Semi translucent bright red colour with tinges of black around the edges and a light rusty red hue. A fragrant mixture of cherries, red raspberries, rose petals, earth, tobacco and spicy dried herbs greet the nostrils. Vibrant red cherry and raspberry fruits are underpinned by fresh acidity and stern tannins. Earth and spicy dried herbs flow onto the back half. After 20 years together, Renato Corino and his brother Giuliano decided to split their family's renowned Barolo estate in 2005, allowing each to forge their own path under different labels. Renato's 18 hectare share in La Morra is mostly Nebbiolo along with some Barbera and Dolcetto.
This Barolo integrates Nebbiolo grapes from different vineyards sites in La Morra and one from Serralunga d’Alba which have vines with an average age of 35 years old. Maturation takes place in oak barrels of varying age for a period of 24 months.
Very deep dark red colour with black shaded edges and a dark to brick red hue. The nose has a perfumed like quality to it offering up scents of dark to dried cherries and rose petals which are complimented by earth, tobacco, dried herb and spicy leather notes. Delicious red to dark cherry and raspberry fruits are backed by a stern tannin structure and vibrant acidity which imparts a rustic feel. Earthy tobacco characters, dried herbs and spice sit on the back half. Dry, grippy finish with a long fruit loaded yet muscular aftertaste.
Cellar 6-8 years.
