2008 The Whisky Cellar Private Cellars Selection Glen Elgin 13 Year Old Cask Strength Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

Matured in a single American oak cask and then finished in an ex-Sauternes wine cask: Low key aromatics suggest pineapple pudding and dustings of fruity dark chocolate, repeated on the palate but in more engaging fashion; Oily and textural, with a mildly succulent middle and medium long, sweet citrus aftertaste. Long fermentation (80 to 120 hours) and slow distillation partly account for the fruity character here. Just under 300 bottles released. 52.5% Alc./Vol. Non chill filtered.

Notes from the bottlers... Expect notes of aniseed, freshly cut orange zest, jasmine blossom, sweet honeyed apricots and warming spice.
