De Saint-Gall Le Tradition Champagne Premier CruChampagne, FRANCEReduced from $69.99$59. 99Bottle$719.88 DozenABV: 12.5%Closure: Diam CorkA delightful entry level Champagne with well meshed flavours, an airy feel and refreshingly crisp finish.

A buoyant and fluffy mousse holds well over a pale straw coloured base that has flecks of gold around the edges. A very fine bead showing good persistence. Excellent aromatics with baked bread, citrus and yeast lees leading the way. Subtle toast and almond notes ensue. Well meshed flavours of yeast lees, baked bread and citrus overlay an oily toast and almond back drop. Airy feel with good tension, crisp acidity and a refreshingly savoury aftertaste.

De Saint-Gall is a grower-led Champagne house founded in 1966 and now the largest vineyard owner in the Côte des Blancs, with holdings in both premier and grand cru sites. This is a blend of 70% chardonnay and 30% pinot noir.Light straw-gold colour. Rich nose of bruised pears, honey and butter on toast. A full style, quite weighty with its rich golden fruits and toasty lees development all on show. Great length; there’s ample acidity to keep it driving while the fine mousse ensures both creaminess in texture along with refreshing lift to the dry finish. A complex delight to enjoy and will be equally at home with food as without. (Diam)

2024 Dexter ChardonnayMornington Peninsula, Victoria, AUSTRALIA$54. 99Bottle$659.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 6 Years (2025-2031)ABV: 13%Closure: StelvinRich yet texturally refined with a fresh feel to the long, elegantly creamed finish.
Todd Dexter is probably best known for his work alongside Brian Stonier at Stonier wines where during his 10 year stint as chief winemaker the brand was propelled into Mornington Peninsula’s most famous label. Todd and his wife Debbie purchased a vineyard site in 1987 where they planted their first 1.6 hectares of Chardonnay and Pinot Noir but it wasn’t until the mid 2000’s that the first wine was released under the Dexter label.
Fermented and matured in 500 litre French oak puncheons (20% New, 30% second use, 50% older) with 50% of the blend undergoing malolactic fermentation. Brilliant pale straw colour with subtle highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Elevated white peach and nectarine scents complimented by some dried honey, cashew, biscuity nougat and spice notes drift through the nostrils. Rich yet texturally refined, the mid weighted palate is layered with fleshy white peach, nectarine and cashew flavours. Traces of dried honey, biscuity nougat and spice lie underneath. Brisk acidity lending a fresh feel to the long, elegantly creamed finish.

2022 Domaine des Escaravailles La Ponce RasteauRasteau, Southern Rhone, FRANCE$36. 99Bottle$443.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 5 Years (2025-2030)ABV: 15%Closure: CorkA rich, blockbuster Rasteau that marries opulence with a robust structure.
Rasteau's 880 hectares of vines are planted on marl and red and yellow clay soils over sandstone with rounded stones covering some sectors, which in heatwave vintages act like health insurance against hydric stress. By law, the Grenache component in the dry red blends must be 50% minimum, with Syrah and/or Mourvedre 20% minimum and other grape varieties of the appellation tolerated up to 20%. In 2010 the Rasteau AOC was created allowing the wines to be named after the village, dropping the Cotes-du-Rhone tag and joining the likes of Chateauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas at the pinnacle of the wine hierarchy in the Southern Rhone.
A blend of 80% Grenache and 20% Syrah sourced from vines over 60 years old and 40 years old respectively. The Syrah component is aged in old 225 litre barrels whilst the Grenache is aged in concrete vats for a period of 15 months. Very deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Wafting through the nostrils are potent aromatics of black raspberry, liquorice and ripe black cherry which interact with some herb du Provence, scorched earth and pepper notes. The rich, blockbuster palate delivers a concentrate of black raspberry, black cherry and liquorice fruit that’s super succulent. Ripe chewy tannins firm up the back half with infusions of provincial herbs, scorched earth and pepper lying underneath. Superb power with a long pepper laced finish that ties opulence with a robust feel.

Like the 2021, the 2022 Rasteau Héritage 1924 is all Grenache from the oldest vines on the estate. Aged 9 months in concrete tank, its deeper ruby hue is followed by a rocking perfumed of red and blue fruits, peppery herbs, incense, violets, and subtle spice nuances. With medium-bodied richness, a round, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish, it should shine for a solid 8-10 years if well stored. Located in the north-west sector of Chablis in the village of Maligny, Pierrick Laroche runs this family estate which was established by his father in the 1970s. After getting a degree in oenology from Beaune, Patrick travelled the world, doing various internships to gain experience before returning home to start making wine and take over the family vineyards for himself. In 2010 he ceased selling grapes to the local co-operative and produced his first vintage to great acclaim.
The domain has nearly 12ha of Petit Chablis, classified as such because the limestone tends to be the younger Portlandian rather than the older Kimmeridgian, and as such typically occupies higher sites (Portlandian overlies Kimmeridgian) and has less clay. Pierrick is convinced that his largest parcel of Petit really ought to be classed as Chablis; it makes wine like Chablis and indeed is surrounded by AOC Chablis vines.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a faint greenish tinge around the outskirts and a watery hue. Attractive pear and lime scents laced with wet stone and an oyster shell like minerality drift through the nostrils with ample volume. The grapes are not destemmed, and the natural yeast fermentation is completed in traditional, cement vats before ageing in old, French oak barrels for an average of 40 months.

Double Eagle Very Rare 20 Year Old Bourbon Whiskey (750ml)Kentucky, UNITED STATESReduced from $11,999.00$6999. 00Bottle$83988.00 DozenABV: 50.5%If you collect Michter's or Van Winkles, then this super premium release from the acclaimed Sazerac Company should get your attention. Eagle Rare's twenty year old bourbon, named after America’s national emblem, matures twice as long as the standard Eagle Rare and is aged on the lower floors of Buffalo Trace’s historic Frankfort warehouses, reducing evaporation rates. It comes bottled at 101 proof, a nod, the distillery says, to the original proof of Eagle Rare when it was first released in 1975. At the time of writing, no independent reviews are available, however there is a caveat in BT's own notes stating “it's like nothing you’ve ever tasted.” One can imagine that the stunning presentation bears some correspondence with the quality of the liquid inside. The heavyweight decanter is a high-point for American whiskey, featuring two beautifully-sculpted crystal glass eagles - one inside the bottle and the other outside (used as a stopper). The decanter comes housed in a luxurious box covered in a silver 'feather' pattern with sliding doors. Once opened, they trigger two spotlights installed above and below the decanter. Needless to say, very few bottles are produced, with annual outturns ranging from 200-500 bottles, depending on the release date. An individually-numbered letter of authenticity is included with each bottle. 50.5% Alc./Vol. Collectable.

From colour to taste, this extreme release will likely be too intense for those who appreciate the distillery’s purest forms (Edradour's bourbon cask bottlings would be the better showcase). That leaves all the more for the sherry heads - and there are plenty of us. Andrew Symington's signature flourish places impact before elegance in a whisky matured entirely in first-fill Pedro Ximénez (sweet) sherry butts to mark the distillery's bicentennial. Offering a decadent profile of dried fruits, dark chocolate and toffee at a price that's completely accessible, it will be your fireside companion this winter, a dessert whisky par excellence, or a preferred dram for whenever you feel like spoiling yourself. This style isn't for everyone, but it is a rallying call to fans of sherried malts longing for the bargains of yesteryear. We have one parcel only, just landed at direct-from-the-distillery pricing. 46% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered and natural in colour.
Other reviews... Very sweet wave of PX sherry. Jammy again! Home-made cherry and forest fruit jam. It’s blackcurrants, strawberry, stewed prunes, and raisins galore. The kind of chocolate bonbons with alcoholic cherry creaminess inside. There are baking spices here, but they take a while to break through the fruit salad barricade. There’s that suggestion of Appassimento wine again. The finish is slightly drying. High cocoa content chocolate acerbity. It takes water well, and after a while that softens the experience a bit. Dilute to your own preference; it’ll play along nicely. This is a very well executed whisky. It turns out that if the casks are good and the distillate is robust and hefty enough to stand up to them instead of getting devoured by them, PX casks might be my thing after all. And this isn’t even a gentle finish; it’s full maturation for 10 years. I’m sure you can tell by now that I like it. This whisky, with its style that I actively avoided for the longest time, has won me over completely. It’s going down quicker than most bottles at the moment, and that tells me all I need to know. - dramface.com

1999 Edradour 200th Anniversary 25 Year Old Madeira Cask #901 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$699. 00Bottle$8388.00 DozenABV: 55%Similar to sherry maturations in Spanish oak, finishing whiskies in Portuguese Madeira casks invariably succeeds. However, we believe this edition was full-term matured for 25 years! It's one of a pair of hogsheads for Edradour's 200th Anniversary series that would make a fascinating side by side tasting. All those lovely fortified wine notes should be nicely captured, with one reviewer at whiskybase.com describing it as, "A fascinating and very tasty whisky that is both balanced and complex... Immediately present, full-bodied, very soft, creamy, fudge, balanced sweetness and acidity, spicy honey, shortbread, sweet raisins..." 287 bottles are on offer. 55% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

1995 Edradour 200th Anniversary 30 Year Old Chateauneuf-du-Pape Cask #2110 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1399. 00Bottle$16788.00 DozenABV: 55.1%Limited to just 129 bottles, Cask #2110 ranks as one of the rarest release in Edradour's 200th Anniversary outturn. Together with the Amarone matured 22 year old, it's another malt with a profound red wine-cask influence, this time heralding from France's Southern Rhone Valley. Châteauneuf-du-Pape is considered a top tier appellation in the south, producing full bodied, opulent Grenache based wines that are long-lived. The wine input is evident in the spectacular colour, extending to the profile which is said to be a fantastic combination of plums, prunes, and dark chocolate. 1995 Edradour 200th Anniversary 30 Year Old Sherry Cask Batch No.1 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1399. 00Bottle$16788.00 DozenABV: 56.3%Batch No.1s are more desirable for some, especially collectors, plus this has the added attraction of being a birthday bottling. Drinkers sometimes find that first batches feature the best liquid available at the time, with subsequent batches often not quite stacking up. Whether or not that's true, this is the second oldest release to date in the distillery's long-running Ibisco Decanter series, and no doubt intended to celebrate everything that Andrew Symington adores about extreme sherry-matured malts. The outturn was 1287 bottles from two first-fill oloroso sherry butts. 56.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

1989 Edradour 200th Anniversary 35 Year Old Enigma 2 Sherry Cask #368 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1999. 00Bottle$23988.00 DozenABV: 62.3%Edradour's founder, Andrew Symington made a lot of very astute purchases when he started Signatory Vintage back in 1988. Most of those were aligned with his personal preference for the deepest, darkest sherry bombs money could buy. At the time, he was procuring a bunch of first rate casks for releases down the track. That time has now come. Two venerable whiskies, and arguably the highlights of Edradour’s 200th anniversary collection are Enigma 1 & Enigma 2, representing the inaugural editions in the luxe series. Both are blockbuster malts displaying amazing colour saturation. The latter (Cask #368) spent all its life in a modern concrete warehouse (partly underground with air circulated round it 24 hours a day). These conditions resulted in a lower outturn than Enigma 1, but in a whisky with greater alcoholic strength. 379 bottles were drawn from the first-fill butt, the liquid infused with rich, dark dried fruit, chocolate and coffee flavours. Both gems come suitably packaged in a presentation case accompanied by two crystal cut Glencairn glasses. 62.3% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

1989 Edradour 200th Anniversary 35 Year Old Enigma 1 Sherry Cask #355 Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$1999. 00Bottle$23988.00 DozenABV: 52.6%'Enigma 1', like its sister cask 'Enigma 2', was distilled in 1989 and matured for 35 years in a first-fill Oloroso sherry butt. The two bottlings differ slightly, and are intended to demonstrate the results of contrasting maturation conditions. A damp dunnage warehouse yields less liquid loss but a far greater strength loss. A dry, well-aired concrete warehouse yields a much higher liquid loss but retains a greater alcoholic strength. It is from the former environment that cask #355 emerged in 2025. Bottled at 52.6%, this is perhaps the most quintessential example of the distillery’s traditional sherried house-style and will likely be the most coveted release in the 200th Anniversary collection. 498 bottles were produced, each presented in an elegant wooden presentation box with two crystal glasses. 2018 Signatory Vintage Edradour No.2 Inaugural Release 200th Anniversary 7 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$119. 99Bottle$1439.88 DozenABV: 57.1%"A laudable “inaugural”. Unique and lovely. Well worth the price paid" - dramface.com
This is a bit of a double celebration for Edradour fans and collectors. As the label notes, it's commemorating the 200th Anniversary of the distillery (1825-2025). There are going to be a number of limited editions coming through marking the date, so keep posted. More significantly for collectors, Andrew Symington, the man behind Signatory Vintage and Edradour, has built a second distillery on the Edradour site in order to expand capacity alongside the original "little gem" - hence the name "Edradour #2" for this inaugural release. Distilled in 2018 in new, traditional-style stills and aged in first-fill Oloroso sherry butts, there's been a range of responses online towards the release, however most are positive, deeming it a confident young 'Christmasy' whisky that isn't too dominated by sherry while delivering the "old school" weight and oily texture that Edradour is famous for. Think red fruits, almonds, fruit cake, cinnamon and a light hint of sulphur that needs time to blow off. Many find it significantly benefits from a drop or two of water. At 57.1% Alc./Vol. that's no surprise. The total outturn is unknown. We'd expect it to be aligned with the distillery's other limited editions (usually around 6000 bottles). As a collectable, the direct-import price means just about anyone can take advantage of this opening offer. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews.... Shout it from the rafters: “Young. Age. Statements. Don’t. Matter!” ...It’s a polarizing dram within the [whisky] community. Complaints about astringency and sulfur and plenty of discussion over the heat, sharpness, and youth of this bottle. Personally, I didn’t find any off-notes or sulfur, even off the neck pour. To me it retained the best of Edradour’s uniqueness, and this batch was well-suited to the first-fill sherry butts used for maturation. Especially with water. I’m a firm believer in adding tiny amounts of water, even for lower ABV whiskies. With time and a few drops I believe not only does this dram open up, it sings wonderfully. I’ll stand by my high score. Perhaps other Dramface writers or those in the Whiskyverse will have differing assessments to share in the comments. There may be a “young whisky” bias going on with others, but I’ll never tell anyone else they’re incorrect. This is a realm of opinions and senses. There’s not a wrong one to be found. I trust my own here and I find this to be a cracking young Edradour. There’s also a spicy uniqueness here that keeps it from becoming too much of a “sherry bomb." And for [the price], Signatory Vintage continues to show its deftness on price and appreciation for the wallets of the punting masses. - dramface.com

2013 Edradour Bourbon Cask Matured 11 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Highlands, SCOTLAND$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 60%These unusual ‘deluxe’ all-natural bottlings are now considered 'quintessential' distillery expressions by many, instantly identifiable by the heavy Ibisco decanters they come in. Drawn from a batch of American oak ex-bourbon barrels, this one marks a point of difference to the frequently heavily masked sherried styles. Instead, the distillate is on show, which has been compared in weight and richness to Mortlach. Serge Valentin at whiskyfun.com describes similar releases as "lovely, thick yet bright spirit." (The days when the quality of Edradour was a gamble are definitely over!) Expect notes of coconut, tea biscuits, green apples, nutmeg, cream and honeycomb. The outturn was 1997 bottles at 60% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.
Other reviews... The aroma is intense, typical for aging in ex-bourbon. Notes of peaches and vanilla. The flavor is bright, powerful, and intense, with a strong retronasal effect. The finish is quite long but light, with honey-fruity notes and a touch of spice. The aroma can and should be savoured, but drinking it is even more enjoyable. Watch out, 60ABV is not a joke. But i still did drink it stright and with out water. - whiskybase.com

2014 El Dorado High Ester Blend PM / DHE Cask Strength Guyana Rum (750ml)GUYANA$299. 00Bottle$3588.00 DozenABV: 51.7%Following the series’ inaugural release in 2024 (La Bonne Intention / DHE) comes this single barrel blend of two pot still rums, PM (Port Mourant double wooden pot still ) & DHE (Diamond High Ester from a small John Dore double retort pot still), both aged for 10 years in second-fill Bourbon barrels. According to the company, their high ester rums are marked by intense fruity and floral notes, driven by the concentration of the aromatic compounds that define their signature character. The distillation process involves slow boiling and high reflux in the DHE still, which is said to help retain and extract the high concentration of ethyl acetate produced during the “funky fermentation” process. As a result, the rum achieves ester levels exceeding 1,500 grams per hectolitre.
Beyond the deep mahogany colour, the first thing you notice is the volatility of alcohol. Once the fumes recede the nose gives way to papaya, mango yogurt, ginger warmth and latent vanillas. If you like your rums intense, this comes with a potent, almost incendiary attack of succulent tropical fruits and bracing spices. As your mouth adjusts to the ABV it feels less aggressive.; flavours of ginger biscuits and dry molasses are evident, as is the Bourbon oak input, but overall it's true to the label, capturing a bittersweet fruit-bomb profile that repeatedly brings you back to those funky esters, reminiscent of banana bread and ripe papaya, especially as the finish gains definition after air contact. Not everyone can handle these very natural and exotic styles, but most would agree, they're rare to find, and deliver at least twice as much character than 99% of mainstream market rums. 51.7% Alc./Vol.
Notes from the producers... aromas of green apple, flambéed banana, and subtle notes of clove, cigar, and peat. On the palate, the fruit-forward style showcases notes of ripe tropical fruit, clove, and infused tobacco spice.

A blend of rums from the original Wooden Enmore Coffey still, the original metal Diamond Coffey still, as well as from the Port Mourant Double Wooden Pot Still. Bright burnished copper colour. Opens with rich aromas of roasted nuts, vanilla bean, cafe creme and raw sugar. A creamy entry is followed by a plush, intense, sticky date, creme caramel extravaganza with lively spices adding depth and vibrancy. Creamy vanilla, liquorice bullet finale. Concludes satisfying, warming, long. Luxe mixing rum at a budget price. 40% Alc./Vol.
Other reviews... Having written all the above, what would I recommend? Truth to tell, I’d use this as a high end mixer for sure, and if looking for a premium sipper, just go up to the 15, or blow a hundred for the 21. But as a general all rounder for a lower price, this one is hard to beat – it deserves a place on your shelf for all those visitors to your rooms or houses or apartments who want to try something a bit richer than Bacardi, Appleton V/X, Lamb’s or Mount Gay (those standard staples of the young), but don’t want to bust the bank doing it. - thelonecaner.com

El Dorado 15 Year Old Rum (700ml)GUYANAReduced from $129.99$109. 99Bottle$1319.88 DozenABV: 43%Wow! No wonder this was rated the best rum in the world at the International Wine and Spirit Competition four years running: A superb expression. Easily one of the very best rum buys on our shelves.
El Dorado's somewhat quaint, maritime label belies what is a very sophisticated wood-aged spirit. A go-to rum for anyone in the know, this extra-aged blend which is at least 15 years old, (though some components are much older) delivers the kind of class and complexity you'd expect to pay much, much more for. The distillery combines the most up-to-date equipment with a wealth of traditional expertise, including old-style Demerara pot stills and patent rum and alcohol stills. The last fully operating rectangular wooden Coffey still in the Western world continues to be used for the production of the company's finest spirits. This is certainly one. Serve it to friends who haven't experienced 'good rum.' It sets a high bar and rarely fails to please.
Tasting note: Very deep copper penny colour. Momentary varnish blows off to reveal a stunning amalgam of dried banana and baking spice that's sweet yet fresh; brief exposure adds complexing notes of mango tart, pistachio nut, raisin cake and molasses. Immediately impresses with a superb, plush, silky entry and succulent flavours of grilled mango, moist banana cake and fresh molasses. Excellent sweet / dry balance. Aftertaste resonates with caramel / sticky date pudding, dilute golden syrup and late liquorice bullets in the fade. Super long. A salivating and utterly luxurious dark rum. [43% Alc./Vol. batch tasted]
Other reviews... Attractive, rich copper-amber hue. A complex nose of confectioner's sugar, banana, cedar, and iodine. A silky entry leads to a moderately full-bodied palate of vibrant-yet-refined dry caramel and grilled tropical fruit flavors braced by warm alcohol and firm, smooth oak spice. Somewhat Scotch-like, with subtle peaty overtones. Beautifully proportioned and designed for long contemplative sipping. Winner of "Best Spirit of 2001" Award. International Review of Spirits Award: Platinum Medal 96 points (Superlative) - tastings.com
...ups the age another three years, creating a spirit even darker in color and richer in flavor. Wood comes through stronger on this one, with mint and herb fading into the background. Again it’s the brown sugar body that impresses deeply, with a rich mouthfeel that makes this one easy to sip. The only false note is a touch of harshness on the palate as it first hits the tongue, but the finish is extremely smooth. - drinkhacker.com

2024 Elanto Vineyard Pinot Noir Magnum (1500ml)Mornington Peninsula, Victoria, AUSTRALIA$195. 00Bottle$2340.00 DozenCellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2025-2033)ABV: 14%Closure: CorkRich, supple and expansive with a long peacock’s tail like finish.
Elanto Vineyard is fast becoming one of the most compelling projects on the Mornington Peninsula. Established in 2018 by Elizabeth and Tony Todaro with Sandro Mosele at the helm, the 10.6-hectare Balnarring site is planted at an extraordinary density over 11,000 vines per hectare, four times the regional norm. Yields are kept to just 300-500g per vine, resulting in small, concentrated bunches that carry the depth and power Sandro has long championed. Volcanic red soils, southeast exposure, and the cooling influence of Western Port Bay provide the setting, while meticulous organic farming and uncompromising vineyard detail push the wines into rare territory.
The five Pinot Noir vineyards, Vertex, Ironstone, Chicory, Kilnside, and Basalt, span 6.7 hectares on the upper slopes with basalt-rich soils. The red volcanic soils transition to shallower, stonier terrain mid-slope, producing lower yields, concentrated flavors, and a distinct tannin profile. Each vineyard was harvested and vinified separately, with chilled, destemmed fruit (3-5% whole bunches) undergoing cold soak and natural fermentation in concrete vats. After 25-30 days on skins, the wine was pressed and aged in a mix of new and older French oak barriques for 11 months before blending and bottling.
Dark red core with black toned edges and a red to dark red hue. Perfumed aromas of violet, dark cherry, strawberry and anise soar from the glass trailed by some spicy cedar, forest floor, subtle dried herb and brambly rhubarb like notes. Rich, supplely textured dark cherry, strawberry and anise flavours expand across the palate with a peacock’s tail like power wave. Spicy cedar, rhubarb, forest floor, delicate infusions of dried herbs and bramble are spread across the back half. Seamlessly integrated, velvet smooth tannins and fresh underlying acidity. Finishes super seductive and very long.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

What a beguiling wine – only the second release and showing complexity far beyond its years. It’s certainly youthful and pretty with heady aromas of florals and autumn leaves with flavours of wild strawberries, dark cherries and pips, chinotto, Middle Eastern spices and some poached rhubarb, too. The medium-bodied palate is evenly poised, laden with filigree tannins (lots of them) and energising acidity; oak (25% new) completely integrated. This has depth, some grip, a little amaro bitterness on the finish and, of utmost importance, it will age but it’s oh-so pleasing to drink today. Drink by 2036.

Jane Faulkner – James Halliday’s Australian Wine CompanionThe intensity of fruit here is fantastic, as is the length of the finish, as is the tannin profile. Volcanic red soils, southeast exposure, and the cooling influence of Western Port Bay provide the setting, while meticulous organic farming and uncompromising vineyard detail push the wines into rare territory.
The three Chardonnay vineyards, Verge, Buckshot, and Seawinds, span 4 hectares on the lower slopes, where silt over clay transitions to lighter, gravelly soils rich in buckshot. The cool southerly airflow and soil profile preserve natural acidity and enhance mineral notes. Each vineyard was harvested and vinified separately, with hand-sorted fruit whole-bunch pressed directly into a mix of new and older French oak barriques for natural fermentation. After 10 months in barrel, the wine spent an additional two months in large concrete vats before bottling.
Brilliant pale straw colour with green highlights around the outskirts and a watery hue. Intense white peach, pear, ripe nectarine and dried honey aromas engulf the olfactory senses. Notions of crème brulee, citrusy nougat, cashew, subtle bacon fat and spice then chime in for additional complexity. Rich, concentrated and enveloping, a creamy textural feel is perfectly counterpointed by fresh acidity with mouthfilling white peach, fleshy pear and nectarine fruits melding into a creme brulee, citrusy nougat, delicate cashew and spice back drop. Boasting outstanding power and depth, it has a long expansive finish that displays a Burgundian like refinement.

A terrific follow up to the inaugural release, coming out with more weight and body. Mid-straw gold and bright. Floral and waxy with lemon, spiced stone fruit, brown spices and honeycomb – lots within yet definitely in the savoury spectrum. Fuller bodied, rich, almost al dente with its phenolics and layers of texture via creamy, nutty lees. It’s detailed yet supple, with a succulence thanks to the all-important uplifting acidity. Moreish and compelling. Drink by 2034.

Jane Faulkner – James Halliday’s Australian Wine CompanionThe Elanto vineyard – at Balnarring on the Mornington Peninsula – is 10.6 hectares of 11,111 vines each hectare, which equates to a vineyard made up of 117, 777 individual vines. This is the second release of a chardonnay from this remarkable vineyard. It’s made by Sandro Mosele. 85% of this release went through malo where very little of the 2023 release did.
This is seriously good. The intensity of fruit is the thing, and the associated length, though there’s a keen textural element and just plenty of wow factor besides. Yellow peach, citrus, nougat, honeycomb and lemon blossom notes charge thoughout. There’s a lot of fruit, a deal of acidity, and a sizeable serve of oak, but all work together and all feel commanding. Drink 2027-2032+

Campbell Mattinson – The Wine FrontThe 2024 Balnarring Chardonnay is tighter, brighter and more primary than the 2023 tasted alongside. In the mouth, the wine is svelte and textural, and it shows all the sophistication of the site. The elevated malolactic percentage here contributes to the elevated sense of creaminess in the mouth. It's an excellent wine and will be even better in time. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under Diam. The fruit is handpicked into 10-kilogram baskets. The winery and vineyard are adjacent, and once in the winery, the fruit goes over a sorting table with rollers at the end of the elevator. The fruit is pressed direct to barriques—all French, mainly Sirugue (from the Forêt de Tronçais, in central France)—and fermented wild, with wild malolactic fermentation (5% to 10%). The 2023 Chardonnay wouldn't go through wild malolactic fermentation, but the red eventually did. The wine is taken out of barrel at Christmastime, after which it spends two months in concrete, and then goes to stainless for a further four months. Drink 2025-2039.

Captivatingly rich and concentrated yet refined, this is a superb Mount Barker Cabernet from the outstanding 2023 vintage.
Dense pitch black heart with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Delightful red to black currant, red liquorice and mulberry aromas sail through the nostrils complimented by some cedary tobacco, dusty earth, subtle spicy black olive and bay leaf notes. Rich and intensely flavoured yet gorgeously refined, the mid weighted palate is layered with red to black currant and mulberry fruits. Lending further complexity are seamlessly integrated spicy vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco, subtle black olive and bay leaf accents. Slightly dusty but very fine grained tannins concluding long and concentrated yet elegant.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

There is 3% malbec in this wine. A variety of blocks are utilised for the cabernet component. Sleek and elegant, really understated and refined. A sheath of lightweight but puckering, al dente tannin keeping in dark cherry, cassis, alpine herb notes, clove, white pepper and tobacco. The wine does two speeds of fruit friendly and fresh while being earthy, herbal and savoury at the same time. Excellent length, tightly wound and just so darn superb overall. How is this this price?! Ludicrous. Drink by 2035.

From a single vineyard planted in 1975. Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Aromas of lime, citrus and orange rind flood the nostrils followed by some chalky talc, green apple and slatey mineral notes. The mouth watering palate is bristling with lime, citrus and orange rind fruits which are both terrifically concentrated and texturally voluminous. Chalky talc, wet steel and flinty mineral elements express themselves across the back half. Tense and dry it has a spine of crisp, laser edged acidity which leans into the long zesty finish that shows exceptional drive.

A bright and juicy version of the variety, vibrant and cooling, citrusy in a pretty way. Some rosy lift and a general sense of lemongrass and ginger brightness in the mix. So even, flowing, deeply flavoursome. A pleasing and generous style of riesling, unashamed of its origins and feeling pure and natural as it goes. Delicious. Serious. Complex. Drink by 2035.

Foursquare Convocation Exceptional Cask Selection Mark XXVIII 14 Year Old Full Proof Single Blended Rum (700ml)BARBADOS$250. 00Bottle$3000.00 DozenABV: 62%"...fans of aggressive and out-there rums should seek this one out." - drinkhacker.com
Convocation is release number twenty eight in Foursquare's long-running Exceptional Cask Selection Series. A blend of two distinct 14-year-old single blended molasses rums coming from the double-retort pot still and twin column Coffey - one was aged in bourbon barrels, and the other in ex-Madeira casks. As usual, apart from the consistently high quality, what we like about all these rums is that there are no additives, including sugar or colouring, coupled with the fact that they're bottled at blazing strengths - yet you often wouldn't know it to taste. Having said that, this one's said to be more intense than most! 62% Alc./Vol. Non-chill filtered.
Other reviews... rich, intense and quite sweet (not sweetened!)... In terms of this I think Foursquare Convocation is pretty much at its peak in terms of ageing... The mid palate gives you an array of flavours with the dark fruits allowing more of the peppery notes to come through alongside some light vanilla ice cream and some papaya notes. The finish as you would expect from a 62% spirit is long and very, very good. It reminds of the everlasting gobstopper scene in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory….theres just so much going on and it never seems to completely fade. The fruity notes continue through the finish alongside more oak and some leather, a hint of toffee, vanillla the list goes on and on and on… This is (from memory) one of my most favourite ECS releases thus far. I really like this. Top, top drawer stuff. 5 stars - thefatrumpirate.com
...The involvement of Madeira casks had me nervous with this rum, and the nose indicates more than a little involvement from that divisive wine style. While there’s plenty of rummy vanilla and baking spice and a lacquering of molasses, it’s the oxidized wine that makes the biggest aromatic impact. Those notes of heavily extracted plum and cherries, put through a balsamic wringer, are impossible to miss, and they settle inside the nostrils for the long haul. The palate continues to see the sweet wine theme moving ahead full force, the palate veering quickly into a blend of maple, vanilla candies, and reduced sherry, together creating a decadent dessert sauce-like quality. Citrusy and rich, the rum is unabashed and in-your-face, pouring on that unmistakable Madeira quality, so rich it gets between your teeth. Elements of coconut nectar, peach melba, completely brown banana, and a thick swirl of molasses dosed with cloves make this one of the sweetest and most decadent rums I’ve ever tasted. A tiny dose goes a long way, and the finish sits with you: Caramelized brown sugar, some tropical notes, and more baking spice. It’s hardly tiki material, but fans of aggressive and out-there rums should seek this one out. - drinkhacker.com
...Wow! Very potent. One of the funkiest Foursquares I’ve tried. Smell seems like any other Foursquare, Doorlys, etc. Hits hard up front, in a good way. Sharp on the tongue. One sip lasts a long time. Only way to describe it is an uppercut of Foursquare rums to all your senses. This one is an experience and not for the faint of heart. I’d give it a 10 if I could understand it better. I’m working on it. - rumratings.com

2024 Freycinet Vineyard RieslingTasmania, AUSTRALIA$29. 99Bottle$359.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2024-2032)ABV: 12.5%Closure: StelvinEstablished in 1979 by Geoff and Susan Bull, Freycinet was the first commercial winery on the East Coast of Tasmania. Today daughter Lindy and partner Claudio Radenti who both have extensive winemaking experience from their travels around the world carry on the tradition. 2024 was a standout vintage delivering fruit of exceptional quality with concentrated flavours and ripe, juicy acidity.
A magnificently sculptured and pure Tassie Riesling that boasts explosive power and intensity
Brilliant water like colour with a distinctive glimmer of green around the outskirts. Leaping out of the glass are powerful aromatics of lime, lemon and Granny Smith apple followed by some hints of orange rind, talc and chalky mineral notes. The palate is a combination of terrific intensity, drive and tension delivering sculptured, yet texturally engulfing flavours of lime, lemon and orange rind underpinned by mouth watering acidity. Lining the back half are green apple, chalky talc, wet steel and flinty mineral characters. Zingy in its feel it finishes exceptionally long, concentrated and super scrumptious.

A taut, high-tensile East Coast riesling that's all velocity and lip-smackingly pure lime and lemon fruits with hints of sea spray, crushed stone, lemongrass, grapefruit pith, citrus blossom and thirst-slaking good times. It's got a wicked minerally cadence as it cuts across the palate; a touch of clover blossom in there, too, if we're getting picky. But we're not getting picky and this is just a delicious, focused Tassie riesling. Drink by 2034.

Sorted in the vineyard and winery before being pressed as whole bunches to 500-litre puncheons, this wine is wild fermented with no temperature control, followed by seven months on lees to slowly enrich the texture. A couple of barrels went through malolactic, and the nicely integrated new oak component stands at 10%.
A rich, generously flavoured Mornington Peninsula Chardonnay with a beautifully rounded feel.
Brilliant pale straw colour with green tinted edges and a watery hue. Elevated aromas of white peach, nectarine and dried honey are complimented by some cashew, biscuity nougat and spice notes. Mid weighted, the palate features ample richness and a mildly creamy textural feel with fleshy white peach and nectarine fruits to the fore. Cashew, subtle dried honey, biscuity nougat and spice elements sit underneath. Fresh and balanced it finishes long and generous with a beautifully rounded feel.

I always chase Barney Flanders for his wines, which I think he quite likes. This is Merricks (35%), Balnarring (25%), Merricks North (30%) and Tuerong (10%). 500L puncheons, 10% new.
This is juicy and flavoursome. Nectarine, pink grapefruit, a lightly salty and spicy preserved lemon thing. It has a pulpy citrus flavour mixed with stone fruit, a little creamy and nutty, some flinty bits, with a seaside saline and citrus finish of excellent length. It’s such a tasty Chardonnay. Everything is in the right place. Drink 2025-2032.

The fruit for this excellent fuller styled Pinot Gris is sourced from 28-year-old, northeast-facing vines rooted in the signature grey loam and red ferrosols soils of Merricks. The majority of the fruit is pressed as bunches to old puncheons with full solids and kept on lees, while a small portion of the blend (10%) ferments carbonically for three weeks.
Brilliant pale straw colour with highlights of green around the edges and a watery hue. Pronounced aromas of ripe pear, baked apple and honeycomb are trailed by some quince and cinnamon notes. Rich and textural, the palate is engulfed with mouth filling ripe pear, baked apple, quince, honeycomb, musk and cinnamon spice flavours. From a small parcel of 30-year-old vines in located Tuerong, half the fruit is fermented as whole bunches for three weeks, where winemaker Barney Flanders looks to build mouthfeel rather than relying on high levels of ripeness on the vine: “The carbonic element ramps up the perfume and the texture.” The remaining half is pressed as bunches for fermentation in seasoned wood, and the whole matured for seven months in a single puncheon on its lees.
Brilliant water like core with gleaming green tinted edges. Rosewater, lychee, Turkish delight, musk and spicy ginger aromas deliver an exotic sniff. Rich, lusciously textured and mouth filling, pear, lychee and Turkish delight flavours engulf the palate. Musk and ginger elements then move across the back half. Brisk acidity with a long finish that’s round, full and spicy.

This offers up warming ginger, candied orange, and wisps of furniture polish. Giant Steps Causes & Cures Semi Dry White Vermouth (750ml)Yarra Valley, Victoria, AUSTRALIAReduced from $39.99$14. 99Bottle$179.88 DozenABV: 17%"...like summer in a glass... very accomplished and unique... Highly recommended." - martiniwhisperer.com
An elite, top-tier producer, famously named the 2025 Halliday Winery of the Year, Giant Steps' focus on single-vineyard Pinot Noir and Chardonnay has consistently earned them rave reviews for elegance, purity and finesse. That same care and attention to detail has been applied in making an artisanal Vermouth. Hand harvested, certified organic Viognier grapes, whole bunch pressed, wild fermented in French oak and blended with a host of botanicals macerated separately in a distillate of the mother wine (with help of Four Pillars Distillery). Two styles of Vermouth are produced, but the Semi-Dry White is considered the best. Clean, crisp and refreshing, it resonates winemaking skill, being more akin to a structured dry white than many traditional European vermouths. Measured against bar standards like Noilly Prat, it's lighter, more elegant and fresher, accenting notes of lemon and lime zest, thyme and dried apricots, with a cooling character that finishes with a fine-tuned herbal bitterness; gentian, dried orange peel tang and hints of flor sherry. The discount is of the likes we've never seen in its category - and we may never see again. The quality means you can embrace it as a standalone drink, on the rocks with a twist of orange, or use it to create superb Martinis and modern cocktails like a white Negroni, Boulevardier or Aperol Spritz. Just one caveat - Vermouth doesn't last forever, so once opened, remember to stash it in the fridge to maintain maximum freshness. Batch 04/18 tasted.
Other reviews... a very accomplished and unique product in the range of vermouth’s available, and a thoughtful evolution on the original recipe that suits the current vogue for a grown-ups aperitif...The white version I became quite smitten with. Its like summer in a glass. On the nose its a lovely honeycomb aroma (reminded me of a ripe Marsanne wine actually). It is fuller on the palette than its sister, with a dry finish and you get a hint of citrus, a note of light bitterness at the end, very nicely integrated. It is not floral or spicy like Noilly Prat and is more akin to Dolin perhaps in weight + intensity of flavours. This makes a terrific Martini. If you like yours not so astringent, then this is ideal. You don’t need a dash of Orange Bitters and the semi sweetness rounds out of the cocktail and definitely doesn’t dominate several of the gins I tried. I used about 5ml to 10ml to be safe in the 60ml cocktail and that was plenty. Less is more. Highly recommended. - martiniwhisperer.com
Notes from the producers... Vermouth has a long and surreal history, on the fringes of apothecary, art and medicine. This vermouth has small and exacting measures of botanicals, including wormwood, juniper, gentian, bay leaf, Cinchona bark, Seville orange, Meyer lemons, blood orange, green tea, Timor Pepper, Mandarin, native limes, cumquats and orris root (and many more!). Most of the botanicals were grown on our Yarra Valley Vineyards. The medieval treatise ‘Causes & Cures’ recorded the beneficial and restorative powers of all known herbs and spices.

2022 Glaetzer Amon-Ra ShirazBarossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIA$89. 99Bottle$1079.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 15 Years (2025-2040)ABV: 15%Closure: CorkA towering Shiraz that offers a remarkable combination of freshness, power and rich plush fruit.
Amon Ra is Ben Glaetzer’s flagship Shiraz named after an Egyptian God who was considered to be the King of all Gods. According to Ben Glaetzer the key to Amon Ra Shiraz is balancing the fruit and tannin extraction rather the maximising it – “the fruit has such expression that we aim to preserve the characteristics of the vineyard rather than dominate them.” Fruit was sourced from a range of vineyards, aged between 50-130 years old, with a strong emphasis on fruit quality, rather than simply selecting parcels of fruit because they were from old vines. The wine was matured for 16 months in 100% new oak of which 5% was American and 95% French. It was bottled unfiltered.
Impenetrable inky black heart with an equally deep dark red black hue. Freshly crushed ripe blackberry, dark plum and liquorice aromas soar out of the glass trailed by spicy vanillin oak, hints of ripe blueberry, subtle earthy mocha and faint peppered fennel notes. Rich, powerful and incredibly intense, the full bodied palate is tightly packed with opulent blackberry, dark plum, liquorice and ripe blueberry fruits. Monumental in its stature it has a firm yet beautifully integrated tannin framework. Spicy vanillin oak, traces of mocha, earth and peppered fennel elements lurk beneath. Plush yet remarkably fresh it has an explosive finish that seemingly never ends.
Drink over the next 10-15 years.

This seriously classy 2022 Amon-Ra is seamless and beautifully pitched with focus and refinement. Yet, it delivers powerful aromas of black licorice, fennel seed, and a core of blackberries dusted with star anise enriched by sweet, balanced oak. Impressive energy with a streamlined shape comes forward before building layers of sweet and savory tones. Chewy, fine tannins punctuate a finish of exceptional length. A stunning young wine that will build in bottle. Drink 2028 - 2045.

Angus Hughson - VinousI feel that Ben Glaetzer's Amon-Ra is one of the flag bearers for contemporary Barossan shiraz, certainly when it comes to the more powerful, weighty styles. It has a sense of compression. Wildly concentrated black fruits and palate heft, yet it displays freshness and form; supple, lithe and possessed of northern subregional power writ large. There's an imperious tannin structure but the fruit just sucks it all up and charges on. One for the sybaritic indulger of Barossan wine. It's a ripper. Drink by 2043.

Dave Brookes - James Halliday’s Australian Wine CompanionThe 2022 Amon-Ra Shiraz speaks so clearly of the Glaetzer house style: that is to say, sleek, polished, powerful, seamless and fruit-driven. These are wines that speak of the Barossa in their earthy splay of pliable tannin, but they have a vibrance to the fruit that is most attractive. So, while these wines harness the place—this wine could hardly be from anywhere else—they do it in a restrained kind of way. Not that you could call this 2022 Amon-Ra Shiraz "restrained" and get away with it. More to comment on the fact that Barossa is yoked and controlled in this wine. I like it a lot. There are notes of dark chocolate, black cherries, raspberry pastille and even pomegranate molasses, alongside sweet paprika, ironstone and red earth, roasted meat and a throw of tapenade. This is really good. 15% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2024-2037.

Erin Larkin - Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate
A wine that speaks with passion about its Barossa heritage. Generously full-flavoured with masses of concentrated dark fruit delivered with layered richness. The small crop from a reasonably challenging vintage produced fruit with the concentration and balance to create a wine like this. It’s opulent, yes, but there is an effortless stylishness that elevates it into another zone. Licorice and blackberry notes with plush dark plum and a lift of spice all play their roles. Fine chalky tannins and plenty of balanced oak add the final touch to a very good wine with staying power. Drink 2025-2050.

Glen Grant Batch Strength 15 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLANDReduced from $139.99$99. 99Bottle$1199.88 DozenABV: 50%"Long , languid, lilting and lush." - 97 points, Jim Murray.
Easily one of the more compelling single malt whisky deals of the year.If you loved the extra depth of flavour of Glenfiddich's hugely popular 50% ABV 'Distillery Edition', then this beauty from Glen Grant promises similar pleasures. Made by Dennis Malcolm, the longest serving Master Distiller in Scotland (born at Glen Grant Distillery in 1946), Jim Murray was blown away with the quality (review below), while it was the "Editor's Pick" at Whisky Advocate in 2021. Originally released for the American market, this is all about showcasing Glen Grant's superbly fruity distillate (think apples and pears). Taste-wise it's a sister style to high-strength Glenfiddichs or Glenlivets (lightly honeyed and fruity). A proper ABV and what seems like minimal chill filtration make it stand out from the mainstream Speyside pack. Also awarded a Double Gold at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition - if you needed more convincing.
Other reviews... A mesmerising display of juicy barley tones which gradually integrate with and then embrace the fragile tannins. Just a little extra buttery oil from the upped strength aids in the longevity of these sensations and gives the mid ground far more weight and substance than you might have expected... though the salivation levels are still high... Long , languid, lilting and lush right to the very end with a little lime blossom honey lightened the Lunjek marzipan... What a malt this has now become! The fact that two successive bottlings have blown me off my tasting desk means they appear to have nailed the personality of this malt, and in so doing extracting and then displaying the extraordinary and unique charm of this distillery. 97 points - Jim Murray's Whisky Bible 2021
Bright, fresh, and sweet on the nose, with green apple, melon, sugared lemon slice, almond cream, vanilla, and a hay field in the sun. The proof gives this ample body and allows flavors of fizzy lemon, fresh ginger, orange scone, caramel-dipped apple, honeysuckle, and toasted coconut to spread out over a layer of savory oak. It’s not quick to move on, lingering with a rounded finish of white pepper, fresh ginger, lemon oil, and oak. (Editors' Choice) 50% Alc./Vol.

Glen Scotia Victoriana Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Campbeltown, SCOTLANDReduced from $179.99$149. 99Bottle$1799.88 DozenABV: 54.2%94.5 points from Jim Murray, World's Best No Age Statement Whisky for 2022 / Category Winner 2024, Platinum at the San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2024... and the list goes on.
2024 isn't the first time significant praise has been lavished on Glen Scotia's 'Victoriana'. The cask strength release also captured the judge's attention at the 2022 World Whisky Awards where it was deemed World's Best No Age Statement Whisky, and before that in 2017, describing it as "An incredible whisky, packed with complexity." Add to that further endorsement from Jim Murray and you have the single malt equivalent of a slam dunk. Created in the vein of Scotch during the mid-to-late 19th century – the reign of Queen Victoria, hence the name - Victoriana is initially matured in ex-bourbon casks after which 30% sees a secondary spell in first-fill Pedro Ximénez (sweet) Sherry casks and 70% is finished in new heavily charred American oak. Weighing in at a generous 54.2%, purists will also love the fact that it's non chill filtered for maximum mouthfeel. There aren't that many single malts that you would consider buying repeatedly, but going by our experience of an earlier batch, this is one. Expect a flavour extravaganza.
Other reviews... n23.5 this has come out as gung-ho crushed hazelnut and barley. The subtlest hint of smoke makes you do a nasal double-take: is it there or not? It is...; t24 a fizzing display of ultra-lively, salivating tannins - a malt revelling in some sublime American oak. And if that isn't juicy enough, the barley pitches in to up the salivation score even further; f23 an elegant climb down. Drier, a little spice but some sexy cocoa notes moving towards praline; b24 as cheerfully bright and breezy a malt as you are likely to find and one bursting with deceptive complexity. If this is trying to depict your average bottle of whisky from Victorian Campbeltown, then it has failed miserably: it was never this good...! 54.2% Alc./Vol. 94.5 points - Jim Murrays Whisky Bible 2024
...I’m glad that Glen Scotia Victoriana does not have artificial caramel coloring because it is gorgeous in the glass, and I would feel a bit cheated knowing that the brilliant hue was artificially created. The time in ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks (although we don’t know exactly how long) provides a deep, slightly red, golden color. The nose is complex with slightly sweet caramel, brown sugar, pineapple, mango, and a touch of cinnamon. On the palate, the whisky fairly bursts with a range of flavors that are integrated into a cohesive whole but can be separated out and appreciated individually: crème brûlée, milk chocolate, sea salt, and caramel. Interestingly, the fruit notes that appear on the nose do not translate to the palate. But the whisky is creamy, mouth coating, and rich without being overpowering. A touch of water makes the milk chocolate notes more prominent, and I recommend it. The finish is quite long and introduces a touch of mint and spice that slowly fades along with salted caramel and milk chocolate. This is fantastic Scotch. It is both simply enjoyable and rewards further contemplation. It lacks an age statement, but it makes a statement with its quality and character. - drinkhacker.com
Double Gold - San Francisco World Spirits Competition 2017
Best Campbeltown Single Malt at the World Whisky Awards 2017.
After a period of closure in the mid 1980s Glen Scotia reopened towards the end of that decade. The distillery has always offered two styles of whisky - peated and non peated. Typically the latter is produced for about six weeks annually. Since 1999 it was distilling for only a few weeks of the year, thanks to the team at Springbank. Activity has been stepped up since 2007 with Malt Master, John Paterson at the helm. With just over a kilometre between them, speculation as to whether Glen Scotia will be the next Springbank is inevitable. Given the distillery's versatility and quality of output, the potential is there, but it probably won't balloon anytime soon (then again, just a few years ago many seasoned whisky lovers were oblivious to Springbank...) Place your bets. Right now, here's another perfect excuse to get better acquainted with Glen Scotia.
[51.5% batch tasted] Gleaming polished copper appearance. Momentarily off-key followed by sultry aromas of toasted fruit-bread, pineapple pudding and deep vanillas. Five minutes exposure emphasises dark chocolate and roasted nuts amid flashes of sappy oak and trace sulphur. Exceptional balance. Full bodied yet perfectly rounded. Mid palate is toffee-dense, malt-rich becoming tantalizingly oily / buttery towards the finish. Honey oatmeal, vanilla fudge and resiny oak to close with a wound up, mouth coating stewed fruit / vanilla / creme-caramel and pepper finale. Ends medium long with the honeyed-fruitiness lingering. One for the end of the night. Non chill filtered. 95 points
