2009 Jasper Hill Emily's Paddock Shiraz Cabernet Franc
Other Reviews…..
A fragrant blue and black fruit bouquet offset by cedar and sage; the palate reveals restrained power, is tightly wound and full of fine grained tannins, fresh fruits and a seductive earth derived savouriness to the firm and dry finish. Drink 2025.

Jasper Hill’s Emily’s Paddock is mostly shiraz – with a defining splash of cabernet franc. A lot has been made over the years of the “terroir” difference between Jasper Hill Emily’s and Georgia’s, but it’s the cabernet franc that really differentiates them. This is a pearler. It’s a class act on all fronts. It’s rich with perfume, and powerful in the mouth, but then dry and grainy and interesting through the finish. It promises, and then delivers. Blackberry, fresh raspberries, smoky oak, eucalypt, blooms of violet and creamier, more cedary elements too. It doesn’t have any excess alcohol heat and yet it’s alive with flavour and perfume. Blew me away with its beauty.
