2021 Auld Family Wines Wilberforce Cabernet Shiraz

A rich, lush medium to full bodied blend with a long velvety, choc mint infused finish.

A blend of 65% Cabernet Sauvignon and 35% Shiraz matured for 16 months in French oak (25% new). Midnight black core with a deep dark red black tinged hue. Sailing out of the glass with ample intensity are dark plum, liquorice and minty black currant aromas followed by spicy vanillin cedar and earthy tobacco notes. Rich and lush, the medium to full bodied palate features succulent blackberry, liquorice and blackcurrant fruits over a spicy vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco and choc mint infused back drop. Polished tannins with a long velvety, choc mint infused finish.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

From the Barossa, and from a stellar vintage, this example of the great Aussie blend of Cabernet and Shiraz is a wine representing seriously good value. The colour is an opaque maroon. This is a fabulously fragrant red with the nose revealing notes of black cherries, florals, spices, blackcurrants, aniseed and violets. The wine is finely balanced, with a sleek texture, bright acidity and excellent length. Love it. Terrific now and any time over the next ten years. Such good buying. Drink 2025-2035.
