The Last Drop was founded by three industry veterans who set out to track down extraordinary old stocks in forgotten cellars in order to bring whiskies of both great age and exceptional quality to the market. What can only be described as an obsession, they've committed a significant amount of time and energy scouring Scotland for buried treasure.

This bottling represents The Last Drop's first-ever single malt. And they managed to pick a very old distillery with a detailed history of producing high-quality malt: Glen Garioch. From a time when they were making a sizable ratio of peated whisky, they were also floor malting, a practise mostly out of fashion. Another unusual trait was that this whisky spent 47 years in a reportedly “bourbon-style remade hogshead cask.”, which was unusual for the time. The results seem to speak for themselves, with many reviewers describing a thick, oily mouthfeel with tannic but fresh, sweet fruit and an iodine-laden smoky overlay. The word complex is used with abandon. No real surprise considering how long and well this whisky has been sitting. Exceptionally rare. 45.4% Alc./Vol.

Tasting notes from one of the Last Drop trio, Andrew Rankin... This magnificent malt has matured with elegance. Heady notes of cognac-soaked fruitcake, marzipan and icing are balanced with ripe apricot and a hit of peaty smokiness, softening to a delicious vanilla and honey nectar.
