Many distillers have explored secondary maturations with casks that have previously held sweet sherry and fortified wines, but not much has been done with liqueurs - let alone nut liqueurs. Cape Byron Distillery is the first in the world to make a Macadamia Liqueur Cask Whisky, launching in 2025 with a limited release of 550 bottles. The new experiemnt is their most approachable whisky to date, with zero peat smoke, a subtle milk chocolate, roasted macadamia character and an apricot marmalade finish. For those looking for a malt with a soft texture and a sweeter edge, this will be a great option. 45% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Notes from the producers... The liqueur has imparted decadent notes of butterscotch, coffee and dark chocolate to season ex-bourbon casks ready for maturing this malt whisky within the subtropical rainforest.
