2015 A.D. Rattray Cask Collection Dalmunach 8 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Built in 2014 on the site of the old Imperial distillery, Dalmunach is a new Pernod-Ricard backed project at the forefront of the latest wave of new Scottish distilleries. Filled less than a year after the first spirit flowed from the stills, Rattray's refill hogshead provides the perfect stage to showcase the newcomer’s flavours. Not surprising for its age and alcohol, it boasts a super-concentrated, cereal-forward delivery that's oily and completely mouth filling. There are suggestions of vegetable stock, earthy peat and choc ripple biscuits, too, the latter accentuated with a dash water. For all of its brute force, the balance is remarkable at this atomic strength. Drawn from a single bourbon hogshead at 65.9%, cask 4191 filled 300 bottles. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Colour: Sun-blushed gold. Nose: Grapefruit oil, toasted multigrain bread and spiced chive butter. Palate: Grilled peach, rolled oat granola and damson jam. Finish: Mouthwatering orchard fruit and citrus liven the charred oak base.
