2021 Vasse Felix Filius Cabernet Merlot

Established in 1967, the 2021 vintage celebrates 50 years of Margaret River Cabernet at Vasse Felix. Known as the ‘son of’ Vasse Felix Cabernet Sauvignon, the Filius Cabernet Merlot combines Margaret River Cabernets classic structure and power with the succulence of Merlot to form a generous fruit driven blend that makes it an ideal earlier drinking style.

A delightful blend of Cabernet and Merlot that highlights all of Margaret River’s great qualities at an entry level price.

A blend of 69% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Merlot & 1% Malbec matured in 1-6 year old French oak barriques for a period of 10 months. Deep dark red black colour with a dark red hue. Lifted red to black currant and mulberry aromas are married to notions of vanillin cedar, tobacco, earthy black olive and bay leaf. Beautifully refined and elegant the mid weighted palate is layered with savoury red to black currant and mulberry fruits which meld into a spicy vanillin cedar, tobacco, earth and bay leaf infused back drop. Fine, seamlessly integrated tannin structure with a long highly finessed conclusion.
