    Gamondi Amaro Digestif Liqueur (1000ml)
    ITALY
    $84. 99
    Bottle
    $1019.88 Dozen
    ABV: 27%

A specialty characterised by the traditional cold maceration of herbs and plants to achieve a balance between sweet and bitter. In this expression from Gamondi, 29 herbs and aromatic roots are left to macerate in two separate infusions: The first lasts about 40 days and includes roots, herbs and barks that give the bitter tones, such as gentian, rhubarb, wormwood, cape aloe and cinchona. The second process takes about 30 days. Herbs, flowers and peels added during this phase contribute aromatic, sweet and spicy notes. In particular, the peels of sweet and bitter orange, mandarin, vanilla, mint and cinnamon stand out. Comes with two glasses in a handsome presentation box. 27% Alc./Vol.

    Mr Black Coffee Amaro (700ml)
    New South Wales, AUSTRALIA
    $79. 99
    Bottle
    $959.88 Dozen
    ABV: 28.5%
This special edition Mr Black is inspired by the aromas and flavours common to both coffee and amaro: fruit, spice and herbs. Fourteen botanicals are employed including orange, lemon, lime, gentian, angelica, coriander, lime and grapefruit.

Head distiller Philip Moore explains, “Amaro is essentially a botanical drink, similar to a gin or absinth, so blending that idea with the specialty coffee craftsmanship of Mr Black was something I really enjoyed developing.” The result is a modern interpretation of the caffeinated cocktail, ideal for mixing with soda, tonic or enjoying neat after a meal.

Tasting note: Burnt umber with sienna edges. Fresh coffee beans, fruity dark chocolate, a touch of jaffa and orange peel on the nose while cocoa and citrus peel complement strong roasted coffee accents in a silky, gently bittersweet delivery. Chocolate box, coffee and sweet spices continue through the finish. Ends with hints of coffee, gentian and bitter peel reigning in the mid palate sweetness. 28.5% Alc./Vol.

    $99. 99
    Bottle
    $1199.88 Dozen
    ABV: 31%
    Closure: Cork

An invigorating after-dinner drink which can be served straight, chilled or with crushed ice and a slice of orange.

Tasting note: Pours a viscous sienna brown with a gold ochre hue. Offers up attractive scents of sarsaparilla, citrus peel and chocolate liquorice bullets. A supple, creamy entry leads into a silky smooth palate that's unexpectedly choc-peppermint like with undertones of sarsaparilla and citrus peel. A mild bitterness rounds things off before concluding dry, faintly herbal, fresh and menthol like. A delicious, broad appeal Amaro with the bitter notes toned down. 31% Alc./Vol.

Other reviews... Mixologists will love this deep brown amaro for adding complex, sophisticated flavors to cocktails. Bold, warm dark-chocolate notes meld with a minty, herbal, palate-cleansing finish, and a surprisingly but mellow sweetness tempers the forward bitter notes. Lovely and light bodied. 94 points

    $479.88 Dozen
    ABV: 30%

An intriguing spirit that's been produced from an eclectic array of ingredients (24 in total, of which 17 are botanicals.) These include linden blossom, birch bud, valerian root, raspberry, bilberry, and ginger as well as nutmeg and black peppercorn. A brief maturation period follows in oak barrels.

Riga's pharmacist created the basic recipe for this drink in the 18th century. Today its composition is supplemented with natural black currant juice along with ginger. Enjoy Riga Black Balsam Currant pure or in refreshing cocktails.

Tasting note: Viscous, autumn leaf brown with rust-red edges. Like a sloe gin, this offers attractive raspberry and black currant aromas refreshed by gentle acidity. The concentration is good too - initially creamy with semi sweet, juicy, ripe red berry and spice flavours followed by subtle bitter herbaceous notes late in the aftertaste. An old world classic. 30% Alc./Vol.

    ABV: 45%

An intriguing spirit drink that's been produced from an eclectic array of ingredients (24 in total, of which 17 are botanicals.) These include linden blossom, birch bud, valerian root, raspberry, bilberry, and ginger as well as nutmeg and black peppercorn. A brief maturation period follows in oak barrels. It pours an eye-catching, glycerous, burnt sienna brown with a gold ochre hue. The prickly aroma is as at once appealing as it is mysterious; An unlikely combination of iced coffee, raw sugar, dried berries, quince paste and cocoa that just works. The palate is initially semi-sweet, followed by a bittersweet surge of spice; flavours of cherry cola and sarsaparilla make this almost Amaro-like. The finish is properly bitter followed by a tannic, tea leaf aftertaste and a cocoa / bitter herbal fade. Enjoy it straight up, on the rocks, or mixed in a variety of cocktails. Latvians tell us it goes nicely with berry juice or in coffee. Otherwise, drink it as you would a digestif. 45% Alc./Vol.

    Amaro Tutone (700ml)
    ITALY
    $84. 99
    Bottle
    $1019.88 Dozen
    ABV: 34%

This premium Amaro comes with a serious history, having been produced at the one location in the old historical centre of Palermo since 1813. A key ingredient is aniseed. The appearance is one of the deepest, thickest going, reflected in the aromatics which are richer, heavier, less citrus-driven and more in the sweet spice - dried fruit to old tawny spectrum; Cola nut, moist fruit cake, fruity dark chocolate and hints of orange zest are beautifully integrated; the palate is lush, delicately bitter and long with gentian, herbal teas, mixed dried peels and dark chocolate featuring through the finish - though the highlight here is the seductive texture. A luxurious after-dinner Amaro straight up, or try it over ice with an orange garnish. 34% Alc./Vol.
