Described by Vinous Media wine critic Ian D'Agata as the 'DRC of Moscato d'Asti', this is a captivating example of Moscato.
Brilliant water like core with a very faint tinge of green coursing the outskirts. Blossoming out of the glass are fragrant fresh sultana grape, rosewater, musk and light pineapple scents. Light on its feet and bursting with freshness, a delicate spritz adds effervescence to a natural fruit sweetness on the palate. Flavours of sultana grapes, tropical fruit, musk and sweet peach have a crisp, refreshing finish. Long deliciously fruity yet airy aftertaste.
Drink over the next 2-3 years.

A lot of Moscato, not least many of the local ones, are sweet junk. This is not that.
Complex, floral, fresh mint, ripe lime and peach. Fine balance between sweetness and acidity, gentle bubbles tickle the palate, there’s a little chalkiness, and fragrant mouth-perfume, and the finish is fresh and precise, and flat out yum. There’s a vanilla pudding sort of flavour in here too. Breakfast or dessert? Either/or. Yum. Drink 2021-2023+

Established in 1860 and purchased by the Purbrick family in 1925, Tahbilk has the world’s largest single holding of Marsanne, a grape that plays a major role in some of the worlds most famed white wines, those of Hermitage in Northern Rhone.
Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Pronounced fresh pear, lime and honeysuckle scents jump from the glass with hints of spicy bees wax also evident. Intense and texturally rounded yet fresh, the palate features generous pear and lime fruits over a back drop of subtle honeysuckle and light cinnamon spice. Finishes dry with a fleshy medium to long aftertaste.
Delicious drinking now but with 5-6 years cellaring will reveal Marsanne’s classic aged rich toasty, marmalade and honeyed characters.

Tahbilk has made marsanne its own, the quality and style seemingly set in stone, or should I say steel. Citrus, apple and pear now, honeysuckle biding its time because it is certain to arrive in a year or 2, when the texture of the wine will be transformed. Drink by 2028.

James Halliday – Australian Wine CompanionThis is a particularly fruity, fruit salad-y, open-for-business expression of Tahbilk Marsanne. It’s both pleasant and pleasing, but it’s also well balanced and tantalisingly persistent. You can go out now, no problems. But it can also be cellared with confidence. Drink 2020-2030+

Rich, flavour packed and luscious this is a classic example of a fuller Alsace styled Pinot Gris.
A drier and warmer growing season than normal resulted in lower yields but very high quality fruit making for a more expressive, richer and textured version of Pinot Gris. Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish tinged edges and a watery hue. Expressive ripe pear, red apple and honeysuckle scents leap out of the glass followed by hints of quince and spice. Rich and lusciously textured, totally mouthfilling flavours of pear, ripe apple and honeysuckle burst across the palate with explosive power and concentration. Finishes slightly off dry with good freshness, musk and spice elements filling out the back half. Long, rich, super intense aftertaste.

A new entry level sparkling from Bouvet that delivers great value. A fluffy white mousse sits atop a pale straw coloured base that has a very fine and persistent bead. Baked pear and spicy apple aromas show good intensity. Light toast, citrus and baked bread aromas ensue. Refreshing pear and ripe apple flavours fill the mouth giving it a lightly creamed feel. Subtle honeyed toast and citrus nuances are also evident. Dry crisp finish. Surprisingly good length and a medium to long aftertaste. Hard to beat at this price.

Pronounced dark plum, liquorice and dark raspberry scents sail out of the glass trailed by vanillin cedar, light earth and spicy pepper notes. The palate is beaming with juicy dark plum, dark raspberry, liquorice and blueberry fruits which are underpinned by subtle vanillin spice elements and peppered earth. Plump and fleshy in its feel with polished tannins and a long, rich, succulent aftertaste that’s lightly peppered.

A 72/28% blend from Glaetzer's stomping ground of Ebenezer, the vines 50 and 100yo. Grenache had minimal oak contact, the shiraz matured in used hogsheads for 16 months. It's Glaetzer style, pure and simple: love it or leave it. Drink by 2024.

Best’s impressive range of Great Western Shiraz has long taken centre stage with their Cabernets sitting in the shadows. Showcasing the regions elegance and cool climate structure the Cabernet possesses dense rich fruit and is capable of cellaring for up to 20 years. At under $25 it consistently delivers terrific value.
Deep black totally opaque core with a bright dark red hue. A mixture of red currant, mulberry and bay leaf scents possess plenty of aromatic power. Vanillin cedar, light tobacco and subtle spicy black olive notes follow on. Rich with superb intensity of fruit but not heavy, the palate has a delicious flavour profile of ripe red currants, mulberries and subtle rhubarb fruits which oversee a back drop of well integrated cedary tobacco characters, traces of dusty earth and infusions of bay leaf. Seamless, polished tannins have good underlying structure. A fleshy, supple mouthfeel only serves to enhance the wines drinkability. Concludes long, highly flavoursome and refined.

After 20 years together, Renato Corino and his brother Giuliano decided to split their family's renowned Barolo estate in 2005, allowing each to forge their own path under different labels. Renato's 8-hectare vineyards stand in the prized La Morra crus of Rocche dell’Annunziata, Arborina, Pozzo, Conca and Roncaglie, mostly Nebbiolo along with Barbera and Dolcetto. A brand new, state-of-the-art winery was built to steer production in the same perfectionist fashion that he runs his vineyards. Renato Corino is neighbours with cult Barolo figure Elio Altare and is cousins with the iconic Luciano Sandrone, both of whom are his mentors.
Deep dark red core with black tinged edges and a dark red hue. A mixture of fragrant rose petal, red cherry and ripe red currant aromas emanate from the glass followed by earth, light tobacco and spicy dried herb notes. Light to medium weight the palate is decorated with delicious red currant and red cherry fruits which are underscored by earth, light tobacco and spicy dried herbs. There’s plenty of freshness and some light grip from the classically stern Nebbiolo tannins which give it a rustic feel. Bright, slightly dryish yet very savoury aftertaste of charming length.

Rich in Italian heritage, Pizzini was established by Alfredo and Katrina Pizzini in 1978 when they planted the first vines on the property, however, it wasn’t until 1994 that the first wine was produced under the Pizzini label. With over 22 vintages behind them they are one of the countries leading exponents of Sangiovese, Pietra Rossa the new name adorning this well known wine. The term Italian for red stone is a reference to the soils that the Sangiovese fruit comes from.
Well sculptured yet seductive, this is a superb example of Sangiovese.
This wine was matured in a combination of 25% Nevers, 15% Fontainebleau, 30% Allier, 30% Troncais oak which was medium toasted, 20% new oak, for a period of 14 months.
Deep dark red colour with black tinged edges and a red hue. Spicy red currant and red cherry aromas emerge out of the glass with a fragrant herb overlay trailed by subtle tobacco and earth notes. Flooding the mouth is a delicious mix of red cherry and red currant fruits which are underpinned by bright, edgy acidity. Elements of dried herbs, spicy tobacco and light earth then flow onto the finish. Chalky but balanced tannins with a long, beautifully structured and highly savoury aftertaste.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.
