  With Cardhu single malt at the heart of the blend, Johnnie Walker’s Master Blender, Jim Beveridge has used whiskies matured for at least ten years in first-fill American Oak casks to create this latest expression. He finished the Scotch in ex-rye whiskey casks, creating a complex new whisky with creamy vanilla notes transitioning to a spicier finish.

  In the 20's this blend was created for ocean liners, the decanter / bottle being designed with a rounded bottom, so that it will never tip over - just swing. A boon for the barmen who had to endure rough seas and shelf balance and a testimony to Sir Alexander Walker's ingenuity. Swing virtually disappeared for several decades to be recently re-launched as a super-premium blend. Its distribution remains largely confined to duty-free markets. We have imported a small quantity for whisky lovers to experience what is reputedly one of the smoothest, silkiest blended Scotch whiskies on the market today.

  Reports have it that just a few hundred bottles of this very desirable Blue Label were released in Australia. Handomsely packaged, the design celebrates 200 years of whisky craft and employs some of the rarest whiskies in the Walker reserves. Each whisky is hand selected from the eight legendary distilleries that all existed when John Walker made the first steps on his journey, including some very rare expressions from long-closed “ghost” distilleries. Bottled at a slightly higher 43.8% ABV and in a 750ml format, it promises a rare treat for serious Johnnie Walker collectors.

  Is this the Holy Grail of blended Scotch Whisky? The Blue Label blend echoes early pioneering days when Johnnie Walker would select a small number of whiskies in his own local grocery shop in order to create an outstanding blend for the specific tastes of a highly valued customer. John Walker and his son Alexander began their earliest blending experiments using a limited range of whiskies, drawn mainly from the islands, the western and northern Highlands and a few distilleries in Speyside. After rejecting whiskies that didn't meet their standards, they found that the very best were strictly limited in supply. Following their lead, the Johnnie Walker master-blender developed Blue Label as a celebration of the founder's unremitting standards for only the highest quality whisky.The blend is similar to the taste and character of some of the earliest whisky blends created in the 19th century, possessing a traditionally rich peaty taste combined with an exceptionally smooth, deep, distinctly malty flavour.

A toasty, sweet aroma is complemented by a peaty and spicy taste that develops into heady flavours of oak, dark-chocolate and rich fruitcake. Comprising 16 of the world's rarest whiskies, Blue Label is dominanted by Islay malt whisky, and balanced by several rich Speyside malts that have undergone exceptional periods of sherry oak maturation.

  Other reviews… Nose: Opens very slowly to reveal a mass of aromas: lanolin, smoke, hessian, dried fruit, polished wood floors, oak, liquorice, cake, silky red fruit, cream. Palate: Hold it in the mouth and there's allspice, sultana cake, crisp malt, bung cloth, turfy smoke which builds in intensity as the whisky opens. Finish: Long, smoky, but also fruit pastilles.   Diageo has expanded Johnnie Walker’s experimental "Blenders’ Batch" series with three limited editions. Aimed at bartenders, the range includes a Rum Cask Finish, a Wine Cask Blend, and an Espresso Roast edition. The Rum Cask Finish is reportedly the result of 10 years of experiments by lead blender, Chris Clark. Essentially, Speyside and Lowland whiskies are finished in casks that previously held Caribbean pot still rum. Recommended in a Scotch Mojito.

  Released to commemorate 100 years of the Black Label. 
  Black Label was first introduced in 1908 although its origins go back as far as 1820 when Walker blended his original 'Kilmarnock Whisky' and began selling it from his grocery shop. The location of the shop had a great deal to do with Black Label's success. Situated on a main trading route near an old poll gate, the shop attracted passing merchants and locals.
  It was through these travellers that the whiskys fame quickly spread.

  This aged version of the classic Red Label enjoys a similar cult following. Its unique complexity is achieved by expertly blending an extremely diverse, but complementary range of malt whiskies, each of which has been matured for a minimum of 12 years and some for much longer. In total, up to 40 malts and grain whiskies make up the Black Label blend. Island and Islay malts deliver spice, richness and lingering peat. Speyside malts make an important contribution to the depth of taste, bringing smoky malt, fruitiness, apple freshness and a rich sherry character to the blend. At the heart of Black Label lies 12 year old Cardhu, an outstanding malt from Speyside, which imparts silkiness, a characteristic which has made it famous as a single malt.

  To date, Black Label has won more international awards for excellence than any other deluxe whisky. In the 1880s, Old Highland won medals in Sydney and Paris. Over 100 years later, in 1994, Black Label picked up gold medals at the 1994 Monde Selection Awards and the International Wine and Spirit Competition (IWSC), where it also won a trophy for Best Blended Whisky. In 1996, it won gold again at IWSC for the best deluxe Scotch Whisky. 40% Alc./Vol.

  A discontinued Johnnie Walker Gold label in an eye-catching ice pillar / cooler.

  Conceived by Alexander Walker in 1920 for a centenary blend, Gold Label had to wait another 30 years to see the light of day, due to shortages of aged malts caused by the First World War. It remained as jottings in a notebook until the early 1950s when, shortly after Alexander's death, the Johnnie Walker master blender completed this unfinished symphony. However, this time shortages caused by the Second World War, meant that bottlings were exclusively reserved for the company's blenders and directors. From its smoky, caramel and vanilla aroma to its creamy, honeyed taste, this Scotch whisky finishes with a light and lingering spiciness. It's unique character comes from an alchemic blending of 15 whiskies, at the heart of which is Clynelish.

  A perfect addition to your Game of Thrones collection and described by whiskyadvocate.com as "A deliciously tasty dram for your night’s watch", this light, fruity blend comes chill-filtered for a smooth flavour you can sip straight from the freezer (reportedly, the bottle also includes a special design element: ink that glows if a bottle’s frozen!) At its heart are malts from Cardhu and Clynelish – "the latter one of Scotland's most northern distilleries where whiskies have endured long Scottish winters, not dissimilar to the climate north of the wall". An obvious must-have for JW collectors. Get it while the opening price holds

Room temperature aromas speak of toffee, lime zest, menthol, waxy foliage, and pronounced grain notes. Straight from the freezer, there are cornflakes, beeswax, caramel, vanilla, sharp citrus, sugared apple, and a hint of nutmeg. Deliciously tasty dram for your night’s watch.   A new addition to the Johnnie Walker family. The whisky was created taking Black Label as a blueprint and adding heavily-peated malts, some aged in deeply charred oak casks. We have one bottle only of this unusual one litre format.

  Other reviews... So how brave can you be? Would you take one of the world's most iconic blends and risk messing with it? If you've got a whisky maker as good as Jim Beveridge, then why not? This picks up from the regular JW Black and its signature Caol Ila smoke and peat heart and then adds to it, doing exactly what it says on the tin. But the clever part of this is upping the apple, orange, and fruit content too. Great.

  The world's number one selling blended Scotch and the preferred choice of whisky lovers every where. Johnnie Walker Red Label is a full-flavoured spirit that is a blend of Highland malt and Lowland grain whiskies. Red Label was originally created in 1909 for the new Scotch drinker who was inclined to mix whisky with ice, water, soda or in a variety of cocktails. By widening the range of whiskies used in his father's Old Highland Whisky, Alexander Walker developed Red Label as a smoother and lighter alternative - this was a break from the traditional deeply flavoured, full bodied Scotch whiskies of the past and was considered a more approachable drink.   This is another highly collectable 12 year old in a metal tin, again both old and knocked around but this time the tin is a narrow black one. The bottle has a tax strip over the seal and again, the rear has an Italian import label for 'United Distillers Italia SPA Genova', a company that ran from the late 1980s until mid 90s when Diageo was formed, therefore the bottling date is a best guess. Bottle in excellent condition for its age. 40% Alc./Vol. One only.

  Johnnie Walker Gold has had several incarnations, however, it's the original 18 year old age statement that's most prized by collectors and said to taste the best. A blend of 15 different whiskies (with a good dose of Clynelish), this edition was on the market from 1992 through to 2009. Around 2013 The Centenary was phased out in favour of the current Gold Label Reserve which carries no age statement.   This was one of JWs most exclusive blends, created from some of Scotland's rarest malt and grain whiskies. One only to sell from a private collection. Stunning presentation made this discontinued Johnnie a shortlisted collectable.

  Other reviews...Nose: leathery and waxy with distant hints of honey and peat. Taste: big age on the malt, chewy, nutty-toffee and quiet spices; Finish: more peppery now with excellent oak amid the grain with toffee returning with some sweet coffee; Balance: a luxurious blend with firm grain and big weight. A dram to take your time over.

  You have to love the sleek transition of twilight-blue horizon to sunset gold on this special, limited edition bottle of Johnnie Walker Blue Label. The design is inspired by the highest boundary of the earth's atmosphere, known as the "Karman Line" - an altitude at which aeronautical flight becomes impossible due to the thinning of the atmosphere.   Is this the Holy Grail of blended Scotch Whisky? The Blue Label blend echoes early pioneering days when Johnnie Walker would select a small number of whiskies in his own local grocery shop in order to create an outstanding blend for the specific tastes of a highly valued customer. John Walker and his son Alexander began their earliest blending experiments using a limited range of whiskies, drawn mainly from the islands, the western and northern Highlands and a few distilleries in Speyside. After rejecting whiskies that didn't meet their standards, they found that the very best were strictly limited in supply. Following their lead, the Johnnie Walker master-blender developed Blue Label as a celebration of the founder's unremitting standards for only the highest quality whisky.The blend is similar to the taste and character of some of the earliest whisky blends created in the 19th century, possessing a traditionally rich peaty taste combined with an exceptionally smooth, deep, distinctly malty flavour. Whiskies of up to 60 years old contribute to its character.

  In 1993, a panel of international experts at the International Wine and Spirit Competition awarded Johnnie Walker Blue Label its most prestigious medal, the Gold Medal for the Best Blended Whisky. Indeed this is a venerable whisky and one that would have been much appreciated by Walkers clients. A toasty, sweet aroma is complemented by a peaty and spicy taste that develops into heady flavours of oak, dark-chocolate and rich fruitcake. Comprising 16 of the world's rarest whiskies, Blue Label is dominanted by Islay malt whisky, and balanced by several rich Speyside malts that have undergone exceptional periods of sherry oak maturation. Today Blue Label is packaged in the traditional blue-green flint glass bottle – a perfect recast of the original. Square sided, yet tapering at the base and with the now famous slanting label. All whisky lovers should sample Blue Label once in their life to experience the full spectrum of the blenders art. Supplies are always limited. Each bottle is individually numbered.

  Other reviews… Nose: Opens very slowly to reveal a mass of aromas: lanolin, smoke, hessian, dried fruit, polished wood floors, oak, liquorice, cake, silky red fruit, cream. Palate: Hold it in the mouth and there's allspice, sultana cake, crisp malt, bung cloth, turfy smoke which builds in intensity as the whisky opens. Finish: Long, smoky, but also fruit pastilles.
