1995 Berry Bros & Rudd Allt-a-Bhainne 21 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

The Allt-a-Bhainne distillery is working again since having been mothballed in 2002. Gaelic for ‘burn of milk’, it's a very young distillery, opened only in 1975, serving primarily to supply whisky for the Chivas Regal blends. Not surprisingly then, maximum efficiency has been key to its success. Despite its significant output, it's designed to be run by a single person.

The house style is usually light and fresh, with sweet floral and perfume notes on the nose. There's never been an official distillery bottling from Allt A’ Bhainne, although one may come across the occasional independent. This one from Berry Bros & Rudd comes non chill filtered and weighs in at 52% Alc./Vol. Expect aromas and flavours of coconut, fruit and vanilla with a delicate peatiness as well as sweet grassy notes and a little spice.
