2010 Signatory Vintage Orkney (HP) 14 Year Old 100 Proof Edition #30 Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Orkney Islands, SCOTLAND$119. 99Bottle$1439.88 DozenABV: 57.1%A rather old-world sherried HP which one taster describes as "delicious raw Highland Park". Others report that as the bottle empties, the whisky oxidises into a beautiful full-sherried style with some resemblance to Springbank. Consensus suggests a very good buy, especially considering the price/quality ratio, so long as you can tolerate a bit of sulphur. 57.1% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... It took me a while to find the sweet spot with water, as I find it a bit too sharp in terms of alcohol when drunk neat. But at just under 50% I get a wonderfully roasted, herbal sherry whisky with lovely moments of dried fruit and a hint of snuff. Not too intrusive from the cask. A lovely, accompanying but subtle smokiness, especially in the finish. Great value for money. - whiskybase.com

From a 1957 patch in Blewitt Springs. Trott Vineyard. 33% whole bunch.
Very aromatic, ripe raspberry, rosehip, exotic spice, slight liquorice, orange peel. Medium to full-bodied, but bright, but good concentration, raspberry, balanced acidity, fine stony tannin, albeit with some firmness, and excellent length, with something of an amaro tang on the finish and some peanut flavour. Super wine. It’s maybe a little warmer and more breathy than the Charming Man, but gee, it has impact and power. Drink 2025-2034.

Gary Walsh – The Wine Front - That Boutique-y Whisky Company 11 Year Old Tennessee Straight Bourbon Whiskey (700ml)Tennessee, UNITED STATES$159. 99Bottle$1919.88 DozenABV: 45.8%
A release of 254 bottles, That Boutique-y Whisky Company have got hold of another well-aged batch from Tennessee, releasing it in 700ml bottles to join its collection of 'Label Editions'. The Boutique-y gang can't disclose the provenance, but this style is only made by a few producers. They've also spelt whisky without an 'e' - a big clue for bourbon buffs... (It's because the distillery is in Cascade Hollow. It's charcoal mellowed and one of the oldest Tennessee producers - and, no, it's not Jack Daniels!) 45.8% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Notes from the bottlers... Nose: Rich notes of caramelised brown sugar, toasted oak, and creamy vanilla join cinnamon spiced apples, buttery pastry, and gingersnaps. Palate: Caramelised nuts open the way, with rich layers of buttery oak char leading to earthy notes of vanilla and tobacco. Finish: Cigar box spice, a hint of sweet maple syrup, oaken vanilla, and ginger.

Feel the Fruit Tingle pop that bursts onto the tongue; this youngster has some electric energy up its vinous sleeve. Campbell Mattinson - James Halliday’s Australian Wine CompanionOne of Australia’s favourite wines and deservedly so, especially in such a fine vintage. Cracking value, whether in comparison to other top Aussie reds, other fine Coonawarra Cabs, or even in comparison with others in the Wynns range. We first saw this wine from the 1954 vintage. The latest comes from a selection of 25 of their top vineyards. Opaque maroon in colour, this is a classic Coonawarra Cab. Still youthful, it is tight, taut and with coiled power, just waiting for the release by time. Cassis, blackcurrants, chocolate, coffee beans, tobacco leaves and mint all shine with early complexity already evident. The palate is more plums and chocolate, especially cocoa powder notes, with quality oak integration. Showing very fine silky tannins, the wine is also well balanced with serious length. A hint of cinnamon from the flick of oak on the finish too. Well structured, this will sail through fifteen to twenty years in good cellars. A great Coonawarra Cabernet and surely one of the finest of this line, ever released. Drink 2023-2043.

Ken Gargett – WinePilot.comThis is the 66th vintage of this Australian classic. The first of these was made in 1954 and I am honoured to say that I have been fortunate to have tasted every one of these vintages through various verticals to celebrate milestones. The wine has never looked better from this exceptional Coonawarra vintage. It’s classic Coonawarra, medium bodied with delightful regional and varietal characters. Leafy and slightly chalky tannin overlay to the vibrant blackcurrant fruit characters. The tannins are super fine and the oak so well played. Perfumed and alive, this is a wine for extended cellaring if you wish.

The classic red variety from Margaret River, this wine is a deep, shining red. A component is fermented and aged in new French oak puncheons, adding texture and depth to an otherwise lemon-accented and fairly racy wine. Aromatic with lemon blossom and a smidge of hay, lightly spiced, and an even lighter spray of nutty lees across the palate. And, yes, acidity is very much at work here. Drink by 2031.

It will outlive those who cellar it for decades. Drink by 2042.
