2020 Domaine de Vaccelli Vaccelli RoseCorsica, FRANCE$79. 99Bottle$959.88 DozenABV: 13%Closure: CorkMuch of the reputation for Corsican wine lays in the production of cheap and plentiful rosé, yet Vaccelli target a more serious and food friendly example. Vaccelli Rosé is 100% Sciaccarellu from vines averaging 30 years old and planted on slopes of sandy granitic soils. Pale onion skin in colour, juicy white strawberry and peach fruit abounds married to citrus peel and white florals. A gastronomic rosé with ageing potential of 6-8 years.
Other Reviews....
From 20-year-old Sciaccarellu vines on granite soils, the 2020 Ajaccio Rosé was matured for 19 months, including 11 months in wooden tanks and 600-liter barrels on the lees. It has a delicate, very fresh bouquet with aromas of spices, garrigue, lemon oil, iodine and candied orange. Medium to full-bodied, with a textural and silk structure, it’s built around bright acids and a lingering, salty finish. This vintage can be approached with pleasure even if it has 3-5 years of evolution ahead of it. Drink 2023-2030.

Yohan Castaing - Robert Parker's Wine AdvocateRosés, when properly vinified, can age extremely well, and this is the case with this stunning 2020 Ajaccio Rosé. The color is beginning to evolve slightly, but it's the nose in particular that is absolutely fascinating. It evokes candied grapefruit, cranberries, and an exquisite note of kirsch. The texture on the palate is based on an almost perfect balance between power and finesse, with high-quality tannins. With superb length on the palate, this rosé oscillates between delicacy and vinosity. Drink over the next 3-4 years. Drink 2025-2029.

2022 Domaine de Villaine Mercurey Les Montots RougeBurgundy, FRANCE$145. 00Bottle$1740.00 DozenABV: 14%Closure: CorkDomaine de Villaine, nestled in the village of Bouzeron in the Côte Chalonnaise, is renowned for crafting elegant, terroir-driven wines. Founded by Aubert de Villaine, co-director of Domaine de la Romanée-Conti, the estate focuses on organic viticulture and minimal intervention, producing standout expressions of Aligoté Doré, Chardonnay, and Pinot Noir. Aubert de Villaine handed over management to his nephew Pierre de Benoist in 2000, with Pierre passionate about rediscovering the identity of the Côte Chalonnaise as a whole and of Bouzeron in particular. These wines embody purity, precision, and a deep respect for Burgundy’s traditions.
Other Reviews....
The 2022 Mercurey Les Montots has a fragrant bouquet of chalk-tinged red fruit, raspberry and cranberry, with a touch of smoke and undergrowth emerging with time. A light-framed Mercurey, the palate is medium-bodied and crisp, with tart red fruit and just a very small attenuation on the finish. Fine. Tasted at merchants' 2022 Burgundy tastings in London. 2020 Domaine Denis Mortet Gevrey-Chambertin Lavaux St Jacques Premier CruBurgundy, FRANCE$820. 00Bottle$9840.00 DozenABV: 13.5%Closure: CorkA man of the vineyards, Arnaud Mortet is driven to produce perfect Pinot fruit from meticulously tended vineyards. He is without question one of the finest growers of the entire Côte and as great wines are the products of great fruit, it is no coincidence that he is producing some of the finest wines in Burgundy today. There is no doubt that the wines are more refined than those produced while his father was alive, yet they share the same intensity and potential longevity. Arnaud is continuing Denis' dream of producing more refined wines, openly getting closer stylistically to the wines of his uncle, Charles Rousseau, without sacrificing depth and intensity or consistency across the range.
Other Reviews....
Admirably discreet wood influence can be found on the markedly cooler and more restrained yet wonderfully diverse aromas of various dark berries, plum, violet, leather and whispers of the sauvage. There is excellent volume to the dense, powerful and mineral-driven big-bodied flavors that flash a taut muscularity on the youthfully austere, lengthy and expressly built-to-age finale. This is a ripe but classically style LSJ that should amply reward extended keeping. Drink through 2035+.

Once again there is plenty of floral influence present on the ripe and fresh nose of wild red and dark berries along with plenty of earth and humus nuances. There is excellent volume and richness to the powerful and sappy larger-scaled flavors that also possess a beguiling texture on the lingering and balanced finale that is less austere than usual. Even so, note well that this too is constructed to repay longer-term cellaring so at least some patience advised. Drink through 2035+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru mingles aromas of sweet red berries and plums with hints of exotic spices, violets, rose petals, musk and orange rind. William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 21, 2022)The 2020 Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, matured with 50% whole bunch and 20% new oak, from parcels just below Château de la Tour on more gravelly soils. This has a broody bouquet, more bashful and closed at the moment, compared to Mortet’s other cuvées. That will open in time. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, quite saline with a white and black pepper on the strict but quite compelling finish. Sophisticated, but it will need time. Drink 2027-2055.

Argile Rouge is the expression of three grape varieties: 50-year-old Mondeuse from clay soil in Saint-Jean-de-la-Porte, and Gamay and Persan that comes from 40-year-old vines on west-facing, schist/marl hillsides in Saint-Pierre-de-Soucy. The Améthyste Rouge is a blend of two quintessential Savoie varieties, Persan and Mondeuse. It was fermented with wild yeasts and aged in neutral French oak for 18 months. The Savoie region is nestled within the French Alps, not far from Chambéry. Once one powerful wine region with 20,000 hectares planted on the complex slopes of the mountain, it's now a small region, totalling 3,000 hectares. Most of the vineyards have been replanted on the flat, where the machines can find their way but not the quality. However, in 1998, one very special slope called "Coteau de Cevins" abandoned for decades was brought back to life by the Mayor of the area Denis Perroux and Michel Grisard, one of the pioneers of biodynamics in Savoie. The Coteau de Cevins once produced some of the most exciting wines of France.
The Coteau de Cevins was replanted in 1998 with the original, very qualitative vines of Persan and Mondeuse noire (red) as well as Altesse, Roussanne , Mondeuse blanche, Malvoisie and Jacquère (white). The slope reaches 60% of inclination, and the vines are planted on terrasses of very old, complex mica schists, loam and sand. With 8,000 vines planted per hectare and 25 hectolitres per hectare produced, it is the Grand Cru hill of Savoie. Out of this magnificent hill, three wines are produced, called Quartz, Schiste and Améthyste. The first real crop was harvested in 2002. In 2005, Brice Omont was appointed wine grower and director of Domaine des Ardoisières, to pursue the work Michel Grisard had started.
In addition to the Coteau de Cevins, Brice Omont started to rent a vineyard on the Coteau de St Pierre de Soucy in 2008 in order to produce wines from clay and limestone soils and schist. The two Cuvée Argile white and red were born. In 2015, Brice Omont started to rent another vineyard of great quality Jacquère to produce Silice, a highly addictive cuvée of white alpine wine.

A super-fresh if somewhat brooding nose is comprised by notes of essence of red pinot fruit, spice and lavender that really helped from being in a decanter for 30 minutes first. The succulent and reasonably concentrated medium weight flavors exude a subtle minerality before concluding in a compact, powerful, complex and impressively persistent finish. This seems to have put on weight since I last reviewed it and I like the overall sense of harmony and balance. In sum, this is evolving nicely though I underscore that it still needs at least another 5 or so years. In a word, lovely. Try from 2027+.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 10, 2020)The 2017 Volnay Les Santenots-du-Milieu 1er Cru was opened by Dominique Lafon just because he wanted to compare with the ensuing two vintages. Who was I to stop him? It is very different in style from those vintages: redder fruit, more transparency, charming, and it wears its heart on its sleeve. The palate is full of slightly peppery red berry fruit, saline and spicy with good grip and a long raspberry and wild strawberry finish. So unbelievably drinkable, even at this early stage you’ll finish bottle. Drink 2023-2040.

Neal Martin - VinousDominique thinks this may be THE vintage of the recent past, even at 55 hl/ha. This view may be conditioned by having just lived through making the third hot dry vintage in a row. The 2017 may be a fraction lighter in colour, but it is really haunting in its fruit, superbly balanced, medium density, a crisp tannin or two right at the back and now here comes the fruit again. I see what Dominique means – certainly if you want to drink in the medium-term future.

Within a short period of time Antoine Foucault is already making some of the most exciting wines in the Loire Valley. The Domaine du Collier was created in 1999 by Antoine (son of Charly Foucault from the famed Clos Rougeard) and his wife Caroline. Having worked at Clos Rougeard for four years and still at the young age of 26 he took the opportunity to buy four-hectares of vines (through his family) in the commune of Brézé in the best lieu-dit of ‘La Ripaille’. The estate comprises 6 hectares with the vast majority of the estate planted to Chenin Blanc (including some 100 year old vines) and just under a hectare of Cabernet Franc.
Antoine is dedicated to natural viticulture, without the use of chemical treatments, fertilizers, or weed killers. The harvest is manual with strict sorting carried out in the vineyards. In his deep cellar, Antoine does not use commercial yeast, and doesn’t treat the wine with sulphur until bottling. The end results are brilliant and it is probably no surprise that demand for them is very high and as a result they can be very hard to find.

In his deep cellar, Antoine does not use commercial yeast, and doesn’t treat the wine with sulphur until bottling. The end results are brilliant and it is probably no surprise that demand for them is very high and as a result they can be very hard to find.

The 2014 Saumur Rouge La Charpentrie is simply stunning, revealing aromas of flowers, peonies, cassis, licorice and smoke intertwined with mineral-laced tones. Medium to full-bodied, beautifully textured and pure, it’s suave and seamless with a multidimensional core of fruit, concluding with lively acids and a long, saline finish. It's as impressive for its harmony as it is for its plenitude. Drink 2024-2034.

2022 Domaine du Pegau Chateauneuf du Pape Cuvee ReserveChateauneuf du Pape, Southern Rhone, FRANCE$150. 00Bottle$1800.00 DozenCellar: Drink now - 10 Years (2025-2035)ABV: 16%Closure: CorkBoasts enormous levels of richness, power and concentration together with a firm robust tannin structure.
Domaine du Pegau Reserve is produced from 85% Grenache, 9% Syrah and 4% Mourvedre, Counoise and other varieties. The grapes are not destemmed, and the natural yeast fermentation is completed in traditional, cement vats before ageing an average of 24 months in old foudres.
Midnight black dark red heart with a dark red hue. Heady aromas of black raspberry, black cherry liqueur and liquorice flood the nostrils complimented by some scorched earth, new leather, provincial herb and pepper notes. Boasting enormous levels of richness, power and concentration, the monumental palate is saturated with black raspberry, liquorice and black cherry liqueur like flavours. A firm robust tannin structure holds everything in place whilst notions of scorched earth, infusions of herbs du Provence, leather and peppered meats unwind across the back half. Incredibly dense and chiselled, it finishes exceptionally long and sumptuous with a firm grip.
Drink over the next 8-10 years.

A quick assemblage from foudres of the 2022 Châteauneuf du Pape Cuvée Réservée reveals a dark-fruited, spicy style, enlivened by hints of violets and garrigue. Full-bodied, rich and densely concentrated, with a long, silky finish, it looks to be a near-carbon copy of the stunning, cellar-worthy 2019. Drink 2025-2045.

Joe Czerwinski - Wine Advocate (Oct 13, 2023)A very dark, structured and full-bodied Chateauneuf-du-Pape with aromas of leather, tar, raw meat and a hint of wild forest berries. Still very youthful and a bit closed, but the abundant fine-grained tannins give this terrific aging potential. A cuvee of 80% grenache, 6% syrah, 4% mourvedre and 10% other traditional grape varieties. Matured for two years in large, neutral oak. Drinkable now, but best from 2027.

Stuart Pigott - JamesSuckling.comShowing a solid step up over last year, the 2022 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Reservée is a ripe, sexy, incredibly complex Pégau that's just about overflowing with red and black fruits, herbes de Provence, pepper, and leather-like aromatics. Reminding me slightly of a more elegant, less concentrated example of the 2009, it has full-bodied richness, a broad, layered mouthfeel, and a great finish. It's already hard to resist yet should evolve nicely for 15-20 years if well stored.

Very muscular, meaty and gamey, with wonderful spicy complexity on the full-bodied and highly structured palate. This has terrific concentration and compact fine tannins at its core. Enormously dense at the monumental finish. Not easy to find the right words for all this. Stuart Pigott - JamesSuckling.comTasted from bottle, the 2019 Châteauneuf Du Pape Cuvée Laurence is heavenly stuff that tastes like the essence of Provence. Sporting a deeper ruby/plum hue as well as incredible notes of red and black fruits, new saddle leather, herbes de Provence, licorice, and God knows what else, these all carry to a full-bodied, powerful, unctuous effort that has tons of richness, sweet tannins, and a great finish. The 2018 Châteauneuf-du-Pape Cuvée Laurence is opulent and sensual, bursting with pungent aromas of raspberry jam, ripe blackberry and black cherry, garrigue, white pepper and crushed rocks. Essentially, this is the same wine as the Cuvée Réservée, but instead of maturing it for two years, Laurence Féraud keeps it locked away for four, leading to more concentration, slightly elevated alcohol and a firmer tannic structure. It concludes with a long-lasting finish. Drink 2023-2043.

The new single-vineyard red 2018 Arbois Trousseau Béranger was produced with fruit from a vineyard that used to belong to Jacques Puffeney. It's clean, fruit-driven, has good varietal character and is quite straightforward. The mid-palate lacks a bit of weight. Drink 2021 - 2024.

Luis Gutiérrez - Wine Advocate (May 2021)The 2018 Arbois Beranger (Trousseau) emerges from a tiny 0.5-hectare parcel Guillaume D’Angerville purchased from Jacques Puffeney. Dark and exquisitely layered in the glass, the 2018 presents a dark, intense expression of Trousseau, and yet does so while maintaining the freshness and energy that is so typical of these wines. Black cherry, spice, leather, scorched earth and licorice are some of the many notes that give the 2018 its distinctive personality. As appealing as the wine is today, I would cellar it for a few years to allow the full breadth of its aromatics to develop. The Beranger is offered only in magnum. It won’t be easy to find but it is worth the hunt. What a special wine it is. Drink 2022 - 2030.

Antonio Galloni - VinousPreviously farmed by Jacques Puffeney, this parcel in Montigny-lès-Arsures, the ‘capital of Trousseau’, is now part of Domaine du Pélican. Puffeney used to call his wine ‘Les Bérangères’. The soil is made of alluvium and silt over grey marl, stony enough to allow good drainage. The vines are over 50 years old. South and south-west exposure and fairly low elevation (circa 300–330 m). Aged in 350-litre Burgundy barrels – no new oak. Not enough volume for a foudre. Bottled August 2019.
Mid crimson but the darkest of the 2018 Dom de Pélican reds. Seems to show a little more oak on the nose even though there is none new. Spicy and smells richer than the Pinot Noir and the Trois Cépages. Firmer, a little more tannic and yet almost luscious in the mouth. Smoothly chewy rather than silky. A little less refined yet more power. Drink 2023 - 2030.

The final blend of the 2018 Chateauneuf du Pape La Crau will include 60% to 65% Grenache, 15% each Mourvèdre and Syrah, with the remainder Cinsault. Boasting complex scents of roses, black tea, raspberries and cherries on the nose, it follows that up with a full-bodied palate that's silky and airy in texture yet flavorful and tremendously long on the finish. jamessuckling.comThe flagship of this great estate is the 2018 Châteauneuf Du Pape and it could quite possibly be one of the longest lived wines in the 2018 vintage, which in general, is a charming, forward vintage geared for consumption in the first decade of life. Revealing a more ruby, almost translucent color as well as a great perfume of wild strawberries, blackberries, Asian spices, peppery garrigue, and flowers, it hits the palate with medium to full-bodied richness, a building, undeniable sense of minerality, plenty of mid-palate depth, and enough tannins to warrant 2-3 years or bottle age. It has the more upfront, expressive style of the vintage yet my money is on this evolving for 15-20 years.

Here too there is a mentholated top note to the much earthier aromas of poached plum, underbrush, red currant and touches of the sauvage. There is excellent verve to the equally broad-shouldered and muscular flavors that possess outstanding complexity on the tannic, serious and beautifully long finish that is a bit less austere than it usually is at this early juncture. A mentholated top note is present on the markedly ripe aromas of cassis, earth and bitter chocolate. The rich, velvet-textured and concentrated medium-bodied flavors possess pretty good verve and length on the slightly warm finale. This will need to develop better depth to merit the upper-end of my projected range. Drink through 2026+.

A more deeply pitched and brooding nose only grudgingly reveals its aromas of cassis plum liqueur and pungent earth where the latter is also found on the vibrant and well-detailed big-bodied and tautly muscular flavors that deliver excellent depth and persistence. This is not as dense as the best in the range, but it should have no trouble amply repaying 12 to 15 years of bottle aging. Drink through 2032+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundAlmost black in the middle. More a very intense sun dried dark cherry bouquet than raisins though. Pretty heady stuff either way round. Super sumptuous with this exciting red cherry fruit as well as black, and good acidity. It would be easily possible to fall in love with this, even if it is more powerful than I really like.

2015 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini Clos Saint Denis Grand CruBurgundy, FRANCE$550. 00Bottle$6600.00 DozenABV: 13.5%Closure: ArdeasealOther Reviews....
The 2015 Clos Saint Denis Grand Cru includes 55% whole bunch fruit with 50% new oak. It has a composed bouquet with fine delineation, crushed rose petal and cold wet limestone permeating through the black and red fruit. It conveys the imperious personality I like from my Clos Saint-Denis. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe tannin, black fruit stained with orange rind and white pepper, conveying the structure and slight aloofness I appreciate in young Clos Saint-Denis, reassuring that this will age over 15-20 years. This is lip-smackingly delicious and just utterly superb.

Neal Martin - Wine Advocate #228 (Dec 2016)Wood toast and a top note of menthol presently compete somewhat with the wonderfully fresh, elegant and complex nose of cool red currant, spice and an abundance of floral nuances. I very much like the mouth feel of the intense and sleekly muscular flavors that possess excellent drive that also characterizes the subtly stony, balanced and strikingly persistent finish. The underlying material appears to be present such that this should eat its wood and overall this is very classy juice.

2015 Domaine Heresztyn-Mazzini Gevrey Chambertin Goulots Premier CruBurgundy, FRANCE$230. 00Bottle$2760.00 DozenABV: 13%Closure: ArdeasealOther Reviews....
The 2015 Gevrey Chambertin 1er Cru les Goulots is the first to be completely biodynamically farmed, although Florence told me that she only really noticed the difference apropos the color of the grapes in the 2016 vintage. It has a complex bouquet with redcurrant, cranberry and blood orange, very focused with deftly integrated oak. The palate is medium-bodied with supple tannins, a little meatiness/dried blood developing underneath the carapace of black fruit, white pepper and Moroccan spice towards the finish. I love the tension here, not powerful but it just has the energy you would not anticipate from such a warm season.

Neal Martin - Wine Advocate #228 (Dec 2016)While the wood treatment is a bit more evident it still remains a background element on the ripe but airy nose of spicy, floral and earthy red berry fruit aromas. The elevation of the vineyards is especially noticeable in a ripe vintage like 2015 as the medium weight flavors display plenty of minerality and a racy energy that carries over to the saline finish that is shaped by relatively fine-grained tannins. Lovely juice.

This is also wonderfully spicy with its very fresh aromas of black cherry, raspberry, exotic tea, hoisin and anise wisps. The mouthfeel of the broad-shouldered flavors is again highly seductive yet serious as the very firm finale is dusty and somewhat raspy where a touch of warmth eventually emerges. As noted, this is extremely firm and is going to need a very long snooze in a cool cellar before it reveals its full potential. Drink 2039+.

Here the nose is both spicier and fresher with its mix of red and dark currant, cassis and soft wood nuances. There is lovely delineation to the energetic middle weight flavors that exhibit more minerality on the balanced, linear and very firm finale. This should age gracefully and is a wine that will need at least 6 to 8 years first. Drink 2031+.

2016 Domaine Jacques-Frederic Mugnier Musigny Grand CruBurgundy, FRANCE$6499. 00Bottle$77988.00 DozenABV: 14%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
The much more restrained nose is strikingly spicy and offers an extensive range of floral elements on the red and dark berry fruit aromas that are cut with Asian-style tea wisps. The broad-shouldered and concentrated flavors are ultra-refined yet exceptionally powerful and almost painfully intense while offer stunningly good length on the graceful and classy finale where the only nit is a hint of warmth. This gorgeous but imposingly structured effort indisputably qualifies as a 'wow' wine and is one of the wines of the vintage. Drink through 2041+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundMugnier's 2016 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru is just being released, but readers should take its eight years of cellaring at the domaine as a statement of intent rather than a sign to start pulling corks on reception, as the wine is still very far from maturity. Unwinding in the glass with scents of dark berries, orange rind, exotic spices and a deft framing of new oak, it's full-bodied, deep and layered, with a hugely concentrated core of fruit that reflects the year's low yields, lively acids and supple but abundant structuring tannins, it concludes with a long, palate-staining finish. Drink 2028-2065.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 19, 2024)The latest to be released is the 2016 Musigny Vieilles Vignes Grand Cru. I vividly recall tasting this with Mugnier in the barrel cellar after the dramatic frost-afflicted season. To refresh your minds, allow me to reproduce the relevant paragraph from that year’s in-barrel report. Mugnier explained: “There were three barrels of young vines, pruned as Cordon de Royat, which suffered limited damage from frost, and three barrels of older vines, pruned as Guyot, that were very badly hit. The former, regardless of the age of the vines, was tasting much denser and had a greater length than the latter. The final blend of Musigny includes all three barrels of the young vines plus one of the old ones, in order to bring a touch of freshness. The two remaining barrels were blended with the Chambolle Premier Cru Les Plantes and the few grapes from Combe d’Orveau to form the Chambolle-Musigny Trente-Deux, so called after the number of vintages that I have made.”
I have re-tasted the 2016 once in bottle, blind at the Burgfest tasting, where it flirted with perfection. Nothing has changed since then. Mugnier poured the wine in November 2023 after tasting his 2022s (bottles have not been labeled, hence the photograph of the cork). The nose is stunning. There’s incredible purity and intensity, fabulous delineation and a sense of exuberance as it doles out red berry fruit, fresh black truffle shavings and sous-bois. The palate is medium-bodied, with svelte tannins, poised and precise, gently building toward a seamless finish. It represents a heavenly evocation of one of the world's greatest vineyards. Drink 2024-2060.

Neal Martin - VinousFine mid purple in colour. A very appealing fresh deep red fruit on the nose, quite restrained. Then a bombshell explosion of rich ripe sweet fruit, with just enough acidity at the back. It grows and develops very well, not the most blockbuster of Musignys but finely balanced. This has come on tremendously since tasted in barrel. Indeed only 4 barrels are being bottled as Musigny, with 2 declassified after the frost.

2020 Domaine Jean Tardy Chambolle-Musigny Les AthetsBurgundy, FRANCE$235. 00Bottle$2820.00 DozenABV: 13%Closure: CorkOther Reviews....
A slightly more deeply pitched nose displays liqueur-like aromas of red and dark raspberry, poached plum and cassis. There is excellent concentration to the intense and well-detailed flavors that culminate in a moderately rustic, powerful and serious bitter pit fruit-inflected finale that is even more firmly structured. At least some patience suggested. Drink from 2027+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundThe 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets reveals aromas of sweet raspberries, orange rind, rose petals and musk. Medium to full-bodied, nicely concentrated and precise, it's lively and penetrating, concluding with a chalky finish. This derives from a precocious site below Beaux Bruns and Aux Echanges.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 2022)The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Athets is quite backward on the nose with blackberry, undergrowth and touches of ink coming through with aeration. The palate is medium-bodied with sappy red fruit, sorbet-fresh with veins of orange zest and quince that enliven the finish. Quite Vosne-like in style. Give this 3-4 years in bottle. Drink 2025-2037.

Neal Martin - VinousBright dense purple, showing the excellent colour saturation of the vintage. This is pretty powerful but has not lost its Chambolle character and has kept fine tannins with a fresh crunch to finish. Cherry and raspberry notes in the fruit profile, good length.

Ripe and appealingly layered aromas are comprised by notes of poached plum, black cherry, pungent earth and a pretty array of spice wisps. The rich, solidly concentrated and equally attractively textured middle weight flavors are not quite as refined, but they do offer slightly better depth and persistence. This is an excellent Nuits villages and worth considering. Drink from 2030+.

Allen Meadows - BurghoundOne of the highlights of the range is the 2020 Nuits-Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes, a lovely wine that mingles aromas of plums and cherries with hints of petals and sweet soil tones in an inviting bouquet. Medium to full-bodied, layered and nicely concentrated, with bright acids and powdery tannins, it's well worth seeking out. The vines here were planted in 1937.

William Kelley - Wine Advocate (Jan 2022)The 2020 Nuits Saint-Georges Au Bas de Combe Vieilles Vignes has a clean and precise bouquet with black cherries, crushed violet and boysenberry fruit. It takes time to unfurl in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with slightly chewy tannns, fine acidity, quite structured with a fresh, sappy finish. This should age nicely in bottle. Drink 2024-2040.

Neal Martin - VinousDense purple black. This is usually the outstanding cuvée and once again the nose promises very well, Dark fruit, concentrated but not too ripe, a little bit of black cherry, then some ripe strawberry, easily enough fruit to surround the tannins, just the right acidity. More muscle than the Vosne, but very well balanced for a medium to long term future.
