Spirits & Liqueurs

Explore the world of spirits.

The world of spirits is remarkably diverse, with each category offering its own history, production methods and flavour profiles. From the smoky complexity of Islay whisky to the botanical freshness of gin or the rich luxurious sweetness of liqueurs, there’s always something new to discover. At Nicks Wine Merchants, our range spans the full spectrum of major spirit styles. Whisky remains a cornerstone of our collection, particularly highly sought-after Single Malt Scotch whiskies and rare releases, including Johnnie Walker collectables. Alongside these sit world class examples of rum, tequila, gin and vodka.

Classic spirit categories to discover...

Each spirit category brings its own distinctive character and drinking experience, from complex aged whiskies to lighter, cocktail-friendly spirits:

Whisky — A favourite among collectors and enthusiasts for its complexity and regional variation, ranging from elegant Speyside malts to powerful peated expressions from Scotland’s islands and beyond, to world whiskies from every continent on earth!

Gin — Known for its botanical diversity, gin offers everything from classic juniper-led styles to modern craft interpretations infused with citrus, spice and herbal notes.

Rum — Primarily produced throughout the Caribbean and Latin America, rum spans a wide spectrum of styles, from light and vibrant mixing rums to deeply aged, full-bodied expressions.

Tequila — Distilled from blue agave in Mexico, tequila showcases flavours that range from fresh and peppery blancos to smooth, oak-aged añejo and extra añejo styles.

Vodka — Clean, smooth and highly versatile, vodka remains a staple for cocktails and home bars, valued for its purity and adaptability across a wide range of drinks.

Liqueurs — For those who prefer sweeter or more aromatic elixirs, it’s easy to buy liqueurs online from our collection, which includes herbal digestifs, citrus-forward aperitifs and classic cocktail ingredients.

We taste and rate many of the spirits and liqueurs before you do.

We've always stood out as one of the few retailers to review wines and make our own call on quality and value for money. Part of our ongoing journey has been coming to terms with the qualitative differences between spirits. Put simply, what makes for a great whisky or a bad vodka? In 2009, we began developing an accountable working model for the evaluation of all spirit types based on the existing parent system, 'Winespider'. We also endeavour to source reviews from reputable critics to further guide you in your selections. Buy spirits online at Nicks and get them delivered to most areas of Australia.

Adults often say they feel like 'kids in a candy shop' when they walk through our doors. Unfortunately, not everyone is able to travel out to our Melbourne-based shop. Thankfully, whether it's a single bottle of bitters or you're restocking your entire bar, Nicks Wine Merchants can deliver to hard-to-find spirits and liqueurs.
