2021 sees a return to the elegant and refined claret style many associate with the region prior to the solar vintages experienced over the last two decades. Alcohols levels are down a good 1% or more, and with higher natural acidity levels, the wines will display a greater degree of drinkability than some of the more blockbuster years. As William Kelley notes, "were the 2021s transposed to the decade of the 1990s, they would be considered the product of a superb vintage."
