"n24 One of those gold hued, pure magic casks with the marks of Hurst and Moore upon it. Forty years on and the sherry is still lashing it out with rich toffee apple, soft natural caramels and moist fruitcake. Not even the hint of an off note to be had; t24 mouth-watering barley...after all this time!! And then layer upon layer of sherry of varying viscosity and intensity. Lush, lithe and latently spicy; the oak is naturally deep but never gets caught out of position and knows exactly when to pass; f24 still developing as a touch of Jaffa cake sweetens the vanilla and coating of dark chocolate. After an almost world record number of taste waves for a non-peated cask, very late on even lighter, fresher fruits. There's some peaches running on to the palate. They think it's all over: it is now...; b24 this cannot be in any way confused with England's bid to win the 2006 World Cup. Because this has style, charisma, shape, purpose, the ability to attack, plenty in reserve and the unmistakable pedigree and aura of something that can not only match just about anything else in the world, but beat it. Ironically, the label says Butt - which sums up to the English France's World Cup comeuppance. And WC, which nutshells the French (and everyone else) England's quality of management and play...This is one of the great single cask malts of my lifetime. Sven, being a Caol Ila man, would have no idea how to change tactics to understand this. But the rest of us can see what a World Cup winner this is... 48%"
