- 2012 Blackwood's Superior Vintage Dry Gin (700ml)Shetland Islands, SCOTLAND$64. 99Bottle$779.88 DozenABV: 40%
Based in Lerwick, Shetland Islands, Blackwood’s aim is to be the most innovative spirits company in the world. The Shetland Islands, lying at the far North of Scotland off the coast of Norway, have an ancient Viking past. Originally settled by the Norse Vikings, today Shetland is part of Scotland. Its far Northern remoteness has strong associations of quality, purity and modernity. It represents a story and a people that are a mix of Scotland and Scandinavia and their tales of daring deeds. Shetland has been a center for sea trade in the North Atlantic for centuries and today its pristine austere landscape is known for its smooth pure water and local produce as well as its famous ponies! Refreshing and richly aromatic, Blackwood's Vintage Gin is reminiscent of the surrounding North Sea in its natural pale green colour. Its infusion of local handpicked botanicals recreates the essence of Shetland in a bottle.
Made with Summer 2003 Wild Shetland Botanicals [vintage subject to change], natural Ingredients include Angelica Root introduced by the Vikings 800 years ago, Wild Water Mint picked from around the lochs for subtle refreshment, Sea Pink flowers gathered during its brief summer flowering, Juniper Berries from Umbria, Dried Lemon and Orange Peels, Cassia Bark, Liquorice Root, Ground Nutmeg, Cinnamon Bark, Orrisroot & Coriander Seeds. Ideal in a gin & tonic, 60% of taste testers voted Blackwood's Vintage Gin as their #1 choice in blind taste tests and 80% placed it in their top two, against Gordon's, Tanqueray, Plymouth and Bombay Sapphire. The producers claim Blackwood's to be a more balanced gin for contemporary tastes and so luscious it can be drunk neat!
Tasting note: Clear. Sweet, delicately floral, ripe citrus and juniper berry aromas follows through to a round, glycerous medium-bodied palate with even juniper, citrus peel, pastry dough, and mineral flavors. Finishes with a dry, somewhat lean, talc, powdered sugar, white pepper, lemon rind, and mineral water fade. A understated style with a nice interplay of subtle botanicals and minerals. 40% Alc./Vol.

Blackwood's Superior Vintage Dry Gin is a premium small-batch gin that captures the essence of the Shetland Islands, offering a refined and crisp taste experience. Distilled with a blend of 14 botanicals, including locally foraged herbs and sea buckthorn, this gin delivers a perfect balance of bright citrus, delicate floral notes, and a subtle, briny complexity that reflects its coastal origins. The smooth finish is both refreshing and aromatic, making it an exceptional choice for classic cocktails or sipped neat. - Blackwoods Superior Limited Edition Vintage 60% Gin (700ml)Lerwick, SCOTLAND$99. 99Bottle$1199.88 DozenABV: 60%
Blackwood was founded in July 2002 with the aim of building Shetland’s first Scotch whisky distillery.
However, as reported by The Gin Blog, "...in May 2008, the company went into administration, with a new company, Catfirth Ltd, being established to continue the business. It’s difficult to separate fact from rumour (sometimes malicious) about what happened to date, the plans going forward or the distillery and it’s producers- but suffice to say the gin was born from this enormous distillery fiasco".
The firm now distills its gin on the Scottish mainland but still buys the wild botanicals from crofters who harvest them on Shetland.
This special high proof bottling was made with Summer 2007 Wild Shetland Botanicals. Natural Ingredients include Angelica Root introduced by the Vikings 800 years ago, Wild Water Mint picked from around the lochs for subtle refreshment, Sea Pink flowers gathered during its brief summer flowering, Juniper Berries from Umbria, Dried Lemon and Orange Peels, Cassia Bark, Liquorice Root, Ground Nutmeg, Cinnamon Bark, Orrisroot & Coriander Seeds.

Blind Tiger Organic Shiraz Gin (700ml)South Australia, AUSTRALIA$69. 99Bottle$839.88 DozenABV: 38.2%A second Australian Gin from a company better known for world class brandies - Angoves. Made using organically grown McLaren Vale Shiraz, half of the harvest was steeped in gin for a week in order to extract colour aroma and fruit sweetness. The other half was fermented for three days (following time honoured fortified wine techniques) then stopped by adding Blind Tiger Gin and macerated for another two days. Batches were pressed and blended. Nothing else was added. The resulting gin retains the juniper, spice and citrus lift of the original Blind Tiger Gin, only married with an unctuous red berry infusion. It's sweetness is balanced against the botanicals making it a novel and delicious alternative to traditional sloe styles. The relatively high ABV adds weight to the mouthfeel. If you're curious about the name, in the 1920’s Prohibition Era a “Blind Tiger” was an establishment known to illegally sell alcohol. 38.2 % Alc./Vol. Limited edition.

Blind Tiger Organic London Dry Gin (700ml)South Australia, AUSTRALIA$69. 99Bottle$839.88 DozenABV: 42.7%An Australian gin from a company better known for world class brandies - Angoves. Made using hand harvested, organically grown botanicals including juniper berries, coriander root, angelica root and summer savory, all distilled together in a traditional small still to create an aromatic infusion in organic wheat spirit. As of 2023, this gin sports a new recipe and the label now states "London Dry". An increase in the citrus component provides more lift on the nose and palate. The aromas are pure and true to style with juniper, citrus peel, white pepper and a slightly nutty character following in a medium bodied, creamy delivery, echoing the bouquet and building spicy warmth as it goes. Coriander seed, pepper and tangy peel round off a fresh, lip smacking finish, with piney juniper and more citrus oils in tow. If you're curious about the name, in the 1920’s Prohibition Era a “Blind Tiger” was an establishment known to illegally sell alcohol. Awarded a silver medal at the New York World Wine & Spirits Competition. 42.7% Alc./Vol.
First batch tasted 2015... Clear. Opens with restrained, drier styled aromas of juniper, lemonade and hints of blackpepper. Light and soft entry builds towards a juniper, citrus peel, coriander seed and pepper accented finish. Ends medium long, with spices balancing the whole and carrying the aftertaste. 88 points

Blind Tiger Imperial Secrets Gin (500ml)BELGIUMReduced from $89.99$64. 99Bottle$779.88 DozenABV: 45%They're known as "the Bonnie and Clyde of the Belgian spirits industry", but the only thing Sophie Gheysens and Thomas Baert will point at you is a glass of their beloved gin. Their reputation references the first spirit they released on the burgeoning Belgian gin market in 2014: Labelled 'Bonnie & Clyde' it was limited to just 500 units and became one of the most sought after spirits in the country. Following that promising start, Thomas and Sophie have developed a new gin label: 'Blind Tiger'.
The "Imperial Secrets" expression features three black teas: Assam, Cashmere and Yunnan. Other botanicals include juniper, coriander seeds, grains of paradise, angelica root, iris root, lemon peel, bitter almond and lemon grass. The tea notes in this gin are reportedly quite salient, with spices adding warmth and vibrancy. 45% Alc./Vol. Other reviews.... 5 Stars - diffordsguide.com -

Bloom Gin (700ml)London, UNITED KINGDOM$79. 99Bottle$959.88 DozenABV: 40%A floral, feminine, New World style Gin, that challenges traditional British convention.
Produced by Britain’s second largest Gin distillery in G & J Greenall, acting as both contract distiller and producer for the likes of Bombay Sapphire and Bulldog Gin. Their household brands include: Greenall’s, Berkley Square and Bloom.
With a series of botanicals verging obscurity, Bloom Gin incorporates honeysuckle, pomelo, coriander, chamomile and a citrus fruit native to South East Asia, nicknamed Chinese Grapefruit. In addition, they add traditional "London Dry" botanicals including juniper, angelica, and cubeb berries.
Awarded a Platinum Medal at the World Spirits Competition in 2010.
Tasting note: Crystal clear. Moderate aromatics tease out a curious amalgam of chamomile tea, dilute grapefruit juice and juniper, gaining a point intensity-wise in the second pass as the grapefruit notes are emphasised along with hints of cinnamon. A creamy entry leads into a dryish, medium bodied profile where juniper takes back seat over elderflower-like flavours to finish mildy peppery, brisk, clean and soft. Intriguing contemporary-styled gin. 40% Alc./Vol.

Bombay Star of Bombay London Dry Gin (700ml)UNITED KINGDOM$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenABV: 47.5%Star of Bombay is the new higher strength, super premium variant of Bombay Sapphire, scheduled for limited annual production.
Master of Botanicals, Ivano Tonutti, has taken Sapphire’s existing signature botanicals – Juniper, Coriander, Lemon Peel, Orris, Angelica, Cubeb Berries, Grains of Paradise, Almonds, Liquorice and Cassia Bark – and elevated them by introducing two new hand-selected botanicals: gently dried Bergamot Orange Peel, sourced from the Calabrian mountains, which lends a hint of spicy citrus, and aromatic Ecuadorian Ambrette Seeds, that give a floral muskiness. All the flavour notes in Star of Bombay are slowly vapour-infused through a copper basket under carefully controlled temperatures. Master Distiller, Nik Fordham, adds, “Star of Bombay possesses an extraordinarily smooth and supple character, making it feel more like an aged spirit in the mouth – which is why it can be drunk neat over ice. That’s quite rare for a gin.” Very smartly packaged in a slim tapered light blue bottle with botanical 'etchings' down each side. 47.5% Alc./Vol. Tasting note: Clear. There's no doubt that alcohol strength plays an important role in flavour delivery. The most exciting taste experiences from spirits usually come from bottlings over 46% ABV. Unfortunately, tax laws in Australia mean that many mainstream spirits are marketed on price first, flavour second.
The temptation for producers to bottle at lower strengths is understandable. They know that their brand will fall into a different tax bracket, so they'll pay less, and ultimately appear more competitively priced to the consumer. The compromise is on flavour. So if you think you've tried Bombay, think again. This 47% bottling is the product everyone else is drinking around the world while we're sipping a second rate parody.

Bombay Sapphire East Vapour Infused Gin (700ml)London, UNITED KINGDOM$79. 99Bottle$959.88 DozenABV: 42%Released in the late 1980's, Bombay Sapphire was the first London Dry to be marketed as a 'super premium' Gin.While many gins before it had taken their flavour from four or five botanicals, most notably, the juniper berry, Bombay Sapphire used no less than ten. At the time, the distilling process also set it apart. Most other gins boiled up the botanicals with the spirit. But with Bombay Sapphire, the spirit was distilled alone. Thus it is in vapour form when it passes through the perforated copper botanicals basket. This process allows each delicate aroma to be absorbed from each respective botanical.
One of the most popular London Dry Gins ever created is now available with the addition of Thai lemongrass and Vietnamese black peppercorns, taking the total of botanicals to a round dozen in this 'East' edition. Bramley & Gage 6 O'clock Gin (700ml)Gloucestershire, UNITED KINGDOM$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenABV: 40%Edward Bramley Kain and Penelope Gage started in the kitchen of their South Devon fruit farm with strawberry, raspberry and blackcurrant liqueurs following a 'maceration' method traditional in France. It was a great opportunity to experiment and with the abundance of sloes in the hedges it wasn't long before Bramley's Sloe Gin made it onto the shelves of local stores. After 10 years of farming soft fruit and making fruit liqueurs, Edward and Penelope sold the farm and moved into a dedicated building with a small bottling line and larger scale facilities.
Now 20 years on son Michael and daughter Felicity run the business, still making the liqueurs in exactly the same way - in small batches giving the freshest flavours possible.
6 O'Clock gin is Bramley and Gage’s latest venture. Inspired by his forefather, Edward Kain (known for restraint in gin consumption but who always looked forward to a 6 'O Clock tipple), Michael Kain carefully selects and balances Juniper with six other botanicals. Orange Peel adds a citrus in delightful harmony with floral Elderflower. The company has a ‘ginspirational’ sideline in the form of a tonic is made with natural quinine (not synthetic) and containing no artificial sweeteners or preservatives.
Tasting note: Crystal clear with a silvery blush. Baked citrus and tumeric. A hint of thyme then the juniper comes to the fore with citrus peel adding freshness. The palate unfolds slowly. Soft and light at first, building with exceptional length towards a concentrated juniper / dried herb surge that reverberates in the mouth. Warming, peppery mouthfeel. Concludes long, dry and warming with juniper, dried herb, peppermint and spice aftertaste showing excellent persistence. An auspicious new release. 43% Alc./ Vol.
Other reviews... Delightful variation on a theme. The traditional characters are there but some fresh citrus and lovely notes of elderflower. Amazingly powerful in the mouth with great depth of flavour. Super and full floral backing. Fresh yet soothing. Full flavoured but beautifully balanced. Long and full flavoured finish where the floral notes are strongly evident.

Brokers 47% London Dry Gin (700ml)Birmingham, London, UNITED KINGDOM$69. 99Bottle$839.88 DozenABV: 47%Broker's Gin was created by Martin and Andy Dawson, two English brothers who saw an opportunity for a new premium brand, and combined seriously good gin with an element of English humour. This light-hearted approach has proved successful and today Brokers is not only distributed all over the world, but has become the gin of choice at No.10 Downing Street and the London Stock Exchange. (The special bottle design with the familiar bowler hat is worn in honour of London stockbrokers, and led to the companies tag line, “Don't Forget Your Hat!”)
The distillery is located near Birmingham, England and is over 200 years old with an underground spring beneath the building providing a source of soft, pure water. There had previously been a brewery on the site, but this was converted to a distillery at a time when gin-making became more profitable than beer-making. Broker's use only traditional pot stills manufactured by John Dore & Co, (recognised as the finest still-maker in the world), rather than column stills. Pot stills better extract maximum flavour from the botanicals. The base for Broker's Gin is triple-distilled pure grain spirit made from English wheat. Flavour is provided by ten natural botanicals, the primary one of which is juniper berries. Other dried botanicals including Coriander seed, Orris root Nutmeg, Cassia bark, Cinnamon, Liquorice, Orange peel, Lemon peel and Angelica root are sourced from all over the world and shipped to the distillery in sacks. The botanicals are steeped (soaked ) in the base spirit in the still for 24 hours. This is the first part of the flavour-infusion process. The still is then fired up for the final, fourth distillation, completing the process.
Amongst many other commendations, Broker’s Gin received a Gold Medal at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition in 2005 and the Platinum Award at the World Beverage Competition in 2006.
Tasting note: Crystal clear. Generous, round and very appealing opening bouquet of lemon sorbet over ripe juniper, hints of pine cone and pencil shavings. More sap like and piney with further air contact; hints of eucalyptus alternate with fresh citrus zest. A great gin sniff. Super clean, wonderfully controlled delivery shows exceptional softness and poise, with a supple, juniper, lemon and herb profile and a pepper accented fade showing solid length. Finish is fresh, zesty, citrussy and moreish. Outstanding. 47% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews...Scents of lemon zest, coriander and orris root. In the mouth, it has the proper level of alcohol for gin, 94 proof; by midpalate, the firmly focused flavor profile features lemon zest and coriander, all buttressed by a buttery, creamy texture. Finishes long, semisweet, tangy and luscious. 47% Alc./Vol.

Notes from the producers....
We’re passionate about the rainforest in our backyard and the incredible native ingredients that grow here in the Northern Rivers, including the Davidson Plum. What better way to add a touch more passion to our signature Davidson Plum Slow Gin, than to steep in locally sourced passion fruit and let time weave its magic. Bright and tangy, expect flavours of plum & passion fruit, raspberry, and citrus.

Brooklyn Gin (700ml)New York State, UNITED STATES$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenABV: 40%Brooklyn Gin is yet another, quality small batch offering from the ever expanding craft distilling movement currently taking place in the States. The grain base is 100% corn sourced from upstate New York. Eleven botanicals are employed, five of which are fresh citrus peels. Much of the production process is done by hand – including the cutting, peeling and pulping of all the citrus fruits and the cracking open of the juniper berries.
Tasting note: Clear / bright appearance. Grainy, new-make like opening whiffs are atypical; shifts to pine sap and herbaceous, mildly peppery notes in the second pass. Light to medium bodied, mildly junipery and gently peppery profile is medium dry, crescendos at the finish and shows good length. Subtle juniper and dried citrus peel notes continue into the warming fade. 40% Alc./Vol. -

Cadenhead's Old Raj Dry Gin (700ml)$115. 00Bottle$1380.00 DozenABV: 55%Closure: Screw Cap"What's so impressive about this breathtaking gin is that from start to finish, the 110 proof acts only as a sublime foundation for the botanicals rather than as a star performer; as delicious and comely as I could ever imagine British gin".- F.Paul Pacault - 5 Stars, The Highest Recommendation.
Cadenhead's Old Raj Dry Gin is one of the most intensely flavoured Gins available on the market today. Gin lovers note, while Old Raj is bottled at 55%, and carries some heat, it is in harmony with the extra flavour that Raj offers. No doubt it will be too much for some.
Tasting note: Distinctive, yet very pale straw coloured tinge. Heavy, penetrating aromas exude out of the glass offering an exotic amalgam of coriander seed, saffron, white pepper, tumeric and clove with some citrus zest notes adding freshness. A rich, clean, oily mouth feel delivers an enormous attack of saffron, coriander seed, aniseed and lemon tart carried by a spicy power wave, with the flavour profile reverberating into an exceptionally long, off-dry aftertaste of indian spices and lemon tart. This extraordinary offering guarantees a stunning Gin experience. 55% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... This is the lower-proof version of the classic Old Raj. Lovely, complex gin bouquet offers aromas of coriander, juniper, anise, orris root, ground pepper, lemon peel, lead pencil, earth and tree bark. Palate entry is creamy, fruity, spicy and minty; midpalate offers layers of botanical complexity over the core juniper taste. Finishes with a wonderful rush of mint and baking spice. Fabulous. Catoctin Creek Watershed Gin (750ml)Virginia, UNITED STATES$110. 00Bottle$1320.00 DozenABV: 46%London Dry with a Virginia accent. A new American gin, made from the same spirit as used for Catoctin's organic rye, which gives it a sweet velvety base. Organically grown botanicals include juniper, coriander, anise, cinnamon, orange peel and five other secret spices. Tasting note: Clear. Unusual new-make profile is hardly definitive as gin with subdued scents of ryvita biscuit, sour dough and white pepper; virtually zero botanicals detected. Significant exposure draws out lemon peel and muted piney juniper. Dryish, moderately peppery mid palate finds the rye base to the fore with botanicals in retreat; Finish is more typically ginny with a liquorice root, light juniper and pepper burst. Concludes crisp, vibrant and long. Atypical yet appealing. 46% Alc./Vol. Other reviews... Clear color. Attractive, fruity, spicy aromas and flavors of fresh baked fruitcake, gingerbread, dried pear, and candied violets with a silky, bright, dry-yet-fruity medium body and a licorice, brown spices, honeyed raisin rye-safflower toast, and floral honey finish. A rich, flavor packed gin for craft cocktails.

We're serious about gin.
Distilleries both small and large from every continent on earth can now lay claim to a Gin. You could be cynical and suggest it's merely to maintain cash flow while more 'serious' barrel aged spirits mature. Gin is easy and cheap. After all, it's just flavoured vodka at the end of the day, right? That line of thinking misrepresents all this spirit can be in the hands of visionaries and fanatics. The freshest botanicals in high quality alcohol result in an exotic amalgam of accents and supporting notes that no white spirit can match. Perfumed complexity and bracing intensity are not the characteristics of every gin we taste - hence, it can't be that easy to achieve. From Navy Strength to organic to sloe gin, browse our range today. A long departure from the once "fuddy-duddy" association of the genre, Vickers, Gordon's and other ubiquitous brands are threatened to be swallowed in a giant yawn by the progressive, quality-savvy new-gin devotee. Trending classifications such as 'New Western' style (juniper evident but not dominant) are gaining prominence as are the use of indigenous botanicals and varied spirit bases, including non-grain. Barrel ageing is also gaining momentum. The vast improvement in quality has resulted in texture rich, neat/sipping friendly spirits. Yet, the traditional English and Dutch styles remain more relevant than ever in honouring the cocktail classics. Learn more today...
