The Champagne Cocktail
Champagne has always been seen as a special drink for special times, and when done up as a cocktail, it just seems to take on additional celebratory qualities. This cocktail first appears in Jerry Thomas's "How To Mix Drinks", which is the oldest known book of cocktail recipes, and is perhaps the only cocktail recipe in that publication which you would find by name in a modern book. The Champagne Cocktail is arguably the easiest cocktail to make, with virtually no additional equipment required.
