El Tequileno Reposado Rare Tequila (750ml)Jalisco, MEXICOReduced from $340.00$99. 99Bottle$1199.88 DozenABV: 40%Other reviews... This reposado is rested six years in American oak (more than required for reposado), yet because it was aged in a vessel larger than the 600-liter maximum, it still gets to bear the reposado label. The liquid offers distinctly sweet aromas of vanilla, maple and dried fig. The palate echoes those tones, layering on clove, allspice and cayenne. 94 points - Kara Newman, wineenthusiast.com

Glenlivet 21 Year Old The Sample Room Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)Speyside, Highlands, SCOTLAND$299. 00Bottle$3588.00 DozenABV: 43%Other reviews... Reformulated by Chivas Brothers cask expert Kevin Balmforth, this new edition is triple finished in first-fill oloroso sherry, fine-grained Tronçais oak cognac, and vintage colheita port casks. The nose has honey, malt, sherry, raisin, apricot, and toasted oak spice. The palate is indulgently rich, showing milk chocolate studded with raisins and nuts, dark fruits, ginger, and more raisin, the complex balance shifting subtly throughout from sherry to port. 93 points - whiskyadvocate.com
We last tried the regular Glenlivet 21 years old 'Archive' in… 2006, but we had really liked it back then (WF 87). Time to try a newer expression and check if it's kept its reassuring, very faintly smoky old-schoolness in this new guise that now includes a finishing in Cognac, Port and Oloroso… Colour: gold. Nose: I have the impression that it became more floral, kind of fresher, with more dandelions, also orange juice, also stewed mirabelles… But indeed this is not the old 'Archive'. I'm finding this extremely nice, but perhaps less old-school that it was earlier. Probably less core-quality sherry in there, and consequently, more vanilla. What's sure is that it's still an upper-class Speysider on the nose. Mouth: much maltier, much more on cakes straight from the oven, brownies, palo cortado… We're also finding a little mint, some camphory elements, angelica, aniseed, liquorice… While the lower strength doesn't seem be a problem here, on the contrary. There's even a little rancio in the background, and prunes. Finish: medium, perhaps even a little short, but some raisins and some coffee are flying to the rescue. A little black tea and just oak in the aftertaste. Comments: an excellent expression, one of the best within the official range, which got funnily modern on the nose, and extremely classical on the palate. I have the feeling that our score needs not be changed from that of the older 21 'Archive'. Having said that, quite intriguingly, they say that 'The brand recommends pairing with brie, green olive tapenade, and roasted almonds.' Roasted almonds? 87 points - whiskyfun.com

2024 Greywacke Sauvignon BlancMarlborough, NEW ZEALAND$26. 99Bottle$323.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 2 Years (2025-2027)ABV: 13.5%Closure: StelvinGreywacke is the Marlborough label of former Cloudy Bay winemaker Kevin Judd, where he presided over that company’s first 25 vintages establishing the reputation that it has today. The name Greywacke was adopted by Kevin and his wife Kimberley for their first Marlborough vineyard in Rapaura, named in recognition of the high prevalence of rounded greywacke river stones in the soils of the vineyard. Kevin registered the name back in 1992 with the vague notion that he might one day want to use it on a wine label of his own.
Fruit was sourced from various prime vineyard sites in Marlborough’s Southern Valleys and the central Wairau Plains with a portion of the juice fermented in old oak barrels.Brilliant water like core with greenish tinged edges. Pungent nose with aromas of passionfruit, herbaceous gooseberry and lime leaping out of the glass. Subtle green apple, stony mineral and grassy notes ensue. Scrumptious passionfruit, lime and green apple fruits burst across the palate with terrific intensity. Complimenting delicate herbaceous gooseberry, subtle grassy and flinty mineral elements also chime in. Displaying outstanding power and textural volume it has crisp acidity and a long, zesty finish.
Drink over the next 1-2 years.

A stroll through an island rainforest is the best way to describe this wine. A canopy of elderflower blooms, green apple, and mangosteen flesh opens the experience, while the variety’s flourishing, leafy qualities sit at its heart in the most enticing way. Notes of cut lime, papaya skin and aloe gel weave through. The palate builds with each sip – a touch of self-raising flour mealiness, a hint of lemon-butter creaminess, all carried in an overall dry style that both quenches and intrigues. Its natural arch of acidity drives the wine forward, underpinned by a low hum of power and a full force of flavour. Best enjoyed in a wide glass, to capture its full effect. Drink by 2029.

Shanteh Wale - James Halliday's Australian Wine CompanionThe 2024 Sauvignon Blanc was hand delivered to me in Fremantle by winemaker Richelle Tyney from Greywacke, all the way from Marlborough, New Zealand—roughly 5,200 kilometers between us. The wine leads with passion fruit and white pineapple, green apple, beeswax and brine. The wine is salty, fine and sedate—the characters are all in balance with each other. I love this wine from this small producer. It is intense and concentrated, shaped by savory phenolics and loaded with crunchy New Zealand acidity. This speaks of the place in a clear, unfettered voice, and it's brilliant for that. 13.5% alcohol, sealed under screw cap. Drink 2025-2030.

2025 Henschke Peggy’s Hill RieslingEden Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIAReduced from $27.99$22. 99Bottle$275.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2025-2033)ABV: 11.7%Closure: StelvinRacy and intensely flavoured with a long scrumptious, mineral infused finish.
This Riesling takes its name from a local landmark, Peggy’s Hill, located at the top of the range between the villages of Eden Valley and Keyneton. It is produced from a selection of longstanding Eden Valley Riesling growers, whose vines range from 10 to 70 years of age, growing in low-vigour, ancient Cambrian soils at around 500m altitude.
Brilliant water like colour with a faint greenish tinge around the edges. Jumping out of the glass are intense lime and citrus aromas which are trailed by some orange rind, distinct talc and chalky mineral notes. Mouth watering lime and lemon fruits are delivered with impressive concentration and zest over an orange rind, chalky talc and steely mineral back drop. Racy feel with crisp acidity and a long scrumptious, mineral infused finish.
Drink over the next 6-8 years.

Pale in the glass with just a youthful flash of green and aromas of freshly squeezed lime, Bickford's lime cordial and hints of Christmas lilies, crushed stone, green apple, citrus blossom, lemongrass and makrut lime. Sleek in its travel with a crystalline mineral driveline; all tension and detail as it shoots across the palate. Velocity and precision writ large. Such great, refreshing drinking, with a slatey, dry finish. Drink by 2040.

Dave Brookes - James Halliday's Australian Wine Companion
Taking it’s name from a local Eden Valley landmark between the villages of Eden Valley (yes, there’s a small township as well as the regional appellation) and Keyneton, where the Henschke family estate is based; sourced from several of the district’s preferred grower vineyards at around the 500m altitude mark. Deeply aromatic mostly with lime notes – zest, leaf and Bickford’s cordial, moving from nose to mouth with ease, aromas to generous flavours, and salivating citrus pith texture to energise the palate. Allowed time in the bottle, tasted with several months relaxation since bottling, this has found a great place to allow purity and depth of flavour to rise up. A joy to drink.

On the sample labels attached to the bottles of Pinot and Chardonnay, Franco talks about the ‘envelope’ of the wine. I’m not really sure what that means. Maybe he’s getting a lot of fan mail? Franco thinks this is the best Chardonnay since the 2021.
Juicy white fruit, grapefruit, aniseed, a little struck match, almond paste, cinnamon and clove spice. It’s packed with flavour, white nectarine and nutty spicy characters, a flinty grip to texture, quite some intensity and power here, and in some respects it seems more Beechworth than Yarra, or so I think. Pear and citrus, lime rind, with excellent length of flavour. It’s elemental as at now, and a little raw, though I reckon it will deliver with a couple of years in bottle. It’s a cracking release. Drink 2026-2035+

2023 Nicks Secret YP Limited Cuvee Greenock ShirazBarossa Valley, South Australia, AUSTRALIAReduced from $120.00$39. 99Bottle$479.88 DozenCellar: Drink now - 8 Years (2026-2034)ABV: 13.9%Closure: CorkFrom a celebrated husband-and-wife team whose work we've previously highlighted, this flagship Shiraz embodies the power and richness of the Barossa Valley while maintaining remarkable finesse. Sourced from a dry-grown Greenock block planted in the 1960’s and farmed by fourth-generation grower, this is the estate’s flagship bottling that normally sells for around $120 per bottle. Suitably packaged in a hefty sized bowling pin like bottle, total production was just 102 cases. Maturation took place in French oak puncheons, 30% new, for a period of 24 months.
A rich, opulent yet highly finessed Barossa Shiraz that at third of its normal price represents phenomenal value.
Magnificent depth of colour featuring an impenetrable inky black heart and a very deep dark red black hue. Intense blackberry, liquorice and dark plum scents flood the nostrils followed by some vanillin cedar, earth, gentle mocha and pepper notes. Rich dark plum, liquorice and blackberry fruits are delivered with impressive textural flesh and power yet it feels refined and not heavy. Slightly grainy but polished tannins with notions of spicy vanillin cedar, fennel and peppered earth lying underneath. A dash of blueberry lends a fresh feel across the long opulent yet eloquent finish.

This comes from a 1960 planted Shiraz vineyard in Greenock. The rich, deep colour points to its power and intensity. But this is a lavish wine with texture and fruit concentration that is perfectly crafted and refined. That combination of basket pressing and gentle extraction, and maturation before going into oak sets the wine up. This one gets a little more new French oak than a lot of the ******* wines with 50% in new French oak punctions where it was left for 24 months. But the rich, opulent fruit has absorbed that oak perfectly for a seamless, layered complexity. This is a wine that’s built for some ageing. Drink 2025-2045.

Ray Jordan – WinePilot.comSourced from the Old Bamboo Vineyard in Greenock and tended by David Materne, these vines were planted in the 1960s. This is de stemmed whole berries matured in 50% new French oak on lees for 24 months. A pool of blackcurrant, plum and bilberries, with a circle of carob and coffee grinds. Licorice bullets, tanned leather and long pepper. The palate lifts with dancing acidity and some pillowy tufts of soft tannins. Dried bay leaf and oregano add to the crimson hues and the palate is discerningly dry and yet refreshing. This is the kind of wine you order at a restaurant and then continue to reorder till the night is almost through. It’s full of gentility and sophistication. An ideal match for any dry aged steak. Great value McLaren Vale Shiraz from a sensational vintage. After a cool fermentation, the wine spent 14 months in a mix of French (75%) and American (25%) oak hogsheads. We have notes of mocha, spices, plums, coffee beans, chocolate, blackberries, tobacco leaves and aniseed. A richly flavoured palate, which is really rather attractive. Good focus, balance, and length with silky tannins. There is generosity and richness here. Cracking value to enjoy over the next six to ten years. The vineyards which provided the fruit for this terrific McLaren Vale Cabernet include the Klavenick vineyard and, perhaps more interestingly, the Picnic Ground vineyard. The Picnic Ground vineyard was once owned by Thomas Hardy and was named after the picnics the family held there. The individual parcels for this wine were all fermented and matured, in older French oak, for fifteen months. Dark purple, the nose exhibits notes of plums, mocha, bay leaves, warm earth, dry herbs, mulberries and cigar boxes – lots of complexity here. This is a burly, firm style. A warm climate Cab with excellent length and firm, earthy tannins. This will be better in two years and then has a long life ahead of it, at least a good ten to twelve years, if necessary. The first thing I noticed upon opening the bottle was a ripe, confectionery-like aroma that filled the room. After a bit of breathing, red cherry, strawberry, plum and black tea came forth to round out the delightful nose, with some stemminess obvious once you inspected the wine a bit closer. It had a juicy, salivating quality to it that made it very easy to drink up the bright, silky liquid, and it was even a touch better on the second night. Like the Chardonnay, it’s just as nice as a sipper or with food.
