. 45% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Notes from the producers... The liqueur has imparted decadent notes of butterscotch, coffee and dark chocolate to season ex-bourbon casks ready for maturing this malt whisky within the subtropical rainforest.

James Halliday – Australian Wine Companion
Jasper Hill’s Emily’s Paddock is mostly shiraz – with a defining splash of cabernet franc. A lot has been made over the years of the “terroir” difference between Jasper Hill Emily’s and Georgia’s, but it’s the cabernet franc that really differentiates them. This is a pearler. It’s a class act on all fronts. It’s rich with perfume, and powerful in the mouth, but then dry and grainy and interesting through the finish. It promises, and then delivers. Blackberry, fresh raspberries, smoky oak, eucalypt, blooms of violet and creamier, more cedary elements too. It doesn’t have any excess alcohol heat and yet it’s alive with flavour and perfume. Blew me away with its beauty.

Nick Stock - JamesSuckling.comGee, they’ve turned out a very good Pinot Noir in 2018.
Strawberries, roses, cinnamon toast and biscuits, a whisper of undergrowth. Medium-bodied, autumnal feel, a little rhubarb, coolness and ‘mineral’ feel, finesse to the acidity and supremely ‘elegant’ feel to the wine, fine graphite tannin, and a wonderfully long and fragrant strawberry and spice finish. Gee, this is a special wine. I’m smitten.
