Such a beautiful, fresh nose with tons of wild herbs, thyme, rosemary, sour cherries and flowers. Very linear and bright on the palate, charged with silky, fine-grained tannins and fine austerity. You can literally smell the herbs and the wild flowers from the vineyard. Pristine but intense and so fresh and precise. Pure fruit! Insane value. Drink now.

Paul Hobbs Vina Cobos Bramare appellation wines are sourced from two of the most prestigious growing regions in Mendoza, Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. Lujan de Cuyo is fed by the snow-melt of the Andes through the Mendoza River with high altitudes ranging from 945-1100 metres. Its high elevation location in combination with a semi-desert climate and low-nutrient, gravelly soils provide ideal conditions for cultivation of quality fruit. The cool, high altitude region of Valle de Uco’s vineyard sites range from 900-1400 metres in elevation and are characterized by their proximity to the Andes mountains.
Aged for 18 months in new French (20%) oak and new American oak (10%) with the balance in a combination of second use oak. Pitch black in colour with a deep dark red black hue. Wafting from the glass with great potency are cassis, dark plum and liquorice scents trailed by dark chocolate, vanillin oak, earthy mocha and spice notes. Bold, rich and unashamedly lavish in nature, the palate is engulfed with opulent cassis, dark plum and liquorice fruits which are well integrated with toasty vanillin oak, subtle dried herbs, traces of earth and spice. Sturdy in structure yet possessing velvet like tannins it concludes ripe, long and powerful.

Malbec is grown throughout Mendoza, with the Uco Valley in the south including the sub districts of Tupungato and La Consulta, two new hot spots for cooler climate Malbec. Bramare (brah-MAH-reh) is an Italian word meaning "to yearn for", and pays tribute to the heritage of the Marchiori family.

Over the past twenty years, Hobbs and his team at Viña Cobos have dedicated themselves to seek out, study, and develop vineyard sites in the two premier growing regions of Mendoza: Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco. After visiting Argentina in 1989, Californian trail blazer Paul Hobbs became deeply interested in both the terroir and Argentine culture, noticing the unique potential for Malbec and other varietals in the region. After meeting two kindred spirits, Andrea Marchiori and Luis Barraud, they founded Viña Cobos in 1997 and since then there has been no looking back.
Utilizing gnarly old vines, careful vineyard selection, very low yields and an unerring empathy for the raw materials, Viña Cobos craft intense yet balanced wines that showcase the elegance and beauty of this region.

Magnificent colour saturation displaying an impenetrable inky black core with a very deep black dark red hue. Hedonist aromas of ripe blackcurrant, liquorice, dark plum and hints of dark chocolate waft through the nostrils followed by vanillin cedar, earthy tobacco and dried herb notes. ‘The Steve Jobs of Wine’ is how Forbes magazine coined famed Napa winemaker Paul Hobbs. Vina Cobos is his Argentinian project where he fashions new world style styles of wine. Over recent years the flamboyance of the wines has been toned down a few notches to provide the wines with a touch more freshness and polish. The outstanding 2017 Mendoza vintage producing one of the best Cocodrilo’s yet.

A gorgeous Cabernet blend that counterpoints a Californian like richness and opulence with the polish of a top flight Bordeaux.

A blend of 82% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, 5% Petit Verdot and 4% Merlot with the fruit sourced from the Lujan de Cuyo and Valle de Uco appellations. Maturation took place in a mixture of American (11% new) and French oak (6% new). Impenetrable pitch black core showing fabulous colour density with a dark red black hue. Sent soaring from the glass are ripe blackcurrant, liquorice and subtle dark chocolate aromatics which morph into vanillin cedar, tobacco and spice notes. Rich and bold the palate is layered with intense flavours of blackcurrant, ripe black cherry and liquorice fruit that have an opulent feel. Magnificent concentration and depth concluding with a very long aftertaste that’s stuffed with rich, opulent fruit.
