2003 Gordon & Macphail Connoisseurs Choice Caol Ila 12 Year Old Single Malt Scotch Whisky (700ml)

From independent bottlers, Gordon & Macphail, this bottling from the Caol Ila Distillery was distilled in 2003 and bottled in 2015 from first fill bourbon barrels. Non chill filtered and natural colour. Good to see the ABV has been raised from the previous release, which invariably makes for a better dram.

Other reviews... something of a Bavarian lightly smoked sausage about this....Chewy, although slightly less to get your teeth into than normal for a Caol Ila; bitters, slightly, but now the smoke grows and oils develop....paradoxically, understated yet confident. 46% Alc./Vol.
