The 2021 Ferran Blanc has a lovely nose of nettle, gooseberry and crushed stone scents, well-defined and already full of character. The palate is well-balanced with red apple, touches of mango and spice, and tropical hints on the finish. It will be difficult to not finish a bottle. Drink 2025 - 2035.

Bright and cheerful this has some really delicious sappy fruits, some sweet apricot in the mid palate, this is enjoyable, has managed to keep pace and lift in a difficult vintage for the appellation.

The 2020 Filhot has a simple bouquet of lemon sherbet, nectarine and hints of marmalade – as usual, lighter in style than other Sauternes. The palate is balanced with a viscous opening. It is not heavy but quite straightforward, sporting tangerine and quince notes on the finish. Decent, early-drinking Sauternes.

The 2019 Filhot has a light bouquet with honeysuckle and linseed aromas, perhaps just missing the energy and intensity of the best Sauternes. The palate is actually better than the nose suggests with admirable purity, well balanced and with a fresh, viscous finish of pineapple and peach. I just hope that the aromatics take a leaf out of the palate's book and improves during élevage.

Given they are under the same ownership of the Guinaudau family, Chateau Grand Village is often referred to as Chateau Lafleur’s second vineyard. The estate has been owned by the Guinaudau’s relatives for hundreds of years, however it was not until the year 2000 that they began to produce wine themselves from the property. Situated on the edge of the Fronsac region and classified as Bordeaux Superieur, the vineyard is planted to 79% Merlot and 21% Bouchets (Cabernet Franc). The terroir is similar to Saint Emilion with its mix of calcisol going down a foot or so to a bedrock mostly made up of asteria limestone. At Grand Village, they practice many of the same techniques employed at Lafleur, including pruning and de-budding adapted to each vine plant, crop thinning in summer and de-leafing. The grapes are picked by hand, followed by very careful sorting and selection. Grand Village also produces a white wine from a blend of Sauvignon Blanc (85%) and Semillon (15%), from a 5 acre plot.

    Other Reviews....
The 2024 Grand Village Blanc was picked from September 5 to 11. This has a vivacious bouquet with lime flower, honeysuckle and light wild peach notes that are beautifully defined. The palate is fresh and vibrant with a lightly spiced opening. It is delineated with just a dab of orange rind on the finish. The 2024 is irresistible. Drink 2027-2037.

This is a wild GV with so much sliced lemon, green apple and lime, as well as hints of flint. Mussel shells, too. Medium-bodied, tangy and vivid. A blend of 78% sauvignon and 22% semillon.

Scheduled to be bottled in June (tasted out of tank), the 2024 Grand Village (Lafleur) Blanc has a bright, racy, mineral-driven style in its crushed citrus, lime, chalk, and sappy, minty herb-driven aromatics. It's medium-bodied, has a vibrant spine of acidity, and outstanding length.

Regularly one of the standout dry white wines from the Bordeaux appellation, the 2021 Blanc, a blend of 73% Sauvignon Blanc (picked on the 9th, 11th and 13th of September) and 27% Sémillon (picked on the 7th of September), offers up a fresh, delicate and elegant bouquet with aromas of lemon oil, lemon, spices, lime tree leaves, menthol and perfectly ripe orchard fruits. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, it's layered and seamless, its concentrated core of fruit underpinned by racy acids, concluding with a calcareous, saline finish. Drink 2024 - 2034.

The 2021 Grand Village Blanc has tightened up since I tasted in barrel, showing hints of white peach and orchard fruit with a dab of chai tea in the background. The palate is well-balanced with a keen thread of acidity. Notes of lime cordial move into a spicy finish that tingles on the tongue after the wine has exited. Drink 2025-2035.

Mostly Sauvignon (there's 25% Semillon), the 2021 Grand Village (Lafleur) Blanc has a classic limestone vibe in its honeyed lime, crushed stone, and sappy herb-driven aromatics. With medium-bodied richness, a vibrant, chiseled mouthfeel, and beautiful mid-palate depth and extract, it's a riveting white to enjoy over the coming 10-12 years or more. Drink 2024 - 2036.

Matcha, white chocolate and gooseberries - clean fresh and expressive on the nose. Crisp and tense, this has an immediate burst of energy and flavour on the palate, mouthwatering, pineapple, grapefruit, green apple and grapes, but so juicy, nothing bitter here at all. Fun and fresh, clean all the way through, and so uplifting. Feels perfectly manicured and there’s power, this is not light, it’s filling but at the same time elegant. Hard to explain just how good this is. Pure enjoyment with a sharp, almost sour edge that is very enjoyable. Drink 2024 - 2033.

The Grand Village 2018 Blanc is composed of 75% Sauvignon Blanc and 25% Sémillon. A little youthfully mute to begin, with swirling it offers delicate scents of lime leaves, chalk dust and wet pebbles over a core of lemongrass, fresh grapefruit and green apples. The medium-bodied palate is elegantly styled with savory accents to the intense citrus flavors and harmonious acidity, finishing long and chalky. Drink 2022-2029.

The 2018 Grand Village Blanc is bright and airy, with lovely creaminess and light tropical accents that are likely the result of the warm year. Lemon confit, lime, white flowers, mint and a touch of reduction round out this vibrant, wonderfully polished Blanc. Drink 2022-2028.

Another brilliant vintage for this cuvée, the 2018 Grand Village (Lafleur) Blanc checks in as 75% Sauvignon and 25% Sémillon that was vinified in a mix of stainless steel and barrels, 20% being new. The Sémillon brings another level of complexity, and this offers a terrific nose of honeyed lime, Meyer lemon, and grapefruit notes all pinned by a beautiful underlying earthy mineral-component that emerges with more time in the glass. Rich, medium to full-bodied, and textured, it has a bright spine of acidity, flawless balance, and a great finish. Ranking the top whites in the region, it's going to drink well for 10-15 years. Drink 2021 - 2036.

In 2020 a blend of 85% Sauvignon Blanc, 15% Semillon. Outperforming both price-point and appellation, Grand Village has an intense grassy character on the nose and zesty grapefruit and lime on the palate. 2023 Chateau Guiraud Pre-Arrival Offer
    Sauternes, Bordeaux, FRANCE
    $126. 00
    Bottle
    $1512.00 Dozen
    Closure: Cork

Ranked one step down the Sauternes appellation pyramid from the legendary Chateau d'Yquem is Chateau Guiraud. The wine is produced from certified organic vines with an average age of about 20-30 years old. The cepage is 65% Semillon and 35% Sauvignon Blanc. Ageing takes place in French oak for approximately 18 months.

    Other Reviews....
The 2023 Guiraud, now made by former Yquem winemaker Sandrine Garbay, has a rather reticent nose at first, opening with orange pith and pear aromas. It just needs a bit more intensity. The palate is medium-bodied with a tangy opening. It’s a little spicier than its peers—marmalade and stem ginger, with more peachiness toward the finish. It feels harmonious and poised, but I would wait until the aromatics open, so give it four to five years after bottling. Drink 2029-2055.

You really see the class and botrytis character here with clarity and focus. Notes of spice, mushroom powder, subtle apricot and honey. It’s medium-bodied, fresh and bright with nice sweetness at the end. A modern and precise Sauternes.

Vivid gold in colour, laced with white peach juice, grilled pear, stone fruits, lime juice, opulent but with sculpted lift and zest, this extends outwards and upwards through the palate, capturing the pleasure of 2023 sweet wines in Bordeaux. Has spice and character, gorgeously expressive even now, and will age with ease. Sandrine Garbay, long time winemaker of Yquem, is director at this 128ha estate, that has been farmed organically since 2011. Harvest began on September 27 and continued through to October 13.

A certified organic Bordeaux blend of 50% Sauvignon Blanc and 50% Semillon fermented in old Sauternes oak barrels and aged for 7 months on lees to give the wine more volume and textural appeal. The fruit is primarily sourced from a vineyard that was planted to Sauvignon Blanc by accident around 40 years ago. (For their Sauternes, Guiraud were after a Semillon-heavy cuvee - too much Sauvignon Blanc was not considered the right balance for a sweet wine). Instead of selling off the Sauvignon or re-planting, Guiraud decided to create a special dry white and the “G” was born.
Brilliant pale straw colour with a glimmer of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. The nose presents a mix of herbaceous gooseberry, subtle pineapple, citrus, asparagus, pencil shavings and spice. Intense guava, lime, pineapple and gooseberry fruits overlay spicy pencil shavings and delicate herbaceous grassy elements. Beautifully rounded mid palate texture and volume finishing dry and brisk with a penetrating conclusion.

Roasted nuts, pears, pineapple, white peach, mango and honeysuckle make a gorgeous perfume. This is hugely appealing. Fleshy and exotic, with saffron and cinnamon, luscious and rich in a way that is a little atypical for the signature of Guiraud - you feel the concentration of the vintage, although the necessary lift on the finish comes in through white pepper spice, fennel, white pear and passion fruit. 2020 is the 10th vintage to be certified as organic. Full bottle 1,360 g. Undated cask sample. 65% Sémillon, 35% Sauvignon Blanc. Organic certification since 2011. Yield just 8.32 hl/ha. Fermentation and ageing in oak barrels (90% new) for 18 to 24 months.
Very introvert aromatically at the moment although there is a bit of botrytis on the palate. Waxy, round texture and really pretty sweet. Lots of interest here.

The 2020 Guiraud is fabulous. Usually a more opulent wine, the 2020 impresses with its translucent personality. Orange confit, apricot preserves, chamomile and dried flowers all develop in the glass. I very much like the energy here. A classy, impressive wine.

Spicy and intense with dried-apple, peach and some stone character. It’s medium-bodied and sweet, yet fresh and vivid.

Roasted nuts, pears, pineapple, white peach, mango and honeysuckle make a gorgeous perfume. On the palate the wine shines with its perfect balance between all the decadently sweet pineapples and candied apricots coated with honey, and ample refreshing acidity keeping everything balanced between sweet and fresh.

A yield of 8.3hl/ha, fermented and aged in 90% new oak.

Textured, intensely flavoured and possessing lots of energy this is an excellent example of dry white Bordeaux.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with a light tinge of green around the outskirts and a watery hue. Aromas of lime and green apples have a herbaceous grassy overlay with light pencil shavings, citrus and asparagus in the background. Showing excellent intensity the palate is filled with herbaceous gooseberry, pear and lime fruits which over shadow subtle notions of pencil shavings, citrus and grassy asparagus characters. There’s good volume in the mouth with a nicely rounded mid palate feel. Finishes dry and fresh with crisp acidity and a long textured aftertaste that has a lick of spice to it.
Drink over the next 4-5 years.

This is a dense, waxy white with sliced dried-apple and lemon character, as well as stone and white peaches. It’s full-bodied, flavorful and rich. I like the spicy finish at the end from the semillon. Really excellent. From organically grown grapes. Drink or hold.

This is the dry white wine of the First Growth Sauternes house 'Chateau Guiraud'. Made from a blend of 70% Sauvignon Blanc & 30% Semillon, it is matured in the used barrels of their Sauternes wine for approximately 9 months with regular lees stirring during the first 3-4 months.

Brilliant very pale straw colour with some greenish highlights around the edges and a watery hue. The nose opens with some herbaceous gooseberry and green apple top notes followed by hints of asparagus, citrus and dried herbs. Light across the palate but well textured featuring flavours of green apple and asparagus intermixed with some dried herbs followed by delicate citrus and light pencil shaving characters on the refreshing dry finish. Crisp acidity with a long aftertaste of green apple, asparagus, spicy herbs, citrus and light pencil shavings.

From the outstanding 2015 vintage, this is one of the best dry whites we have seen from Chateau Guiraud.

Brilliant pale straw colour with greenish straw tinged edges and a watery hue. Herbaceous grassy characters and asparagus top notes emerge from the glass followed by some citrus that merges into subtle cedary pencil shavings with dried herb end notes. The palate has a fullish textural feel finishing fresh and dry. Mouthfilling herabcaeous grassy characters meld into some pear and citrus with touches of dried honey also present over some cedary pencil shavings and light spice. Another rockstar Sauternes is the 2017 Château Guiraud, which has the freshness and purity of the vintage, yet ample depth and richness. Caramelized limes, citrus, and ample minerality all emerge from this full-bodied, impeccably balanced dessert wine. Its acidity is present yet integrated, and it has a great mid-palate and a big finish, all pointing to this being a beautiful Sauternes with a long life.

Silky and concentrated, this is one of the successes of the appellation for me. It has lovely zest and zip, with touches of candied ginger and a fresh lift on the finish. Many experts consider Chateau Haut Bergeron to be the best of the non classified Sauternes. Part of the secret of the success of Robert Lamothes and his sons Patrick and Herue is the terroir. The 28 hectare vineyard is split on such a way, that part of the vines are in Barsac, (next to Chateau Climens), part are at Preignac and a large slice next to Chateau d’Yquem. At one stage the label used to boast this fact, with the words 'CONTIGU d’YQUEM'. Son, Herue is a dedicated and passionate winemaker who ages wine in 25% to 50% new oak casks. The exact percentage depends upon the vintage conditions. The 2020 vintage comes replete with special packaging to celebrate 200 years of the Lamothe family being vignerons.

Bright golden straw colour with a pale straw hue. A shade more restrained than both the 2018 and 2019 vintages, the nose opens up to reveal peach, citrus and apricot aromas which have a honeyed overlay. Also making an appearance are hints of marmalade and spice. The most elegant of the trio, coating the palate are fresh apricot and peach fruits which sit over a honeyed citrus back drop. Some pineapple, lemon and spice characters linger on the back half which is enlivened by fresh acidity. Long, luscious conclusion.

The 2023 La Louvière Blanc has a reticent nose at first, but it just takes a few swirls to reveal real complexity and mineralité. This is a nuanced La Louvière Blanc—less outgoing than say, the Olivier Blanc. The palate is fresh and vibrant with an electric line of acidity that cuts through the concentrated white fruit. Beautifully composed on the finish, this is possibly the best white I have tasted from the estate at this early stage. Drink 2027-2047.

Serious density to this with phenolic framing, yet it’s agile and vivid with sliced-apple, lemon and mineral character. Flavorful finish. Tight and composed.

The 2023 Château La Louvière Blanc is terrific, with classy notes of ripe pineapple, crushed citrus, and subtle minty herbs. It's balanced and has a round, layered texture as well as a clean finish. It certainly brings the fruit and texture of the vintage and will shine in its youth.

Chamomile, herbal, with lime aspects. A smooth, even creamy, palate with breadth and energy as well, showing off white peach and clementine orange, with agreeable toasty oak accents (the wine is ageing in 30% new oak barrels of 500 litres). Long finish, frank and a bit tart, but in a nice way. Ageing will make this a sure winner and the wine has the needed acidity and dry extract for more long-term keeping. Drink 2025 - 2038.

Vibrant in nature, the wine is loaded with crisp, fresh, sweet, juicy, green apples, pomelo and touches of pineapple, and lemon rind. This is going to be quite nice to enjoy on release for all of its fruit, and vibrancy. Drink from 2025-2032.

Brilliant pale straw colour with a faint greenish tinge around the edges and a watery hue. Aromas of lime, green apple and delicate grassy notes emerge from the glass with some fresh asparagus and stony mineral elements also evident. Crunchy green apple and lime fruits are underscored by zippy acidity with some herbaceous grassy characteristics, light asparagus and stony mineral nuances lingering through the dry finish. The 2023 La Tour Blanche is a deep, heady Sauternes. Apricot, mint, white flowers and orange confit are some of the many notes that build as the 2023 shows off its class. Chateau La Tour Blanche takes its name from the founder of the estate, Jean Saint Marc du Latourblanche, and is one of the most respected producers in Sauternes. The 40 hectares of vines used for their grand vin are planted in one large parcel with a prime location close to the Ceron river, and the soils are a mix of gravel, clay, sand, and limestone. Planted here is a combination of 83% Semillon, 12% Sauvignon Blanc, and an unusually high proportion of Muscadelle at 5%. The Semillon is aged in 35% new, French oak barrels for 16 to 18 months, while the Sauvignon Blanc and the Muscadelle are aged for 16-18 months in stainless steel vats before blending and bottling.

Full bottle 1,335 g. Undated cask sample. 89% Sémillon, 5.5% Sauvignon, 5.5% Muscadelle. Conversion to organic viticulture. Yield just 1.8 hl/ha!! 'Traditional' vinification with new barrels only for the Sémillon. Sauvignon and Muscadelle are vinified in tank for aromatic freshness.
Pale orangey gold. That pear-juice/botrytis nose plus light, interesting cheesiness. Good energy and balance. This has some of that tarte Tatin juice character. Weight but not heaviness. Light smokiness. Impressive. But just look at that yield!

Since new owners took over at Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey in 2014 it has undergone a complete renovation of the cellars and winemaking facilities, along with a decrease in yields to ensure only the best grapes go into their top label. Their renewed attention to detail is also evident in the new bottle design, introduced from the 2013 vintage and featuring a smart engraved logo. Ripe, very ripe, and over ripe pineapples, mangos, candied oranges, apricot, flowers, honey, and marmalade create the intoxicating perfume. Perfectly perched between its decadently, sweet side, and its raciness on the other side, this is sublime. The roasted passion fruits, mangos, apricots, pineapple, roasted cashews, and saffron on the palate are all slathered with honey. This has the potential to be a future legendary sweet wine. If this is your thing, grab it as only 1,200 cases were produced. It is going to be stunning on release. But if you prefer your sweet wines with age, this will evolve for 3 or more decades. The wine blends 95% Semillon with 5% Sauvignon Blanc. Drink from 2025-2055.

The 2005 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is a wine that has gradually crept up in quality in recent years. As before, the bouquet is replete with lovely apricot and fig scents, subtle traces of buttered toast and almond developing with aeration and sporting fine delineation. The palate is mid-weight for this property, armed with impressive tension and a citrus-fresh, quite vivacious finish. I love the aftertaste of lemon curd and praline. Not the best Lafaurie-Peyraguey, but it does the job with minimum fuss. Tasted from an ex-château bottle at home. Drink 2019-2045.

The 2021 Lafaurie-Peyraguey is one of the wines of the year in Sauternes. Creamy and beautifully resonant in the glass, it offers up a compelling mélange of pineapple, mint, ginger, orange confit, chamomile, passionfruit and floral-infused honey. The 2021 is exotic and wonderfully deep, yet not at all heavy. It's too bad Sauternes is such an out of favor category, as great wines like this don't get much attention. The 2021 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey is terrific, if not the finest vintage I've tasted from this château. Coming from 93% Semillon, 6% Sauvignon, and 1% Muscadelle, representing a selection of 65% of the production, it offers a beautiful perfume of ripe peach, honeyed citrus, marmalade and flower oil. Crisp green apple, lemon, elderflower, this could pass for a dry white wine on the nose - super expressive. Lively on the palate, fresh and upfront with such an ease of drinking. It's a gentle style in that the weight, texture, acidity and sweetness are all soft and calm not too excessive or overt. It's very charming in a subtle quiet way with hints of orange, almond, hazelnut but also a salinity underneath giving an added nuance that some of the others don't have. Drinking Window 2025 - 2049.

Regularly one of the standout dry white wines from the Bordeaux appellation, the 2021 Blanc, a blend of 73% Sauvignon (picked on the 9th, 11th and 13th of September) and 27% Sémillon (picked on the 7th of September), offers up a fresh, delicate and elegant bouquet with aromas of lemon oil, lemon, spices, lime tree leaves, menthol and perfectly ripe orchard fruits. Medium to full-bodied, satiny and racy, it's layered and seamless, its concentrated core of fruit framed by racy acids and a calcareous, saline finish. Drink 2024 - 2034.

The 2021 Les Champs Libres is one of the best editions of this wine yet. Rich and explosive, with tremendous dimension, the 2021 screams with character. Pear, white flowers, slate, mint and a kiss of French oak all race out of the glass. The 2021 is fabulous. I would be thrilled to own it. Drink 2023-2031.

All Sauvignon Blanc, the 2021 Les Champs Libres Blanc is another sensational wine from this team, which is just about unrivaled in Bordeaux. Ripe melon, honeyed flowers, lime zest, and a liquid rock-like minerality all define this beauty, and it's medium-bodied, with flawlessly integrated acidity, beautiful mid-palate depth, and a great finish. Give it a few years. Drink after 2026.

Creamy herbs, green and red apples, oranges and truffles. Very hard to tell the grape variety from the nose. Filling and fleshy, bright and smooth, mouthwatering and fresh, succulent and just so enjoyable. Gorgeous density yet lightness, you get a ton of lemon and lime, green apple and soft bitter orange elements with saline undertones and a sense of energy and direction. It's a mouthful but leaves no trace of heaviness. Again, where the reds truly shine is the nuance at the end, and this has that. A few minutes later you're still tasting all the nuances and makes you think this is an excellent white Bordeaux. Refreshing, tangy, moreish and clean. Fabulous. Drink 2024 - 2035.

The Les Champs Libres 2018 Blanc is made from 100% Sauvignon Blanc from Sancerre sélection massale clones, produced by the very talented Guinaudeau family (of Chateau Lafleur fame). It offers up a beguiling nose of lemon drops, lime blossoms, struck flint and fresh grapefruit with hints of mandarin peel and coriander seed. The elegant, refreshing, medium-bodied palate has an electric line of intense citrus flavors with tons of mineral sparks, finishing long and perfumed. This is absolutely a wine without peer in Bordeaux (anywhere!), and I love it! Drink 2022-2032.

The 2018 Les Champs Libres is a powerful, phenolic white of real substance. White flowers, citrus, chamomile, sage and light tropical notes all open in the glass, but it is the tactile feel of Les Champs Libres that leaves the deepest impression. Here, too, there is a touch of reduction, but all the elements are so finely put together. Drink 2023-2030.

Aromas of dried apples, lemon zest, green papaya, herbs and toasted almonds. It’s full-bodied with tangy acidity. Exciting citrus zest, stones and wild herbs on the long finish. This needs time to come around with such acid and phenolic tension. Try after 2023.

The 2018 Guinaudeau Vignerons Les Champs Libres Blanc is 100% Sauvignon from clay and limestone soils. It was vinified in new barrels and spent 5 months on lees. A beautiful, tight, concentrated white, it offers lots of tart lemon, white grapefruit, honeyed lime, and sappy flower-like nuances as well as a brilliant chalky mineral component that emerges with time in the glass. Despite the new barrels, it doesn't show a hint of oak and is medium-bodied, with bright acidity and a great finish. It's going to benefit from a year or three of bottle age and will keep for 10-15 years, if you're so inclined. Drink 2021-2036.

This is brilliant, so flavourful with so much persistency and fully embraces the slate texture. I always love this wine, and it stands out even more than usual in this vintage because so many whites have missed this gathering of pace and clear minerality. Massal selection from Sancerre estates. Drink 2021 - 2032.

The 2019 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is a rich, textured white. Apricot, orange confit, chamomile, sweet oak and lightly honeyed notes all grace this creamy, super-expressive dry white. The aromatics here are very tropical, luscious, and bold. Extroverted, racy and absolutely impeccable in its balance, the 2019 is a classy wine. The 2019 is 70% Sauvignon and 30% Sémillon aged in new oak, cask and cement.

The 2019 Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc is slightly deeper in colour compared to its peers. The bouquet is charming, replete with honeysuckle, lemon zest and white flower aromas that burst from the glass. The palate is vibrant on the entry with tangy orange rind and a saltiness that gets the saliva flowing on the finish. Drink over the next 10-20 years (if you can resist.)

A bright, dense white with lots of dried-lemon, pear and apple character. Some vanilla and cream. It’s full-bodied and flavorful. Seriously structured.

The white from here is always solid as well and seems to be on an upward trajectory. The 2019 Château Larrivet Haut-Brion Blanc reveals a healthy light gold color as well as classic Graves Blanc notes of ripe pineapple, mandarin orange, honeysuckle, and exotic flowers. With plenty of fruit, medium to full body, juicy acidity, and a clean finish, it's a classy, outstanding white in the making. Tasted twice.

The 2020 Latour Martillac Blanc has a fragrant nose of lemongrass, spiced pears and lime leaves, plus hints of fresh peaches and shaved almonds. The medium-bodied palate has an impressively racy backbone cutting through the intense citrus and stone fruit flavors, finishing long and zesty.

The 2020 Latour-Martillac Blanc has a more reserved bouquet compared to its peers, but still quite compelling, with crushed rock infusing the dried yellow flowers, white peach and chai tea scents. I could nose this all day. The very well-balanced palate is quite intense, offering a fine bead of acidity and plenty of tension and mineralité toward the saline finish. If I was going to spend my money on one dry white Bordeaux this year, it might well be this.

A dense yet fresh white with sliced lemon and cooked apple. Green mango, too. Phenolic tension. Full-bodied and layered. Solid phenolics at the end.

I love this white, it has confidence and power and a sense of direction as well as a slate minerality that drags though the palate in a good way. Savoury white fruit - good stuff. A yield of 44hl/ha, 25% new oak. 14 months ageing on lees.

Full bottle 1,325 g. Undated cask sample. 68% Sauvignon blanc, 32% Semillon. Aged for 14 months in French oak barrels (25% new).
Inexpressive on the nose, but in such a way that suggests the wine may have hidden depths. Very salivatory and much drier than some of its peers. Rather fine-boned and with lots of energy and drive. Appetising.
